Hi
When I first got my S5 I updated OTA to 4.4.2. Hated the restrictions but batt life was good at that point.
So after playing with the phone and installing apps batt life became bad so I reset the phone.
My Batt was still draining more quickly even after a factory reset even though restore option was unticked and no new apps after the reset I ran titanium backup and froze most of the user apps but batt drain was still bad.
In settings>battery it shows Android System as the highest percentage.
When i reset the device to factory settings when it loads up i see SuperSU and GSAM battermonitor root companion installed along with the other essential bloatware apps from Samsung . It also auto updates Chrome as well as Samsung apps like Chaton , wallet even though I turned off Autoupdate apps in the play store ?
How do I stop those Stock Apps (eg ChatOn ) from Updating ? - Chrome is not stock iirc but it also gets updated.
Im guessing my batt drain after a reset is being affected because of updates to system/bloatware apps. Whilst playing around somehow maybe have unknowingly integrated those system updates into the system rom ?
So if I accepted that OTA (guessing 4.4.4) update will all system software be fully reset to stock (whilst still retaining root via SuperSU Survival mode ) so that I can get the similar batt life/drain like when I first got the phone ?
Or what other options do i have so I can reset all the factory software to stock (no updates) ?
I have purchased and installed SuperSU and enabled survival mode.I also installed buzybox.
My second question : How do I stop Chat on ,Samsung Wallet etc from auto updating after a fresh reset ?

The update will most likely be downloaded but not installed because you are rooted. You can however flash the entire 4.4.4 rom with Mobile Odin Pro and keep root IF your device is suported. Better check that first.
Hi thx for the reply.
I just dled mobile odin and it said device not supported ? SM-G900i
What are my other options ?
Going to the Sammobile site for the rom it shows the latest 4.4.2 G900IDVU1ANG3 firmware for my device SM-G900i is Android 4.4.2 not the 4.4.4 i guessed
IIs it safe If i flash from my current firmware G900IDVU1ANE1 June to an earlier dated firmware like the G900IDVU1ANC6 April ] [/I]
EDIT/B]
Sp Ive been doing abit of searching and i found Rashr as well Phils Touch Recovery that work on the Galaxy S5. Phils recovery is installed and I can boot into it . The options look similar to CWM Recovery
Im not sure which steps i should take for a fresh firmware install. And I dont want to just choose the wrong option and brick my phone
Should I choose Wipe Data/Factory Reset and then install Zip ?

Hello all,
the S4 is my 4th Android cellphone and I also have a few more other Android devices.
Since the last update, I have a few apps that crash to to the main screen with no error message once in a while.
I NEVER had this problem with any of my current or previous Android devices (except the S4 with latest patch, it was fine before the patch btw).
So before I wipe the phone I wanted to know if it was a common problem with the S4 and the latest update.
Thanks.
Note: The phone is stock + CF Root, thats it.
not a common issue no: was your update OTA? First thing I would do is go into recovery and wipe the cache and the davlik cache and re-boot. If the problem persists, you may want to wipe the data -- it sounds to me that the issue is some remnant data from an app that needs updating to the latest firmware -- I presume you've gone into play store and updated all your apps since the OTA update of the firmware?
Google few days ago released navigation via Maps for my country (Croatia).
Yesterday wanted to navigate but there is only Preview option, like they removed Croatia from the list.
Tryed to fix permissions, force close app, clear data, cache and even installed new ROM.
After all of that i gave up and tryed to navigate via Maps on my bothers Galaxy S3 but its same result(he is running full stock unrooted samsung firmware)
Again nothing,it just says preview.
Then i tryed my fathers Note 2,all same full stock non rooted samsung firmware.
Again same result,it just says Preview.
Can someone explain me whats happening?
Also when i try to update via OTA my OmniROM it starts downloading but after some random % it stops.
I uninstalled several apps via Titanium Backup and installed GoogleDialer Addon mod.
Hey guys , my friend has a nexus 4 and he got a notification to install android 5.0 and he did , the installation went on smoothly but now none of the google apps work including playstore even the check for updates option in settings is not working , all of them crash as soon as you open them , his phone has become a paperweight , He is on full stock , never rooted and i was wondering what is the best thing to do , to make his phone work as usual ,
1. Would a factory reset work?
if not .. do i root it?
2.If i wanted to root it - do i follow the same procedure as 4.4.4 kitkat root procedure?
Any thing else that could help us would be greatly appreciated
Thanks guys!

Yes, try a factory reset but that will wipe all your user data so backup anything important to a PC. If factory reset doesnt help, download and flash the factory image. Rooting will come after you have a working phone with lollipop installed. To root, flash a custom recovery (or boot into one) like twrp, then flash the latest supersu zip (2.35 I think).
I have the Verizon SGP561 running Android 4.4.2 rooted with PhilZ Touch & CWM & TWRP installed. I just received notice of an OS update. Has anyone else receive this and know what it is? I hesitate to take any updates and don't want to lose root.
OK--- Just found this to answer one of the questions --
OTA update 23.0.1.E.0.208 also includes "optimized touch sensitivity," better performance for users who encrypt their tablet, improved support for TalkBack (Google's accessibility service for the visually impaired), and minor UI tweaks to fonts, icons, and layouts. None of it is particularly crucial, and no , it doesn't include an update to Android: Verizon's version of the Tablet Z2 is running the same build of Android 4.4 that is was back in July. But it's hard to be too miffed about that, since the Wi-Fi version of the Tablet Z2 hasn't been upgraded to Lollipop, either.
Now the question is will I lose root if I apply it...
I would also like to know if we would lose root with this update.

i took the plunge and tried it...
i used the supersu and used survival mode and installed as a system app
I am STILL ROOTED
Thanks! Except I've tried 4 times to update and keep getting failed. Using stock recovery so not sure what's going on.

I didn't change my recovery, I only rooted it yesterday and then 20min later enabled su as system app and then survival mode and applied update. No issues here
So far running good, however when I go into settings and tick on airplane mode it actually doesn't goto airplane mode. The only way I can get air plane mode is by holding the power button and selecting air plane mode.
Not sure if this is a error with root or glitch with the new update.
We now have a reboot option tho (not like I have ever needed it on this awesome tab)
On mine the update fails. Says "There was a problem with the update..." As I said, I am on 4.4.2 using NUTs dual recovery and root. I install SuperSu as a system app .
It makes me disappointed I spent money on the sixaxis controller on play store to not figure out how it works for the Z2 tablet a month prior to this update.
Maybe I could use it on other non-Sony devices?
Since my system update thing doesn't work, is there another way of acquiring and applying this update?

You can use this software to download the ftf file and flash it manually using flashtool http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...perifirm-xperia-firmware-downloader-t2834142/ (will lose data and root)
Update: I've found a way to update the latest version without losing root and posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...et-verizon-t3054700/post59440416#post59440416
Any idea on a lollipop update compatible with the sgp561?
Hi,
I had some problems with my Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, then finally there was Marshmallow 6.0.1 released and since then it's really running smoother (because a lot of people had problems with APA2 Lollipop Version). Now its base band G903FXXU1BPD3 and I also recognized much better battery life (no more high "android system" battery use).
On Lollipop i rooted my device with cf-autoroot and installed team win recovery to backup the system.. got it to work after a while. KNOX is 0x1 but no problem and OTA update was not working but i'm glad i could update to MM with SmartSwith PC Software.
I'm also waiting for Chainfires g903F -6.0.1- root file then I try again.. need it mainly for Apps2SD app to link big data to my 128gb sandisk microsd. By the way, is it o.k. to first install TWRP again to backup the system data, and after that root and TWRP will stay?
Now the remaining problems:
- Device Lag on Lollipop (had to reboot every morning to clear RAM): hope its better with 6.0.1 now.
- Sound issues: 1-2 apps stutter when bluetooth headset or bluetooth sound box is connected; without bluetooth it's working fine. Already tried to clear data/cache for system sound apps like AdaptSound, SoundAlive and also BluetoothService etc. ... by the way my stock music app is lost, can i reinstall it after rooting again with a .apk file ?
- I have CM Locker installed and now, on MM, I don't know which app data/cache i have to clear to reset the standard lockscreen which always starts after reboot (swipe) shortly before CM locker shows up.
- Is it safe to clear data of Google App or will my connected accounts, apps etc. be removed ?
I don't want a factory reset because i've got too much apps to configure again, maybe clearing dalvik-cache on MM after rooting will solve some things...
Thanks for answers..
You can already root your phone you must flash the cf auto root for g-903m. It also works for 903f. Look at the g-903f marshmallow theard. And after you flash cf auto root you have to flash twrp again because cf auto root deletes twrp
