(Q) Problems with picture frame widgets on Nexus 7 stock launcher - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having issues with multiple picture frame widgets on my homescreens with the stock 4.3 or 4.4 launcher. This problem started when I was on 4.3 and carried over to 4.4. I put picture frames with different pics of my family on my homescreens. Recently I had to set my homescreens up again and when I go to place the widget on my homescreen it disappears. The picture frame is there with no picture. I've tried multiple picture frames from the play store and nothing is working. The stock picture frame does not work either. If I use apex or nova as a launcher the picture frames will work. It is only happening with the stock launcher and it's getting to be annoying. Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone have ideas or suggestions?

Bump. At this point im going to change my question since I haven't had any body reply. Has anyone had trouble with widgets in general disappearing from homescreems when trying to place them there? That could at least point in the right direction on trying to fix my problem.

Using the widget for picture album on my home screen without any issue. This is the stock launcher from android 4.4
build, KRT16S. The widget remained on the home screen after multiple reboots and shutdowns.

Trebuchet question

I wonder why trebuchet always sets my wallpaper with a bigger image than stock, its soo annoying I wish I could use all these tablet mode mods more often but I don't like how trebuchet always makes the wallpaper bigger and depending on the image size blurry as well, I tried replacing with apex but that launcher does rotate smooth in app drawer it stays black for a couple seconds then shows the apps, so does anyone know why trebuchet does that?

Try Nova Launcher. I don't know why Trebuchet is doing that. It never happened on my N7.

Lost scrolling wallpaper

Hello.
Just yesterday I noticed I am just not able to set scrolling wallpaper. The wallpapers are same as they were.. The resolution etc all is the same as it was... All these landscape wallpapers were working fine 2 days back But now I am just not able to set wallpaper for scrolling.
This is how I get to place it as wallpaper now(pic attached). Any idea what went wrong?

This happened to me once while using a new launcher I was testing.
Try uninstalling any launchers you have besides the stock one. And then reboot.

Yeah I installed a launcher on a friend's recommendation and trust me, i immediately uninstalled it. I simply LOVE stock android.
However, I realized the problem was due to that and rebooted the device. This actually solved the problem.
Thank you for replying dude. This will help others.

Unlimited Scrolling

Hey all
I've recently got the S4 (on EE of course!) but i was just wondering if anybody knew about a way to stop the unlimited scrolling on the app draw / go back to page one upon closing the app draw without a launcher if possible?
After coming from a DHD rooted with JB it's a bit odd not being at the start every I open the app draw.
Thanks.
I don't think you can change it. Try using another launcher. In Nova Launcher you can set it any way you like it

HELP. Why am I seeing black line on wallpaper?

Hi. Can anyone tell me the reason for the black lines on my home screen??
It's very irritating to see them..

I don't see any black lines. May be because images are downsampled. Can you post problematic parts of screenshots, or full-sized images?
Is it just on your wallpaper or always over your whole screen?

If the lines are on your screen, so they cant obviously appear in screenshots, post pictures taken from other camera.

Happens to me sometimes when I set wallpapers. Just pick the same one and set it again.
Assuming it's the wallpaper and not your screen, you need to maximize the area set by the wallpaper as large as you can. You may be a pixel or two off, so when the wallpaper attempts to repeat itself to the next home screen, it fills the gaps in with black pixels. I had this happen on a wallpaper I had set, took me a few tries to finally get it to repeat properly.
I have the same wallpaper

They appear only on some wallpaper. And they are exactly at points where I crop the wallpaper while selecting it.
I had installed QuickPick and Crop Wallpaper and later uninstalled it. Can this be a possible reason?
I am running Paranoid ROM with Hybrid Properties set to Stock UI.

It is the reason, if the issue is now gone

Try an app called Wallpapyrus or something from Play. I never had to crop my pictures again. Guess that should help with the cropping problem if you hated cropping pics like me. XD

Even after uninstalling the apps didn't help. I'm still those lines..
