What happened to the stock camera live effects? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Was it just an exclusive feature to the galaxy nexus/ ICS?
Is there anyway to port the camera app to work with nexus 4?

Bump
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium

its the same on the n4 as its on the gnex with jelly bean. the effects are in the gallery. when you go to a picture, on the bottom right are 3 intertwined circles. press that. the only difference in the camera app between both nexus is that the n4 has an hdr option. other than that, they are the same.

look at the date on that video. different versions of android had different camera setting. i also have a gnex, those dont exist in jelly bean.

I mourned the loss of this with Jelly Bean's arrival on my Gnex. Seems to have been lost and forgotten, which is unfortunate as it was always hilarious with friends.

Yea there's an ICS camera on the play store but it doesn't work to well with my nexus 4, the effects work but constant crashes and force closes, was never supported to work on JB, wonder if It's possible to get a good port

That's an awfully useless answer. Updates are supposed to add and fix features, not remove them. It's quite odd that they would take out a feature they had on 4.0 in 4.2.

I have both sgs2 and gnex, to be honest I like sgs2 more. not fan of blue theme, too damn hard to read under direct sunlight. but if you wanna pure Google experience then Gnex is the way to go. not to mention there are many talented devs in gnex section. good luck.

Because development is a lot easier on nexus phones, they have more dev support and also all the updates are pushed by google themselves. So yeah they are better!
Who cares ?
When i was his age i most certainly did not fall in love with a phone . It must be the chemicals they put in the water .

It's funny how the only phone that competes with the SGS2 is a Samsung built AOSP phone... And there are tons of SGS2 users that go to Gnex. But no Vice-versa.

Heh. Looks like different experiences. I've seen alot of gnex for sale on Kijiji at ridiculously low prices, so you may be right. On these forums though, I've only seen people leaving to the gnex forums as of now...
The SGS2 in Canada annoys though, 3 different phones: Galaxy S2X from Telus, i9100M from Bell/Virgin, Galaxy S2 LTE from Rogers...

Oh don't get in a hurry. They completed a feat of epic proportions to launch this with JB. Rest assured they will rest on their laurels and update 4.2 when they feel like it. I predict 8+ months after the official US launch, sadly.
I'm actually fine with JB, I could care less with multiple accounts as the only time someone else will be using my phone is for a game or a phone call. JB w/ Proj Butter is all I need

Yeah, that's what I had read too. It's called project roadrunner.
It will be interesting to see how much more it improves the already stellar battery life of the note 2. That is if the rumors are even true.

EVEN if the rumor was true about 4.2 having much better battery life. It'll matter more to that HTC 1080p device than the Note 2, considering how good the battery life is on the Note 2 -and- the fact that it's removable.

Because Android is hardware agnostic, meaning it is not related to any particular device. It's not exclusive to the N7. This forum is specific for N7 related issues. Which is why such a question in this forum is out of place.

Latest rumors are that Samsung is already working in version 4.3 for samsung galaxy s3, so I expect the update to come even earlier.
LOL, just hope it'll be ready before Android 5, or else samsung is never going to catch up with the latest firmware. They haven't even release android 4.2, and they're suposed to be working on Android 4.3? What a joke.
