Phone stutters and screen flashes upon an app update - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
This is my first post, so, please, tell me if I'm doing something wrong.
I hoped that somebody could assist me with an issue. When an update is happening in the background the app in use will briefly blink, as if it was minimised and restored. It happenswhen the "Internal storage left" message pops up. Though it happens really quickly, some activities become impossible. For example, a YouTube video will restart if an app updates, and if few apps are updating it will just keep restarting the video. A game will blink and pause.
I'm using a stock ROM, even though it's rooted. I can't remember having this issue a month ago, but can't find what could possible cause this. Hope to hear some ideas for solution.
Many thanks in advance.

CM10.1 & Notifications

First off I'd like to say I believe this is an extremely isolated issue, but I would appreciate any and all help.
I can't seem to get notifications working for snapchat. I've looked around before since I had the issue in CM10 with my note, but I've found nothing on the subject. I realize not many people here probably use snapshot, but the way it works is that when a snap is received, the screen turns on and a notification pops up in the notification bar. Since I flashed CM10.1 today I receive the snaps but my screen does not turn on and no notification appears.

I've noticed this has gotten quite a few views and I just want to post the solution. For whatever reason, if you use titanium backup to restore the app it will not be able to display notifications.
To fix it just reinstall the all through the play store.

Calendar Storage causing keeping phone awake!

So I'm totally in love with my Samsung galaxy note 3. I'm just not satisfied with my battery life. I find that it's really inconsistent. Sometimes the battery life is good, other times not so much. My phone can be charged to 100% and then within 2 minutes of use its down to 99. Also, for example, last night I went to bed at 3am and woke up at 11am (8hrs) and my battery had gone down from 40% to 22% :s. I downloaded wake lock detector and found that "calendar storage" was constantly waking my phone up. I've searched everywhere for solutions and haven't found something concrete. Can anyone help me out please?!

I tried that. Still doesn't work. This is unbelievably frustrating. It's absolutely killing my battery life man

Cant help but found your problem while searching for an answer to my own. Same here, but on a Moto X so it's not necessarily Samsung related. Calendar storage has a whopping 1,013 wake locks in 10 hours. The next closest is incomparable with Google Search /109, then Tasker / 64, everything else is negligible.
Going all Chuck Norris and disabling a bunch of things may work, but I hate that method as it ruins the point of a "smart phone". There has to be some better explanation out there, but many threads are years old for the same "calendar storage" problem and usually device-specific solutions.
edit: make that 1,023 just since writing this post! crazy
Force-stop it. It's probably stuck. (settings --> general --> applications --> all --> Calendar storage --> Clear cache & Force Stop).
Also, turn off all Syncs (including Google and Exhange) and Backup for the calendar.
If I force close calendar storage, the calendar app doesn't work . It opens, but all the information in my calendar doesnt show. I've even tried other third party calendar apps.

anyone found a solution yet? Previously on my s4 it would wake like 150 times a day, which isn't to bad, but I just got a OnePlus One and this is constantly waking my phone! It had like 800 wakes in 4 hours!

Unrecognizable apps and status messages

I recently got a Tmobile Note 3 that I unlocked via unlock code and since first boot, I've noticed few things that I don't understand or seen on any other phone.
1) There are a number of apps that are there that I don't believe come with stock phone and I would like to know if its OK to remove/disable them. Also would like to know what they do?
VoLTE Configuration Menu
SSConfig
[/LIST
2) Secondly, everytime I boot or restart the phone, phone shows all the different commands that it is running. I'm sure there is setting somewhere to disable that but I don't see it in Dev Tools.
Thanks

SS config I have no clue, assume it's to do with building configs/development etc
The different commands that the phone is running at boot up must be due to the unlock (bootloader?) - a reflash of stock firmware may fix this

It's difficult to take the picture of the commands that are running as they only show up for a brief second or so but I will give it a try later today.
Apart from above mentioned apps, there is another app called "Samsung Keystring". Is it OK to delete/disable these apps?

I think the keystring is for service modes, like connecting to networks etc, can't really see to much about it though. I wouldn't delete it just incase

[Q] Not able to rescan media

Hey guys,
I've been searching around, but I can't find a clearcut fix, so maybe someone here has some insight. Recently I started noticing that random pictures started dissapearing from my gallery, seemingly (but not 100% sure) after the kitkat update on my Note 3. Before I also saw some pics dissapear (a couple I downloaded) but I didn't put much thought into it.
Now, after the update, I was sarting to notice more pictures have dissapeared. The thing is, if I go into whatsapp, select a convo and click on media I actually see the pictures and all, but in the gallery in the "whatsapp images", and in "all images" album they are nowhere to be found. I tried for a solution on google, but to no avail except rescanning the media. Usually that would be taking the sd card out and put it back in to rescan the card, but it refuses. The weird thing is that every app in the store that deals with rescans imediatly Force closes when starting the scan. I mean all of them, and I installed about 10. I have no cfw's or roms running so I can't figure out what the issue is.
Obviously I tried resetting, rebooting and all the usual stuffs.
ANy help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Dylan
Seems like you need a reflash of stock firmware.
No data lost btw

Did it work out for you?
You see - I seem to have run into the exact same issue.
Running 4.4.2 stock rooted.
Reflashed with Mobile Odin
Injected Root, SU, and Mobile Odin
Wiped Dalvik-cache & user data.
Reinstalled everything.
Improvement: Zip, Zilch, Nada.
Still forced closure on media scanners :crying:
Help!! (sniffle).
Regards
Elo
Fixing permissions didn't help either.
