[Q] Any way to open"ART"on stock rom - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Any way to open"ART"on stock rom? I found ART on unofficial cm. any way to got it on stock kitkat?

Can we add the libart.so by ourself?

I've added the 2 (as far as I can tell) ART libs (libart.so and libart-compiler.so) to /system/libs. The switcher shows up after a reboot, but I can't switch to ART because it ends up in a bootloop. I've tried both libs built for the n7 2012 (from an AOSP rom), and from the nexus 5 port for the nexus 4.
My guess is something is missing, but I can't tell what.

[Q] Official AOKP users

Hello,
Tried many custom roms but usually end up coming back to the offical AOKP rom for the N4. I like the options and speed of the rom, find it very stable and use the theme engine. I haven't tried their 4.3 roms as they are all nightlies and I am always led to believe these are a bit risky for using as a daily driver. I use my phone for work and important things.
I have stayed with 4.2, but the only issue I have found is that the camera flash does not work. I have tried the latest stable 4.2 release, but then under instruction by aokp him/herself flashed the last 4.2 nightly as I was told there was a camera fix for that release. This was a clean install, I wiped and flashed.
Unfortunately I still cannot get the camera flash to work. I know my phone is not faulty as the flash works fine in Beanstalk, CM and other roms.
Anyone else experienced this?
The nightly releases for AOKP 4.3.1 are stable. Just make s nandroid backup and install them.

ThemeManager crash with Franco/Hells kernel
Hi,
Did anyone had issue with ThemeManager. It's crashing always while restarting phone. I tried Franco/Hells kernel and it happens on both. It's working correctly on standard kernel. I tried to set up stock theme/clean data in application. Nothing helps.

[AOSP][FIX] Streaming media fix

I don't know where to post/report this exactly... So I'm posting it here for now.
I've discovered that all the AOSP based ROM's for our OPO are missing some files, that causes an bug:
Some media/video streams on internet are not working, and causes an black frozen screen, after 1/2 minute(s) that you did try to start the video-stream... (You have to force reboot your device with the hardware buttons when you're experiencing this bug)
The Stock CM11S ROM doesn't have this bug, only ALL the AOSP ROM's.
So I've compared all the files differences between those 2 ROM's (latest 30O Stock ROM & latest CM11 nightly), and I discovered that the CM11 nightly (and all the other OPO AOSP based ROM's) are missing some files in the /system/vendor folder that are causing this bug...
I see that those files are included with CM11 niglties for other devices, but not with the CM11 nightlies for our OnePlus
And no, those files are also not included in ANY GAPPS package!!
Thus I've tried adding those files to the latest CM11 nightly that I have installed on my OPO... and guess what it did fix this problem, and video streams are now working properly (and not getting the black screen of dead anymore!)
The missing files that I'm talking about are the following ones:
/system/vendor/lib/mediadrm/libwvdrmengine.so
/system/vendor/lib/libwvdrm_L3.so
/system/vendor/lib/libwvm.so
/system/vendor/lib/libWVStreamControlAPI_L3.so
So I've made an flashable fix for this if you're also experiencing this bug.
You can use it on any AOSP based ROM.
The source of those files are the latest 30O CM11S Stock ROM.
Download for the AOSP Streaming FIX:
(NOT needed when you're on CM11S Stock based ROM's!!)

If anyone knows where I can report this bug to Cyanogenmod then let me know pls.
You can report bugs to cm here: https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/secure/Dashboard.jspa
Can you be more specific on how this problem is triggered? I've always ran CM nightlies and never had any trouble with streaming.
They have integrated the files/fix in nightly 20-8
See those links:
https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/CYAN-5071
http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/70794/
I can confirm the widevine files are present now. DRM media should work now.

[Q] Weird Colors after installing Franco Kernal

Hey guys,
I'm running the unofficial Cyanogenmod 11S on my Nexus 4 and just flashed Franco Kernel and am getting weird colours now. My screen also blinks at random times, anyway to fix this without factory resetting? Thanks
Flash your rom again without Franco kernel. It's the kernel that causes this behavior. Just re-flash your current rom/nightlie zip or whatever and it should be fine.

Wrong version of kernel used
I think most likely you have used the wrong kernel or not following installation instructions.
Whenever opt to install kernel, do look into the requirements:
a. for which version of android (4.4.4 ? 4.4.2? 5.0?)
b. what type of release of android (Cyanogenmod (CM/CAF)? AOSP? MIUI?)
c. installation method and steps (some kernels required to flash on top of stock kernel)
For now I would suggest that you find out the version and release of the android that you using currently and just flash the suitable kernel for it. The way i see it, you are using a cyanogenmod (CM), a CM compatible kernel will do.

Possibly genius way to make Xposed work with 5.0...

So im new to this but i was reading about how Xposed doesn't work with ART. Well....Is it possible to make a rom or a flashable mod to return the Dalvik method to 5.0? This would make Xposed compatible right?
Im new to this, just barely switched to android a matter of a couple weeks ago so sorry if this is totally not possible, just an idea.
From what I've read about XPOSED is that it does work for ART with the exception of Samsung Touchwiz based ROMS. The issue is Samsung tweaked the ART runtime, probably so their applications would run, and because of that, XPOSED causes a boot-loop when ran.
Also, and correct me if I'm wrong, Lollipop is based off of ART so a Dalvik version doesn't exist.
Edit: What I mean to say is, it was coded and built around ART and Dalvik was not a part of the code-base for Lollipop.

Should i go back to original android 7.0 instead of 7.1.2 nightly builds

hey guys
im actually thinking about going back to original andorid 7 with pure motorola experience with all functions working properly (7.1.2 builds has some problems with camera and battery drain)
is flashing back to 7.0 worth? Are all functions from our phone working properly?
To be fair i have installed custom audio mod, magisk and art optimization but i think its not nessesary.
