Anyone having issues with both cell and data? It seems it is nationwide and from the responses from Sprint to some peoples Tweets it seems like they are playing dumb as always.

If by that you mean it often displays 'no service', That's because the signal display is more accurate.
Where I would usually have no bars but still be told I had a signal that didn't respond, now it just says 'No Service'.

At home I have no phone signal - this itself is not a real problem, but what *is* a pain is that when I venture out the phone continues to hunt for a signal and fails to lock on. Each and every time I have to switch the phone off and back on again, at which point it happily locks on, displaying (normally) a very strong signal. Is there anythign I can do to avoid having to switch off and on again? Thanks in advance.
lost signal..
I don't think you can do much about it unfortunately. When a contact is lost with the mast you often cannot re-connect until you restart your device which re-establishes a connection. I've noticed this occasionally myself, it's not a fault with your phone..
Thanks for the reply. That's confirmation of what I suspected, but I can't agree it's not the fault of the phone - every other (non-smart) phone I've had has quite happily locked on to any new, valid signal it finds, including when changing country!
signal loss..
You are probably right on the non-smartphone issue but what I meant was that I don't think it's an actual fault with your phone more like the norm for smartphones to do this. Sometimes they can get confused when you are in the centre of 3 masts causing a delay in receiving text-messages.
Ah yes, I see what you mean - no problem with my "instance" of a smart-phone, but rather a weakness of the whole "class" of smart-phone. Once again, thanks for taking the time to write and confirm my suspicions.

Does anyone have this issue? Sometimes for no apparent reason when I try to call someone, either immediately or after a short lag the dial attempt cancels with a call ended message, then after some time or if I keep trying it'll eventually work.
Had this issue on a previous handset so not specific to the N1, and I think I even had it on windows mobile so don't think it's an android thing, possibly the only common link is HTC. Or maybe it's a network issue. Had a few bars of signal, tried restarting the phone, different number etc
I have the same problem. Sometimes I am able to make calls but once this problem appears the only way to correct it is to reboot the phone and run Android again. I'm using the Froyo 30/08/2010 build on Rhodium.
It's a reception issue.
I sometimes have that areas with low reception (e.g. downtown with skyscrapers):
first I have no reception on the n1, then I get reception back, often 4 bars supposedly but for the next 2-5 minutes it will not make a call (drops immediately) or connect to the internet.
(other phones on the same network have no such issues, never even loosing reception in the first place, but that must be part of the conspiracy to bad-mouth the n1, since the jesus phone has no reception problems)

Just happened to me again.
I've been having issues for the last few days. At work i have low signal, but in the areas where the signal is good, data and voice have been good. But lately, even in good areas, my data just kicks in and out. The phone has 4/5 bars lit up, but it doesn't say 3G or "H" next to it. What does that mean? Data suddenly starts working sometimes even in areas where 2 mins earlier it wasn't. I did a factory reset , but still same issue. Any ideas why my internet has been wonky lately? Thanks
Cross posted to the Development board. That's one way to get banned from the board.
Seems I'm experiencing problems along with friends. Mid phone call I will get interrupted by a message from Verizon regarding invalid phone number something or other and the call is ended thereafter. It was sorta comical at first -- now it's annoying.
I don't even know where to begin =/. My signal has been on crack for the past few weeks. I think I've been on 1x 40% of the time I've been awake today.
Oops, accidental thanks. Have you tried the advice (DMU rest) in the 3G thread here?
Does the airware work with aosp roms? ive noticed my signal gets really bad running any type of aosp at my house (always had bad reception) few months ago sprint sent us an airware, i flashed tommys sense rom and i noticed i get much better signal and the mobile broadband light is blinking on the airwave, when on aosp no blinking light and down to 1 bar sometimes no 3g
My phone connects to my Airrave fine on MIUI - that is, when the Airrave is working. It's a POS.
No rom works well with the airave. Its a piece of garbage that deserves to burn.
First, your better off WITHOUT it. It basically only makes your phone beep 3 times when starting or receiving a call, steals bandwith from your internet, and gives your phone a placibo 4-6 bar signal depending on how close you are.
OCCASIONALLY it will help your call quality. But it will screw up your texts. Be warned, when you have it on and try texting people and get a "message not sent" notify, pull the plug on your airave instantly and make it restart or keep it off or else the person your texting gets 5-40 of the exact same message. It pisses everyone off.. When the issue happens like then, restarting it sometimes fixes the issue for maybe 30mins to 5 hours?

+1 I thought the resending the same text over and over was fixed but its not. So when I see its sending the same text over and over, I have to put the phone in airplane mode, use Google voice to text. And the second thing that annoys me is the gps will say you are somewhere where your not. Like my airave puts me in west Chicago when I live about an hour or so away.
The only real reason I use it is so when I'm flashing a rom I get lazy and don't want to put in my WiFi password so I use the 3G haha.
