[Q] How to Unroot Note 3 SM-N900?

Hello,
1) How do I unroot my Note 3 SM-N900 model.
2) I know my warranty is void as I rooted the phone, but was just wondering if theres any way I could unroot and reset knox counter as well. I highly doubt this is possible but just wanted to confirm.

1) There's an option on supersu for unroot, I've never tried it but if it doesn't work you could always flash a stock rom with odin.
2) There isn't yet. It's doubtful that there'll be a method to fix it but we can't know for sure. (In Chainfire we trust )

Chainfire mentioned himself that knox counter issue is hard to solve as it's integrated in android system as layer and there might not be a chance in future that knox issue can be solved. But still I had to root my device cause what's the use of an android device anyway if there's no freedom to root??? I think device manufacturers themselves should rather put an option at first boot to allow us to root our devices at first place instead of making things harder!!!

Too many cases of idiots rooting these days. They grab one of those toolkits and use it to root without really bothering to take the time to understand what they are actually doing or what the risks are. Next thing they bricked it and they send it back to claim warranty. Either that or they succeed and do something dumb like over clocking until it starts smoking then claim warranty.
Of course there are plenty of competent modders out there too but there must be enough abortions going on that Samsung need to do something about it. They aren't actually stopping us from rooting mind, they are only safeguarding against fraudulent claims on warranty after it goes wrong.

Can anyone confirm if option 1 is working?
Also, can I modify SM-N900 to work on AWS network (Wind Mobile/Mobilicity). I am thinking of selling this phone and getting the snapdragon version. and I have a buyer who wants to work the phone on wind.

I'm thinkin you are right. I have a buddy that works for one of the manufactures and they have a whole department dedicated to "returns". And return numbers are much much higher than they want them to be. So anything that will bring those numbers down at all, they will do!

I would also like to know if it is possible to unroot and reset knox on the n900.
As for the warranty goes, I think that if you bring the device back because the usb port or ear phone jack or the home button fails, this should be repaired regardless if you rooted your phone.
Can you overclock your home button? What about the power button and vol up?

There are rooting methods without tripping Knox and in those cases removing root will bring phone back to original 100%, so to speak. However once tripped, I'm not aware of any way to undo Knox flag. The method above does not mention anything about Knox and I'm 90% sure it does not remove Knox flag, it just removes the root using Chainfire method.
However, rooted phone shows up as custom right away in about menu and it's easy to see, where Knox flag only shows up in download menu and it's more involved to find, therefore the chances are, unless it is Samsung service, they may not look or even care about Knox flag as long as it doesn't show custom/rooted, especially that Knox is only Samsung thing.
I agree 100% "genius" customers are the reason for all the blocks and lockdowns on our phones. I just read some thread about some Einstein calling customer care asking them for help in rooting the phone, I'm kidding you not and he went on and on how useless the service department is when they tried to explain that they not support custom programing etc.

I agree that manufacturers should allow for root access, however carriers would lose their minds. It (and im basing this on the sweat of others) appears that doing a hotspot that doesn't eat the data allowed by the carrier is super easy once root access is granted. But to the point, I agree that ROOT should be given as an option OTB.

UNROOT GALAXY Note 3 (SM N 900)
I bought Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in USA. And the device is an unlocked to use in every operators in North, Central, South America and Caribbean. Actually I bought the phone to use in Sri Lanka, since it was not compatible in Sri Lanka I found a guy who unlock it. To be honest I didn't know that he was going to root my phone until I tried to update my phone. It says " The device has been modified..no updates are available" That guy has rooted the device in superSU.
But I want to unroot my phone to the factory status. And I tried my self to completely unroot in the setting of superSU. And I did it..but there were no any changes in the status of my phone "CUSTOM" And I uninstalled the superUS. When I install it again through Play Store, it says "There is no US binary installed.And Super US by cannot be installed"
So please tell me how to unroot my phone to the original status to update it. Because I tried to find the firmwares, the safest and easiest way of unrooting. But I could not find it as I do not know what's is my Region code and other related details. Can anyone tell me how to do it or can you send any links to download them please ? hello guys.
@britton1981 requested me for this Script for removing KNOX.
I dont own the device itself. But it was pretty easy to do.
As the name suggest this is just a Script that removes KNOX crap that block su from time to time.
Try and be rid of the knox.
I havent yet tested this becuase i dont have the device.

Britton1981 told me to create a script so i did without seeing if these is a knox firmware or not:silly::silly::silly::silly::silly:

The Virgin Mobile S3 does in fact have Knox bootloader as well as apps in the latest update to 4.3 (build MK5) so yes there is an S3 with Knox firmware. I can promise you because I spent a good twenty four hours straight fighting it to achieve root access

Well I postes it in sgh-lp710 that is sprint s3 general forum so try finding there. Its lost.. I could not find it again. Maybe even mod deleted it but I didnt get notified

[Q] General inquiry about KNOX and FW types

Hello all,
I searched the forums round and round, and couldn't find my answers so I hope you will be able to help me out.
i'm looking for a new phone and decided I want to go with the S5. that was before i learned about KNOX and it's wonderful ways.
i'm a heavy modder, who will most definitely use a custom recovery and ROM/kernel.
my questions are:
1. would it be possible to flash a custom recovery / rom / kernel / modem despite KNOX being preset?
2. other then getting this 0x1 and voiding my official warranty, are there any other result to this? will something not work?
3. assuming I get an unlocked international phone, is there any need to mess/change my FW? or is that just part of guides for rooting without tripping KNOX ?
Basically, I want to be sure that I could do whatever I want to the phone without getting stuck or turning it unusable because of KNOX. my current phone is a Nexus 4 and it has been heaven. I want to preserve this feeling

Did you tried Towelroot method for rooting your device? I heard that doesn't trigger knox..

I would imagine my rooting the phone is the least of my worries.
as far as I know - and this is one of my questions - flashing a custom recovery and or rom will 100% trip KNOX.
not that I care, I just need to know if this is true..and my other questions as well

If you - as you say "i'm a heavy modder" Samsung phones are not for you

I've heard tales of people having issues flashing modems when knox is triggered. I have not checked that out for myself Joe have I searched any further into the matter.
I plan on breaking knox soon though because screw knox.

I don't really care about KNOX, and as long as I can mod away and jump back and forth between modems/roms/kernels - I don't care for the warranty.
If indeed there is truth in the matter, and modem flashing will become a problem if KNOX is tripped, then this would be a deal breaker for me on this phone.

You can, but you will always have problems like network, connection,calls, bugs and so on
Samsung devices do not provide the old pleasure as previously
Knox killed freedom of developers and people who like customizations

No, KNOX tripping is only at the moment a warranty void solution for samsung. its like the flash count flags.
basically if you trip knox. you're already in it. you do what you want

I bought my phone with ANCE firmware and the KNOX was tripped in the first hour by CF-AutoRoot. Now I'm on ANG2, flashed with Odin and the modem is updated correctly.

Exactly, but with full stock image flush (including bootloader). The full stock tar.md5 form sammobile includes the modem/bootloader/rom. I think that the important thing is to have a modem which is compatible with the bootloader (same version). Didn't try to mix different bootloader/modem(baseband) versions.

Tripping KNOX will only disable the feature which allows you to store some data on a encrypted part of the device (Mostly comercial use) when KNOX is tripped any data stored on the 'special' partition is destroyed.
So there are only 2 things that will be affected, your warranty (Not a problem in Europe) and the special partition that I explained earlier.

To root or to not root your Note 4!

Hi All,
I have been a samsung user for a long time and use to flash f*** it all the time and root the phone.
I need root to remove all unused bloatwate.
Since there is no way knox warranty bit can be reset upon root, i was wondering whether note 4 can be rooted without tripping the knox warranty.
Also, will the warranty be void if the knox bit is tripped? Cant we get it serviced even for a hardware issue? Although i have never faced any hardware issues within an year.

Hi lycan_codex, based from what I've read the knox bit is hardware connected so once tripped it can't be reversed unless you replace the chip itself.
I would have also wanted to root my new Note 4 but it carries with it a 2 year warranty.

u want to delete bloatware you have to be rooted or wait for a rom that does not have the bloat. Yes root will be needed. If your phone malfunctions and you tripped KNOX you can still get it repaired just make sure you unroot flash a stock firmware before getting it repaired. Or you can hope someone makes a no KNOX trip which last I heard Towelroot did not last to long

Thankfully with canadian phones you can disable 90% of the apps :laugh:

since about 90% of bloat can be desactived....personally I"m gonna wait to see if there's a root without tripping knox who could go out soon....on the note 3 guy where able to root without tripping knox...so

To puss or not puss.... just root it.

Have been rooting every Samsung from galaxy s1 to s4 then note 3 to note 4. Cannot live without a rooted phone. From restoring my apps data with titanium, navbar customisations, root just makes it so much easier to use the handset. Have never ran into any problems like phone breaking down due to root so for me root is essential.

samsung service center returned my note3 once they found out it had been rooted and tripped knox so i smashed the screen on and claimed on my house insurance :angel:
Im going to wait a bit longer before i root , its a bit early yet for custom roms

Congrats and relax!
I recommend getting 'abp' ad block since you're now rooted. It will block all anoying ads from aps and browsers. Also the blocked ads make chrome run even faster. SDMAID is a must also.
No risk No Reward [emoji3]

The manual states if you change anything eg root there is no warranty.

LOL I had to do that first but you should have returned to stock firmware before taking it in but it seems you turned lemons into lemonade. Depending on your carrier roms will be up in no time

I'm planning on upgrading, but I was told the Note 4 *isn't* rootable or flashable, only the dev version is? (Verizon version)

I always root my phone since i joined xda with Galaxy S1, S3, Note 2, and now Note 4. But now on 5.1.1 Note 4, I'm satisfied with the phone's performance without root. Rooting my Note 4 on 5.1.1 breaks the Screen Mirroring functionality. I'm always using Screen Mirroring to my Samsung TV. At present I can't be satisfied without it.

Have you tried adding wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable to your build.prop? It should get Screen Mirroring working with root.

definitely root it if you don't care for your warranty, i rooted my F 5.1.1, with stock rootable kernel, and i didnt even disable everything i can, and i'm getting literally 2 days of batery, with 4h screen on time, i know it's not much, but my not rooted one lasted only 2-2:30.. Cheerz

1. Is the Note 4 still rootable if it's on the latest Lollipop?

The thing that stops me from doing that is the damned warranty that decays with Knox -.-" Till now the phone hasn't got any problems,nor I had to contact the customer care for issues. My question is,would it be worth to trip knox for modding it? And if the phone has any issue,can I avail myself of the European law on Android Phones? Sorry If this may be noob questions,but I'd really want to start mod my S5,and the only thing which stops me is Knox..

As for its it worth it to trip Knox, if you can avoid it great, it's your choice in the end but to me... I will never own a stock phone as long as XDA exists.. Just my opinion.

I knew of this,but it's only for root. I would install TWRP or CWM, and the CM12 Alpha..so knox gets tripped anyway no?

Yes, as soon as you install recovery, you trip Knox.
I don't think you can install CM12 without a recovery so yup, a choice has to be made.
I also have insurance on my phone so I think it is worth the risk for the enjoyment I get from fooling it.

I tripped mine 3 hours after I bought it, this is my 4th phone and all have been modded so I guess my opinion is obvious.

It is worth it, I tripped my know the same day of purchase, to me warranty isn't an issue.

Well,I kept mine stock with knox unaltered cause the first months there could be problems. I am 4th month now and no problems still....what will I lose apart the warranty? I read that fingerprinter scanner could not work anymore,right?

Fingerprint scanner still works on tw roms after knox 0x1.
Edit: just enabled Fingerprint scanner and it is working perfect.

Just an FYI, no fingerprint scanner, and no heartbeat sensor, and no tw camera on any aosp or cm based ROM. If you'll miss those don't even bother tripping Knox.
No one reads, searches anymore.
