The usual answer applies as it does for any device:
It will be supported if someone picks up the device and chooses to support it.
That said, given its specifications (especially the display resolution) - very unlikely.
Thanks

English is not my native language, so....there could be some problems with understanding. Excuse me...
As i could add....all users of this phone need custom ROM, because there is NO castom for this device....no cyanogenmod and so on,...we just use 4.1.2 (stock) without any chance to update(((((((((
The biggest problem is the display resolution. No AOSP derivative I know of has ever supported a device with resolution that low since Jellybean.
Second might be what CPU it has - Install Android System Info from the Play Store, go to System->CPU and tell me what it says for:
CPU implementer
CPU architecture
CPU variant
CPU part
CPU revision
Hardware
(these will all be together in the information)
This is all.
Cpu implementer 0x41
Cpu architecture 7
Cpu variant 0x2
Cpu part 0xc09
Cpu rev 9
Hardware rhea_ss_nevis
I see 4.3 on galacy ace. As i know
..it has the same screen...
It will greate if omni will help us to feel all new goods of android 4.4. As i know it should be better for devices with low memory and so on. So..please help us.
Excuse me for my bad english...

Not useful.
CWM is <1% of the work needed to bring up a device even when that device has a currently supported chipset. CWM is also reasonably chipset-independent - as long as the manufacturer didn't implement a really screwy framebuffer driver it is fairly easy to port. 90% of the time it can be "ported" using Recovery Builder.
The BCM21654G in the Fame is not supported by any opensource firmware project in existence and Broadcom is notoriously unfriendly towards open source. Supporting this chip would likely be even more difficult than supporting MTK devices has been.
So....you mean that we will not see omni castom rom on our devices((((((?

None of us own a device. Blind development is impossible.
If support for the device is to come from anyone, it will be from someone who already owns the device.
That's the power of open source - the power is in YOUR hands.

Fearless testers or not, blind development doesn't work except for very rare cases (such as a device that is already entirely brought up and is 99% identical to a supported device).
For a raw bringup, the build/upload/wait for testers cycle pretty much kills any possibility of success - anyone who thinks they have any chances of success doing an initial bringup blind are deluded. It's time consuming enough to do build/flash/test...

Not me. Two reasons:
1) I'm already finding myself with not enough time to handle Omni leadership and the devices I already own - ESPECIALLY not for a device that is a completely unsupported platform in any AOSP-derivative project. I am not aware of ANYONE that is supporting a Broadcom-based device so far.
2) Unless I see evidence of serious attitude changes from Samsung, I'm done with them, the only Samsungs I'm supporting are my old exynos4 clunkers and (as many exynos4 users will tell you), those devices are dead last on my list.

you phone works. It's software might not be up to date, but so is it's hardware. When buying a phone you already have to factor in the compatibility to custom ROMs.
I can understand that this is not what you wanted to hear, but unfortunately that is how it is.

Ok here is a quick round up of the news that is currently available on this device. For anyone who doesnt know the wizard looks like it is going to be the follow up to the magician. Size wise it is almost identical except the wizard looks like it is going to be a touch thicker than the magician. However this is forgiven as this extra thickness is due to the addition of a sideways slide out keyboard (see pic) This will please many owners of the magician who have found text input a little to fiddly on this device. It is rumoured that the device will be made available in a number of different versions i.e. some with a camera some without etc. However it is generally thought that the specs for the various models run along the lines of a 200MHz OMAP processor (hmm i hope that is quicker than it sounds?! ), GPRS/EDGE, built in WiFi and Bluetooth. The scrren size is 240x320 and it runs on WM5!
It is already expected that the device will be sold under various different brandings. Many of the pics floating around the internet show the device branded as Qtek 9100. It is also almost 100% confirmed that orange will offer the wizard as the SPV M600 and it could hit the shelves as early as september!!! No doubt the other opperators will also offer the phone under various different names!
Phone Scoop reports that the HTC Wizard has passed FCC certification, and the submitted version has 850 and 1900MHz support which is good news for those in the us.
Pics are courtesy of WindowsMobile.no and there are many more available HERE
And there is a video available HERE which is also thanks to those good people at WindowsMobile.no

PhoneArena has an article on the CDMA implying a fast Intel processor, not the slow TI everyone is concerned about:
http://phonearena.com/htmls/HTC-Apache-the-CDMA-version-of-the-Wizard-article-a_643.html
i'm gonna cry
see my sig? i thought it was enough compensation that the wizard has a slow processor - won't make me sad that i didn't wait for it. now this CDMA version will really make me cry. BTW is CDMA = 3G? currently doing a google search on this. and how comparable is its size compared to the magician/non cdma-wizard? i mean, the size might change because of the antenna, but i want to know by how much.
(i forgot one more thing, hence the editing)
would've been excellent if only the screen slides out, so it looks like the sidekick. awkwardly off-center screen. but i can live with that.
CDMA itself is not 3G, no. But the CDMA carriers in the USA have EVDO, which is a 3G technology. So, CDMA is not 3G, but if it's CDMA in the USA it means it will be 3G, assuming it supports EVDO.
On the size, look at the picture showing it next to the Samsung i730. It's the same size. Too bad it has a big, fat antenna. But not counting the antenna, it's the same size as the Samsung i730.

info on the omap850 chip
http://focus.ti.com/general/docs/wt...00&path=templatedata/cm/product/data/omap_850
Rumor has it that the CDMA version (Sprint PPC-6700) does have EVDO, which (like SaltyDawg said) is 3G.
when it release?
So sounds the slow processor not gonna to support Skype then? as Skype has to run on at least 400Mhz CPU...
ANy idea when it gonna to release? cheers
question for those who really know: would the omap 850 really be uber slow compared to intel's xscales? i mean doesn't the omap works like 'dual processors'? one for phone and one for pda function (i read this somewhere just can't remember it) and doesn't it consume less power? any insight would be appreciated.

It depends on which Xscale are we talking about. Compared to the outgoing [email protected] MHz, well... I can assume its slowness is marginal, but compared to the existing PXA27x... It's a no contest. AFAIK, anything OMAP in three digit equals to bad anything... It's not even dual core, like everyone believed it is.
Again, AFAIK, the dual core OMAP uses 4 digit naming scheme, like the 1510 on the iPAQ 6300 series and the Tungsten T. Just check it at the official Texas Instrument site.
I am very much hoping that HTC Wizard will replace my Treo 650... I have bad memories with my Blue Angel almost a year ago... But since then, I couldn't live without integrated QWERTY keyboard. The only replacement good enough for me is the iPAQ 6500 series, but I can trek places where no PDA-Phone ever gone before with my Treo, as it has 1800 mAH battery capacity.
This processor fiasco has me think again about buying the Wizard. But we shall see in the near future about the truth.
Hrm, yep... seems that it is only a single core: http://focus.ti.com/general/docs/wt...00&path=templatedata/cm/product/data/omap_850... Again, I think this is a non-issue since its only _really_ going to matter for things such as Skype where the phone AND the PDA side of things need to be working together. For stuff like web browsing, IM, planners etc... it should be more than enough (at least compared to a damned Symbian Nokia which runs at 103MHz).
In a way I see the slow processor as a blessing (though, watch as I eat my words when the thing actually arrives) - keeping it at a slower clock speed means the battery will last longer. Couple this with the fact that it uses WM5.0 which has persistent storage and this means we should be looking at a pretty good battery life, or they'll have provided us with a really lame battery to save money *shrugs*.

I don't understand your comment here; the datasheet clearly shows that the OMAP 850 is a dual-core CPU. The "primary" core is an ARM926 which will be used to run the OS, apps, etc. The "secondary" core is actually a multi-core which contains an ARM7 coupled with a C54 DSP to do all GSM/GPRS baseband processing.
True, only a single core will be used for the OS, but with Xscale phone designs a single core handles BOTH the OS and the GSM processing.
On another note, it makes little sense to compare CPUs of two different architectures (Xscale and OMAP) solely by their clock speeds, as in many cases the amount of work that can be performed on one CPU in a given clock cycle is different than another CPU.
Given that the "primary" core on the OMAP 850 is dediciated 100% to the OS, along with it's dual-core nature allowing to simultaneously process the GSM baseband and the OS, I think this CPU is up to the task. I don't think it will outperform the Xscale (especially at higher clock speeds), but I don't think it's gonna be a dog either.
Hah, you're right... I read ARM7 MCU as ARM9 MCU and assumed it was just the Memory Control Unit for the ARM9 processor... then I looked again and saw that there is a memory control unit for both processors in another layer (that and the fact that a memory control unit in the GSM/GPRS controller makes no damned sense at all). My bad, I'm ill with a fever in bed at the moment so cut me some slack ;p
So yes, we have an ARM7 and an ARM926...
Even though it isnt technically fair to compare the processors on clock-speed alone, we still know the OMAP will lose out because Xscale is a technological advancement... plain "ARM9" will be slower.
I agree with you, I dont think it will be terrible. I made do with a 133MHz SH-3 device for a good few years... and SH3 processors were horribly slow.
my head is spinning but I do thank you for your informed replies! so it is dual core afterall... that's re-assuring I read in a preview in one of the dutch/swedish/netherlands (not sure which) ethusiast site that it was zippy... but then again they might have not loaded it with alot of stuff. I also saw the video at WM.no and it seemed zippy... really waiting for a full review from our friends with fast access to cool new gadgets.... yooohooo!
Yeah, thanks for the info.... I apologize then, I couldn't read out the schematics on the TI site, I just look at the navigation tab and saw that the OMAP 850 falls in the category of Modems and Applications, where as the OMAP 1510 falls in the category of High-Performance... So based on that I extract an assumption, TI reserved the dual core chip for their higher performing chipset.
I agree wholeheartedly with OMAP as the most efficient (power wise) proc available today though. But I'd prefer [email protected] powering the wizard... At least I have tried overclocking my Treo to 400MHz without any problem... I expect my next Windows Mobile powered device to be powerfull yet still manage a full day's of usage.
It's basically down to the usage of the device. Probably HTC did a research a while back that Magician user doesn't fully utilised their device to the max, so that HTC can cut production cost by a little for using the TI processors... Well, that's my two cent. At least all Magician user here in my country are ladies and girls who doesn't know how to reset the device... Left alone installed something... They just use the device as-is.

Internal memory is 4GB, just like the G2, with 1.5 GB free/available (same "issue" as the G2 as to where this memory has "gone").
Also, the stuff in the spec list for the processor is kinda misleading. Yes, the chip might have support for XGA displays and 12-megapixel cameras, but the Desire Z has neither of those features in its own hardware.

Shouldn't the DZ have 512MB of RAM by htc.com and wikipedia..?
But mine shows 256.. That's ofcourse if I checked it right (Settings->Applications->Running services and the bottom numbers together ) Mine feels kinda slow for a high end phone sometimes..

How much free RAM do you have though ? If you have a load free, then I doubt RAM is the cause of any slowdowns on your phone.
I don't think all 512 MB is available to the OS, some is used by the radio.
the bottom bar reads:
Other: 79MB in 4 Avail: 72MB+ 137MB in 12
Haven't been able to totally figure out what the whole thing means, but is there a way to know how much total RAM I have? Wouldn't feel right to have a phone with half the RAM it should have..
Does anyone else experience a little slow camera when moving the picture around? That seems weird since, a long time ago I had the first gen iPhone, and even thats camera was smooth and fast.. There is also a slight freeze before flipping the screen to and from landscape when opening/closing the keyboard..
Thanks for your help though

I'm new to Android, so learning as I go. But since that first bit says "Other", I'm guessing you need to also add in the sizes of the services currently running, listed above that.
When I add all those figures up for mine, I get to around 366 MB, which I think is about right for the amount of RAM available to Android.
Sounds like you have about 200 MB free, so I don't think you need to worry about free RAM.
I thought of that, but with the applications it adds up to a little over 300, 330or something like that..
So I assume you don't have those lags and freezes on your phone ?

I found a small tool called "Android Assistant" in the market that displays some useful data e.g. it shows that my DZ has a total of 373.23 MB and it also gives a break up between used and free (generally that hovers around 230 MB used and 140-143 MB free - ofcourse depends on what else I am running at any time). You might want to give it a try. It also provides easy ways to kill processes that you don't need or empty Caches of various applications that you may have run in the recent past who haven't emptied their cache on exit.
Total RAM, not Available RAM
I see that everyone's discussed this to death - but I'm still confused about the RAM on this phone. When I see screenies of ROMs I'm about to download, they generally show the poster's DZ as having "Total RAM - 512MB", but any time I check my phone - it shows Total as 368MB. Is this because of the system overhead, and if so - with this much memory allocated, why does it need to consume so much MORE for the OS? If not, is there something wrong with my phone?
Sorry for beating a dead horse, I'm just still trying to make sense of it. Thanks to anyone who can help!

Does anyone know the actual weight of the new 10.1? Most spec sheets indicate 595g, however at Google I/O the presentation indicated 565g?
Typo perhaps? Or are they just adding to the confusion?

The 595g is for the 10.1V
I'm really confused then.
According to Wikipedia and numerous other sources -- the 10.1v is 599g
Also, why at the Google I/O event would they display the 10.1 (non Vodafone) as 565g ?
sorry i am unable to post links currently, but if you go to galaxytabs dot com and look at the post on May 10th you can see the image i am referring to.

Oh. Well IDK.
All I can tell you is it's insanely light. It almost feels bendable, if that makes any sense. It's almost too light.
so given the fact that @ Google I/O they showed the presentation of the "Limited Edition" 10.1 as 565g
...could this then mean that the eventual 10.1 final release will in fact be 595g
with the 10.1v as 599g
3 different h/w models???

10.1V - First gen, now already outdated due to 10.1. = 599g
10.1 Wifi - Doesn't have SIM slot, MicroSD slot nor 3G Card = 565g
10.1 3G - Has SIM slot, MicroSD and 3G card so is heavier than WIFI = 595g
Thinking about it logically like that, it makes sense.
Hmmm...interesting, taking all those factors into account it does make sense now.
nice one risq

So the wifi only version WILL NOT have microSD? that seems an odd omission.. Could you provide a link or anecdotal evidence for this, good sir? That would most definitely be a deal breaker for me.
i personally dont have any evidence to support this, however I do have this link from Samsung indicating that the 8.9 tab has a MicroSD slot but not the 10.1
http://originus.samsung.com/us/news/newsRead.do?news_seq=19833&gltype
but then again, the 10.1 also doesn't show it has 'Sensors' and i'm pretty sure that's not correct.
The special edition given at I/O doesn't have an SD slot... Why would they leave it off that if it would be in the retail version? Doesnt make sense to have yet another version
yeah.. at this stage in the game, theyve been manufacturing those things for a while to get ready for launch demand. I'm willing to bet I/O tabs are identical hardware to the retail version, with the obvious exception of the white back.
Dang... I've much to reconsider...
The Google i/o edition has no sd-card slot and no 3G. The hardware for the sd-card and the sim card are probably one unit.
I expect that apart from the androids printed on the back, the white wifi-only 32GB version will be same as the Google i/o version (but that's just a guess).

Don't think the 10.1v is necessarily outdated due to the 10.1 . It's just another model. Don't know if the 10.1 has a better design because of its thinness. The 10.1v has a great grip due also to the design of the backplate.

...and let's not forget the 8MP rear camera on the 10.1v
I guess all this well be answered in a couple weeks.
I think reason 10.1 from I/O does not have an SD support is because it is sort of a hybrid. Old 10.1v (and all its specs) but in a body of 10.1
It ads confusion but hell... that have produced 5.000 pieces quickly out of the spares they had knocking around any way. It is one of.
And if you are a developer you are still going to be happy with a gift like that... lets face it - if it did not costed you a penny why would complain that it lucks stuff.
On the other hand... in order for you to develop stuff for honeycomb it is more than enough.
I'm guessing that the retail will have an SD, the I/O tab is similar to the developer Nexus phones.
565 and Tegra 2. No SD

This looks actually pretty impressive....its what the note 4 could/should have been in some aspects.
If available in canada with working LTE I could see getting one.
Never thought id ever be interested in a huawei device but they nailed it with this one
Sent from my Note 3, Note 2 or One X+
I have to wait for more in-depth reviews of the device, but I am seriously considering getting the Ascend Mate 7. I currently have a Note 3, and was hoping that Samsung would either increase the size of the Note 4 or release an updated version of the Galaxy Mega 6.3, but no such luck.
This video shows off the AM7 and it looks really nice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayYcVWO3yLI
I'm so jealous of those bloggers at IFA that got one.
Also, I wonder what kind of dev support we can expect here on XDA for the AM7.
Dev support is definately something I would take into consideration prior to buying.

Looking at the mate 6 forums there's plenty of support.
I'm also very interested in this device, owning an note 3 and seeing how the note 4 is a big letdown I'm considering upgrading to this.
This phone looks great! There will always be the people that dislike this and the other Mates for their mid-range specs, but this phone is mostly for battery life. I have a Mate2 and I can get 2-3 days on one charge easily.
Also, we just achieved root today! Sadly Xposed doesn't completely work, along with Viper4Android.
As for dev support, the original Mate has a number of ROMs up, but the Mate2 has nothing. Again, we just got root very recently. Another reason why is most likely because no one knows about this phone. Maybe the Mate7 will bring new developers and users. And if that happens, I hope the Mate2 gets the same treatment.

Ahh, my bad yes that one.
I hope the mate 7 will get cm. If it does it will be a blessing of a phone.
I would buy this right now for battery!
I'm currently using Nexus 5. I would really like to know if we would get stock rom on this. I really like the dual antenna and finger print setup. I think it will be challenging to get stock to working on those features.
Anyway I am still willing to buy it now. Any suggestions where would I get it?

Hasn't the Ascend Mate 2 been out since February? If it took this long to get root, that doesn't bode well for the Mate 7. I don't think I could wait half a year for root.

Yup, around that time but that was the Chinese/overseas model. It already got root and even an official KitKat update.
Our US model only started to get sold here back in July, I believe. So about 2 months to get root.
Mate7 looks like it will be a Bad ass phone, like to get my hands on one.....
If stock Android/root would be guaranteed I'd buy this the first moment I could get it.
Will T-Mobile LTE work on it?

Well if it was as easy as you just made it sound, why'd it take the other mate referred to in the other thread forever to gain root?
Guess I just gotta wait for someone to port stock. I could use a launcher I guess.

We didn't have the hw-qmonekeytool to get the 16 digit code needed for the Unlock of the bootloader to get root, now we do. Huawei is like HTC, as long as you have that code, you can unlock any Bootlader on any Huawei and get root.
I buy all my Huawei's direct from China (Better prices) Once the Mate7 is available (in the Configuration I need for FDD LTE) I will have it.

We use FDD LTE (Frequency Division Duplex-Long Term Evolution) here in the US they Use TD LTE (Time-division Long-Term Evolution) in China.
The Ascend Mate 7 features an octa-core (1.8GHz A15 + 1.3GHz A7) Kirin 925 SoC with Mali T628 GPU. While the 16GB variant will come with 2GB of RAM, the 32GB variant will pack 3GB of RAM.

Mediatek is also a popular chip set used by some large smatphone manufacturers and is been doing great contribution to developers since there were many mediatek devices with a number of custom rom have been developed. And it is too early to expect updates at the moment maybe later next month ?.
I'm still comparing this device with lenovo a7000+, asus zenfone max.
Maybe you can help me decide ?

Definitely max is in mid range device. I agree with the elegant design of k10 i hope that the battery can be replace by higher capacity.. I'm planning to buy this phone on may.
Just received mine 2 days ago, bought on eBay from Taiwan (needed the 700mhz freq for Telstra woohoo).
Going by CPU-Z mine is an Octacore MediaTek MT6753 1.30GHz with GPU Mali - T720, 2GB ram.
For the price $249au - posted, its an awesome phone. I do agree with some reviews about the dullish screen, but its not a dealbreaker for me.
4G Telstra works fantastic, havent taken a lot of camera shots as the weather has been average here atm.
I did an AnTutu benchmark, 35516.
Antutu and CPU-Z pics below..

Hi, I have 2 questions for people who have the DSY variant. Can you put 128gb micro sd on it? I read the spec on the net that it only supports up to 32 gb. Is it right?
Also, is this mediatek chipset faster than snapdragon 800? Can someone tell me as I am really new about this.
thanks ....
I'll be getting it in 2 weeks... as I already pre order it...
