The Microsoft Store has the Trophy for $0.01 right now. I'm strongly considering. The only reservation I have is that the fine print on the bottom of the page states that I can not use an upgrade on one line and switch the phone to another. They say I could be charged full retail if I do that.
Has anyone ever had this happen to them?
Has anyone upgraded through the Microsoft Store?
Dan
i haven't because my plan wasn't on that list and i would have had to get a plan that was $20 more a month than what my current plan is
Amazon wireless also has this for 1 cents plus $20 gift card. Although I liked MS has one-day shipping while amazon is giving free two-day shipping.
I just got my new Trophy from Amazon Wireless. DON'T DO IT! All the horror stories on shipping with Prestige 2-day are true! They totally botched my delivery and I didn't get it until the 3rd day Some have had it much worse.
One thread on Amazon about this issue. Other threads linked inside.
And you don't even get a choice with how to ship it! If I had a choice, I would have gone Fedex or UPS. It was seriously crap.
You also get 4000 Microsoft points free...too bad you can't use them towards Apps, they can be only used on Zune (music) and Xbox 360
I got mine through Amazon Wireless for a penny. Same deal, if you deactivate the line before 6 months, they charge $200. It was shipped via UPS and got here by the 2nd business day. As for the agreement, I emailed Amazon Wireless to ask if I could add a line or change my text messaging plan. The person said I could add or remove services whenever I want, but I have to keep the line active for 180 days to avoid being charged.
Also, I received a $25 gift card code the day after I activated it, and the promotion Verizon and Microsoft are doing to offer a free Xbox 360 game is applicable.
So, dunno if this'll help anyone out.. but I just ordered a Moto X. I didn't feel like waiting up to 12 days for a Moto Maker one, so I ordered directly from the Verizon site. I had to talk to somebody from the Live Chat because I was having an issue... they gave me a $50 off coupon, and since the phone was on sale for $50, this made it free. Just thought I'd let you guys know. I tried to search to see if this was common knowledge but didn't find anything.
I was just offered a month early upgrade through a VZW store or the online store. It said it would be $50 plus the $30 upgrade but it ended up being just the upgrade and tax.
Anyone have success trading in an old Moto device after buying a Verizon Moto X for the $100 gift card? The Verizon method is different than the rest of carriers as you have to trade the device in store rather than mail it to Moto. I'm planning on buying a Moto X through Moto Maker with the $100 discount and have got conflicting answers from Verizon if it will qualify. One store said you have to buy the phone direct from Verizon. Another one said it should work - I just need to bring in the box and they will scan the UPC and confirm the promo.
I'm in this boat too... I have an old X2 and want the $100 trade-up discount toward a Moto X DevEd. I went round and round with Motorola support (several different online chat sessions and a couple of emails) about this between this past Saturday and yesterday trying to get an answer before the sale but couldn't get a straight answer from them. As far as I'm concerned there is absolutely NO reason for Verizon to be involved. This is strictly a transaction between us and Motorola. I think they're just trying to force us to do it at a Verizon store so they can be sure to collect their BS activation fee. I scored a discount code and ordered my new Moto X yesterday and I plan to use the "all other carriers" option and send them my X2. One of the email responses I got from them completely ignored my questions about Verizon and instructed me to do just that. I bet that was their way of saying it was OK to sidestep Verizon's BS without saying it explicitly. I figure worst case, they send my X2 back and I have to take it to Verizon after all along with the proof-of-purchase (UPC code/box) from my new Moto X and get the discount that way (and probably have to pay the activation fee).

Stopped into the actual store today (the one that said this wouldn't work) and got a different story. He said you need to bring in the new Moto X, they'll check the IMEI and verify that it is a new phone and first activated on your account, and then take your trade in device for $100.
I've read people were having issues trading in non Verizon devices to Verizon - apparently their list is different than the one on the site - but I've got a Droid 3 so everything should be good to go.
I bought an off-contract verizon dev unit and am just mail in a moto admiral using the "all other carriers" method and bypassing Verizon entirely. I read somewhere this works with the off-contract VZW motos.

Hopefully it will work.
The thing is.. it's got NOTHING to do with Verizon! You're trading in a device TO MOTOROLA for a rebate when you buy a new device FROM MOTOROLA. It's strictly a transaction between you and Motorola (or SHOULD be)! That's the way it works when you choose "all other carriers"... why shouldn't it work that way for Verizon??? It shouldn't make any difference. The way I see it, this was Motorola's way of making it up to people like me who got stuck with the POS buggy Droid X2 - as well as the other models included in the program that were left behind too soon and not updated to Ice Creme Sandwich. What if I'd bought my X2 when I was on Verizon and had since switched to AT&T? I should still be able to trade in my old device to Motorola and get the rebate if I buy a new one.
Again... I think the whole thing is just a ploy to get you into the store so they can be sure to charge you the activation fee - and possibly push you into a new plan.

I bought an off-contract verizon moto x(not dev unit)and today I went to a verizon store and they said you have to purchase the phone from them and sign a 2-year agreement in order to get the $100.Where did you see that the method you mentioned works?

Yep... I'm planning to do the same thing. I AM off-contract (have been since last March) so that may simplify things.

Finally got a chance to do this since I had to exchange my first device.
Big surprise, Verizon changed their story and told me this only works if you're upgrading and signing a contract. Unfortunately the verbiage on the Moto trade up site ("Visit the nearest Verizon Wireless store to make the trade. Trade in your eligible used phone, purchase your eligible new phone, and you'll receive a $100 Verizon Wireless gift card") gives way to this, so I'm not sure what else you could argue. Typical of Verizon to weasel their way into someone else's promotion and want a piece of it. I will try the other store in my area but don't have much confidence it will work.

Did you end up doing this? Bit of a gamble I suppose they'd send your phone back if it didn't work.

I did last week, but it will take 6-8 weeks to hear back. And they will not return the device if there is a problem. So I'm risking $20 here.

I did this too... bought a Verizon Moto X DevEd online and sent my Droid X2 in using the "all other carriers" option. Waiting to hear back from them. I didn't see anything about them not sending your device back if there's a problem... but I will raise holy hell with them if they try to balk on this rebate. This has NOTHING to do with Verizon.

Received this email today. I am on verizon and went through the website after buying my x off contract (not the verizon store):
We've received your submission and have verified it meets all of our terms and conditions. Please allow us 6-8 weeks to process your device and mail you the $100 Motorola Visa prepaid card.

Thanks for posting this, I'm with Verizon too and I used your same method getting a Developer edition and sending my Admiral.
I was concerned because I haven't received an update, I sent it on June 7th and the tracking number shows they received it on the 12th.
So they actually took 2 months to process your Admiral?
How long after their confirmation did you received the actual gift card?
Thanks!
See pic for details...

I just got the card about a month ago. They claimed to have sent it 3 times prior to that (I emailed them repeatedly) but it never arrived until the 4th attempt.
The odds of the post office losing 3 pieces of mail in a row is essentially 0. In other words, they aren't sending some (or all) of the cards at all until you complain.

I just picked up my AT&T G5 this afternoon, only issue I had was them not having the free promo items in stock. "Extra battery, cradle, cable" Mine is arriving in store Thursday the 7th; I did receive my free $100 gift card though. Not an unpleasant experience surprisingly.
Picked up my Titan Sprint G5 from Best Buy this morning, the cradle kit originally back ordered has shipped today.
Verizon model titan color picked up from best buy today as well. None of the promo cradle kits were shipped to them. Apparently it's going to be shipped to my house on the 4th-5th.
Same as few above, Vz Titan, picked up no issues. Promo cradle/battery and USB Micro/C converter shipping next week.
maybe its because you ordered that it arrived to you directly and they are waiting for the "preorder" bonus, maybe try changing the order to pick up at store. i too got my g5 today for att and the bonus didnt arrived yet but they will call me when it arrives i also aplied to the lg page bonus so that i could have 2 spare batteries.

which is the LG Item Code for the Cradle ?
I preordered my G5 in store at best buy and the cradle/batt didn't show up, their system wasn't even loaded for it other than it being an online item or something. They basically had to special order it in for me , then the manager had to override it to get it to me for free. Either way, no big deal, I can manage until next week without my Free extras. I'd imagine I'll only need the secondary batt on rare occasions.
they delayed mine so i went into the store and they said they had 3 on the shelf. Im like why did my instore pickup get delayed then. Oh well canceled preorder and reordered. Special ordered accessory bundle and off i went.
I didn't get a notice but I went to the store on Apr 1 and they had my phone, but no accessory bundle. I bet that's wht they're all delayed. I was able to pick mine up anyway and had the accessory bundle set up to ship to my house when available.
i went into a best buy on sat and they had 1 g5. not one person knew anything about the phone. all the staff kept saying how ugly and stupid the phone was and only bashed it. Funny they had nothing but bad things to say and not a single person had even used the phone... I have been doing much research and the intranet has much of the same. Nothing but negativity or pre-release reviews that don't give this phone any justice.
apparently no one ordered the bundle, so mine is coming in the mail as well...

Can anyone confirm a $100 BB gift card when buying for Sprint? I'll be getting the Sprint one on installment plans and have seen conflicting info on whether the $100 gift card works for Sprint.

I don't see Best Buy gift card as an option:
-$100 payment with 2 year contract.
-$24/month installment payment assuming good credit.

i think the $100 gift card is for at&t- the phone is $199 and you get a $100 gift card in the mail in a few weeks. Sprint phone is $99 at the register so no gift card.
I have at&t and purchased from best buy , it's a $100 best buy gift card that I got right away. Still havent found anything useful to buy as of yet from there.

It's here. I showed this to the rep and he agreed Sprint also receives $100 gift card. I was unable to upgrade for unrelated reasons, however, so I can't confirm that he would have eventually actually given me the gift card. But he was convinced.
However, I'm doing the $150 *cash* bonus on trading in old smartphone via Sprint directly instead. For some reason they're also taking off $15/month for switching to the installments, so once I trade in the old phone it'll be like they paid me $44 over the next two years to have upgraded.
Has anyone been able to add the Verizon Travelpass to their Pure? I was told I can only add the normal monthly international plan, not the daily Travelpass plan.
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
I couldn't, not on-line and neither could customer service or tech support. MXPE is not a "verizon" phone, so they can't work out a way to add that feature, apparently.
AFAIK TravelPass is just a rate plan, so why would it matter what phone you use?
I had this question before, and I just used two weeks ago while in Canada. Here's what you do:
1. You need a Verizon-sold phone (I had an old Droid Maxx phone)
2. put your Moto X SIM card into that phone
3. then go to MyVerizon app or website
4. Add TravelPass feature (international option)
5. Put the SIM card back into Moto X
You will not get a confirmation text while traveling. But, you will get a text near 24 hours saying that Travelpass will be renewed for the following day. Remember to have data roaming on since you will be using another carrier's service.
Agree that the above process works and is what I plan on doing for my next international adventure (I've got the 2013 Moto X Verizon Dev edition for that).
Thanks for the replies, do you know if Travelpass works with the old unlimited data plans?

I've done this prior to going to Mexico on Wednesday using my wifes Verizon Moto X 2Gen. I'm going to try it everything looks good on the mobile app, it shows that my phone number has travel pass added to it. on the website it has “ECom Service SKU” as the name of my phone but it doesn't show that I have it added on the website, only on the phone “my Verizon app”. I switched the SIM to my son's Nexus 6 which is a Verizon accepted phone and without doing anything it showed that it already had it added I took my sim back out of the Nexus 6 put it back in my Moto X and again it showed that I didn't have the daily option to add it. but I always go to my Verizon app on the phone and it shows my phone number has the travel pass added to it. Both my wife's second edition Moto X and my pure Edition have the travel past added to them (My Pure Ed only shows in the MyVerizon Mobile App)and they are both going with us and both have the travel pass active I will see what happens.
Thanks, please let us know!
Thanks jdfrye, does your account with your Pure Edition have a tiered plan or unlimited data plan?

I used to have UDP but let it go after I owned my own devices.
Now I have the "Verizon plan" 18GB=$100 X 4 Lines $80 =$180
Was in Mexico yesterday on a cruise. My Moto x Pure had the Travel pass added via using my wife moto x 2gen with a sim swap. With my wife's phone also with the Travel pass added we both received a text when we arrived in Mexico saying the the Travel pass was a option. We both had connection to data and voice. She was connected to the telcel, I was to movistar. I couldn't change to telcel manually but later in the day it switched by itself. Used voice and data all day long. The next morning woke up in long beach,CA. We both received a text stating "TravelPass 24 hour session is almost up. Another daily session will be triggered by Int'l Talk, Text or Data".
I think everything worked out but we'll see with my billing. I will post my billing result when I get it.
If they try to screw me I have screen shots of the Travel pass added to my line in the mobile app with my device xt1575 next to the description.
Thanks, since I have unlimited data, Travelpass was not available to me, even using my old LG G2, I had to add the $25 international travel plan to my account. Used it for 4 days and removed it, they refunded me $12 based on what I didn't use.
