Hello all and I am here to address the problem i am facing with WIFI in my Galaxy S4.
When i try to turn ON WIFI using the the WIFI toggle from drop down it stays in light green state for some time and comes back to same state and it is not turning ON.
I searched the web to solve this problem and I found that to use a code in the dialer *#*#526#*#* to load a driver. And yes it says wrong number and ends the call.
But when i tried by tapping the WIFI toggle and immediately dialed that code the WIFI turned ON !!!!!!
Now the problem is : I should dial every time i need to turn the WIFI ON .
Please help me with this problem.
My Device details
AT&T Galaxy S4 updated to Android 4.3 (But i am facing this problem since one month)
Not done any modifications to my device
But i tried factory resetting which did not HELP.
Hoping you guys come up with a solution....
Thank you....

I'm having trouble with my data connection as it keeps turning off. One minute, I'll be sitting there with H/3G and the next I look up and my connection is gone. I'll have to go into the Comm Manager and turn it back on. Also, when I reboot the phone, I always have to turn the data connection back on. I don't think I have any 3rd party apps that would be causing this.
Anyone have a clue what might be causing this? Oh, I'm running Elegancia if that matters.
Thanks in advance!!!
I just installed the Kumar ROM and am having the same problem....
1 - Phone will show an "H" for the data but no connection
2 - Can't turn off wi-fi
Hosed..
edit - after a few hard boots it appears I am connecting to the internet for now!
my phone is stock and does this also. very annoying.
Bumping. i have the same problem. is this has something to do with "power save on" option in B&B tweakes or "disconnect after 30seconds inactivity"?
any thoughts?
I was having this issue with the stock TmoUS rom so I decided to finally face the fact that I would have to HSPL and go with another rom (Kumar)
...and its still happening
I notice that it only happens at home when I am connected to my wifi network...my phone will show either an H or an E one moment...then I look again and only have the (Y) antenna signal. It will not restore itself for nothing when this happens, I have to open the Comm manager and toggle the data back on.
When im not at home and have the wifi toggled off and running on pure tmobile data service, I have no issues with losing it...
Mine was doing that but after a few hard resets, it no longer does...
I'm on the bus right now and something similar just happened ,while browsing this site a screen just popped up saying data connection error, check settings and if the problem persists reboot your phone. when i went into comm manager data connection was off andwhen i try to turn it on it gives me the same message so i reboot and so far its working good
this problem is now happening all the time for me,anytime im on the internet, marketplace, wallpaper app etc... the data connection drops and i have to go into the comm manager and turn it on. does anybody have suggestions on how to fix this,im on the stock rom and dont feel like changing it yet.
If you're in the United States there is a known problem with the HD2 and the T-Mobile network. I called T-Mobile last week complaining about my bizzare data connections problem and the chic said it is a known issue. She then knocked the cost of my data plan off my bill and apologized for the inconvenience, sadly she couldnt tell me when the issue was going to be corrected. I've switched back to my G1 and haven't had a network issue since.
Help please anyone.
Earlier today my phone lost service...i wasn't too bothered as I was home and the wifi is still working well.
I thought there was no orange service! Turns out my sim card isn't being detected (nor is any other one i've tried)
I did drop my phone early...but it's in a hard back case and it landed on its front and this has never occurred before.
What to do? Will a repair cost a bomb?
check ur IMEI and baseband...
i gues they'll be unknown
yep unknown?
This just happened to me just few minutes ago. Try turning off your phone, remove battery and SIM. Re-insert battery and turn on without SIM. If your radio service is restored, turn off and turn on with SIM this time.
This seems to happen to me whenever I try to calibrate my battery using the app in market by NEMA.
I'm going to have a backup of my efs folder and root explorer app now because I'm scared.
^ thanks will try that!
My airplane sign is on though! and has been for ages now-despite airplane mode being disabled?
Lol okay so I have two issues...sim problem AND
the phone refuses to switch off flight mode (despite the fact it's not activated in settings) Wifi comes on but bluetooth won't as it's in "flight mode"-sigh
If you have some radio service restored, then there is still some hope:
Go into phone dialer, punch in *#*#4636#*#*. Then go in Phone Information, scroll down, and there should be a drop-down box selection there. Select "GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)". Wait few seconds. Hit your menu soft-key. Select "Select radio band". Select "Automatic", OK, then go back to Phone info Menu. Hit "Turn off radio", wait few seconds until you lose all radio connections. Then hit "Turn on radio" and see if you get your radio connections restored.
If you can't do any of the previous steps then your efs nv_data.bin file is probably corrupt or something. Try removing battery, wait few seconds, turn on phone without SIM, turn off phone, re-insert SIM, then turn on. Repeat instructions on previous paragraph.
If you're still SOL, then you need help from someone else. Try searching "efs restore" from the parent forum thread "Samsung Galaxy S II I9100". I found a thread with [FIXED] tag that may show some help regarding this.
My S2 is also in similar mode .. tried ur instructions but unable to start the radio please help
the same think for me
i had this with ke7 modem and when i changed to kh3 it stoped
Apologies for hijacking this thread but I have a similar problem in that I can't get a 3G signal either.
In my case, it happened when I was at my local cinema and I managed to pick up a 3G signal in there which I used to do a quick check of my email before the signal switched itself off.
Usually if the phone is out of range of a 3G signal, the signal would switch itself off then back on once the phone was in range of a 3G signal and yet, when I was back outside, I couldn't get a 3G signal.
I thought it was the SIM card at first but it's definitely not that. I finally managed to install VillainROM after much difficulty yesterday and it fixed a problem I had with the phone being stuck in Flight Mode but it didn't fix the problem involving not being able to pick up a 3G signal anywhere.
Hello
My wife's stock & unrooted S4 started to turn off when she returned for a vacation (she didn't use the network for 3 months; only wifi). From what she is saying and what I witnessed, it looks like an issue with the network : when she turned it on after a flight, it started to turn off itself after a minute. When she came home, I tested it and noticed the same issue. She wasn't getting any network signal however.
When I activated the wifi (don't think it's related but who knows), it started updating apps & everything and after a while, the network finally turned on and the phone stayed on for a full night. Phone calls & texting was working.
I thought it was settled but the phone turned off itself again after she got one of my message this morning; note that it's turning off without rebooting.
Is it a known issue ? Is there a fix or a test procedure I should go through ?
Phone is up to date.
Thanks !
Hi there,
I bought a used verizon Lg g2 vs98039A with lollipop 5.0.2. The problem is that my phone is having wifi issues. Basically it keeps disconnecting after every 5 minutes or so. The wifi functions for a while then it stops receiving or sending (i can say that because the two small arrows under the wifi icon black out) and then it disconnects from that wifi by itself and then reconnects and works fine for a few minutes and repeats it. I tried the following things
1) First of all i deleted every saved wifi under the wifi tab and then restarted the phone and then reentered the password and the phone seemed to work fine for some time (usually less than a day)
2) Another thing I tried was doing the same as step 1 and also reset my router at the same time. (This worked better than the first one and its effect lasts as long as I dont restart my phone or router or connect to any other wifi device.
I also have two more problems
1) Sometimes the data connection stops working (usually works fine after restarting the phone but as I told restarting also disturbs the wifi fix i applied and hence it is again very frustrating)
2) I don't it is software related but my phone's GPS is just crappy I haven't seen it working without data. Please tell me whether its software related or just hardware.
Please help because this is really frustrating and it really irritates me. I don't really care about the data or gps issue but the wifi issue is very irritating. Please can anyone tell me a permanent way to fix this. Also note that my phone is not rooted and i have no idea about rooting. Please help!!
Hi all
My s8 is from Vodafone before i got an update weekend just gone i had problems with my Wi-Fi calling it worked but only problem was that no one could hear me told Vodafone about the problem and was told it be fixed in next update.
Well I get the update just recently but the problem i have now is that the Wi-Fi calling symbol flashes up for a second or two then goes off. I tried using my home internet with WiFi calling on and still won't connect even when my signal goes down to 1 bar still no WiFi calling i have tried resetting the phone but no luck.
So should i try once more and reset phone as a new one? Or is there something wrong with my software?

Do you try hard reset from stock recovery if not try this.
The second option if this rom not working properly downgrade your previous version through Odin.
Before do anything make a full backup of your data and internal storage.
Thanks for fast reply.
The problem is it has Vodafone software on there and I can't change it through Odin unless i flash another Rom which i don't want too. I will probably try one more reset and see what happens

On sammobile.com you can download a stock ROM for your country and your carrier. This won't void your warranty.
Then check again and if the issue persists, exchange the device to a new one.
I'd try a hard factory reset, download the update, then restore and see how that goes. When I first received the S8 I noticed lagging and stuttering after I upgraded I still noticed it and did a reset. After the update all the stuttering and lagging completely went away
Try putting phone into flight mode then turn wifi back on. See if wifi calling kicks in then. It's too flaky for me being unreliable so have a sure signal at home where signal is poor.
