I've done some searching but am thinking about purchasing Chromecast and just wondered if anyone else has used it with the Note 3 while rooted and can confirm it works. Also does it matter if your running a custom rom?
It works with or without a custom ROM

Works on my rooted and ROMed Tab 10.1. Works on my rooted and ROMed Note II. Can't imagine it wouldn't work on a rooted and ROMed Note 3.
Aside: Best Buy will have Chromecast for $29.99 on Black Friday.

Cool thanks for the feedback. Have you happened to try a mhl adapter with your note yet?
Just picked up Chromecast at Best Buy and Google is giving $6.00 play store credit with the purchase.

I got it 2 weeks ago, came with 3.1
but I've allready rooted him and now I'm waiting for CM9 ROM or another ICS ROM.
Which one do you have? Wifi or Wifi + 3G ?
You'll love it even more with CM9/ICS ... all residual lag is gone
I just got one for Christmas too. Came with 3.1 but there was an update for 3.2 that I did. Now rooted on stock from with OC kernel.

I just bought mine yesterday. $388 Boxing Day deal
Running 3.1 atm, waiting on the 3.2 update
Hows your case? I'm still looking for one
And actually how do you determine the manufacture date of the tab based on the 5th "Letter" in the serial number?
I picked one up for myself Monday as a trade in from a Kindle Fire and I am so happy!
The price difference well worth it and since I was able to put the money from returning the Kindle Fire I was able to grab a 32gig tab, simply awesome!
mum picked one up today (i went with her obviously) for 439 at Costco, and it was bundled with the official samsung leather sleeve... wifi only here
90day no questions asked return policy and 2 year warranty... not a half bad deal in my opinion
Is yours a Rogers or wifi Tab? If its Rogers you can update Android but if wifi only then Samsung have yet to release 3.2 for some reason

Wi-Fi model.
Yeah after reading into it, realized that the Canadian Wi-Fi models didn't receive the update yet
Got my wi-fi model today, rooted and custom rom on within 15 minutes.
Got mine on the 23rd. Am loving it so far. Not sure if I am going to keep it though. I also have a Transformer Prime on order that will get here sometime the first week in February.
I want to compare them side by side but I only have 30 days to return the GTab that I picked up from Sam's Club. I may return it and then repurchase one or with the problems that I have heard about with the Prime so far, I may just keep the Tab.
What should I do? What should I do? Hell, maybe I will just keep them both or sell one later on ebay or CL.

The tab gets way better once you change to a custom rom.

True! I'd recommend task's for smoothness, funtionality and stability.
First thing you want to do is root this bad boy and install a custom ClockworkMod recovery, from that you can make a nandoid backup of your stock rom, then flash away. Id recommend you try tasks rom beacuse it is still close to the stock feel plus its fast, stable, and loaded with features. Enjoy!
How to root samsung galaxy tab 10.1:

I'd keep the galaxy tab. With the transformer prime's problems I'd wait for new tablets to come out like the nexus tab or ipad3
I have a brand new Samsung AllShare Wireless Hub sitting here (bought for my Note 2, which I'm selling). Before I open it, does anyone know if it will work with the Miracast feature on the Nexus 4?
Hmm, looks like it may work:
http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/19/wi-fi-alliance-announces-first-miracast-certified-devices/
You can get the wireless hub from Samsung for 50% off (look for the thread in the Note 2 forum). Time to try it! Not bad for $49 shipped!
Edit: well, it works fine with the Note 2, but the Nexus 4, while pairs successfully, does not display anything on the screen.
Wonder if there is a firmware update needed for the Nexus 4? Or wonder if Samsung gimped it to only work with Galaxy phones. I hope the latter isn't the case because Miracast is a standard (like bluetooth) and should not be locked down to specific branded devices.
I'll keep tinkering with it. It pairs just fine, but nothing displays at all
So, has anyone successfully used Miracast yet? I'm debating on keeping the Samsung dock in hopes there is an issue with 4.2, since the dock works fine with the Note 2.
Any chance you can post a link to the thread with the hub for $49. Thank you.

Allshare is DLNA technology. Miracast is wireless mirroring. Two different things. Nexus 4 won't work with dlna products.

Why does it pair then? If they are different protocols I would not think it would successfully pair. It shows up in the pairing menu identically as it does with the Note 2...

I tried installing AllShare on my stock N10. It was a no-go. Will report back after I try it with the Paranoid ROM.
I was also interested in this. Either in this, or another product that would allow me to display my screen on the TV wirelessly.
If there already was a giant thread on this I do apologize but I couldn't find it.
Anyway I currently have a Note II but don't use any of the S-Pen features and actually came to dislike the size of the phone. So if there is anyone out there that did make the switch: is it worth selling this Note and buying the S4 outright?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
There are some people that swear the Note 2 is better. I have both in my home. Used both side by side for days. Just the size of the Note 2 alone makes me gag. I love my S4. No comparison in my OPINION. That's just me. Just the fluidity and functions alone are so much better. The screen is absolutely brilliant. Once custom roms come along it'll be nuff said.

I Upgraded to the S4 from the Note 2. The issues i had with the note were that even with its size i still could not use it as an e-reader/tablet like i wanted too, i also did not use the spen nearly as much as it was made for. With that said i had no reason to stay with a larger device. On top of the screen and camera on the S4 i am able to carry it much more comfortable in my pocket because of the lightweight slim frame.
Thanks guys, the unfortunate thing is I'm on Verizon and I'm probably going to be looking at a couple months before they can crack the bootloader and custom ROMs are actually available.

Bootloader is already cracked. We're all patiently waiting for you Verizon guys so all of us can get some custom roms.

I have a brand new note 2 barely used interested in a trade?
I sold my 7 month old Note 2 & bought this AT&T I337. I love the S4, but I wish I'd got one that doesn't have the locked bootloader.
I switched from the note 2. The only reason i really did it was because someone offered me $400 for my note 2. I had an upgrade so I pocketed $200. Other than that.. I don't think the upgrade is really significant. Especially when the note 2 gets most of the S4 functions.
Can anybody tell that Samsung Gear VR R322 works on note 4 or note? I want to purchase it for my note 4 but i'm confused whether it works on note 4 or not

The new black Gear VR works with the Note 4.
Bought it for the Note 7 and with the recall was about to return it.
Replaced the usb-c base with the included microusb adapter base
and try with my Note 4 (glad I Keep it) and it fits and works.
Will prompt you to unplug the phone and download and install the Oculus soctware.
Of course you need a stock ROM or a custom ROM with gear VR support.
On the box, all recent Samsung flagships smatphones are mentioned as supported less the Note 4..
