How long until Xposed support for 4.4 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey. Just curious his long it would take the Xposed developers to get those mods running on 4.4. I mean obviously this is just for conversation purposes but do you think it will be a big thing getting it set up for Kit Kat.? Few days to move them over? Weeks? I've got the official 4.4 on my Nexus 7 and really a lot of it seems the same. Almost seems like a pointless update.. So what do you guys think?

Oops. Posted before Googling. Should have known better. The Xposed developer says 4.4 changed a lot of stuff and he needs to get it working on 4.4. He is waiting on the Nexus 5 to leave the warehouse on November 22. So I would say at least sometime in early to mid December... Dang. Kinda makes me wish I wasn't waiting on an OTA. This situation keeps looking less exciting.. :what:

Thanked for Googling.
Don't worry. All good things come to those who wait. It's like this a lot with Android, as I'm sure you know. The anticipation is part of the fun.

Glad ya caught yourself lol also you'd be surprised just how much has actually changed in 4.4 it may not look it at a quick glance but it's like BOOM. All up in your face.

What happened to the stock camera live effects?

Was it just an exclusive feature to the galaxy nexus/ ICS?
Is there anyway to port the camera app to work with nexus 4?

its the same on the n4 as its on the gnex with jelly bean. the effects are in the gallery. when you go to a picture, on the bottom right are 3 intertwined circles. press that. the only difference in the camera app between both nexus is that the n4 has an hdr option. other than that, they are the same.

look at the date on that video. different versions of android had different camera setting. i also have a gnex, those dont exist in jelly bean.
I mourned the loss of this with Jelly Bean's arrival on my Gnex. Seems to have been lost and forgotten, which is unfortunate as it was always hilarious with friends.

Yea there's an ICS camera on the play store but it doesn't work to well with my nexus 4, the effects work but constant crashes and force closes, was never supported to work on JB, wonder if It's possible to get a good port

That's an awfully useless answer. Updates are supposed to add and fix features, not remove them. It's quite odd that they would take out a feature they had on 4.0 in 4.2.

LOL? You are comparing your S2 with S4? S2 is released on 2011, now we are 2013. It is obvious that you have ton of devs for S2.
S4 is barely released and you already want developpers to release app for S4? Do you know how many time do they developpers take to program an app? It is not as easy as talking, you know?
the phone still new dude
after 1 month sure got a lot developer already
yet, s2 is 2 years old ago phone, off course got a lot developer =_=
Yeah to be fair you're right. It has been pretty much a whole week now. They get paid so much for this work anyway that they should be working weekends too.

Light hearted banter mate. Just give it some more time. Not only is it still pretty new but Samsung are also still rolling out updates that change the environment as well (obvious one is the change to rooting for example)

Nothing but hear say,
4.2.3, 4.3.3? Neither exists, not even for Nexuses.
We have 4.2.2 and 4.3.0, though.

Latest rumors are that Samsung is already working in version 4.3 for samsung galaxy s3, so I expect the update to come even earlier.
LOL, just hope it'll be ready before Android 5, or else samsung is never going to catch up with the latest firmware. They haven't even release android 4.2, and they're suposed to be working on Android 4.3? What a joke.
Either way, I gave up waiting for the laggy Samsung firmwares.. even Omega or ARHD start lagging after a while.

Seriously, what is in 4.4 that frustrates you not having it in 4.3.1? What magical hardware feature is going to be unlocked when you load 4.4? I'm curious because from what I can see of 4.4 there is very little of interest to most people other than being on the latest.

Assuming, of course, that this is actually a part of 4.4. Since the purchase only recently closed (what, maybe a week ago?) I question whether Google has had the time and opportunity to integrate this into 4.4. Seems more likely that this would be a cornerstone of a 5.0 release given the timing. <sarcasm> And with the stunning amount of information we have available on 4.4 </sarcasm>, I think it is safe to say we'll have to wait until there is a 4.4 release before we know for sure.

From the little news we heard about the takeover was that they were already integrated into the Android team for several months. But the takeover might be a reason for the delay, that although the work was done the legal matters took longer than expected before they could be finalized.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it is a part of 4.4. Until the deal closed, it would have been unwise of Google (legally speaking) to release any version of Android with Flexycore code built in. That may explain a little of the delay in seeing a Nexus 5 as well as having a 4.3 release. It just seems from a marketing perspective, though, that they might steal a lot of thunder from a 5.0 release by putting tech in 4.4 which gives such a performance boost. But then Google doesn't follow the same marketing path everyone else does, now do they?
Maybe he's excited about the few new UI integrations? Not a big deal but some people like it.

Assuming we saw an inadvertent picture of the Nexus 5 back at the beginning of September, it seems odd that here we are a few days away from 2 months later without even an announcement. The device back then looked a lot more production and less prototype. That says to me delay but no clear reason why. Granted it is an assumption on my part (and maybe I am reading a lot into nothing more than a picture) and I do not have strong feelings one way or the other about it, nor do I think there is some nefarious plan to keep either the Nexus 5 or KitKat from us. I am also more than willing to admit that I am wrong, but in the end I am just engaging in speculation to keep myself busy until something more definitive comes along.

I don't believe it'll be exactly on the day. They say 15 days from its announcement. 4.4 was announced on a Thursday. I give them props for the confidence in releasing dates so soon unlike Samsung that just has nothing really. If they do deliver on their promise of today/tomorrow, that'd be awesome.
Someone on reddit posted it might be 15 workdays, which might make more sense and is probably likely if it isn't released today or tomorrow.
Football did tweet that 4.4 GE was nearly finished/ready for rollout and sense 5.5 on android 4.4 was in early testing.
We'll see, I guess. I'm probably gonna convert to GE until android 4.4 + Sense 5.5 comes out.

Will the HTC One for the US (the Unlocked) omit the 4.3 update and go straight to 4.4 KitKat?
Although I'm not that eager for 4.4 it's the fact that we still don't have the new Sense yet that makes me ask.

It already has 4.3. If you're talking about Sense 5.5, then no, it won't get it until it gets the 4.4 update.
The details of the KitKat rollout for the HTC One were shared in an interview with Engadget.
http://www.engadget.com/2013/10/31/htc-one-android-kitkat/
Here are the highlights:
HTC one GPe within 15 days,
HTC One Developer Edition within 30 days
All other North American HTC One SKUs (including all carrier variants) within 90 days
These details were shared on October 31. For HTC to keep the deadline, the HTC One GPe update will need to be released tomorrow and the Dev Edition needs to get its update by the end of November.
