Hi guys,
I had this same "Unfortunately, Gallery has stopped" problem when I first got my phone early this year and after a modified the buildprop it worked (a long with pushing some lib files replacing the Gallery.apk)
Since I updated to 4.2.2 yesterday, this problem returned. I tried doing the same steps I took above to get it to work with no avail. I would like to get the build.prop for 4.2.2 to see if it matches what I have (as last time I had a couple of lines missing and once added, the camera worked).
Cheers!
EDIT: I am attaching the bug report
I tried, pushing lib files, clearing cache and dalvik and nothing seems to work.... Every time I reboot the phone I get the "unfortunately, gallery has stopped working" message.
I cannot open camera or gallery without that message popping up.
Some details would help to sort out the problem.
Are you using custom ROM or stock?
If custom, did you upgrade or baseband and bootloader before upgrading to 4.2.2?
Are you using official gapps or custom?
Also have u tried going to settings > apps > all > gallery > clear data, clear cache.

My bad, I was so frustrated I completely forgot to include this info.
I am stock and rooted. I have already tried clearing the data, cache and dalvik with no avail. I did a factory reset given that after updating it was only giving me 8gb instead of 16. When I booted I started getting the error message. I've included my error report a couple of posts up.
In order to install the 4.2.2 OTA I followed efran's guide. Prior to that, I have attached image of what I had.
I've tried installing the 4.2Camera_t04.zip file to see if it solved the issue but no luck.
I hope someone can help me with this issue, being cameraless is so not fun lol
I have attached an image of the files that seem to appear at the end of my system folder , is that normal?

I have the same issue, gallery and camera sometimes stops working, after a reboot it will work again.
I will also try this patch and see if it works.

I've searched for a fix for this error but all it brings up are like 100 page threads and I can't get to the exact page. Does anybody know how I can stop getting this to pop up? I've tried switching roms but the next one does it as well. Any tips?
Nobody knows a fix for this one?
For me, turning off Sync Browser in sync settings for my Google account fixed this problem. I am using a HP Touch pad though, but should be the same on any android device.

Same thing is happening on my touchpad when I click sync browser that comes up. Turning it off is fine with me thanks for the tip.
This happened to me occasionally when I was running a custom rom but since I updated to the next version of the rom and flashed gapps, it hasn't come back. There did not appear to be a reason or rhyme. I tried to reinstall chrome and gmail but not sure of the results. May want to try that.

process com.google.process.gapps has stopped working
I have the same problem. The only difference that I know exactly when happened and what is the reason.
I upgraded to JellyBean, but just before that I force stopped some running apps thinking of a "clear" upgrade (WRONG).
Then after the upgrade (I was rooted before it) I opened Titanium Backup and noticed that some applications were showing as uninstalled ???
I did not uninstall them - but somehow they ended up uninstalled after the upgrade.
I suppose this happened because I stopped those few processes just before upgrading.
Now the applications showed as uninstalled are: "DRM Storage Protected..." Media Storage" , "Gallery" and some more
All those missing now ... I cannot start Google Store at all !? It opens for a second and closes itself. Tried to restore those with Titanium Backup but it does not restore them ... just runs endlessly.
PLEASE HELP !
I would try to flash the factory rom, unless you are using custom, flash the custom with gapps.

Here's the most simple fix. Remove your Google account and add it again.

It's been driving me nuts.
As soon as my Nexus 7 boots I get the message.
I removed my Google account and re-entered my details.
The message popped up again as soon as the account was added.
I'm on the stock 4.2.1 rooted ROM.
Factory reset next without restoring a backup.
Speaking of backup. When I used the ADB restore command.
I had the message that my device will restart. It did. I then had the Restore screen on my Nexus 7.
I hit Restore my data button or whatever it's called, and my tablet reset immediately. And no data was restored to my Nexus.
It's seems that is broken too.
I cleared Data and Cache of Browser (my stock Browser) and error disappeared, problem fixed...
I'm having this issue as well. Started happening after I flashed Paranoid Android 2.99 Beta 6 and the current gApps zip.

Did you tried this? (Comment before yours)
Finally cured it on my stock rooted Nexus 7.
Factory wipe and didn't restore any system apps.
So far so good.
I tried every other trick in the book.
So in the end, a wipe was the only option.

I just solved this on my Nexus. It was one of the google apps having a sync issue. I solved it by turning each one off till the error stopped then uninstalling it and reloading it.
TWRP 2.3.3 installed via Goomanager.
With rooted stock ROM 4.2.1 I used GooManager to download latest Paranoid Android 2.99 Beta 9 and GAPPS-JB-20121011.zip.
Factory reset and wipe of Cache & Dalvik then flashed PA from Goomanager
Nexus booted into PA
Opened Goo manager and flashed the GAPPS I'd already downloaded.
Nexus boots into unlock screen but then says "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" and when that is cleared I get "Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped" over and over again.
I don't get an opportunity to do anything other that re-boot into recovery.
I've re-flashed GAPPS by itself over the top, as well as PA and have tried, from within TWRP, to flash both one after the other. I always get the same errors.
Any advice please?
[Edit #1]
Used Wug's NRT 1.6.1 to flash back to stock, unlock and rooted again.
Installed Goo Manager again and downloaded GAPPS and PA 2.99 and going to see what happens.
and.....
Exactly the same problem!
[Edit #2]
Solved.
There was a later version of GAPPS that Goo didn't have listed.
I recently did the root from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291827
and the hot spot mod from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256950
I've reverted the hotspot mod and still the same result.
All my old apps work fine, nothing new that I download can be opened.
try clearing the data/cache on the apps then force close them and try to relaunch.....i had that issue with slim for a bit but it seems that whatever changes in build 6 were implimented fixed the issues.

stock rom.
Just tried a factory reset and now everything is crashing before I can even get into the setup process.
all services/apps that try to load crash.
I'm also unable to wipe cache from stock recovery, it says error.
is there a way to do it from odin? I'm waiting on stock firmware download, hoping that will make my phone useable again.
would installing TWRP and flashing an aftermarket rom potentially fix it? stock firmware is taking forever to download.
Stock firmware fixed the issue, scared to reroot the phone now tho....
if your having issues booting after a wipe try moving to to differant rom. if you like the TW UI there are still plenty of options for you in the way of custom roms. also if your going to be formatting your phone (i.e. wiping cache and dalvik and system components) i would recommend you load a custom recovery. you dont have to have one but it is advised.
I flashed the factory image of KitKat 4.4 on my Nexus 4 after wiping it clean (my phone was getting laggy so thought a fresh set up would be good). All is fine except for the camera which at times, just remains blank on launching - I see the camera type, shutter and the settings button but the screen is black and clicking any of the buttons doesn't do anything (see attached screenshot).
Only way to fix this is to reboot the phone. Anyone else facing this? Note that this does not happen all the time.
ALSO: This happens with both Dalvik & ART runtime.
Any suggestions appreciated!
Just to be safe first copy all ur pictures to a computer. Then go to settings > apps > gallery > clear data + cache. How did you flash stock image? I mean did you do it via toolkit or flashall.bat? Stay away from ART if possible. Its a very early build.

Thanks for your reply. I'll try clearing the cache and data of the gallery.
I flashed the stock image using flashall.bat with a full wipe of the phone (option -w).
I had another problem with Camera
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2532755
Well this is also a camera issue.
I followed Efrant's guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2010312) for flashing Android 4.4 stock image(I was previously on 4.3 rooted stock).
After the upgrade, when i tested the new stock camera app, I noticed that the Flash option is disabled(Flash symbol with strike-grayed out). I'm not able to change it to Flash or Auto-Flash mode. Then i downloaded another camera app(Focal cam), and there the Camera flash was working properly. So, I guess the problem is with Stock camera app(It seems to think that my N4 doesn't have an LED Flash).
Am I the only one facing this issue or are ppl out there with same issue ? I tried googling and searching here, but could not find this being mentioned before. Any work arounds (other than a 3rd party camera app) for this problem? If yes, then please let me know.
After flashing the 4.4.2 firmware to my Note 3, I get the following error message once the device turns on: "Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped". I can just click ok and the message goes away but it shouldn't be appearing in the first place so does anyone know how to make it go away? An the phone works fine.
Yes I did a clean install, tried clearing the data and cache from app manager and any of the obvious ideas.
Anybody else having this issue? Any help is greatly appreciated!

try doing a factory reset, if this does not work then try flashing a different 4.4.2 or re-downloading the one you flashed and trying again.

you have already downloaded and installed a different version of 4.4.2????
if you are getting the problem on multiple roms then you must be doing something wrong during the flashing process.

Hmm, Tried a reflash? -- if no good, reflash with a full wipe that usually solves 99% of issues. Only thing I can think of
I had that problem too and it almost made me to hit my note 3 into the wall. From the first day I turned him...
My fix solution was Settings>Application Manager> Menu > Reset app preference>Reboot. Do it again if its going to be the sam outcome. I found tjat when you are force stopping aps, or closing you are going to end with those messages....

my friend
don't try to reset , wipe any thing .
i have same problem and posted before : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620340
i asked from all kings of developing , but no one could help me .
i searched on google and found out that problem maybe cause of our sim-card . maybe changing sim card your problem will be solved.
i'm almost confident that is cause of baseband " NA6" and we should wait for 4.4.2 for our region with different baseband .
be aware , this problem is with u even when try any custom rom , cause all af the are using NA5 and NA6 .
just crossing your finger and wait for new and diffrent baseban version my friend .

Sent from my Note 3...making all others drool!
I had the same type of problem myself,
But on my HTC one. I was close to start the painful process of unrooting my device and go back to stock.
My problem was not having ANY network & using the phone or sms didn't work at all. I read many "solutions" on the internet but none helped.
I experimented myself and found a solution to my problem. If it can help others as well I am glad.
First go into settings, then apps.
Scroll to all applications, search for phone.apk - if you have an option to uninstall phone.apk to previous version/state do this. Reboot the phone. In my case this did the trick and everything is working properly. Hope it helps others as well.
Please respond if you tried and it worked. It may be helpful for others too.

I have a LG L70 that I rooted. I didn't install any ROM's on it. But what I did do was change the run time from Davik to ART. When the phone turned back on I received the warning Unfortunately the phone stopped working. And when I tried to factory reset the LG L70, that's when I get the error message Unfortunately com.android.phone has stopped working. Then I reset the phone back to Davik with no success. Is there a solution to fix this problem without using a PC? I can't even download anything because I can't sign in to my Google account. And trying to download direct the phone will not open any files, even the files I've saved on my SD Card. Please help. I'm going crazy trying to figure this out. Going to settings>apps>all apps etc. doesn't work.

Try wiping cache, dalvik cache, system data and then factory reset (all this from recovery). I don't own a LG phone but this process is the same for almost all phones I think.

How did you wipe the cache/dalvik in this situation. I can't even reinstall anything to re-root the phone. And there is no keyboard that I can type on. The only way that I can communicate with the phone is to speak through voice mode. And that isn't always a good experience.
So far I've yet to get this new version to work with the fancy new backup and organization features that just came out. When I first installed it would just crash immediately when trying to boot. What I've now tried is Force Stopping and clearing cache and data. This gets me into the "intro" screen, but as soon as I hit 'get started' It just crashes. Any ideas what's going on? I just updated to 5.1.1, had issue on 5.1.0 a well. I am rooted.
:highfive:
Tried force stop and clearing data and cache for both the camera and photo's app. Then tried rebooting and opening camera (worked fine) then photo's (crashed as usual). Tried doing it again but opening photo's first, still crashed on the screen where it looks like you turn backup on or off. I think there is a backup issue. I had auto backup off for photo's previously by the way.
