Edit Build.prop to make it look like phone - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to edit my build.prop so I can use NBA Game time on my Nexus 10. What lines do I edit?
I am rooted, unlocked and I have Root Browser and Total Commander.

Usually involves changing dpi and the device name. Can't tell you what to change it to because that would involve Googling it and that would be your job.

Oddly enough, that's how I found this thread. (Back to Google for me...)

Hi,
Can you please tell me to what phone you want to "turn your Nexus 10"?

Guide to Add Multitouch Rotation to Your Google Map 5.0

First you need Root Access to your Adam device and ability to text edit those files. There are several options - (1) ADB if you have it installed already or (2) Root Explorer (File Manager) by Speed Software in the Android Market (not free, but easiest method). Make sure R/W is enable in Root Explorer
1. Find /system/etc/permissions/handheld_core_hardware.xml
2. scroll down in the text and find this line: <feature name="android.hardware.touchscreen" />
3. Add the following code following it:
<feature name="android.hardware.touchscreen.multitouch" />
<feature name="android.hardware.touchscreen.multitouch.distinct" />
delete the space between distinct
4. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR CODE!!!!
5. Menu Button ==> Save and Exit
6. Restart your Adam
7. Have fun~
Good Luck!

special thanks for ptok for helping and suggesting how to enable this!
Cool, I thought it would be a fairly easy tweak to get that working. Looks very smooth, can wait to see it on my NI this week.
Keeewl. Can anyone tell me btw , how many points can be used in Adam's muliti touch ? 2 ? mb 5? or mb 10?) I guess it's only two
Two only it seems. I tried adding the code for jazztouch that's only found in 2.3 gingerbread, and it did not work. Tested it withmultitouch visualizarvisualizar

I think it has to do with the digitizer. My Sprint EVO with stock froyo detects 5 points, there were two versions, one with 3 point another with 5 point. Although you have to flash a custom kernel with 5 point enabled on the EVO, it would only work if you had the right screen.
I think there was initial mention that the Adam would come with 10 point in earlier blog posts. Wishes =/ cost effective, probably didn't allow for that..

According to the post/link on that thread this app has "unlimited" multi touch testing, not limited to 2-4,5 like others..
Tried it but looks like it requires the xml files for multitouch and multitouch distinct...
There is a space too many in "dist inct"
Ie replace "dist inct" by "distinct".
That added multitouch rotation to my Desire. No need for other types of XML files.
Can't imagine it being different for Adam.

Looks fine to me now.
I would remove your additional instruction to remove the space in distinct. Am sure people would get confused now ;-)
Btw thanks for all the videos you've posted thusfar. Have greatly strengthened my decision to order on next batch.

Rom integrated ad blocking...

Im running chris41g(?)s modded stock, and I was wondering if there was a way that I could integrate the awesome adblocking of the big roms myself... messing with i GUESS putting together my own rom, and this is the one thing of all I am missing the most. I guess I am getting old, just want a simple rom theme-wise, but love the tweaks... anyone wanna help? Trade secret? If its something relatively simple like using 7zip and changing a value, or something to adb push, I can do it... just dont know what method you use, and would love to be able to just do it myself. Gonna hit up chris to throw it in his rom, but id like to do it myself too... any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
You could include adfree app in the system/app location of the ROM. OR, you can use K0nane's method (which I am even unsure how it works.) ha

How would I go about that? sorry... should I just drag and drop this hosts file in /system... ? And how do I get the hosts file? Install the app and pull the file off the SD?
Thanks for the help... trying to learn to do some of this myself... course I get the motivation when I get a job after a year of unemployment... speaking of no job, anyone seen the new COD Zombies thing... ? freakin sweet
is the app itself good enough? I read an old thread complaining about it, but that was from early froyo... no angry birds ads???

Ive been all about the gears of war 3 beta atm,I just wish I could play like I want to,its down to about 4 hours on the weekend, and about 3 total during the work week. I even had to buy a used 360,my original one got the red ring, but it was an original 360 day one launch unit,so it sucked; Wish I could afford an elite, ohwell.

Im surprised a launch 360 made it that long.. that was one tough xbox. Yeah i have an OG 60 gig (now 320 7200rpm) PS3, from right after the blu drives got fixed... people say I should expect the ylod soon, but Im insane about my gear, most of it is in a server rack. I really need to get back into fallout vegas though, if they made a fallout mmorpg that played like the real game, I would never leave the house.
Anyways, thanks for the time on the adblocking... will try soon...
I put a zip to include adblocking in the op of my rom... its better than adfee because it doesn't block words with friends lol

did you open ad free so it can request super user permissions and download the latest host file? Usually have to reboot once afterwards. Works fine for me.

though it is kinda annoying seeing the .. error loading page errors...
itd be pretty cool if someone would compile a real trimmed down apache or other webserver that only serves up a blank image when being accessed, have it only listen on localhost, and point everything back to localhost (i guess thats done already), to get blank spots, instead of 'error loading'

[Q] Multi tasking? also help with root.

Hey guys, i have a few question.
I've just come back to android after being with apple for the past 3 years so i'm a little rusty.
Anyway, I saw a particular samsung device that was able to open two apps at once. So a web browser and then a note taking app or something. Is there a way to do that on the nexus? any app that will let me do that?
Also i tried to root mine yesterday (4.4.2 - Kitkat) And it was a nightmare. I had to do loads of weird **** with the drivers and it ended with my PC not recognising my device anymore. I have fixed that now, but is there a way to just one click root? Like plug it in, press a button and wala?
Thanks.
**Edit** also is there a way to get "free" apps to work? As in- Not licence check?
The multitasking like the note3 is proprietary and doesn't work natively on the n10 but I'm sure there is an app in the play store for that by now
For rooting
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
Boot to recovery
flash ROM of choice and any gapps needed, takes two minuets but if you absolutely need a one click option I'm sure a quick search will come up with one
Paid apps for free, aka warez, will be found on another site, not xda, best not to bring it up again or you're libel to get banned

Hi,
For multitasking you can use an app like Floating Apps. It's great! Here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lwi.android.flapps
There are some other apps like this one, but I believe you can find it with the "related apps" in Floating Apps.
For rooting and warez the guy above me already said everything you need to know ^^.

[Q] [Razer Forge] Anyone tried Rooting it yet?

So the Razer Forge is a nice little Android TV Device, but we can't use Netflix on it. But that's not the question here. My question is if anyone has gotten the bootloader unlocked and device Rooted? Has anyone been working on it? I also noticed when enabling developer options, that there were special "Razer Tools", which I don't quite know what they do.
Kingroot. But what is benefit of rooting it which apps are good for android tv with root.

Not sure if it required to root the device. I bought one 3 days ago and spent many hours trying to get it working the way I want. I tried all different factory roms etc., but still no Google Apps etc. Finally I found the post about using Air-Share. Air-Share shows as available for the NP in Google Play. Once installed, a web server runs on the device to which once can browse. You can then upload your apk file. Once upload is completed the installed appears on the NP screen / TV. I installed Kodi, Netflix, Speedtest and many other apps this way over the last few days.

I just bought the NP so I can use Kodi & Netflix. The rest is optional. I like some of the stuff that shows on the home screen sometimes that is recommended by Youtube. The only thing I dont like about the BP is that there is no power off. In other words Google wants 24/7 access to the thing.

Ill be using root with Proxy Droid and TWC TV so I can stream TWC from a family members house. Also, stickmount should work now so external USB drives can be manually mounted to increase storage space. I imagine for the most part that root will offer many the same benefits as it did for fire tv users plus its good just to future proof yourself I guess because the exploit wont last forever.

Also, for those saying KingRoot isnt working make sure your device is connected with Wifi ONLY, do NOT change the file name from its original and install via a file explorer and not directly from within team viewer.

Well, the ADT-1 or the Nexus Player. The reason being, I wanted to see if either Netflix Casting or the netflix app work.
Something was mentioned here: https://plus.google.com/+IsraelOliverJr414515/posts/JJRT7GXZvvp
But it was for the ADT I believe. Not 100% sure.

Clock always wrong time, can't be set

It's stuck on Greenwich Mean Time zone, which is 8 hours ahead of my time. I can't manually set it due to some "parental controls" garbage. The tablet is rooted and modified, most of the bloat is removed, so I think that might have something to do with it.
