4.3 BTU STOCK just installed... OK - Galaxy S III General

Just for info... I wanted to flash 4.3 BTU over my 4.1.2 ITV MG4, but i was afraid by the large number of problems this BTU rom seems to cause.
Well... I've just flashed it with Odin... NO PROBLEM AT ALL.
Screen lag not present, free memory about 662MB... , graphics seems to be more slow but is going better using it .
App seems to run well.
Only one note... regarding old notifications that appear on the top bar, after falshing. Download notification.
Problem resolved by Manage application -> All -> Download manager -> Clear cache, Clear data, Stop process -> Reboot tel.
Everything seems to be OK now.... I think I've been lucky

I rooted my phone with the update.zip method from here: http://forum.samdroid.net/f49/superuser-su-busybox-i9000-26-06-2010-a-1355/
And I didn't had to wipe the cache. Which method did you use?
the same but you will get it in the Future
How to solve it without wiping:
just go to manage applications in Settings and clear cache or data of "Download Manager" and it works perfectly fine after that. I had that problem and it annoyed me so much until I found that fix.
ive had this issue after updating to the latest official firmware, i did see the option before i restart my phone to clear partition cache... i wonder if this fix my download issues too...

yeah i tried that before and it didnt work... i just reflashed to F7 rom then at the option i chose clear partition cache and also clear all user data etc,
basically the phone booted as it came out of the box...
Market downloads work now...
none of the methods works for me.. :/
I flashed my galaxy s with the fjb for PDA and fj5 Phone I didnt flash the CSC. Everything works great except that the phone refuses to download apps from the market..
first i tryed deleting cash from the download manager, and afterwards i tried rebooting the phone in recovery mode as OP explained.. both methods have been carried out correctly, but none of them worked.. Would the next step be to whipe all data from the phone with option nr 2 in recovery mode ? Or is this simply because i didnt flash csc ?
If someone could please explain what PDA Phone and CSC is it would be nice too.. I'm quite new to android but quite experienced flasher of chips for xbox's, ps's and wii's, so please do get technical

I did not flash firmware. I have original JF4 Firmware. I cannot download any apps after 5 to 10 downloads. 1.7 GB free local phone storage. Only solution is factory data reset. Please help!
what exact error are you getting if the market never connects just says retry.. i got that same error after updating and the only think i could do was a factory reset and that fixed it.
2nd if you are not seeing paid and secure apps.. this is a different issue with the build.prop file in the newer f/w versions not being recognized by the marketplace so it knows you are rooted/hacked and doesnt show them so you cannot get at them and distribute them.. i posted a fix for this and fw/ jf7 search on my name to find it.
hmm i'm in Denmark where we sadly can't even see the paid apps yet.. fuked up.. But i can see all the free apps, but when i try to download it says the app will be downloaded.. And then instead of starting it comes up with the error saying it was unsuccessful..
am i really the only one with this problem.. ???
madfarmer, you may have an IMEI issue, try this:
Go to the phone app and dial *#06# and note the IMEI it reads out here.
Then check the IMEI under the battery, do they match? If they don't this is your issue.
they match.. so i guess it isn't that :/
I have the same problem as madfarmer, and I didn't flash the csc file too. Could reflashing the JFB rom with all the files, so including the csc file help?
Edit: Reflashing the rom with the csc file has helped so far...
Just flashed the phone again with all 3 including CSC and now everything seems to work.. The marketdownloads the apps just fine.. a little ****ed up thing is that there is now a bookstore app with only russian books in it but other than that everything seems perfect..
Looks like you have to flash the csc as well, cos I flashed the 3 files together. As to the russian thing, use adb to remove those apps. Delete the stored web pages, they are all russians too.

so.. Do i need to root the phone to be able to remove the apps.. and do you by any means know what the apk file is called ?
1.click Google Talk
2.Login Google Talk

4.open market
that will be start download

Problem with receiving phone calls since updating to XXJPU

Since I updated my phone to firmware JPU, people try to ring me and it doesn't show up on my phone, my phone vibrates for like a second but I don't see any notification showing any call coming through, anyone know what the problem could be and how to solve it?
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S I9000
Samr happened to me. The vibrate that occurs is a force close. I wadnt able to find any other soloution for this bu to flash a different firmware.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I hoping someone else has problem, and has a solution, I like this firmware and don't really wanna flash again and have to restore all my apps.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S I9000
Has no one else had this problem since upgrading?
I have JPU (but in the form of darky's rom v5.2) and the phone rings fine, so I'm not sure if the problem lies in the jpu rom (but maybe it was a bug that darky fixed in the rom, not sure). Unfortunately, I don't know how one would solve this without flashing, but if you are gonna flash, then I really recommend darky's rom, it's one of the best out there atm.
I flashed the low level package with ODIN and phone calls have been fine. Actually asked someone to call me to make sure lol, been a quiet weekend....

I can only guess you have a bad app or you have old settings left from other firmware.
Its nothing wrong with jpu firmware.
**Using my own JPU kernel, z4mod, 339MB Ram and ext2 filesystem**
I hope you are not using setcpu .. i had this kind of problem when using secpu ..
Well I've re-flashed now, and didn't restore system data and everything is great now.
P.S. anyone know how to stop 2 notifications every time I get a message, one comes through Handscent and one through the the standard messaging app.

That sounds like it's something that you have to change with your provider. I am with 3 aus and switched off the option to be sms reminded every missed call and it's unnecessary especially seeing as though the phone has that functionality and if you have voice mail you should be sweet to go. Good luck!

You need to go to the stock samsung Messaging app, then press Menu button to go into Settings, and scroll all the way down to 'Notification Settings' and untick the Notifications option. Now you should only receive it through Handcent only.
My friend had the same problem.
Here is the solution:
1, flash XXJPU
2, do a factory reset and wipe data + cache from recovery menu
3, do not restore system apps from titanium backup, just the 3rd party softwares.
That's all, the phone app will work.
The problem is, the old phone app leaves some cache and other crap and the new phone app doesn't works. That's way the solution is factory reset and wipe data + cache.
I hope it helps you. You do not need to flash again the phone, etc. Just do what I wrote.
Not a FW problem
Hi, this happend to me with XFJP7 FW. It started after I did several things:
1) did fix permissions in CWM
2) tried stock lockscreen (didn't work the several times, but finally worked)
3) restore with TitaniumBackup
I had backup of /system/framework directory, but restoring it didn't help. I ended up with flashing again with selective restore. Didn't try stock lockscreen nor fix permissions yet.
HTH
Mody
Probably same source here which also causes the "No-Vibration-Issue".
In most cases this is being caused by using a Lockscreen-/ Extended Power Menu-/ Circle-Battery-Mod that wasn't originally build and modified especially for your firmware. There's only a limited amount of ressources available for the system.
In some cases they first -seem- to work fine.
But in the backgound they (mostly) disable or block other functions because your new firmware wants to use the same registers or adresses (which the "wrong Mod" uses) for other os-functions.
In the end, I just re-flashed and only restored apps instead of system data + apps and now its working fine. Bingo!
When I receive a call, first the lockscreen shows up on my screen (instantly) for like a second and then it changes and I can answer the call. I have stock android lockscreen and 2.2.1. Do you think I have the same problem as others here or is this a different one?

Gallery not working

Hi guys,
I had this same "Unfortunately, Gallery has stopped" problem when I first got my phone early this year and after a modified the buildprop it worked (a long with pushing some lib files replacing the Gallery.apk)
Since I updated to 4.2.2 yesterday, this problem returned. I tried doing the same steps I took above to get it to work with no avail. I would like to get the build.prop for 4.2.2 to see if it matches what I have (as last time I had a couple of lines missing and once added, the camera worked).
Cheers!
EDIT: I am attaching the bug report
I tried, pushing lib files, clearing cache and dalvik and nothing seems to work.... Every time I reboot the phone I get the "unfortunately, gallery has stopped working" message.
I cannot open camera or gallery without that message popping up.
Some details would help to sort out the problem.
Are you using custom ROM or stock?
If custom, did you upgrade or baseband and bootloader before upgrading to 4.2.2?
Are you using official gapps or custom?
Also have u tried going to settings > apps > all > gallery > clear data, clear cache.

My bad, I was so frustrated I completely forgot to include this info.
I am stock and rooted. I have already tried clearing the data, cache and dalvik with no avail. I did a factory reset given that after updating it was only giving me 8gb instead of 16. When I booted I started getting the error message. I've included my error report a couple of posts up.
In order to install the 4.2.2 OTA I followed efran's guide. Prior to that, I have attached image of what I had.
I've tried installing the 4.2Camera_t04.zip file to see if it solved the issue but no luck.
I hope someone can help me with this issue, being cameraless is so not fun lol
I have attached an image of the files that seem to appear at the end of my system folder , is that normal?

Terrible Batt life after factory reset

Hi
When I first got my S5 I updated OTA to 4.4.2. Hated the restrictions but batt life was good at that point.
So after playing with the phone and installing apps batt life became bad so I reset the phone.
My Batt was still draining more quickly even after a factory reset even though restore option was unticked and no new apps after the reset I ran titanium backup and froze most of the user apps but batt drain was still bad.
In settings>battery it shows Android System as the highest percentage.
When i reset the device to factory settings when it loads up i see SuperSU and GSAM battermonitor root companion installed along with the other essential bloatware apps from Samsung . It also auto updates Chrome as well as Samsung apps like Chaton , wallet even though I turned off Autoupdate apps in the play store ?
How do I stop those Stock Apps (eg ChatOn ) from Updating ? - Chrome is not stock iirc but it also gets updated.
Im guessing my batt drain after a reset is being affected because of updates to system/bloatware apps. Whilst playing around somehow maybe have unknowingly integrated those system updates into the system rom ?
So if I accepted that OTA (guessing 4.4.4) update will all system software be fully reset to stock (whilst still retaining root via SuperSU Survival mode ) so that I can get the similar batt life/drain like when I first got the phone ?
Or what other options do i have so I can reset all the factory software to stock (no updates) ?
I have purchased and installed SuperSU and enabled survival mode.I also installed buzybox.
My second question : How do I stop Chat on ,Samsung Wallet etc from auto updating after a fresh reset ?

The update will most likely be downloaded but not installed because you are rooted. You can however flash the entire 4.4.4 rom with Mobile Odin Pro and keep root IF your device is suported. Better check that first.
Hi thx for the reply.
I just dled mobile odin and it said device not supported ? SM-G900i
What are my other options ?
Going to the Sammobile site for the rom it shows the latest 4.4.2 G900IDVU1ANG3 firmware for my device SM-G900i is Android 4.4.2 not the 4.4.4 i guessed
IIs it safe If i flash from my current firmware G900IDVU1ANE1 June to an earlier dated firmware like the G900IDVU1ANC6 April ] [/I]
EDIT/B]
Sp Ive been doing abit of searching and i found Rashr as well Phils Touch Recovery that work on the Galaxy S5. Phils recovery is installed and I can boot into it . The options look similar to CWM Recovery
Im not sure which steps i should take for a fresh firmware install. And I dont want to just choose the wrong option and brick my phone
Should I choose Wipe Data/Factory Reset and then install Zip ?

Issues after installing the CM 12S update

Hi Guys.
I installed the CM12 on my Yureka following the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/yureka/general/discussion-yu-yureka-cm-12s-lollipop-t3084461
I downloaded the update from the first signed OTA link and followed the instruction to install. Did a factory reset and then wipe cache partition and Every thing went good and I could boot into CM12S.
Now my issues started. I could not install anything from the Play store as when I click on icon for play store, it says App not installed. I installed the rom again from the recovery. Still the same. Another issue that I get is for storage space. I get an error message in CM12 which tells me that I am running out of space and I need to ensure that I have atleast 250 MB of free space available. But when I check my storage in settings, I have more than 12 GB free. I am attaching screenshots for the errors that I am getting, kindly help someone.
By the way I tried installing the latest play store apk but get an error application not installed.
I too have issues with the lollipop update a super annoying one, not beinng able to pick up calls and notbe ing able to end one too. I posted the details here in another thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60169653&postcount=22).
If anybody has a method to roll back or have a AOSP/CM based 64bit ROM, I would love to hear that.
device became slow. hell slow
I updated my uyreka with latest ota update manually. But after installation with proper steps everything is working fine but device is now responding slow. Being more precise..hell slow.
I can install apps can play games but normal operation likenavigation opening apps lags a lot.
Frankly speaking i did not like this update. Wants to roll back.
Mobile became very Slow
After updating lolipop my mobile became very slow and the mobile charging time was increased ( Takes morethan 7 hours for full charging). Applications installed were slowly and wifi problem also. Battery drains very quickly.
For manual updates:
-like we used to do for custom ROMs, need to wipe cache.
-since this is an upgrade from 32 bit to customized 64 bit apk swappings, I think its better to do a factory reset
Troubleshooting
I have resolved some of the issues. You may head over to my thread for them.

did you try clearing out the cache ? cleared the data ?? from the launcher , restart.
then also try wiping cache from the CM recovery . That usually resets everything back to original state that might help.
if not reset the entire phone. If nothing works at all , then flash the ROM again.
---------- Post added at 08:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:42 AM ----------
same answer , clear out all the cache , thats a main reason for most of the problems mentioned here .
clear out the cache , data , and try reseting the phone ..
if nothing works flash the ROM again, immediately after flashing wipe all the caches from the Recovery itself.
This usually 90% of the time works .
Bugs after installation of the new ota update
1>>>>the phone initially starts to lag a lot and even every app tries to behave diferently
2>>>the set gets a lot of heated
3>>>the dialer starts to be uninteractive to toches
4>>>there is a lot of battery drain during the network data usage as well as on wifi
5>>>after factory reseting through the cm recovery the issue was solved for some time and the ui became much responsive but after spendi g some time it tried to retain some of it's previous bugs..

1. somtimes it happens after fresh install.. it should not come back after the initial use.. do you still have the same issue ???
2. thats kind of a common complaint...hopefully they are fixing it..i see that in YU forums also..
3. Yes I also have some ghost touches esp in the dialer... but it has reduced for me ..now it comes once in a day or none at all...
4.Battery drain may be multiple apps running on the background , all taking the background data , I am using data as well as wifi with calls too..
i dont face that much of drain issue ..
Use Advanced task manager , if you are not using G+ , clean manager , and other useless background running apps (even chrome) put in regular kill and increase the frequency. This hopefully will help
5. can you tell me which bugs have come back .. ??
