[Q] Any Expert here! help Needed!! - Optimus L3, L5, L7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my cell and installed ROM manager, but when i install any stable ROMS it gets stuck every after 20 mins or so, but run smoothly with Original ROM any Solution Regarding this, Would be grateful ! thanks

1. Download the custom rom you want and place it on you phone.
2. To install custom roms you have to go into CWM (clock work mod). you can enter CWM by going into terminal and type "su" and then "reboot recovery" OR turn your device off, then press volume"-" + home button + power button until it vibrates and shows LG logo then release only power button and keep pressing both of the others for about 8 seconds then release.
3. While you are in CWM you can navigate with the + and - volume buttons and the power button is enter.
4. Before you install any new rom, wipe everything from your phone by going to "mounts and storage menu" --> format /cache, /data and /media, /system, /sdcard, then wipe the dalvik cache under the advanced tab. If you don't do this you can get problems!
So now you can select your customrom.zip and press the power button, your rom will now install. after it is installed you can reboot your phone and if you did everything right your phone should boot into your new rom, the first boot can take a long time sometimes.

Thank you

Thank you sooo much but do i have to wipe format everything from mount menu?when i wipe dalvik cache it says E:Unknown volume for path[/sd-ext] dalvik cache wiped

Generally the roms that u would download from the xda site have a set of instructions given as how to go about installing them. As far as i know wiping data/factory reset from the main cwm menu and wiping dalvik cache wont cause u problems. But then again follow the instructions provided from the roms download page
---------- Post added at 04:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:19 PM ----------
By saying "wont cause u problems" i meant that the rom should work correctly without errors.

i followed the exact steps as the rom pages says but still later i have the same problem, the only original rom is stable !

Then the problem might be with the rom itself. Also read all the posts in that thread and find if anyone else had the same problem and did they find a solution. If that doesn't work ask the guy who built the rom ur problem.
Assuming that it was a problem with a single rom. If its a case in every "stable" rom then i am at a loss.
Bdw which device do u use?

[Q] HD2 - Running Tatung Latest build - r13 -Any Idea why my wifi is not working?

I am having real problem with this build. I tried posting this question at the correct thread, but admins of forum wont let me. So I have to post it here. Below is the actual build that I am using. NAND version is what I use.
"[6.Nov.2011][MAG/cLK] NexusHD2-Gingerbread V3.2a (GWK74)(Android 2.3.7)[tytung_r13]" update
Everything else is working except the wifi connection. Cant get it to connect to any network. At first I thought it was due to the security type, so I got another wireless router, and make it OPEN without any security, still the wifi would not work.
Any idea will be really be appreciated since this is my regular phone.
Thanks for your input.
hmm, try clearing the cache and the dalvik cache, then fix permissions (all in CWM) and reboot.
Maybe it helps.

Am afraid, I don't know how to do that. Let me try to look at the xda website, but if you have ready made info please post for me.
thank you.
Well, first of all get into the Clockworkmod recovery.
It depends whether you have CLK or MAGLDR, check this just by trying.
If MAGLDR, turn off your phone and press and hold your "end call" button till a menu appears, now use the volume buttons to select the 8th option "8. AD Recovery" and confirm by pressing the "start call" (leftmost) button. now you should be in CWM.
If CLK, and in android. press and hold the "end call" button as if you were to shutdown the phone, but dont select "shutdown", press "reboot", then select "recovery" and tap "OK" to confirm. now it should reboot into CWM.
If you don't get those options in the shutdown menu just turn off the phone and press and hold both "end call" and "home" (the one with the little house) buttons, now it should start CWM.
Now in CWM use the volume buttons to navigate to the " - wipe cache partition" option and confirm with the "call" button. then navigate to " - advanced", press "call", and select "Wipe Dalvik Cache" and answer yes if it asks you if you're sure about it. then, still in the advanced menu select "Fix Permissions"
If all succeeded, reboot your phone by pressing the "return/back" button to get to the main menu of CWM and select and " - reboot system now". Or just pull the battery and reinsert. BTW the reboot should take a little longer since the phone needs to rebuild the dalvik cache.
Hope i've been clear enough.
Oh and still it's not guaranteed that this'll fix your WiFi problem, but it will give you some insight into CWM.

Hello there!
As you mentioned that you are not able to see other Recovery options like "Install from zip" etc. This is because you must be booting your phone into the Stock Recovery. For those extra options to come up we need to boot the phone into the Custom Recovery.
To boot into Custom Recovery:
1. Press power on button;
2. Notice when the LED light blinks "BLUE" color; press both the volume keys this time;
3. Now it should show you Custom Recovery options this time;
4. Select "Install from Zip" and flash the ROM you were trying to flash (Also refer to the ROM info if that has some special installation steps).
If the above steps does not resolves the issue then you can always flash you phone with the Stock ROM found in the following article named as SBF:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982
[Note: Above mentioned article has all the information that a defy user needs. Thanks "Zephyrot" for that wonderful article.]
Hope that helps!
Good Luck!!
there is no blue led, when press power button it stuck on red moto logo..
and when press both vol down and power it goes into recovery with limited options.
can it is possible i put rom into sd card and rename it with Update.zip and then in recovery use it with update zip..
or any other solution
Thanks

I'm disappointed to know that you are still facing the same issue. Also, renaming the file to update.zip will not let you flash it.
As suggested above first recharge your battery for a while and then flash with appropriate SBF of your region using RSD Lite. Refer to the above given link it has all the information. Also, note that if you flash with any particular android version SBF (which is not a fixed SBF) then you will not be able to downgrade (above article has all info).
Hope this helps!
Good Luck!
Okay, thanks for all.. this is the T Mobile Uk version and i got it with eclair rom, and than updated with orignal T mobile froyo.

You may use any ROM either Froyo or Eclair. Please also check the downgradilbility of the ROM. As in many of the cases if the ROM is not fixed then switching back to the earlier versions is impossible without having the Nandroid backup. I suggest you to use the version which is officially released in your region.
ROMs can be downloaded from the below mentioned link:

4. Above steps will launch Android System Recovery window (Stock Recovery);
5. Now “wipe data/factory reset” by pressing volume down key and to select press power key;
6. On the next screen it will prompt you to confirm this option by selecting “yes – delete all use data” select this option with power key again;
6. Also “wipe cache partition” from power key as mentioned above;
7. Now select “reboot system now”;
After above steps it will take around 3-5 minutes for first boot and your phone will now boot in normal state.

What if I have balck screen in recovery mode as well?
Do you have any idea how to solve the same problem if the recovery mode does not start neither? Only RSDLite sees that the phone is connected. I can refresh the ROM but I did not find the right .sbf file yet. Do you know maybe which one would bring back the phone from death?
Thank you in advance!!

It seems an issue with the Kernel. May be you are flashing the Green lense Defy (MB525) with GB kernel (i.e. MB526 sbf).
Also check the Bootloader version and which Android version you were using.
Here is a list of all the SBF's for both versions:

Hope this helps.
PS:- I don't use Defy for a year now as I own a Nexus 4.

[SOLVED] [Q] Huawei U8180 First time Modder Problem

[SOLVED]
I rooted this, installed clockworkmod, then went and got an cm7 dated april something 2012 u8160 rom from psyke83 website.
installed it through clockworkmod install from sd card option with success (also clicked option to backup everything).
yet when phone reboots it hangs on the blue arrow in a circle spinning around, sometimes reboots n repeats but it never goes past that.
I have tried going into recovery mode holding down volume buttons and power
and I get 1 of 2 errors:
with sd card in:
firmware update
step 1/2
unpacking
update failed
with sd card out:
purple screen.
I am a first time android modder, can someone please, please tell me how to fix this. I can access the sd card with a reader if need be to put whatever files on it that I should.
Thank you.
Start the phone by pressing volume up + power OR volume down + power. You should be able to boot to recovery with one of those combinations (other one boots to fastboot most probably). After that do the wipe data/cache and try to reboot once again.
What was wrong in the beginning was that you did not wipe data/cache. That made the CM use old OS's data files which obviously won't work.
The unpacking thing was caused by pressing volume up + volume down + power. That causes the phone to go to upgrade mode if there is an update package found.
Nope. still goes to the blue arrow circling then freezes then reboots....

GT i9505 keeps reseting at samsung logo

so basicly this happen. i updated my samsung s4 and after the instalation hes gone,,, he keeps restarting at the first samsung logo screen, vibrate then resets , i tryd that volume+ menu + power button and clear chache and factory reset but it kinda did nothing
im new at this android stuff so if someone got any ideas how to help me that would be great !
sorry if there is another post on the forum here with the same problem but i didint see them ,,,
any help would be good ! thanks in advance
type if you need more info
Hi Zarg00
I had the same problem as you a few days ago! Nothing seemed to work, wheter I tried wiping the cache/dalvik chache or doing a factory reset.
With Odin I managed to get it back to life again.
Don't worry, it's easier to repair as you might think. =)
You should have your original Samsung usb cable ready.
Unbricking Samsung Galaxy S4 by Installing the Official Firmware:
If wiping the data/factory reset, and cache partition does not help you, or you are not able to boot into the Android System or ClockworkMod recovery on your Galaxy S4, you can try installing the official firmware on your phone. Read the following guide that will help you find the correct firmware for your Galaxy S4 and install it safely.

Unfortunatly I can't post you the link directly, because my post count isn't high enough.
But try searching on google "droidviews how to unbrick galaxy s4" and it should be the second post with the very well written tutorial.
After you are done with it, your device should work correctly again.
You will lose your recovery and root though.
Good luck and report back, if it worked! :good:
Maybe not the first thing to do but have you tried flashing in the stock rom with odin and then do the updates again?
Sincerely, Joakim
im gettin Official Firmware now, so i think XD its 1.6 gb so its gonna take a while,
i realy hope this is gonna work
In my case i even had to restore the PIT, too. But try just flashing the official firmware before that.
Yeah, downloading the firmware can take a while. You can download the newest Version [I9505XXUBMGA Jelly Bean (4.2.2)] on google drive as well.
Just delete the "_" after https: in the link -> https:_//docs.google.com/file/d/0B7DKa-PuA5IlcVY2MGtMT1ZJMHM/edit
Drive lets you download faster than hotfile.
Its the DBT version though, so you might need to change your language from german to whatever you want at the first start.
But since your galaxy is still able to boot, the chances are really good that it will work well again after you have flashed the official firmware!
im kinda stuck at this
Boot your Galaxy S4 into Android System Recovery mode: hold Volume Up+Home+Power keys together till the screen turns up and the Samsung logo blinks twice. Just as you see a green Android bot, release the Power button but keep Volume Up and Home keys pressed till you see the recovery menu (see below). In recovery mode use the volume keys to scroll and power button to select options:
Go to “wipe data/factory reset” option and wipe it.
Then “wipe cache partition”.
Finally, go to “reboot system now” and select it.
i cant go to recovery mode, i can see little blue letters in upper left corner but phone resets -.-
any hint ?
Which recovery are you using? The "official" recovery did not work very well on my device. It just crashed when I tried to wipe cache partition.
Try flashing CWM Recovery for GT-i9505 with Odin.
uhm im confuzed, can you walk me throu i kinda dont get that "odin" program
dunno what to do with that files you show me :S
Don't worry, it is not that hard. =)
I guess you already flashed the official firmware with Odin, right?
To install cwm recovery follow these steps:
1. Make sure that your device is at least 50% charged
2. Power off your S4. To make sure that it is really off pull out the battery for half a minute and put it back in.
3. Start Odin3 on your PC.
4. Download the recovery file (link in the post I made before ^^) you should choose the one i marked with red in the screenshot below.
5. Okay, you have the recovery file and odin3 ready. In Odin, click the box before "PDA" and than click on "PDA" and choose the file you just downloaded. It should look like in the screenshot below (sorry, that it's in german, but I thought it might help you )
6. Now we have to prepare your Galaxy S4. Press and hold "Volume down" + "home" and then press "Power" to get into download mode. It will ask you, if you are sure. Just press "volume up" once.
7. Connect your phone to your PC with the USB Cable. Odin should recognize your device. Just make sure, that the ID:COM port turns blue.
8. Click on start and wait till your device reboots and Odin shows you the PASS! message. You can disconnect your S4 from the PC now.
9. And now try to get into recovery mode again by pressing "volume up" + "home" + "power". Sometimes you don't even have to press the home button, just try what works best for you. Release the power button as soon as you see the logo, but keep the "volume up" button pressed until you are in recovery mode.
If you can enter recovery mode again (and i'm crossing my fingers, that you can ^^) just continue with the tutorial from droidviews and wipe data/factory reset and after that cache partition.
I hope that helps! :fingers-crossed:
this works, thanks,
i did "Go to “wipe data/factory reset” option and wipe it.
Then “wipe cache partition”.
Finally, go to “reboot system now” and select it."
well that whas kinda the last thing i needed to do, but its still the same,
he shows me Samsung galaxy s4 gt - i9505 logo and keeps reseting ,,,
so this didint fix my problem
Damn.
Did you also flash the PIT files? I would do the whole process again, but this time follow "How to unbrick S4 by Flashing Stock Firmware and PIT File".
If that doesn't work as well, I guess it is some hardware error. The good thing is, that you did not lose any warranties by following the tutorials and you can return your phone to the shop and claim a repair.
so basicly i did all over again its still the same phone keeps resetting
but in recovery mode i noticed after i do this
"Go to “wipe data/factory reset” option and wipe it.
Then “wipe cache partition”.
Finally, go to “reboot system now” and select it."
when i want to reboot it says " Root access is missing. Root device ? "
basicly there are lots of

aaaaannnnnddd nothing, it resets
im back at the beginning ,,,, he whas working fine for about 10 min then he just shuts down and resets all the time ,,,,
Hey Zarg00 =)
Did you restore the PIT file as well this time? You phone shows a really strange behavior. O__O
I have found a thread here, which might hopefully help you [Guide] How to unbrick your phone.
Sometimes flashing files with Odin won't work the first time and you have to try it multiple times.
If that all doesn't work, then I guess it is not a software but an hardware issue. :/
well i made it work, and its fine now, but it restarts sometimes ,,,
also Kies cant see my phone, its stuck on connecting ,,,, i can browse it throu My Computer i see it there
Cool! It finally works now? Did you do anything different or just the steps from the tutorial again?
Kies never really worked for me. Sometimes it didn't recognized my device at all.

It takes a long time, i had this issue before, just enter recovery manually Volume Down + Power at LG Logo release and press again.
Then flash CM or something it will take a long time but it will fix it.
hey thanks for the reply.
i cannot access recovery at all right now... ill keep trying..
Any other thoughts?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
ive been able to get back into recovery.
timing is very important for this as i thought there was something wrong, but holding down+power from the off state, see lg logo, immediately release buttons, then hold power key gets you to the factory reset screen. push power to reset, and then it boots into twrp recovery...
stuck in twrp
i accidently wiped everything in twrp. now cant boot into android, nor can install a zip. please advise how to copy zip files to internal sd card to install. please advise fast

Use system recovery in the LG support tool, before connecting the phone to PC turn off completly the volume up + power until U rich download mode. The plug and after PC installs phone, find the Recovery option.

Thanks to your post, I knew I should really give TWRP a chance to restore (which wipes system) and after like 15 minutes, it finished wiping system and moved on.
Thanks for sharing this info.
