Ok, I did something really really stupid....
I had CM loaded and used the latest TWRP. I was checking out Clockwork mod, and without even thinking I tried to clear the cache. Well, this locked up my phone and cleared out all my phone data. Odly enough, all my apps are still installed and settings but looks like the SDCARD data is gone and sound doesnt work.
I cannot copy anything to the phone and I need to somehow clear this up and get my phone rooted and functioning again. Ideas???
Thanks!

I have a backup of every cept for say a few pictures. So not worried about that. Just want to get my phone going and if that means reverting back to stock first, so be it. I just need things to be working soon.
Would clearing the cache with Clockwork while the ROM Was flashed with TWRP mess things up like this?
No you cleared more than that on accident..lol..well I would revert back to stock and go from there

Well, was able to boot to stock recovery, reset, boot to Clockwork and then push a Clockwork ROM to the device. I then was able to get in to my phone. All data appears to be there as well so that is cool. Odd and weird.
Odd. Clearing cache wont erase your data right?

Hey guys,
Decided i want to flash the franco kernel on my N4 which is currently completely unrooted and stock. So i need to unlock the bootloader, root and install a custom recovery before i can do anything. Just a couple quick questions first.
- When i unlock the bootloader, will i lose absolutely everything? Including photos, videos etc?
If so, does this also mean that my titanium backup file will be deleted too? - Im guessing ill have to move this file onto my PC first to avoid losing my backup.
I did have another question too... hmm maybe ill remember in a bit. But yeah, any clarification with the above would be awesome.
Cheers guys! Im not new to this, ive rooted my N1 and SGS2 in the past but they both had SD's!
Cheers, Jim.

i believe franco kernel is only flashable via fastboot or adb
When you unlock your boot loader it will wipe everything including pictures and videos. As for titanium backup it should restore with your Google account when you set your phone back up again.

Ill worry about flashing franco kernel when i get to it. For now i just want to unlock the bootloader and get root.
When it comes to flashing the franco kernel ill probably just download the franco app from the app store. You can flash using that i believe?

Yes you can flash using the Franco app providing you have a custom recovery
everything in your storage will be deleted. just move everything to your computer before unlocking the bootloader, then move it back after.
Yes everything is wiped.. but you can also back up all your important things anyway onto your pc and just copy them back onto your phone when you have finished.
Awesome. Cheers guys.
Plan on using clockworkmod recovery as ive used this before on all my other devices.
If i have any more problems ill let you know on here.

Yes, everything will be wiped from the device. Including the internal SD Card. And I also recommend using TWRP, installable via Goo Manager app.

All done. No problems at all. Just restoring everything now.
Now to resist the urge to flash a custom ROM. What do people tend to run these days? I want something that looks as close to stock as possible but improves speed and performance? Cyanogenmod still a good shout?
Cheers!

All of the Roms are pretty good and plenty fast. All of the Roms are fast , but if you like to change your app DPI and also get full screen mode with PIE controls then I suggest paranoid android.
Edit:You don't have to use a custom ROM if you don't want the those features, your kernel will decide how fast your device is. If you want you can stay on stock with Franco kernel and get great battery life and speed.
Hmm ill stick with stock on franco kernel for a while and see how it goes. No doubt ill give in eventually and try something new.
Currently having issues using Clockworkmod Carbon backup/restore app. I used this to backup all my apps/data before iunlocked my bootloader (I would normally use Titanium but that required root).
So i backed everything up. Took the backup file called 'Carbon' from my phone and placed it onto my PC desktop.
Unlocked bootloader, rooted, flashed CWM recovery, rebooted. All good!
Redownloaded the carbon app. Placed the backup folder from my PC onto the phone into the new 'Carbon' folder created when the app launches for the first time. I go to restore my apps and it says 'No backups were found on your internal storage'. Even though i just put them there! Its like the app is no longer looking in the same place to find the backup folder.
Its not my apps im annoyed about so much, but mostly my user data and sms messages and stuff.
Anyone have a fix for this?
Cheers

Any luck with the backups, I'm having the fame problem.
On my N4, this went OK with Carbon!
On my N7, it was not OK, I got the same message. Just emailed that address. Did you not get any reply?

I have one idea of my own.. the device id has probably changed. TitaniumBackup usually fixes this on my N4 if I reinstall but i didn't have this on my N7 as it was not rooted.
Could that be it? If so, how can it be changed .. (and how do you know what it was)?
Before I played around with the CM 12 nightly I took 2 backups of the stock rom, one from online nandroid and one from clockwork. I tried to restore on of them from clockwork today and the restore goes fine but when the stock room boots everything crashes.. i.e every app. Any ideas?
Note that my backups are on my external sd card.

I had the same issue, although I am using twrp, move the backup to the internal sd card then restore from there, it should work fine then, always flash and restore off the internal sd card. You can store on the SD but move them to internal when u want to use them. Learned this after some frustrating moments dealing with the same issue. For whatever reason flashing off the external card is wonky for me.
I have encountered the same issues, I use TWRP recovery. I've found that if you do a repair from the wipe menu on data, system, etc - that it will solve restoration issues. Especially if you run into the internal storage invisibility bug or images misbehaving.

I don't think doing the "Repair" wipes anything, but back up just to be sure
Its in the advanced wipe menu, click on 1 partition at a time, e.g. Data then click repair.

Thanks for the tip, I don't have issues with my internal just my external but if I do I'll give that a shot
Also, you can flash a CM11 ROM, allow it to boot, skip set up, then go back into recovery and restore your nandroid. This always works for me. I don't know why, but I can't go from CM12 to stock TW without a full system crash. But if I leapfrog to CM11, then to the nandroid, everything is okay. Who knows. This is with TWRP, using the external SD.
i have the same problem and the only way is flashing your rom stock via odin and then you can install your nandroid again without problem doing the respetive wipes.

Hello, it seems as if my internal storage has unmounted/is missing the last thing I think I was doing before I encountered this problem was either installing a custom boot animation, or spoofing my devices model & Mac address. I tried restoring default Mac and other device information, and even running some commands in terminal emulator and nothing worked. Any help would be much appreciated.

You can solve most problems by simply flashing stock rom. You should probably get twrp installed on your sm-t350 to get nandroid backups.

Back up of your device. When in doubt you flash in twrp. You can back all data. You can Google for more info. It's pretty simple too

So I made my nandroid backup, and after the backup was complete I tried to reboot to my device and it went straight back to recovery. I tried restoring the backup i just made but then upon trying to reboot, it said "No OS installed, are you sure you want to reboot?", I clicked yes, and instead of it going into a boot loop or booting to my device it went straight back into recovery. I used the TWRP file manager and all my files and my SD card is still present so no operating system clearly isnt true. got any suggestions?
Also i dont have access to my computer for the next couple of hours

Your files are not on the same partition as the OS. If twrp says you don't have an OS then you've wiped it. It will boot to recovery if you have no OS.
Install the stock firmware with odin.
I have rooted and unlocked bootloader. Almost sounds like you flashed an incorrect or corrupt kernel .. I had this happen once before and fixed it by re-flashing a stock, rooted RRU back to the phone and starting over

Take a look at this link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/soft-bricked-im-dumb-t3378838
I've bricked my phone more than once.. You can also try booting into TWRP, erasing EVERYTHING, and reinstalling everything through your SD card (You must copy the ROM to your SD card after formatting the data and reboot your phone back to TWRP again) which has also worked for me. Honestly your best bet is to search around on here and do your homework before taking a swing at trying to fix the problem. You don't want to brick it to the point of no return which is possible, but honestly I've been modifying and flashing phones before Androids even hit the market and I've never had a permanent brick. There's always a way

ugh i will try that next. if this damn phone continues to have issues i will only stick to nexus and pixel devices.
I used the Moto G5 toolkit I found on here to root my phone (it's been forever since I last rooted, and it seemed like a simple, fast method), and I backed up my phone via the android backup option. It saved as a .ab file, is it possible to restore my phone to what it was before restoring/rooting last night (pre-root)? Skimming around, it's looking unlikely. Is there any way to get my phone somewhat back to what it was before? Unfortunately my grandma was signed into my account on an old tablet I gave her, and her stuff backed up via google, so I'm out of luck in that department.. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
