[Q] Google Wallet Tap and Pay Setup Failed - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My first gen Nexus 7 is running completely stock Android 4.4 (non-root and locked bootloader) and just updated to Wallet 2.0. However, Wallet complains the setup for tap and pay fails. I also notice there is no "Tap and Pay" menu in the system settings. I get the "Tap and Pay" menu item on my Nexus 4. Do you guys have the "Tap and Pay" menu item on your N7 running 4.4? Anyone having the same Wallet setup issue?

My N4 no longer listed as a device in Google Play

After removing the google services framework data to try to force the 4.2.1 update, my Nexus 4 has gone from my Google Play devices.
I removed the data from my Nexus 7 to do the same and that also vanished but came back a short time later.
The nexus 4 still isn't back after a full day. I often install from the website if installing a few things but can't now.
(And I still haven't go the update)
You might have to log in again from your N4. Try this:
Go into your Settings
Tap Google under Accounts
Tap *********@gmail.com
Tap the 3 dot menu and Remove Account
Now go back to settings and add a new account

Made sense but that didn't bring it back

4.2.2 and now apps won't update or download

I got the update normally. I am not rooted nor have I ever been. But ever since 4.2.2 updates to apps fail and I cannot download from the play store. Anyone else having these problems?

We're going to try two methods here to get you back in shape.
First.
Quick toggle pull down
Settings
Apps
Swipe left to the "all" catagory
Scroll down till you find "Google Play Store"
Force stop
Clear data
Now try the play store
If that doesn't work
Try
Quick Toggle pull down
Settings
Scroll down to accounts
Tap Google
Tap your account
Tap the settings menu (three dots in the upper right)
Remove Account
Back out to the settings screen
Add Account
Google
Sign in with your Google account
Try the play store
I had to delete my main account, reboot, and readd my account to fix this issue.

[Q] Google Wallet "Tap to pay" No Longer Possible?

https://support.google.com/wallet/answer/1347934?hl=en
The Nexus 7 (2012) is listed here. Was just going through Wallet set-up on my N7 and noticed that tap to pay was not available. Is there any explanation as to why?

Enable Google now in lollipop

Running n5 preview build of lollipop. Can anyone help me to enable Google now since I don't live in US?

I follow the steps in this thread, it's the only method I find to enable google now in android L in these countries that cannot use google now.

Read the first line of the original post...
Google Location services are not available in all countries (which is fine) but Google Now shouldn't explicitly need location services. Location services are not available in my country and Google Now still works with no problems on my Nexus 5 and worked on my Nexus 7 (2013) before I updated to the L Developer preview (using the Play Services - Uninstall updates trick) and still shows me location weather information, appointments, news updates, delivery updates, time to work.home, time to get to the location of my next appointment, etc... all without being able to enable location services. I don't understand why Google would limit their service when it clearly works with no problem but has no problems pushing out beta apps to everyone which clearly have issues (new hangouts desktop app).
The Play Services trick did not work on 5.0 for me either. If I do find a way around it I'll let you know.
UPDATE: Managed to get it working with the following steps:
1. Logged out of Google search app
2. Uninstall Play Services updates
3. Connect to a Free UK VPN (I used this: http://www.bestukvpn.com/)
4. Ask Google to remind you of something and select the opt in to Google Now option
5. Go through the steps to enable Google now.
6. When you get the "This account is not eligible to use Google now" click on search bar and search for anything
7. Open the hamburger menu while in search (click on the menu icon or slide from the left)
8. You will notice that you are not signed in. Select sign in and select your account.
9. Viola you will get the opt in to Google now option again and you should then have Google Now
That's what worked for me. Ask Google to remind you of something to make sure its working. Hope this helps .

"Last used" not updating in play store or setup wizard

I recently noticed that when I switched back to stock updates from the Android N beta, my "Last used" when I was going through the phones set up process was VERY old. It said my 6P was "last used" 72 days ago, and none of my apps and WiFi passwords I have added since them appear to be showing up after the restore. I checked the Google Play Store settings on the desktop and found the list of "My Devices", and I noticed that my 6P's "Last Used" column is blank. Completely blank. It says "Registered On August 19, 2016", so that part makes sense, but it does not appear to be updating the "Last Used" data.
I have ensured that my account sync is enabled, as well as the "Automatic restore" and "Back up my data" found in the "Backup & Reset" options of the settings.
I also am on stock updates (the August security patch currently), locked bootloader, no root, completely stock.
I also created a new Google account to test this, installed just 2 apps, waited about an hour, then factory reset and logged back in with that new account, and it never prompted me to restore previously installed apps. The "Last Used" column for that account is also blank. It's not clear on what intervals the automatic backup happens, and under what conditions (not used for a long time, WiFi, etc.), so it's possible I didn't test it long enough.
Could this be a device issue? It really seems like software, but I have seen stranger things.
I've seen that too. I got my replacement 6P a couple days ago. Set it all up then decided to unlock my bootloader. I did that, then when I set up my phone again, the 6P that I literally just set up wasn't on the list of devices to restore my account. I don't get it.
