I tried installing AllShare on my stock N10. It was a no-go. Will report back after I try it with the Paranoid ROM.
I was also interested in this. Either in this, or another product that would allow me to display my screen on the TV wirelessly.

I have been looking at the specs for this as my first tablet and one thing i saw was that there is no HDMI out ... Now this seems like a pretty important feature that i really think it should include. so if it doesn't ... well that'd suck
No HDMI out on the 10.1v.
I don't know about the 10.1 though.
-EDIT-
It may support HDMI out through the proprietary port in the future, since it can output a video signal from there.
Are we talking about 10.1v or the new one?
I haven't really looked in to 10.1v too much but as far as i can remember it did not have HDMI out.
10.1 got MHL standard port that got USB 3.0 and HDMI capability. I would have prefered HDMI out but this is not at least total propieraty. Got a actually check how much exactly are there existing stuff for the MHL.
I think i would go 10.1 not V ... also would have to go the ipad route and get some weird adapter ?
As per the specs, even the 10.1 doesn't have HDMI out

As you can't use HDMI, mini-HDMI right out of the box, yes will most probably need some adapter.
Though MHL is just not some proprietary thingie thought by the great heads of Samsung so hopefully we would see cheap docks, cables or adapters.
Here's wiki page about the MHL.
I'm kind of a between with this. The port itself looks like a great thing, but it's just so new that there doesn't seem to be much stuff out for it yet.
Well, the MHL will work out fine for me since the evo 3d also has the MHL port

HDMI/Charging Dock
Back in March at the Samsung Event at CTIA Orlando one of the accessories mentioned was an HDMI/Charging dock. The 10.1 Tab will not have a HDMI port. Only port on the unit will be microSd or SIM slot when 3G version is released.
Another accessory mentioned was the USB/SD card reader adapter.
I guess we will have to wait until May 24th with the Samsung event in NYC.
Here's the video of the keynote address by Samsung.

IDK About the 24th, I feel like this will have something to do with a Kindle tablet or a new Nook Color. But I'd love to have more on the 10.1
EDIT: Now that I think about it, won't that be the day before the pre-order opens? Most people don't know about the 10.1, so it wouldn't surprise me if Sammy tried to get tons of press for the 10.1, along with launching a new TV campaign after the event. I just tweeted Samsung USA about possibly having more on the 10.1
EDIT 2: Re-Watched the video, he mentions an accessory that adds HDMI out.
10.1 v has the same connector as the Galaxy Tab 7" . For the galaxy tab 7" you can get a dock with a HDMI out. Maybe a similar dock will be made available for the 10.1v
I have a brand new Samsung AllShare Wireless Hub sitting here (bought for my Note 2, which I'm selling). Before I open it, does anyone know if it will work with the Miracast feature on the Nexus 4?
Hmm, looks like it may work:
http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/19/wi-fi-alliance-announces-first-miracast-certified-devices/
You can get the wireless hub from Samsung for 50% off (look for the thread in the Note 2 forum). Time to try it! Not bad for $49 shipped!
Edit: well, it works fine with the Note 2, but the Nexus 4, while pairs successfully, does not display anything on the screen.
Wonder if there is a firmware update needed for the Nexus 4? Or wonder if Samsung gimped it to only work with Galaxy phones. I hope the latter isn't the case because Miracast is a standard (like bluetooth) and should not be locked down to specific branded devices.
I'll keep tinkering with it. It pairs just fine, but nothing displays at all
So, has anyone successfully used Miracast yet? I'm debating on keeping the Samsung dock in hopes there is an issue with 4.2, since the dock works fine with the Note 2.
Any chance you can post a link to the thread with the hub for $49. Thank you.

Allshare is DLNA technology. Miracast is wireless mirroring. Two different things. Nexus 4 won't work with dlna products.

Why does it pair then? If they are different protocols I would not think it would successfully pair. It shows up in the pairing menu identically as it does with the Note 2...

I've done some searching but am thinking about purchasing Chromecast and just wondered if anyone else has used it with the Note 3 while rooted and can confirm it works. Also does it matter if your running a custom rom?
It works with or without a custom ROM

Works on my rooted and ROMed Tab 10.1. Works on my rooted and ROMed Note II. Can't imagine it wouldn't work on a rooted and ROMed Note 3.
Aside: Best Buy will have Chromecast for $29.99 on Black Friday.

Cool thanks for the feedback. Have you happened to try a mhl adapter with your note yet?
Just picked up Chromecast at Best Buy and Google is giving $6.00 play store credit with the purchase.
Hi I have given my grandfather my old galaxy note 10.1 and he wants to be able to share media from the tablet screen to the TV will chromecast work for this?

same question........Has anyone actually sent their 10.1 (2012) screen to their TV via Chromecast?
The literature indicates this should work. If so, how well does it work?
Any info appreciated.
Hi... Ihavethe s5 and the N8010.
Works for phone but not the tablet, the option isn't there in the chromecast app.
Just get an allshare dongle. Its the same premise, however the allshare can mirror everything on screen. Not just youtube and netflix. They should be about 50 on amazon
I use an allshare at home and we use them in every classroom at my school (every student and staff member has a galaxy note 10.1). At home I use my allshare with a S4, note 3, note 4, galaxy note 10.1 2012 edition, galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition, galaxy tab 2 7.0 and nexus 7 they all work out of the box. Just like z31k said it mirrors the whole device not just certain apps. I went to best buy and had them price match amazon to get the price down to $50 that way I didn't have to wait for shipping

Samsung's Allshare Cast dongle is easiest option but it is possible to get Chromecast doing that too. Screencast/-mirroring option is available in Chromecast by default only for small set of devices but it actually works in many other devices too including Note 10.1 (2012). You can find app from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/har...experimental-enable-mirroring-device-t2812193 that enables screencast in all devices. It works fine in Note 10.1 but requires rooting. How well mirroring itself works depends on how fast your wifi router is. If you use mirroring to stream local media from tablet to TV it works quite ok but streaming HD video from internet to tablet and simultaneously mirroring it from tablet to Chromecast does not work so well for me.
I got the Gear 1 when I got my Note 3 and I just upgraded to the Nexus 6P. I have tried connecting my Gear to the Nexus 6P and it pairs via bluetooth but I cannot get Gear Manager to see the watch. So, does anyone know if it works with it or only Samsung smartphones? May be time for a smart watch upgrade also
Love know this as well, please keep me posted. I'm considering going to the 6p from the note4 , how are you liking it?
Same is happening for the Gear S, basically my watch is just a watch for now. With it bluetooth-connected, all my calls to my phone go directly to the watch.

I really like the Nexus 6P...one big big difference coming from the Note 3 is I get great signal on the Nexus 6P. I can actually use my phone in places my Note 3 would never work. That alone was worth the upgrade to me.
As far as I know the only samsung watches compatible with non Samsung devices are the gear live and the gear s2. You can connect the gear s via Bluetooth but it will act like a Bluetooth headset.

What I was afraid of. Well, guess Santa will be bringing me a new smartwatch
Don't get the gear s2. (;
