Ok I am doing a warranty claim on my phone through ATT. So I need to unroot my phone and get it back to stock, not a problem. My question is, I have everything backed up using nandroid, to get the new handset I'm getting from ATT to be just like how mine is do I just need to root it then do a nandroid restore?
That "should" load everything back onto the new phone just like my current one is correct?
Thanks guys

Make sure you backup the new phone before trying it, that way you won't have any risk trying it at least.
Hello,
I've just ordered Huawei Ideos X5 (U8800). It's sim-lock free.
I would like to make a full backup of my phone, so that I can restore it completely to the state I got it. I get the impression I need to root it first, but that voids the waranty.
Can I restored to 100% factory spec, so that they cannot tell it's been rooted?
That's my basis before starting to root, messing with ROMs (if I will ever do that)
Thanks,
Tom
Ps: If anyone has a good site that explains the basics, I could use that
Hello guys!
Just bought my N7, really nice device, and I want to unlock the bootloader.
I looked around for a bit, and saw Wugfresh's toolkit will be the best way to unlock&root. So here's my question:
If I backup my N7 then unlock and after that restore my backup, is the bootloader still unlocked?
I'm searching for a way to unlock my device without having to wipe data. Do you've got any suggestions?
If there's no way, that's no problem for me, but I forgot to unlock when I started using my N7.
Thanks in advance,
Jasper

Unlocking your bootloader wipes all data, in that you are right. I lost all my progress in GTA vice city! ... But I am not sure you can backup all your data pre-unlock and restore it completely after. Maybe you can try TB. Save the backup on your PC, and restore the filles after rooting. That method at least won't do anything to your bootloader. I am not sure if you were thinking of any other way to backup. I *think* Wugfresh's backup method was to make a Nandroid (so, after unlocking and rooting). I didn't try it though. It's a great toolkit, nonetheless. Worked without any hitches for me. It's laid out in a detailed manner - with screenshots of exactly what you'll see in your screen (so no need to freak out at weird messages!)
I was too eager to root, so I just went for it! Needless to say, it was totally worth it!
Hope that helps. Cheers.

I'm just going for it, all the important things I did on my N7 were synced with my Google account. Thanks!
Hello there everyone, this is my very first thread and yes I did run a search but couldn't find ALL the information I was looking for.
I intend to use Nandroid as a complete restore-point so I could go back if I mess things up. And the phone would be like "What problems bro, shiet never happened to me". Lets say I want to try a custom ROM/Kernel/Anything but I am not sure whether it will work as I expect it to, it could brick my device. I don't know. My questions are:
1. If I make a complete Nandroid backup will it be able to bring my mobile back to life should things go wrong?
2. Will my Boot-loader stay unlocked? (I will make the backup after unlocking/flashing TWRP/rooting)
3. Will it preserve all essential things like ROM/Kernel/Custom Recovery (TWRP)/SuperSU/BusyBox? (I don't care about multimedia stuff)
Basically, is it a time-machine?
Replies are much appreciated, Thanks!
1. Yes, so long as it isn't a hardware fault
2. Yes
3. Yes as it is a complete snap-shot of the system in its entirety
Whoa, insanely fast reply!
Thanks mate, you cleared my doubts!

I also got some questions.
Is there any way to get a nandroid with my stock room, i mean, just do the nandroid backup without root, unlock bootloader etc... etc.. ?
Will I receive OTA updates from Google if I just unlock bootloader, root and change Kerne (trinity) l/ install Custom Recovery (TWRP)/SuperSU/BusyBox ?
I'm asking it because I have huge problems with my Sound (phones, speakers / they are to weak) and with my Vibration .... ugh, its weak too. Any hints about it ?
Thanks a lot!

You can't do a Nandroid Backup if you have the stock recovery. You need a custom one for that. And for a custom recovery, you need to unlock your bootloader.

Contact and such will be on your gmail. For app data use Helium.
Alternatively you can do adb backup but that's what Helium does with much less hassle.
