KNOX?

Nope. No setting in KNOX for that.

Depending on the ROM you're using, Shady SMS works very well. Be sure to turn notifications off if you have Handcent installed or even your private sms messages will show up temporarily.

Do you mean if "Sally" texts you, you want it to go someplace else so "your wife" doesnt see the text?
If so, try GoSMS.
It has a Private InBox that you can tag people so their messages go in there. You prepare the InBox with a special pattern for access so if "your wife" get a hold of the phone, she would have to figure out the private inbox deal and also know your pattern

Exactly. But I don't like the UI that much on go sms. I was using Root Call Blocker on all of my previous phones and was kinda hoping to stumble across a similar app that doesn't require root access cause Root call blocker worked flawlessly for me, and the only access to the app and hidden messages was by using the dial pad to enter a code. Nice, right? ?

Lets not assume a cheating husband. It could also be someone wants to keep txts from their dealer private.
But in all honesty, I would recommend Root Call Blocker. (I know your requirements are for a non-rooted phone, but wanted to give it a +1)

I sincerely don’t like the idea of saying this online but this is my way of saying thank you to a friend who recommended a hacker for me W W W . BILLCYBERSOLUTION  . C O M.. I hired this hacker for a very private and difficult matter of helping me hack my spouse's phone and social networks and some other personal profiles, This hacker far exceeded my expectations, He helped me get access into my spouse' s whatsapp, facebook, text messages, call logs etc faster and cheaper than I had imagined. The first time we spoke, we had a very long phone conversation and he gave me all options that he could think of to resolve my case, and he even recommended I try some options on my own before hiring him, which shows that he is honest, I decided to hire him and i'm so glad I did.. If you need a professional, reliable and efficient hacker, then you should contact this man ; billhackwizard @ gmail dot com, You can also call him or send him a text +1(314) 230 8385, whatsapp number +1(314) 635 7319. He is a fantastic investigator and a great person, contact him and let him know i referred you.

I never know that a cell phone can only be hacked remotely using the phone number until I was introduced to a hacker called Vlad who helped me hack into my wife's phone with just her cell phone number , Now I can track her phone location, her WhatsApp messages, Facebook and all her calls are recorded so I can listen to them. If you think your partner or spouse is cheating, I advise you to contact the hacker on WhatsApp to help you. +1 143 624 6215 or [email protected] gMail . com], tell him that Leonard told you about him. In this way, I show appreciation for helping me with problems with my betrayed wife

Auto number change app please.

Ok let's say you have to change your number for what ever reason and you hate going through the pain of having to send a mass text or calling people telling them your new number. Wouldn't it be cool if there was a app that would change your contact info automactically in the phones of the people that have your previous number? I do understand that people change there number so that they no longer wish to speak to certain people but there would be an option that would let you pick the people who number you want update in there phones. Just wanted to put this out there and see what y'all think of this idea.

Would this app also be able to delete your number from their phone? What about all their other contacts? I was thinking you can also download their pictures with this app and maybe do some tinkering with their credit report?
Just keep your phone number on Facebook, make sure all your "friends and contacts" are on your facebook and tell them to use the Facebook contact info for you, and then change your number each time on Facebook. I get a few changed phone numbers that way.

just give everyone your google voice number. then who cares what your real cell number is.. you can change it all you want the friends w/ your gVoice number will be none the wiser
Not even remotely feasible. There's really no way to modify other people's stored contacts, unless someone creates a program where everyone's contact information is synced to a centralized server (such as Facebook sync, which you have already eliminated).
This first assumes that everyone you know has a phone capable of syncing with Facebook or whatever centralized server is being used. People with non-smartphones or other incompatible devices would automatically be excluded.
This next assumes that they actually have their contacts set up to sync with Facebook or other central service. Some of us just don't sync our contacts with anything more than our Gmail or Exchange accounts, I wouldn't want to have to sync with yet another online server unless my friends were changing their numbers every day. I'd rather them just tell me their number lol.
If you don't want to actually post your number on your Facebook info or wall (which is actually a good idea IMO), you can just make a post saying "Hey, I have a new number, send me a private message to get it". You can also just send a message to those that you're interested in giving your number to, and so on and so on.

[APP] PDroid - The Better Privacy Protection

I was looking through Cyanogenmod forums and noticed dknotor posted a link to this APP, but he hasnt posted it on here yet.
Basically every app you install has permissions, some are things like access to device id, sms, mms, etc.
PDroid allows blocking access for any installed application to the following data separately, so you dont have to worry about any app having some strange permissions as you can just blok them:
Device ID (IMEI/MEID/ESN)
Subscriber ID (IMSI)
SIM serial (ICCID)
Phone and mailbox number
Incoming call number
Outgoing call number
GPS location
Network location
List of accounts (including your google e-mail address)
Account auth tokens
Contacts
Call logs
Calendar
SMS
MMS
Browser bookmarks and history
System logs
SIM info (operator, country)
Network info (operator, country)
For device ID, phone and mailbox number, SIM serial, subscriber ID and device location it also allows supplying custom or random values.

To be honest I agree with you. I also envy the iPhone crowd as they don't have the whole permissions think so most people aren't paranoid.
Whereas android 65% are paranoid 25% don't care and 10% actually understand the permissions.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA
Yep exactly, although Iphone is just not transparent about what they access lol
99% of the time there's a legitimate reason for each permission that an app has.
Don't get why people complain when a lot of people are rooted which in ways could be a worse security flaw than any permission an app has.

Most permissions are for adds, such as location, so they know to give you adds specific to the country and language you speak.

[Q] Problems in sending a large number of SMS messages in Jelly Bean

I've trawled through Google and XDA to find potentional fixes on various platforms for Jellybean but I can't seem to remove this on JB. I've tried used GoSMS and alas, no such luck.
I've also got SQLite Editor and inserted sms_outgoing_check_max_count into the secure settings.db and still no success. This is really frustrating me as I do text a lot and I can't seem to find a fix!
Help would be much appreciated.
I remember that on CM10 there was an option to increase that warning till it reaches 1000 under Settings > Security
I hope it comes to CM10.1 because that bugs me too.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
YES! Me too, thank-you for this thread.
I've tried the methods you talked about as well and nothing seems to work on the Nexus 4 version 4.2.1. (updated on Friday btw).
=(
Anyone have any success? I really don't want to use any other apps to text.
I've used GoSms but still had the same issue. The stock app won't send messages to groups which is super lame as I like the simplicity of it.

This is really frustrating. I sent a text to my group of friends at 7am in the morning and 10 hours later its still flagging the error and its unsent. I can't send any more texts :banghead:
Can someone please help?!

Anyone had any progress in resolving this?
Not in stock, as Google have done the right thing as to stop rougue apps sending SMSs in the background without your knowledge. OK, there should be the option to turn it off but tbh if you're sending that many SMSs why not just send an email instead? Or call? You'll get the conversation over in 5 minutes!!
My rule of thumb is more than 5 SMSs, call as it's quicker
I have large groups of friends and regularly text a lot on a weekly basis, calling and email is out of the question for such large numbers.
To justify this is madness I tell thee! Point being it's down right ridiculous and it has never been a problem before. I'm having to hit allow for 100+ text and its a huge problem
It takes best part of half a day to get these approved. I've tried everything out there still no luck.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Solution
I was able to use the max_outgoing... trick on my ICS phone but it stopped working on my JB phone. I don't know what's the trick but there is an app on Google Play that worked on my JB 4.2.2 phone - I'm not going to advertise it here but you can search for yourself. Bon chance!

Jokes aside, yes a cell phone would be better.
According to some, VOIP programs can have shotty call quality (for both you and the person you're speaking to). But if you're hell bent on it, there's an app that takes advantage of google voice (free) that has ads (pro version = no ads), and isn't that bad for just the ads. Link here
As for text, i believe many people use whatsapp but I've personally never used it, so I'm not sure how it works or if it will work in the way you're intending / interested in.
Hope that helps some.

This should not be impossible to do with an app. Even with tasker, it is possible to create an app (app factory) that will have a trigger (sms sent or sms received or phone call received or phone call placed), and send a text to a predetermined number with details of the sent/received text or the tel# called. And these text messages can be set to not be stored on the phone.
Yes, I think this will work, because I have set my phone up with such a tasker profile (created an app from that profile, and hid it from the app drawer) - so that if my phone is lost, I can send it a specific text message, and it will respond back to me (at a predetermined phone# with GPS coordinates of the phone), without leaving a trace of the message with GPS coordinates on my phone.
It should be possible to change this to intercept any sms message (incoming or outgoing), and send that message to another phone#
Or, she may just have access to your buddy's service provider's account details (log in to the website, see incoming/outgoing call details easily)
