Updated TWRP and now not booting

I updated TWRP today to 2.3.0.0 from within GooManager then rebooted into recovery and fixed my permission. It was done unusually fast and when I rebooted, it would get stuck on the booting screen. When I tried to boot into recovery by pressing power and both volume buttons, it would get stuck on the google logo.
Please advise.
Any other way I can fix this or somehow restore from a backup?

A lot of users are having issues with cwm and twrp not booting with new boot loader. You can revert back to old version or some have had success by deleting "recovery-from-boot." file. You can look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779092 I'm going to wait patiently for a twrp update that should resolve the issue.

I'm sorry but I'm not too much of an expert on Android. AFAIK Recovery mode is the only way I know to do some low system stuff. If I can't boot into recovery, how else can I do anything to fix this?
How can I revert back to old version?
I know you linked the other thread but there are 33 pages I was hoping you would have a short answer hehe thanks.

Is it constantly rebooting at the google screen or just stuck?

If I try to boot into system, it's stuck on boot animation.
If I try to boot into recovery manually (power + volume buttons then select recovery) it would get stuck on Google. It doesn't loop.

I see that you posted over on the twrp thread, hopefully those guys can help you. I am assuming that you have updated to 4.1.2? If you're really stuck maybe try a tool kit like wugs or n7 toolkit? Sorry but SDK isn't one of my strong points either

You can reflash recovery from fastboot. If you've updated to 4.1.2 you might be experiencing same issue as many of us - being unable to boot to recovery. If that is the case, flash bootloader 3.34 from the JRO03D factory image as well.

From what I understand, in order to reflash recovery from fastboot would require me to get the file to the device. However, right now I can't seem to get access at all as it never boots up whether into system or recovery. Are there any other ways to get files onto there?

OK this is weird. I tried rebooting into recovery again and it worked! I then rebooted into system and that worked too! This is so strange because I didn't do anything different. I guess it just took 20+ tries... I am not rebooting in a while... lol

which sounds like you were able to get to fastboot mode (power + vol buttons) - your N7 should look like this. From there you can issue fastboot commands to the device to flash recovery. kerne, and bootloader to name a few.

Actually I spoke too soon.
I can boot into recovery TWRP 2.3 with USB plugged in, but still can't boot into system.
Is it possible for me to downgrade to TWRP 2.2 from within TWRP? I kind of doubt it but am pretty desperate at the moment lol.
Yes, I can get into fastboot, but I'm not sure how to do anything besides pressing volume up or down to start, recovery, fastboot or shut down.

If you can get in to fastboot you are in good shape. :good:
You'll need the fastboot program (and the driver if on Windows) on your computer in order to issue commands. This guide can direct you on how to get that set up.

Fortunately I was able to wipe everything while I was in recovery and restore from my most recent backup and now it's working fine. At the very least it's allowing me to boot into system
OK I'm really not rebooting for a while lol

I installed twrp a few weeks ago through GooManager and made a backup. When the 4.1.2 update came out, I downloaded it manually with the intent on flashing it via cu custom recovery, but low and behold twrp wasn't working at all. Even with my device plugged into my Win 7 pc... nothing but the exclamation point droid.
I was able to install an updated version of twrp and get everything sorted out, but now I don't have a lot of faith in it, and am booting into recovery at least once a day to make sure it's still working. I never had any problems with cwm.

Twrp has been updated if you're still having issues.

I'm using twrp version 2.3.0.0, and have no plans on updating it because it's stable and working great now

Updated to 2.3.1.0 but still having booting issues

Stuck in CWMod Recovery

Went to boot into recovery and the damn thing is stuck. I can move around up and down with the volume buttons but i cannot press enter with the power button. shutting it off only reboots the tablet and goes back into recovery. any ideas?

Can you get to the bootloader screen so you can use fastboot? If so try flashing the TWRP recovery, it's a great recovery.

I can press the power button and both volumes and it gets me to download mode... from there, every option i try just gets me back to recovery. when i press start, it sends me to recovery. when i press shut down and then turn it on - recovery. when i press restart bootloader, it still takes me to recovery afterwards. wtf happened here man? never seen this before.

If you can at least get to download/fastboot mode, either get the stock recovery.img file or extract the recovery.img file from a custom_recover.zip, such as CMW or TWRP and place it in the directory where you have the fastboot util on your Windows PC, plug in the device into your Windows PC. Then type the folowing in a Windows Command prompt(without the quotes): "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img". Once that finishes then try rebooting back to recovery.
If you that doesn't work you may have a damaged bootloader, you can try extracting the bootloader(bootloader-manta-mantalj12.img) from the stock ROM and flashing it with the following command: "fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-manta-mantalj12.img" then you can type: "fastboot reboot-bootloader" to reboot directly to the bootloader.

This happened to me yesterday.
Step 1 - hold down the power+volume up+volume down
Step 2 - plug up USB cable and use fastboot to flash the "touch" recovery version. Usebthe method as before, you might need to point your machine to the "naked driver" in dev section to get windows to see the fastboot device driver.
Step 3 - once you are in touch recovery you can just use the touchscreen instead of power button

You can just "adb reboot" from any computer with working adb and drivers.
This needs to not be flashed by default from Rom Manager until they get it taken care of. Twrp and cwm touch work just fine.

Seriously. Can we please sticky a thread or something that says CWM isn't stable on the nexus 10 yet. It would save a lot of people a lot of trouble.

I had the same issue get rid of crappy cwm and flash twrp, flash it by downloading the 1.3 nexus 10 rootkit selecting option 6 i believe with your n10 connected to your pc, it will fix your issue

Can't boot or flash to TWRP or CMW

Today I tried booting up to recovery (power+vol down), after choosing Recovery Mode from the menu and hitting Power button, it gets to a screen with the green Android guy with a red triangle and just stays there.
So I rebooted the phone. Launch Nexus Root Toolkit, I tried to install CWM or TWRP, neither works. It gets to the same recovery mode and gets stuck there, only this time, it gets stuck on the Google logo instead of the Android guy with red triangle. I even try to flash stock recovery, and it also doesn't work.
Why can't I get into CWM or TWRP nor can I flash them?

Be sure u are bootloader unlocked.
Android guy is normal... Is a safety step before entering on stock recovery, to pass that: hold power and hit once volume +
Probably u cant flash images cuz fastboot isnt working(old fastboot.exe file), wrong recovery file,...

[Q] Help with bricked Nexus 10

I am trying to root my Nexus 10. This is what I did, but it ended up bricked!
I installed the Android SDK on my Windows 7 computer, and downloaded the Android USB drivers and tools.
I turned on USB debugging, and checked I could see the device with adb list devices.
I downloaded recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.3-manta.img, booted the tablet into bootloader, and flashed it
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.3-manta.img
That seemed to work, so I went into recovery, but recovery had all sorts of errors - it couldn't find the sdcard, or mount most of the partitions.
Rebooting stops in the animated logo, apparently for ever.
I have since tried to reload the factory image, but the computer no longer recognises the device - fastboot devices returns nothing.
Help!!!
[Later] The tablet was running the latest O/S (if I could boot it, I could tell you the number!)
Things have got worse. Now, when I go into bootloader mode, the volume keys don't do anything any more, so I can't even turn it off now

Make sure fastboot is set up properly, may need to reinstall drivers or try another computer or try another USB

I have a feeling the recovery you flashed was corrupt in some way, did you by chance check the md5sum of the image first?
If your able to get fastboot to recognize tab
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot erase boot
Download latest twrp recovery
Check md5sum
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
Then you will either need to flash stock system.img from fastboot or boot to new recovery and adb sideload a ROM
Hopefully your emmc is not to severely corrupt to all this, best of luck!

Thanks, that was pretty much what I did. The trick was to get it working in boot loader mode. I kept trying to reboot it, and in the end holding down power plus both volume up and down all at the same time for 2 beeps made it work.

I have the same problem, however I can't access my Nexus 10, fastboot devices and adb devices gives back an empty line, so I can't access the N10 with fastboot or adb, to lash a ROM. Factory reset from CWM doesn't work, ˛internal card can't be accessed from CWM ("E: Can't mount /sdcard).
How can I get out of this trouble? (Solutions in forums usually involve reflashing with fastboot or formatting the external SD card. These solutions don't work here...
Any idea would be highly appreciated...

Keep trying to reboot into bootloader mode, until it works. Hold down power and both volume buttons at the same time until it beeps twice. If the volume buttons then work to change the option on the left, but fastboot devices on the pc shows nothing, try reinstalling the Google drivers on the pc (via Device Manager, update drivers, have disk). (may have missed out a step in device manager instructions, but there are plenty of Google hits on installing add drivers if you don't already know how).

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean.
I can get into into bootloader mode after keeping the 3 buttons (power+volume up+volume down) pushed together (after two beeps). From there I can't boot the device. (Boot gets into the Google animation forever), so as factory reset.
Also device manager doesn't see the N10, so I can't update the drivers on my PC.

After some repeated turning off and on, now I can see the N10 from the PC (also updated the USB drivers to be on the safe side).
If I enter the bootloader, fastboot sees the N10 in a normal form, if from there I go into recovery mode, adb sees the N10 in recovery mode. Should I proceed from here by using fastboot, or rather adb?

You should just use volume up + power (or the whatever the volume rocker button closer to power key) never had it beep to get there
To both of you, follow the steps from above, so long as it isn't a hardware issue this will get you working

Glad you have managed to make the device visible again (it's really scary when you can't, I know from yesterday!).
Go into bootloader mode (not recovery), and follow the fastboot instructions demkantor gave earlier in the thread.
Get your factory image from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#mantaray.
Get TWRP recovery from http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/128.
At least, that's how I did it.

Now, my next question, after being unsuccessful with CWM, I tried using TWRP for rooting the tablet, however it wouldnt start.
When I go from the bootloader into recovery mode only a laying android figure is displayed with a red triangle with an exclamation mark inside.

That means you don't have twrp installed. That's the stock recovery. You can download twrp and use fastboot yo flash it or try the app twrp intaller which dies or fir you

Stuck with no ROM

Uninstalled magisk and the screen is black, only vibrates when pressing power button or the right side of the screen. I don't even know how to turn off the phone. I was able to do it because the warning of the bootloader being unlocked appears. How I can flash stock rom? abd won't recognize the phone.
I saw https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/how-to/tool-6t-msmdownloadtool-v4-0-oos-9-0-5-t3867448 this while searching but I'm scared since it locks the bootloader after.

Can you get into fastboot? Hold down both volume buttons together and see if you can force your device into fastboot mode. Then from there, get the TWRP img file and use fastboot to boot the image, then flash the stock OOS rom, either from TWRP install option or with adb sideload of you're comfortable doing that.

I can, could you link me to a tutorial how to boot the image? I got it already, but unsure of how to proceed. Many thanks!
edit: now when I connect it to the PC it stays on the warning that the boot loader is unlocked

Now I was able to start TWRP but I still don't know how to send the file to the phone;
ADB recognizes the phone when TWRP is running
