I searched the whole forum and couldn't find an answer.... I flashed the new KitKat official ROM with the radio and everything is working perfectly but I miss all the features I had on 4.3.1. So I tried to restore the backup I did before flashing and it stays stuck on the Google logo..... What did I do wrong or am I missing something?

Maybe you didn't do a factory reset to clear the cache. What method did you use to update to 4.4 and what method are you using to restore 4.3?

restore via twrp and flashed 4.4 by wiping everything and flashed the 4.4 update zip with the 0.97 radio
you can delete thread now, i flashed the 27-84 radio and now everything is back to normal booted up to my recent rom thanx

I was using Kangabean ROM found in the development section for a few days but was unhappy with my wifi and data connectivity and was unable to solve it so I figured id try a new rom and see what happened. Well I downloaded and tried flashing Super nexus 3.0.
I'm a telus I337M and i thought I could flash this rom even though its ATT because of this thread, I flashed my stock kernel and then the rom, but when I went to flash the rom it failed instantly. So I than rebooted my phone and it hung on the bootscreen. I than wipe/factory reset and re-flashed kangabean rom and KTs kernal because i knew it worked. Everything flashed, I wiped cache/delvik after install but when i went to reboot TWRP said root is not detected....swipe to install superSU, but no matter what I do my phone restarts and always gets stuck at the boot screen.
I have access to TWRP and Download mode so I am currently downloading the stock rom and kernal. I also have my stock nandroid backup before i originally rooted and flashed a custom rom. Whats my best course of action to take? Do I flash the stock rom through odin than factory reset in recovery?
Thanks for any and all help in advance. I'm pretty "green" when it comes to this stuff so any help is appreciated
I'd use the nadroid backup first that way you don't have to worry about loading a recovery to the s4 or wait to download the firmware. If that doesn't work Odin stock.

Just to update you guys in case anyone else has my issue in the future. I tried restoring my stock nandroid, however when I went into twrp and tried to recover it but was unable to because it showed my sd card as empty.....I'm assuming because I somehow lost root access.
Unable to flash my nandroid I downloaded the telus stock rom and flashed it via Odin. My phone is now functional again as we'll as re rooted. I restored my files via titanium backup but I noticed one big issue. My wifi doesn't work...I can access the Internet via my data plan but not wifi. Any idea as to how to fix this?
I also notice this telus stock rom has a lot more bloat than what my s4 originally had when purchased from the telus store. Not that that's as issue cuz I can disable it but I'm just curious as to why? On the notification bar there is also an N beside the wifi symbol with its own wifi looking symbol that was never there before.....what is this??
Hey,
Today in between flashing a new ROM i went back to 4.2.2 cm10.1.2, just to check some things out before flashing a 4.3 ROM that i was intending to do in the first place.
However after having reverted to 4.2.2 when i went and install the 4.3 ROM i noticed i had no signal, since then i've tried flashing the radio and boot from 4.3 Factory Image via fastboot, tried installing a different 4.3 ROM, all with no success.
What can I do?
Btw i still get signal in 4.2.2
Thanks.

Check APN settings?
How do I do that?
Also the phone app just crashes totally when I try to do anything with it, even entering airplane mode triggers that.

You should do a clean wipe before you flash 4.3 from an older version, do a factory reset and wipe the system partition, then flash 4.3 rom.
via xda app
It might have to do with TWRP.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45323439
Try flashing TWRP 2.6.0.0 then proceed from there to flash your rom.
I guess i forgot to mention, i did a clean install, i factory reset before reverting.
And i have TWRP installed, I've tried several ROMs and in all of 4.3 ROMs i dont have signal and the Phone app FCs when i try to use it.
On that note, does TWRP Factory Reset wipes System Partition?
Factory reset does wipe system partition except /data/media.
Flash TWRP 2.6.0.0 (this version)
Factory reset
Flash Rom
Flash Gapps
Flash Modem
Flash Kernel
Flash Supersu
Wipe caches
Reboot
Btw, here is some insight on what to wipe in TWRP:
http://teamw.in/whattowipe
Oh I just saw your previous post, didn't understand it at first but now that I think about it I do actually have 2.6.1.0.
Ill try what you said and report back.
Thanks.

It worked, thanks alot!
I tried CM11 for a few days. But since pie control is a crap in CM11 I tried to revert to CM10.2
I flashed the JWR66Y bootloader (z20) and radio (.84), then then cm10.2 and the 4.3 gapps.
But after reboot I get a FC (com.android.process.acore stopped) and then a bootloop.
I googled and found out, that this may depend on the way, a newer version stores the contacts. I flashed back to CM11 (working), stopped syncing, deleted the contacts and tried to flash CM10.2 again - same result.
So - is there a way to go back to 10.2?
I did, flashed radio & bootloader via sideload, then flash rom and gapps from recovery

I flashed radio and bootloader via fastboot, rom via recovery and gapps via sideload. Is there a difference between flashing via sideload and fastboot?
Will try your way tomorrow.

Might be easier just to flash the 4.3 factory image, flash recovery, root and then cm10.2? That way everything gets wiped cleanly.

Wiping cleanly is exactly the point I try to avoid.
I'd like to hear if your successful downgrading without a clean wipe. Let us know.

Trying to install CM11 on Note 3 international Qualcomm. Rooted with CF-Autoroot, flashed TWRP with Recovery Tools and then booted into recovery and wiped everything and installed CM11 nightly from SDCARD. It came up as 'FAILED'.
I did a backup but internal storage is not showing up and I wiped it afterwards. I have backed up original recovery.
I also tried flashing a previously nightly with no luck. Also tried flashing this: [OnLine][07.02.2014] X-NOTE build 9.0 N9005 NA7 4.4.2 - flashes successfully but does not boot from samsung splash screen.
I was on stock 4.3 prior to doing any rooting etc..
How do I get back to stock 4.3 or successfully install 4.3?
Thanks in advance.
Can't get back to 4.3 once you've upgraded your boot loader - which it appears you have done with x note 9. look at the TWRP thread and get the version for KK and it should work.
If by some reason your BL hasn't upgraded, then just flash a 4.3 rom.

Yesterday I was normally on the cm11 nightlies, and decided to go back to 4.2.2 stock tmobile, just to update to kk . I loaded my stock backup, and all went fine. It downloaded an update, did not say what just system update and after that it restarted to twrp recovery. Tried rebooting to system, but all it does is boot back to twrp. What I saw is that it reverted back from 2.6.4 to 2.6.3 version. Flashed the 2.6.4 version from my folder, and the same happens. Tried restoring my backups, taking long but to no avail. Right now I have a bootloop to twrp and don't know what to do. My computer doesn't even recognize phone. Not even usb otg shows up.

There are threads in this very section that will explain what you have to do. Note, never take an ota with a custom recovery!

Problem solved. I downloaded 4.4.2 stock rom to my otg and mounted on my phone.then flashed from there.
