So this is like my third week with my phone, i have never dropped it. Today all of a sudden my front speaker just stopped working just like that. I call people and no one can hear me, nor can i hear them.
What could be wrong?

If no one can hear you then your microphone has issues too. So either two pieces of hardware just randomly failed when you did nothing to the phone or something else is up. Does speaker phone work on a phone call? Are the voice features working on your phone, voice to text, voice search, etc.?

Well that's good it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue. Are you stock? Did you install any new app recently that interacts with the phone app, voip, etc? Here are some thing you can try, if the first doesn't work, try the second, and if that doesn't work the third.
- double check your phone app settings/rom settings and reboot
- Clear phone app data and cache in settings/apps and reboot(you'll lose your call log)
- wipe cache, dalvik cache and reflash whatever rom you're running

im on a stock rom, the only app i know i installed was beats + louder, i was hearing music today all day.
Then when i went to make a call this happened, already did a factory reset.
is there a way to like odin to start fresh?
You can do a full wipe and flash the factory image as described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312
I'm surprised the factory reset didn't fix it though.

It's your sim operator's fault.
Try calling your mobile operator, and ask for a replacement sim.

RMA it bro ...it's a dead bird
I have the same exact issue. The second I powered on the phone when I got it it made this crackling sound, like static. Notifications, calls, and music would go from fine to crackling. Then one day while listening to music it made this crackling sound ( I describe it as rice crispies popping, but way louder) then this static sound, then pop! No calls, no notifications, no music, no nothing. Rma'd on the 1st and I'm still waiting.

As of today my phone will link to my Bluetooth headset take calls but will refuse to play music or YouTube videos sound. My jambox now does the same as well....
The sound will transmit out of the ear piece on my smartphone rather than the Bluetooth device which is confirmed to be synced.
Has anyone else had this issue, and or does anyone know what I can do???

I did have this issue before on a previous phone. I think I was able to get it to work after rebooting the first time. The next time it happened, I ended up having to delete the device in the bluetooth settings and then re-discovered it. Have you tried that?

Wondering if you found a solution to this. I'm having the same problem. It started after the first update. I wiped the phone, tested apps until I found the one causing the problem (Robin voice assistant). Everything was fine until the most recent update and the problem has resurfaced. That makes me think it's one of the bloatware apps I can't remove without rooting. I haven't added any new apps since I resolved the problem the first time. Verizon swears there's nothing wrong with their update. Before I go through the complicated (for me) process of rooting the phone, I want to be sure there's not an easier fix.
Thoughts
Ive had my note 3 for 2 weeks, the phone came loaded with MJ7 firmware and i noticed some popping and cracking while streaming. Took the MJE update and still had the same symptons. Pretty frustrating... I deleted all my bluetooth devices, did a battery pull and rebooted, seems to have really improved. A 100% improvement? NO, but a 90% improvement. Might wanna give it a try if you havent. Hope it helps....

Greetings,
After spending a lot of time trying to find why the sounds coming through the ear speaker i connected the headset that came with the phone and when i connected it pop up on notification the music on the go ,i hit on it and i configure it. When i connect the head set to pause music and go to dialer for example and when disconnected it to pause music and go to home screen.
After that , i unplugged it and finally the sounds coming through speaker.
I hope that will help others also.
Cheers
Vatis
I've been wanting to try the new update but the sound issue is a major deterrent.
However after reading through all the posts it may be a problem with smat connect misbehaving. Some people have found removing smart connect fixed it (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51445037&postcount=69).
Seeing as this may be a solution I think I'll upgrade later today and then try this solution if I encounter the same problem.
Maybe more people can try this or if they have post what the result was?
no wonder when i enable back smart connect yesterday, this problem happen.
when i 1st install 4.4, i all the way disable smart connect, so didnt encounter this.
Reading all the posts about the sound issue i tried the easiest solution, uninstalled all the updates of Chrome (i used the most recent version), finally deactivated Chrome itself (using Dolphin now...)
No more sound sound problem since then.
I am not using Smart Connect at all.

The first thing i ever do in a rom is delete useless apps including chrome and smart connect.
And I am still having this problem almost daily. Pluging the headset playing something and disconnecting somehow helps.
I had the issue too, even after hard reseting and refreshing stock rom multiple times. The first thing I do is disable apps that I do not use and smart connect is one of them. I kept having the issue even with both chrome and smart connect disabled so I went back to 4.3

Hey guys,
this new android related issue where streaming music via bluetooth is a pain in the ass, as there are only two volume levels (absolutely loud and the opposite) is really annoying.
Is there any statement from google, if and when it'll be fixed or is there even a fix already?
I cannot imagine how sth like this got into a final release...
Stream every single day on a 45 minute commute via GPM and Spotify (Bluetooth to car) and never encountered this... Seems odd. I'll keep an eye out but haven't seen it yet!

is a common issue with 6.0.1 and several bluetooth devices (i have a creative roar box), just search the forums here.
I'm usually ok with blue tooth streaming to my car as well as to my Polaris speaker. No issue with my Huawei watch either that I'm aware of.

I'm having a ton of bluetooth issues with this phone sad as I *love* this phone..
But I listen to podcasts daily (while biking/running./in the car) and it keeps cutting out on me.. like 2-3 times/minute.. that's using the bluetooth in-car, as well as two different bluetooth headsets
BTW phone calls are fine - this is just A2DP bluetooth stereo..
on 6.0.1 stock (rooted)
-mark
Edit - seems worse when I'm near my wifi router; although still having issues w/ wifi off..
I had some issues with bluetooth audio cutting out after the phone had been sitting for a while. I added the media apps (music, youtube) to the not optimized list under battery settings and now it works fine.
stream every day from google music app to my vw golfs system via bluetooth and never cut out once or had any issues. Im stock non rooted 6.0.1
It's a wide issue have a look here https://code.google.com/p/android/i...ry Stars&groupby=&sort=&id=189188#makechanges for the people who are having the issue make a comment and Hit the star so Google understands what's going on as they have it as a low priority

No joy. I did your suggestion in conjunction with a few others and I'm still getting audio hits. Did the following to no avail:
- Uninstalled an app called "gasbuddy" which has been reportedly giving users issues with BT
- Messed with a few settings in Developer Options
- Cleared Cache
Did those listed above plus your suggestion and it still doesn't work properly. The only thing that is (albeit moderately) reliable is to completely unpair, forget device, repair, and update permissions. How frustrating every time I get in the car. Additionally, I've been getting SERIOUS BT phone problems. The caller on the line cannot hear me nearly at all. It's not my car's BT unit either, as I've troubleshooted with other phones. I have to switch to handset speakerphone. I feel like I'm in the 90s again. I'm massively bummed out since I spend a lengthy portion of time in my morning/evening commutes. BT is the one thing I can't do without. What a drag.

Does it work with other Bluetooth devices, or do you have other phones to test in your car? Might be an issue with the car or even something google/hauwei can fix under warranty.

Thanks for the reply but yeah that's what I meant when I said - "as I've troubleshooted with other phones."...
As to your other point, this is actually my second 6p. I RMA'd one a few weeks back for the same issue - I thought the same thing.
So frustrating. Like nailing jell-o to the wall.
I found what was causing my Bluetooth issues with my Chevy Malibu. The app weather bug was messing with my phone Bluetooth and battery drain. After I deleted the app my Bluetooth works fine and my phone now sleeps with doze correctly...

I was having the same issue, both with BT headphones, BT speaker, and my Android Wear watch. I tried factory resets on both phone and watch, and forgetting all BT connections and re-pairing to no avail. I Factory reset my phone again, and didn't add my Amber Weather Widget back to my home screen and all was well. As soon as I added it...Bt went to hell again. Deleted the app and now I'm having no problems. Not sure why a weather app would cause BT to act up, but it sure did in my case.
Uuuh. This is ultra frustrating. Using my smartphone for business and private stuff, so it has to re reliable. Hearing music is a pain in the ass, really. Doesn´t matter if I connect it to my Bose Soundlink Mini, my Philips NFC/Bluetooth Dongle...interruptions all over the place.
BTW: I don´t have any weather widget installed, so I have absolutely no clue what to try next. Delete all paired devices is a no go, really.
PS: And it´s not only interruptions - music kind of gains speed after those interruptions.

Yep,I have the same exact issue with phone calls, the caller cannot hear me at all and I switch to speaker. This is my second phone and they both did the same thing, connects, fine for a few seconds, then gets muted or something and have to switch to speaker. My notes never did this and it's super making me mad! I'm going to call google and try to return this phone. It's BT totally broken.
I might be giving up on the phone very soon. I'm bummed. I really dig it, but BT is such a HUGE part of my life at this point that it's impossible for me to own a phone that falters in that respect. Ugh. How disappointing.
I even signed up for the new Android N beta testing, hoping that would remedy the situation. Nope.
Anyone else getting their audio cut out? Before the latest update my phone was pretty flawless. Now certain apps the audio cuts out. Then cuts back in and sound likes it struggles to stay on then cuts back out. Now this just happened to a Facebook video I was watching. This never happened before. I'm not using head phones and I haven't tried using them this is happening to the phones speaker.
Is Sammy aware of this issue?

i've had this problem. I reset and it went away then came back after a software update. I would love to know what that update did and how to roll back
Well I'm back, and I got some bad news.
I did an hard reset, (went into recovery and deleted cache as well etc)
The 1st day it was fine. And now just a few hours ago, it started again. It's really bugging the he'll out of me.
This has to be software related. My phone was flawless before this last update.

Having the same issue on my AT&T Galaxy S7. It doesn't happen on Bluetooth, and I haven't noticed with headphones, but it cuts out all the time through the speakers. It'd be nice to find a solution to this issue for it is causing several issues such as the sound cutting out during my alarm going off for work. Ended up an hour late due to the issue. ?
Anyone find a true resolution. I've read many articles and still no luck. Factory wipe, partition wipe, safe mode, developer mode.. I've tried it all
I share your pain. I have the same problems too.
When I try to use the phone for a conference call, the volume drops but they can hear me. When I am listening to YouTube, the volume drops. When I try to use the phone in Speaker mode, the volume drops too. No Fix and very discouraged.
