Since it's a flash failure, flash something simple like a boot image and it should clear the flash fail.

can u give me some more info, like...a link to a boot image?
(phone: Droid razr m -XT907-)

Mine just did the same thing today. What I did was: powered it down. Powered it back up by holding both volume buttons and power buttons. When to factory and it just booted up completely fine. I don't know what exactly it did, but I'm not complaining!

Having problems with CWM recovery. Any suggestions?

I used the Nexus 7 toolkit to flash the latest CWM recovery. If I boot into fastboot and choose recovery mode it just hangs on the Google boot animation. I can boot to it from the toolkit though. Anyone else experience this/know what I did wrong?

You need to have a USB cable connected to the Nexus 7, and if you're in fastboot it'll load into recovery. Known bug

flash twrp recovery, its not buggy and is more functional.

It's a problem with the boot loader. For now you will need to be plugged into a computer to go into recovery. It doesn't even have to have drivers or anything installed.
Plug in tablet into computer
Use power and volume buttons to get into recovery
And no, this problem won't be fixed by flashing twrp because it deals with the boot loader.
Just boot to recovery from Rom manager or similar.
I can confirm that quick boot does work to get you into recovery.

Same problem
I've read in other threads that deleting the stock recovery, or modifying it's filename, will fix this problem. Does anyone know if this is true? I can boot recovery through Rom manager or through the power menu. The only worry I have is if I ever get stuck in a bootloop, or brick. It is good to know about the usb trick to load CWM, thanks for that.
Flash TWRP, and use an app like quick boot to reboot into recovery.

I use TWRP and boot to recovery through the roms power menu. I've been very happy with TWRP though, I use a recovery because of stability and performance. I could really care less if it's touch or if it has themes, so when I recommend TWRP it's because I've been using it so long on my transformer prime and nexus 7 and it has done nothing but work exactly like it should.

Weird because today I tried to get into CWR for the first time since I rooted, and it wouldn't work. I got the red ! triangle [sticking out of the green robot].
I plugged it into my laptop.. [and btw I was holding vol UP/DOWN, press power, in the bootloader then selecting 'Recovery' then <Power>] and this time it showed the "Google" and the unlocked lock.. but then booted into the Android OS.
So I flash TWRP [using Ubuntu, and $ fastboot install recovery {TWRP-filename.img}. And what do you know. It booted perfectly into recovery.
So how do you explain that?

The only possible ways to boot into recovery from a working system partition is by either using an app that reboots for you/terminal command.
To reboot from bootloader/button combination you need to have a USB connection otherwise it will freeze at the Google logo. This is bootloader related and not recovery related as any recovery (stock/cwm/twrp) show the same behavior.
You can try fully powering off the tablet and try booting by button combo and you will see it freezes. Using the power adapter will completely freeze your bootloader if you try, so you require a USB connection to a computer to get into recovery.
For me to boot into recovery , I have to use the tool kit all the time. Is that what everyone is doing??? Because every time I go to fastboot and choose recovery (with my N7 plugged on the usb) I get the Android with the exclamation point.

Nexus10 bootloop

Hi,
i have a problem with rooting my nexus 10: After installing te recovery, i was to slow updating the drivers.
No i have a bootloop, my device dont boot the OS, it hangs on the animation.
I can enter the bootlaoder, so i assume that i dint brick the device.
What should i do? flash the factory image?
plz help
After fastboot oem unlock you need to do a factory reset... A userdata.img is included in stock images from Google at https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#mantarayjop40c
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
so i have to flash this image in fastboot?
fastboot flash userdata.img ?
i just dl the factory image from here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images and run the flash-all bat but still a bootloop
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
ok, i just hit this, letz hope it works, im a bit worried that i brick the device
edit : ok still a bootloop ;(
Do cache.img in the same way... See if that fixes it ( I did all this earlier too when I got a bootloop in the same manner)
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
ok. ill gonna try it, how long shoul i wait, until im sure that it is a bootloop? 2 min?
yeeaahhh ill got a boot
should i reflash the factory image just to get sure all ist stock again, and all what i do is reverted?
I didn't flash system.img on mine after updating to latest stock (mine arrived with older firmware than stock image)... especially don't do it if you want to keep superuser installed.

Bootloop and "Downloading-do not turn off target!!" in recovery
Hi there,
New here so please be gentle if possible Opened box, updated OTA firmware to latest 4.2, enabled developer mode & USB, used adb reboot fastboot and adb oem unlock to unlock. Confirmed unlock and now stuck in a bootloop. When I use Power+Down to go into recovery, I get the Android picture stating "Downloading... do not turn off target!!!". Fastboot and adb commands won't work, so I can't figure out how to get past this point. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
It's a pain to get into the bootloader. Always takes me a few tries. Try holding down power and both vol keys. I have to do it several times, sometimes just vol - sometimes both. Eventually it will go to the bootloader without the downloading dialog.

Big thanks to both of you who replied with hints. I confirm that holding down BOTH volume keys and power brought me into regular fastboot. I went into recovery (then pressed up+power) and did a factory reset. The (unlocked) Nexus then booted properly after that. I have had no issues since. *fingers crossed*
i have the same problem right now. im using the nexus10toolkit and I have reflashed it back to stock and unroot it. Im still stuck at bootloop. any ideas?

Go back to fastboot. Once in fastboot, go into RECOVERY. You'll get android andy on its back with red exclamation point. Hold down POWER then briefly press VOLUME UP. You should then have the menus visible. Now just wipe your device. Reboot and it should work now. If not do the relock, unlock, relock and fastboot recovery and wipe data.

Sry for waking up this thread. I am in the same situation as this user, tried to use the nexus tool kit, reflashed the stock factory image and unrooted it and after everything was done its stuck at the google logo. If i try to acces fastboot i always go into download mode. It says downloading...do not turn off target !!
If i press the power button it restarts the device and again stuck in bootloop at the google logo. I cant unlock or lock because i cant get into fastboot at all.
Help?
LE: i havent manually booted in fastboot mode for so long that i forgot i have to press both the volume buttons for it, was only pressing vol down. Silly me, sorry for the post

I have tried 100 times to boot in fastboot mode. I've done every combination of power, volume up, and volume down imaginable. All my tablet does is vibrate. It will boot to the nexus logo but stays in a boot loop. How can I get to the fastboot? Is it just bricked beyond repair. I was attempting to unlock it with the nexus toolkit and it rebooted my device during the process and started this bootloop. Can anyone help?????
Can adb find your device when in bootloop? If so
adb reboot bootloader
If not you will need to continue trying to get into fastboot mode with the hardware keys. I doubt you are bricked as the bootloader is still there or it wouldn't make it to splash screen

Unable to get in recovery

Is there any way I can get into recovery? and does anybody have a OS file? my Zenfone3 doesnt have a OS installed
Use power + volume down to turn on your phone and get into recovery.
Download the OS off of the ASUS website, load onto your external sdcard and "apply update from micro sd" while in recovery.

Tried power + volume down, just wont let me and proceeds into booting screen (then boots forever)
Is there a link I can get for the OS? I dont know where to find it
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Ze...user.zip?_ga=1.122073289.331027854.1489421015
the above is a link to the WW version of Marshmallow for the ZE552KL.....you didn't mention which model phone you had? how did you lose the OS? If you can't get into recovery, maybe you can still get in to fastboot mode, and from there you can flash a new recovery and then OS.
so when your phone is fully powered off and then you hold volume down and power for 10 seconds nothing happens? It just keeps booting? what about volume up and power for 10 seconds?
Snowwolf725 was kind enough to post a link to all the recovery and bootloader images:

Download the one for your model and firmware and then you can push it to your phone with "fastboot flash recovery xxx.img"

If you can't get into recovery mode, fastboot mode, or anything like that, then that means it's a hard brick. Unless you can figure out a way to get into recovery or fastboot mode, I'm afraid you're out of luck.

Then you're probably fine. Boot/flash recovery and then flash the OS from ASUS' website.
Pyroaz, download the recovery image for the z017d I have attached. Unzip it and then flash it to your phone while it's in fastboot mode. The command is fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
after that, you should have access to recovery with the volume down and power keys.

Can't access recovery mode, bootloader locked

Good evening,
I have trying to get my phone working for a few weeks now to no avail. I can access fastboot mode and it recognizes the device but I cannot access recovery mode. The phone is stuck on the logo screen, powered by Android. When I try to boot to recovery mode, it stays on the logo screen. Any advice? I am willing to try anything at this point.
Thank you!

When you seeing the dead Android you push and hold power button and press volume+ additionally?
We actually do not have a recovery partition. You want to flash it to your current boot slot.
Do this:
fastboot getvar current-slot
this will return your <letter>
then do
fastboot flash boot_<letter> <filename>.img
You can continue forward.
good luck.

To clarify, I assume that the letter will be the partition, a or b. What do you refer to with filename? Is that the zip file with the image to flash? Apologies if the answers are obvious. Just learning over here. Thanks again.

That may or may not be possible.
The first thing I do is fully unlock my bootloader.
For tother people I suggest enabling the OEM Unlock option.
That doesn't me you have to unlock, but it just might save you.
For the OP, did you select the option to OEM Unlock?
Recovering from a boot loop with a locked bootloader might be a challenge.

Cant enter into bootloader after Upgrade to 10.5.8

Hi everyone, i have an Oneplus 8 pro BA european one.
I was in 10.5.6 rooted and with xXx rom 11.0
I did this to install 10.5.8 update:
Before all Disable all magisk modules
- Update the Rom: settings> System> System upgrade. WITHOUT REBOOT;
- Open Magisk Manager;
- In Magisk Manager, click on Install/Install/Direct Install;
- Again in Magisk Manager, click on Install/Install/Inactive Slot;
- Reboot.
After reboot magisk seems to be unnistalled:
https://ibb.co/55hJjwH
And also i cant enter into bootloader, i tried first selecting bootloader mode after pressing power buttom,
but in enters in recovery mode not bootloader mode. Then i tried to use ADB commands, adb reboot bootloder. It goes
into recovery again. Finally i tried to select bootloader mode in the recovery, but nothing...
Any idea?

Hm...I'm in a similar constellation, after update to 10.5.8 I lost magisk and so root. Somehow the extraction of 10.5.8's boot.img and conversion into magisk_patched.img didn't help me regain boot, but ends in crashdump. But from here, I always can get back to bootloader with long pressing vol+ and power, when screen turns black let go both buttons and immediately press vol- and power which brings me back to recovery, from here into bootloader. reflash stock boot.img and I'm fine, but still no root, of course.
ok now, did you try to simply reflash 10.5.8 from settings/system/systemupdate/local upgrade? :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
