I have a buddy who has a phone that was hacked. His GF has access to his Texts and Call logs. She even knows when he is resetting his phone as she sends him text messages telling him to make sure he does a good job wiping it... CRAZY
What is the root cause for this, how can it be prevented... and what exactly is she doing>?

I doubt any mod or program with or without root access can notify someone when they enter recovery to wipe their phone. Beside how would a phone be able send a sms while in recovery?

This should not be impossible to do with an app. Even with tasker, it is possible to create an app (app factory) that will have a trigger (sms sent or sms received or phone call received or phone call placed), and send a text to a predetermined number with details of the sent/received text or the tel# called. And these text messages can be set to not be stored on the phone.
Yes, I think this will work, because I have set my phone up with such a tasker profile (created an app from that profile, and hid it from the app drawer) - so that if my phone is lost, I can send it a specific text message, and it will respond back to me (at a predetermined phone# with GPS coordinates of the phone), without leaving a trace of the message with GPS coordinates on my phone.
It should be possible to change this to intercept any sms message (incoming or outgoing), and send that message to another phone#
Or, she may just have access to your buddy's service provider's account details (log in to the website, see incoming/outgoing call details easily)

Have him use titanium backup from the play store to back up his apps then have him factory reset his phone root stays then have him get his apps back through titanium backup.
Sounds kinda like cerberus. If your friend flashed the stock rom like mdc or mdl he should be able to remove the app. I know there is a setting to hide the app. And if he had root you can make the app non-removable. The only way to remove it is to flash the complete stock rom.

Most certainly not joking. I looked into his app drawer/app folder, and could not find any apps out of the ordinary. At first, I though maybe she was logged into his Facebook messenger account, so I uninstalled it... it made no difference.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't know you could do that. I really just want to know if I wipe data/cache via clockwork, will that erase any info leading to discovery of the use of my phone.
Basically, I work a job regulated by the federal government and they are extremely stringent on cell phone use (zero tolerance, even during lunch) but most everybody uses them. If something stupid happens, even if it's not my fault, they will confiscate and check my usage. If used, heavy fines are in order. If someone I'm working with makes a boo boo at work, can I wipe before the feds get their hands on it to rid my phone of its usage?

That is exactly what you need to do
Just know that information stored on a memory card will leave a trail behind much like a harddrive. To completely make it non-retrievable you would need to "scrub" the memory card. There are software available but it would mean you would have to remove the card and run it through the "scrub" via a computer. All that being said, they would really have to work to restore the erased information and I don't know what lengths your employer is willing to go to to catch you.
Great responses, folks! Thanks!

There's no voicemail app, because we had this thing back before smartphones, where you called a number, usually your own, and would get to a audio-prompt voicemail system...

Dowload SPC (free from the market) and blacklist 9016. Works like a champ.
I posted a flashable zip for Sprint VVM a while back which works fine on cm6.x. I use GV for my business line and Sprint VVM for my personal line on the same phone.
Sprint's VVM works just fine on CM6 for me-- no "phantom" VM notifications or anything. You do get text messages from 9016, but I configured Super Private Conversations to blacklist it awhile back and since then I've completely forgotten that was ever an issue.
That's so weird... I just had this problem this morning... after a little browsing, I found the APK for sprints visual voicemail. Simply install it from email and there you go! I'm running cm6 and the sprint vvm is working perfectly. I would definitely suggest that!

I signed into Google Voice on my phone to check out what it was, then boom...it takes over my phone. I hit do not disturb because I think it'd revert everything back but instead it blocked all incoming phone calls/texts. I'm finally able to use Google Voice without it taking over my device. After you've removed yourself from the software. You can go to the GV settings via the internet on your computer and just choose activate voice mail instead of choosing to integrate your device. Once this is done, open up GV on your device, and the first window allows you to skip the integration portion and allows you to just use it as Voicemail. BOOM!

Do you mean if "Sally" texts you, you want it to go someplace else so "your wife" doesnt see the text?
If so, try GoSMS.
It has a Private InBox that you can tag people so their messages go in there. You prepare the InBox with a special pattern for access so if "your wife" get a hold of the phone, she would have to figure out the private inbox deal and also know your pattern

I sincerely don’t like the idea of saying this online but this is my way of saying thank you to a friend who recommended a hacker for me W W W . BILLCYBERSOLUTION . C O M.. I hired this hacker for a very private and difficult matter of helping me hack my spouse's phone and social networks and some other personal profiles, This hacker far exceeded my expectations, He helped me get access into my spouse' s whatsapp, facebook, text messages, call logs etc faster and cheaper than I had imagined. The first time we spoke, we had a very long phone conversation and he gave me all options that he could think of to resolve my case, and he even recommended I try some options on my own before hiring him, which shows that he is honest, I decided to hire him and i'm so glad I did.. I never know that a cell phone can only be hacked remotely using the phone number until I was introduced to a hacker called Vlad who helped me hack into my wife's phone with just her cell phone number , Now I can track her phone location, her WhatsApp messages, Facebook and all her calls are recorded so I can listen to them. If you think your partner or spouse is cheating, I advise you to contact the hacker on WhatsApp to help you. +1 143 624 6215 or [email protected] gMail . com], tell him that Leonard told you about him. I'm fine using Android messages ? I hate how samsung messages looks honestly
Yeah, I simply don't like samsung messages because the screen lights up every time someone texts me. My kids have prying eyes. I know I can put a lock screen on, but it still lights up. I hate that.

You will be able to send uncompressed photos, videos and other large supported files thru the messaging app. It's like iMessage.

I'm very sorry for how this may sound..... BUT, you know you can change the "light- up" settings per each app in your settings right? Your phone doesn't have to light-up for each text message you receive, or any other app for that matter.
