[Q] No ROM support for N900 (Exynos) at all? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I made the mistake of rooting my N900, thus tripping knox. Now I can't update the phone nor the Gear watch that comes with it (the gear can be updated through it's app but not tripping new updates unless the phone is up to date as well..).
There is virtually zero XDA support and activity for the Exynos N900.
If you're an owner of one, don't root or do anything XDAish until activity starts popping up.
I am currently on N900XXUBMJ1
Can I update using Odin and downloading a firmware from Sammobile, if yes, whats the procedure to undertake for the update?

yes you can update with odin it will unroot the phone
i thought n900 did not have knox
if you want roms they are here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/galaxy-note-3-exynos-android-development

Yeah it doesn't, it has something called warranty bit that was added in the last update and basically makes it our knox version but ours is for sure a software add on and not something more complicated like the S800 knox

Im pretty sure there's an exynos forum with a few roms. A few of them are even mj7. Root is the best thing you can do to your phone. Ive owen s3 s4 and now note 3. Never used the warranty once and rootes them all. And had them very modded. With kernels effects themes etc. Everybody on this forum is like I need my warranty etc. I dont get it

Confusion regarding 4.3 Bootloaders on SG4

My S4 has the original firmware (MDL) and I have since installed a custom recovery (the loki method). I am now running GoldenEye 4.3, which is based off the Internation S4. I love it. I love what my phone can do. Anyway, I downloaded triangle away and it says the binary is official and the counter is 0. I did not see Samsung Knox Warranty 0x0 or 0x1 anywhere. Would I have this if I did the original OTA update to 4.3 from AT&T? I'm guessing its best never to upgrade and stay far away from the knox crap. So much for the Galaxy S5 then. ):
Why did Samsung ever have to implement the Knox 0x0 crap? If its so important to them voiding people's warranties, then why didn't they originally do it when the S4 launched?
As of right now, is my bootloader knox free, since I have a 4.3 rom on it? Would triangle away work if I ever needed to send it in?
Why is there a different root method or custom recovery for each firmware version on the i337?

....With pushed OTA the Bootloader would add a Knox warranty flag to the download mode screen.

For the record: Triangle Away is not compatible with any locked bootloader and I don't believe it resets KNOX yet anyways. I think that if you have loki exploit you can use it, but I'm not entirely sure. It's only for the flash counter anyways.
The reason root and recovery methods are different is because with each new firmware Samsung patches the old security flaws that let us have root and recovery in the first place. I don't know if that's at their discretion or at the carrier's request (the locked bootloaders are at carrier request and Samsung must update the security on them to protect their business interests).
Not every S4 gets the KNOX counter, only those with the bootloader from the 4.3 update.

Wow. What a shame. It looks like they are doing everything to stop custom roms and root. After the loki method, it got really hard. Seems like more devices would be bricked now, than they would before.
I am wondering why they are cracking down so much now. The AT&T Galaxy S2 (i777) and S3 had unlocked bootloaders and huge development communities.
+1 now many are thinking of ditching their carriers & mfr in favor of costlier, but mod friendlier alternatives truer to Android's progressive core concept.

Yeah, but its still never the same with another carrier's device. For example, I used the T-Mobile Note 3 on AT&T and the experience was not so great. Sure, I had custom recovery and root, but it had that knox warranty thing. It also struggled tremendously holding onto an LTE signal. The overall signal was poor.
Purchasing the international S4 comes with the trade off of loosing LTE. I am hoping with the S5, Samsung includes all major LTE bands with it, so those of us who want to modify our devices can get AT&T LTE.

[Q] How To Root My Galaxy Note 3?

I just got the Galaxy Note 3 & Gear bundle on contract today through TelecomNZ. My contract was up for a renewal & the Galaxy S5 didn't seem to have any real advantage of the Note 3 so alas I didn't bother to wait.
Now however I am at a standstill...I would really like to root my device as soon as possible. I don't want custom firmware & would like to keep the stock so if there are official updates I can get them. Can anyone assist me please with a step by step to rooting my Note 3 preferably without tripping the Knox counter that I have just recently only found out about thus voiding my warranty. I don't want to void the warranty but I would like root so I can use Titanium Backup so if anyone can please provide me with a step by step to safely rooting my device I will be so appreciative for it.
Here are some details about my phone...

Okay in that case if I use CF-Root thus voiding my warranty will I risk losing anything else. I had an S3 for 2 years and sheer stupidity resulted in a cracked screen however that was the only time I had to use my warranty so essentially warranty shouldn't concern me but I don't want to trip this Knox counter and lose key features just for root which is all I really want. I don't plan on custom firmware flashing or anything so my OTA should still work via KIES right?
Just crossing the T's and dotting the I's before I possibly ruin a good thing.
Before you root make some checks. If your hardware is OK. Download from market multitouch app to see if your screen passes the 10 fingers test. It's really important. Then stress a bit your phone hardware wise and see if everything runs fine and no defects show up. If everything is OK then trip knox and be happy.

as said by testadeferro,
make a check on your device first for the multitouch (which some note 3 users experience this on their device). So if you need to claim warranty, you are still elligible before you trip the KNOX.
I don't know about KIES, because since my S2, S3, Note1, Note2, and till now Note3, I never use KIES to upgrade my firmware. I like to use ODIN more. And yes, though u root your device, you are still able to flash back firmware (newer version) through ODIN.
cheers.

So basically if the app recognizes 10 fingers on the screen at once it's fine correct? I managed to get 10 fingers recognized easily so essentially I'm okay to root or should I be doing something else first?

To root or to not root your Note 4!

Hi All,
I have been a samsung user for a long time and use to flash f*** it all the time and root the phone.
I need root to remove all unused bloatwate.
Since there is no way knox warranty bit can be reset upon root, i was wondering whether note 4 can be rooted without tripping the knox warranty.
Also, will the warranty be void if the knox bit is tripped? Cant we get it serviced even for a hardware issue? Although i have never faced any hardware issues within an year.
Thanks in advance.
Hi lycan_codex, based from what I've read the knox bit is hardware connected so once tripped it can't be reversed unless you replace the chip itself.
I would have also wanted to root my new Note 4 but it carries with it a 2 year warranty.
If yo
u want to delete bloatware you have to be rooted or wait for a rom that does not have the bloat. Yes root will be needed. If your phone malfunctions and you tripped KNOX you can still get it repaired just make sure you unroot flash a stock firmware before getting it repaired. Or you can hope someone makes a no KNOX trip which last I heard Towelroot did not last to long
Thankfully with canadian phones you can disable 90% of the apps

since about 90% of bloat can be desactived....personally I"m gonna wait to see if there's a root without tripping knox who could go out soon....on the note 3 guy where able to root without tripping knox...so
To puss or not puss.... just root it.
Have been rooting every Samsung from galaxy s1 to s4 then note 3 to note 4. Cannot live without a rooted phone. From restoring my apps data with titanium, navbar customisations, root just makes it so much easier to use the handset. Have never ran into any problems like phone breaking down due to root so for me root is essential.
Seems you plan to do serious damage with your rooted phone that you need to keep knox intact but you say you've been flashing awhile so what are you really afraid of
I've been also rooting my samsung phone since s2, s3 and s4 but its been only in s4 where i had problem with the knox bit. Now I'm not sure if i still want to root my note 4 since its already butter smooth. Unlike my s3 and s4
I was a bit afraid of rooting the phone and the samsung service center guys refusing to service the phone as the knox warranty is tripped.
Anyways, F*** it, i just rooted my phone. Thanks for your inputs anyways.
samsung service center returned my note3 once they found out it had been rooted and tripped knox so i smashed the screen on and claimed on my house insurance
Im going to wait a bit longer before i root , its a bit early yet for custom roms

I recommend getting 'abp' ad block since you're now rooted. It will block all anoying ads from aps and browsers. Also the blocked ads make chrome run even faster. SDMAID is a must also.
No risk No Reward [emoji3]
The manual states if you change anything eg root there is no warranty.

And roms are becoming available at a fast pace now
I'm planning on upgrading, but I was told the Note 4 *isn't* rootable or flashable, only the dev version is? (Verizon version)
I always root my phone since i joined xda with Galaxy S1, S3, Note 2, and now Note 4. But now on 5.1.1 Note 4, I'm satisfied with the phone's performance without root. Rooting my Note 4 on 5.1.1 breaks the Screen Mirroring functionality. I'm always using Screen Mirroring to my Samsung TV. At present I can't be satisfied without it.

definitely root it if you don't care for your warranty, i rooted my F 5.1.1, with stock rootable kernel, and i didnt even disable everything i can, and i'm getting literally 2 days of batery, with 4h screen on time, i know it's not much, but my not rooted one lasted only 2-2:30.. Cheerz
1. Is the Note 4 still rootable if it's on the latest Lollipop?
2. What if it's a Tmobile phone?
3. What if it's a Verizon phone?

[Discussion] KNOX Counter

I didn't find a topic about KNOX counter at least not in the S6 forums, I just wanted to make a topic where you can discuss what does or doesn't trip the KNOX counter.
In the past I have always flashed custom roms to all my devices, most of the times flashing a custom recovery was one of the first things I did. With this device I'm not sure what I'm going to do, it arrives later this week and I've read a lot of people are happy with with stock rom and don't see a benefit in voiding the warranty for de-bloating etc.
Do you care about KNOX warranty and it's features or not? If not why?
Things SHOULDN'T trip KNOX:
[ROOT] PingPongRoot ***S6 & S6 Edge Root Tool*** (Read instructions carefully!)
Things that do trip KNOX:
CF auto root
Flashing any unsigned image, whether a kernel, recovery or a custom ROM
From what I've read the only true importance of KNOX for the average user is the ability to use Samsung PAY. I'm waiting for it to be released and for people to test out the various roots/roms/exploits to see what trips knox, etc.
Although the stock ROM is good, I really wanna remove some of ATT's bloat :/ I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat regarding carrier bloat.
I am still keeping my knox intact by ping pong root , i have removed many of the useless apps and installed some of my favorites apps for better battery management and used CSC Feature Expert for some tweaks . still waiting for custom rom that doesn't trip knox .

Why not use debloater to disable the bloat in the mean time?
I haven't received my device yet but here in Australia they use the 920I version and back home in Belgium they use global 920F model. On a few Australian forums I've read that Samsung Australia doesn't give warranty to overseas models. On Yatango they sold both the 920I and the 920F, so I decided that I would take the global 920F since I will have to go back to Europe eventually... Normally I have 1 year of warranty trough Yatango while in Australia.
And in Belgium we normally have 2 years of warranty and since I'm buying the international unlocked version they sell in Belgium there should be no reason for Samsung to refuse me warranty if necessary.
Normally rooting and flashing CMW/Cyanogenmod is the first thing I do after opening the box of my device, but with my previous phones I had to use the warranty every time. First my Xiaomi M2s got an unresponsive screen and ghost touches, I got a brand new one from Xiaomi sold it and bought a Oneplus one. Sadly the same thing happened to that device after a month, I sent it back and got a new one that one worked for half a year until I was in Australia for a week. Same problem... So 3 times so far I had to deal with horrible Chinese customer service and had to get trough a lot of hassle to replace it, but this time Oneplus refused me warranty because they don't ship/pick up in Australia. That is the mean reason I just went for a Samsung now because for 1 I hope there devices are built better and because I just want to be able to have normal warranty.
With Oneplus, Xiaomi, ZTE etc you can just flash the fastboot image and lock the bootloader again and they don't refuse warranty, but with the S6 it would be a real shame if they would not fix a hardware issue because KNOX is tripped. Hopefully I won't need warranty this time!
I will see how annoying all the bloat ware is and if I really have to remove it with root or if just hiding it will be enough.
Well, what does trip Knox besides custom ROM's? Custom kernels? Xposed? Adblock? I have no clue.
And my last Samsung device was the original Note which didn't have Knox. When I got my One M7 I sweared I wouldn't touch Samsung's phones again, especially with their Knox/eFuse shenanigans. But right now the S6 is one of the best choices out there..
Just some information I got from a different forum (gsm forum) about knox on other samsung devices. It appears that devices with snapdragon chips use efuses and once blown they can not be reset but devices with exynos store that information in a special partition that can be erased and reprogramed with special software AND hardware.
There is also some information here on XDA on the note 3 and knox: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2642207

I wouldn't assume anything about the S6/S6E based on this.
Actually I have my Knox virgin, and I prefer to keep it this way, just because I don't want to perform a modify that can't be restored in the future (we may need it); and actually I don't feel the need for flashing anything that trips KNox, I'm happy with my stock rooted phone....

KNOX Counter has the following benefits:
a. Even though your device is lost, the person who stole it cannot use it. Without your account, the device cannot be reset to factory settings and flashed with any ROM.
b. KNOX protects your private data and information with its advanced technology. Here is the official link to White Paper: An Overview of Samsung KNOX

Is it really true that you can't factory reset or flash a rom without having my account? How about flashing stock trough odin? If this is true it would be a awesome feature if the device gets stolen they can't use it.

Well flashing a custom rom doesn't necessarily trip Knox. As long as you don't install a custom recovery you can flash a custom rom using flashfire.

EDIT 1: They seem to be discussing that here as well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s6/general/flashfire-t3104060/page5
Flashing a recovery or a kernel will trip Knox...
Oh, I debloated manually...

No, not yet because every rom here contains Aroma installer which is not supported yet by flashfire. However Chainfire claims this will happen eventually. On Verizon s6 there are already three custom roms which can be flashed with flashfire. Only o custom recovery or a custom kernel will trip knox.
I thought you could use flashfire for T-mobile and flash custom roms.. You just have to remove the boot.img and the script that installs the kernal from the .ZIP
Thought they got looper installed with flashfire

Yea I've seen your name pop up a lot in the flashfire topic, I've read some people successfully flashed a from without kernel trough flashfire. Guess we just have to be patient for now.
xposed ll trip knox?
I'm sitting here thinking like "Should I do it? Should I trip Knox? Should I install TWRP?"
I've rooted and flashed all my phones so far but there aren't any good ROMs yet for the S6 which would make that decision a really good one...

I've been using iPhones for years before my S6. Every single iPhone I've had since the 3GS I've always jailbroken and hacked. I was certainly not going to care about Knox now that I have an android.
I'm using XtreStoLite ROM and loving it.

How to make Samsung Pay work after root then go back to stock?

i have previously rooted my S7 Edge, but I am now looking to sell it, so I already put it back to factory settings and stock rom, Now when I try to open Samsung pay it says unauthorized modifications have been made to my device so it cant use Samsung pay. Is there a way to fix this and keep the phone on a stock rom?
No currently known method. You have irreversibly tripped your Knox e fuse by rooting it. Rendering Samsung pay permanently disabled.
Maybe you can sell it as rooted? Not sure how the second hand market for phones work, but maybe more desirable to some?
I won't ever use Samsung Pay. But Samsung's ridiculous insistence of permanently marking a phone that has had any form of customisation (remember, more than just rooting trips Knox) and then disabling a service they offer as a result, even if you take that phone completely back to stock, is precisely why my S7E is the last from them I'll buy.
F**k them, in short.
i thought if you just reflash it with the original firmware through odin, you'll be able to use it back. I did it with my rooted verizon s7edge, then reflash it with u firmware and i can just use samsung pay normally.
You're mistaken. If you rooted your phone, you tripped Knox, which on this architecture is an efuse that you can't rectify. This will stop Samsung Pay working indefinitely no matter what ROM you run, stock or otherwise.

then my phone, however unlikely it seemed, must have not understood it correctly that it must function that way. Because between august and now, I rooted my G935V, then I reflash G935U firmware through ODIN and rooted the phone again, and I ended up going back to using it without root. I still can use samsung pay in the device. Swearsies realsies. Although I dont have that level of faith and certainty to break knox in my G955U.
As far as I know, there are root methods that does not trip Knox eFuse, what, for sure, will trip Knox eFuse is installing unofficial ROMs.

True. I did the same. The first thing i did was root my S7 edge. But i didnt like it (too much lag) and went back to stock(odin). After that, everything is working Including Samsung Pay.I dont know why people are saying that you cant use Samsung Pay after odin the stock firmware.

If I have to guess, this may have something to do with SD vs Exynos, because my snapdragon Verizon s7edge able to use spay after reflashing it to U firmware via ODIN. However, when I re-flash my s8 exynos with odin to some unlocked firmware, it recognize that I have tripped knox and voided my warranty. Although this one had TWRP and unlocked bootloader.
I just rooted my s7 Edge SM-G935F to load the Oreo Rom posted this week. After getting the poor Wifi I re-flashed it back to stock and was surprised (yes I know - I should have read first) that S-Health and Samsung Pay refused to work.
Bit of a pain as I have a Gear S3 also, which has lost functionality.
But, I have reflashed several times since, trying to get everything back to stock, including restoring from a Samsung Switch backup.
I have no idea what I did, but after one of the flash processes, Samsung Pay started working fine - I added my cards etc. no problem. As S-Health wasnt working, I tried to edit the system files to fix that...
And ended up doing another flash and Samsung Pay is broken again.
So there is something that allows Samsung Pay to work after Knox has been tripped. Unfortunately, I cannot replicate it again, so it may just be a random bug.
Samsung Pay and S Health not working after rooting.
Once you modify your S7 Edge and trigger knox you cannot use Samsung Pay again, even if you re-flash stock firmware. But S Health you can but you have to flash Marshmallow 6.0 firmware and set your phone up from start and update all your apps and then open S Health and set it all up. Then just go to software update settings OTA ( Over the Air ) and update your phone to the latest firmware Nougat 7.0 and when your phone restarts after updating automatically go to S Health and it'll work. There may be a simpler way of doing it but thats how I did it after stupidly rooting my S7 Edge SM-G935F Exynos European unlocked BTU firmware.
You can use shealth by just editing a line in build.prop but not samsung pay.
i try any way for worked s-health but heartrate sensor dont work any more after rooting...how can fix this sensor worked again ?
But does not work at all? I would like to root my Exynos S8 but I like the loyalty card feature because the ability to use it even in old barcode scanners, I can't find any other app that can use the IR blaster for doing that.
It's the only feature that I wouldn't want to lose... As I pay with my bank app that can work with Magisk Hide.

this is incorrect. i have a galaxy A8 (2018) and i tripped knox on it about 5 months ago and have not been able to use samsung health, but have used samsung pay just fine. I got tired of the inability to use sammy health and decided to flash twrp and magisk to block ads (since i wasnt getting the benefit of not being rooted) and lost use of samsung pay. I am going to do the process mentioned below and see what it yields.

i hope this is the fly in the ointment. Knox isnt the issue, its something else that has yet to be discovered. As stated above, my knox has been tripped for quite some time and sammy pay worked without issue. My issue only surfaced after flashing twrp and magisk
following up on the issue of tripping knox causing samsung pay to not work. Ive been back on stock firmware, unrooted with knox DEFINITELY tripped for the last few weeks, and i can happily report that it works fine both on the phone and my Gear S3 Frontier. Knox is NOT the culprit

pie beta 4. hmmmm. how did you get this ROM on your phone? if youre rooted, then no SPay for you. You can restore the functionality of SPay by downloading the stock firmware from sammobile.com and flashing it via Odin

I downloaded the Pie rom from the XDA forum and flashed it with SD Card. I'm not rooted but have a tripped knox, so I think no SPay for me. I already downloaded the stock firmware from sammobile, but I had the same issue.
