my wifes LG G2 arrives tomorrow. , does the G2 have the AWS band ready to work out of the box or does it need a update like my GS4 .???
becasue my speeds are beast with AWS. if she doesnt get those same speeds she will not be happy.

Don't think anyone else has it in their area. It is supposed to be tri-band though. What does google tell you?

No its not unlocked yet. hopefully verizon releases the update soon. i just did a test.
here are the results
i ran three test on each device i picked the highest score of the three.
the speed that G2 gets , thats what the GS4 use to get when AWS was locked.
Samsung GS4 with AWS activated
LG G2 Verizon with out AWS
Yup same situation here, hopefully Verizon unlocks AWS for the G2 soon. I used to have the Galaxy S4 on Verizon (now my Dad uses it) and after the newest radio update with aws unlocked the speeds were amazing 35-50 Mbps down, 15-25 Mbps up. In the same location with the G2 (no AWS) I get even slower than what you got, like 5-7 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up.

I think the recent 12B update was supposed to enable AWS. I can't confirm yet myself, I don't even know if I'm in an area that gets AWS.
Thanks for the reply...I'm kind of shocked that this isn't more 'known'. When the gs4 got the update, it was big news.

None work with 3g but I'm hoping one or both will soon. I wanna buy a galaxy note this week but am torn between which one to get that will get it enabled first. I have read the threads but not sure. It's there progress on this? If there is on which one? Thanks.
Does your area have 1900MHz frequency towers? T-Mobile has been rolling out 1900MHz in some areas and the areas that do will get you 3G on all versions of the Note and all other 3G phones.
For real! I live in Miami.
Check with your local TMobile store or call their HQ then. If you do have it you're good to go.

Well, my store said that in my area, TMobile doesn't have any plans this year to roll it out and they're not sure if my area will get it. So in short I have no idea.

To be frank, its not going to happen.
It was planned to roll out with the whole ATT &T-Mobile merger (this is why all the chitty chat happening), but since that folded, and now there is n more merger, there is now NOTHING on the board in the see able future.

If you're going to get the Note to use with T-Mobile, don't hold your breath for 3G support. If you are fine with Edge, get the international version, as it has the better CPU, and physical home button.
Only get the ATT version if you some how have use a upgrade in a family plan that you can steel for yourself.
It's like 580 for att version and 600 for int version. I don't know which one to get. But I want it already.
I went to Bestbuy today to get a universal remote and I decided to take a look at the Galaxy Note for At&t and man was that thing slow. I checked the running programs and there weren't any and I checked the ram and it had a good amount free. But damn it was so slow I couldn't believe. Based on that i would say the int version but a bunch of reviewers claim the Att version was faster..

I had same results. Today i played with the att note, it just came in today to the store. It was laggy and stuttery. We did side by side comparisons with my galaxy nexus and the nexus was silky smooth for things like scrolling a list from a market search, scrolling youtube list, webpages, etc. Perhaps the lack of exynos is the problem? It definitely made me appreciate my GN. The international note likely is the way to go.
Tmobile really dropped the ball..they should of released the Galaxy Nexus...it has 1700 3g..
according to this we use 1900MHz in San Diego on Tmo.. I have yet to hear that anyone gets 3G on the Note with Tmo here. I am getting mine later this week so I cant test to make sure just yet.

Hey guys. I Have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (SGH-I317M) and for some reason it fluctuates between HSPA+ and 3G signals rather than LTE. Yes I'm getting fast speeds but I can't help but wonder why this is happening. I mentioned that I'm with MTS so I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for. I live in Canada so it's probably not familiar to you. They just started carrying S3's which are running on their LTE network and they show 4G at the top of them when activated rather than HSPA+.

It is either the towers or your phone isn't compatible with the bands of LTE (there are multiple bands like there is with UTMS).

I'm pretty sure it isn't the towers cause my friends iPhone 5 is running off LTE and he live about 5 minutes away from my house. I've also been at distances one minute away from his house and did not pick up LTE then either. I don't know much about bands or frequencies but my carrier just launched the Galaxy S3's and they run off LTE and I'm assuming the Note 2 has the same hardware. S3: 700 (Band 17), 1700/2100 (AWS) MHz , Note 2: 700(band 17) 850 AWS 1,900(band 2). I'm clueless as to what those numbers mean but i'm guessing the important thing is Band 17, right?
Try going near his house then. Or have you checked the network settings? You may have to flash something.

I have to no avail. I had a friend try to help me out over the phone with network settings and his phone appears to have a setting that mine does not. When he goes into settings > wireless and network more settings > mobile network there is an option for him to toggle between LTE, HSPA+ etc. My phone doesn't have that for some reason. All that's listed is Mobile data, data roaming, Access point names, and network operators. Nothing to toggle between networks, which is probably what I need to enable LTE. I have no idea why that setting would be absent from my device. My friend was using an S3 on the same operating system as me btw.
From what i can tell it's the frequencies . The frequencies your device have seem to be different than the frequencies the s3 have on your carrier. If it's not that then you can check your apn settings.

What model is your phone, and what model is his phone. You said you brought your phone from a competing carrier who is likely using alternate frequencies that your phone might not be picking up either due to hardware or software limitations. Without knowing the hardware, and where it came from in the first place, we can't figure out what frequencies your phone is looking for and can't answer your question effectively.
download an app that will show you what is the type of connection you are actually on.
I think that maybe its the matter of incorrect icon.
There seems to be some confusion about this phone working on T-Mobile 4g
YES THE PHONE WORKS!! however if you want 4g you need to be in a 1900 refarmed area and yes LTE works as well.
I live in Katy, Texas which is a suburb of Houston which is a 1900 refarmed area. Phone works perfectly fine. I didn't have to do any set up. Basically just like a tmo phone. I haven't noticed LTE yet. It switches from 3g to H. Runs just as fast as my nexus 4 and one s. Just thought I would drop this info, hopefully it helped someone.

I would like to confirm that the Unlocked 32GB HTC One works perfectly in Phoenix, AZ as well. We're another 1900MHz refarm, and I've spotted LTE in some areas as well. Don't be afraid to grab this from HTC rather than dealing with T-Mobile's shinanigans and bloatware.
I'm in the boston area, which is also refarmed. pretty much same experience as op. all the set up was automatic.
the only thing different is indoors, sitting at my desk which is 3 feet from the window, my phone switches between E, 3g, and H every few minutes like it cant get a stable connection.
havent gone outdoors yet.
Speedtest during H connection was: 104ms ping, 5.13Mbps down, 2.07Mbps up
this is comparable to my g2 speedtests

Working faster than my galaxy nexus around chicagoland, only problem is that I cant no longer tether even with the mod UAstring but If I switch back to the galaxy nexus everything works fine. We need to fix this issue ASAP
I live in SD, our refarm is kind of strange and this is the first time I've ever used it(only used primarily tmobile phones for last 10 years). The one thing I will say is that it in SD it seems every other tower has been refarmed, as I will keep going in and out of HSPA. This was seen as I was driving around on the freeway(not texting but checking service). Another thing is that I can be on a tower that has been refarmed, go into a building, and have it revert to edge from HSPA outside. And then when I take a couple steps outside the building it works again.
Also I was wondering if anyone else has handcut their sim to microsim? I'm hoping that may be the issue, and if I get an official tmobile microsim it will be fine. Otherwise the refarm is superb when it works, getting about 10 Mbps down with my handcut(from diagram) sim
Houston Area
The Developer Edition work fine in Houston area. However, the data speed is jumpy. My Note 2 LTE speed stay above 15 MBS all the time but the One LTE will go from 5 MBS to 20 MBS. H+ on the one is not stable at all. Tmo agent told me to call back in a week for more info. If someone find out a way to optimize the Dev edition on Tmo radio please let me know.

New to the htc one but what is the tmo radio required for? Since it already works unlocked?
If I'm not mistaking it's 1700/1900/LTE out of the box the unlocked one doesn't have 1700 enabled. I'm sure a dev will eventually get it done. If you want 3g/4g data then you need to be in a 1900 refarmed area.

The ATT/dev ones are 850/1900/2100MHz UMTS; band 4 (AWS) is the only UMTS band that uses 1700MHz at all.
I wouldn't count on getting AWS enabled on the dev version. It is very likely that the allowed bands are configured in hardware as has generally been the case on MDM9x15 devices.

The unlocked version is strictly worse from a 3G standpoint but might have a couple of extra LTE frequencies (not 100% sure on that one, tmo version definitely is bands 4/17 only). AFAIK the only other place AWS is at all likely to matter is Canada, but assuming tmo will unlock your One there is no frequency advantage to getting the unlocked version from HTC--I think it's $5 cheaper.
If you travel internationally then that's a huge advantage.. but I'm sure tmobile will unlock your phone, if you ask. I purchased the unlocked version because I didn't wanna deal with my uncle (account holder) nor tmobile. Plus there wasnt any information about tmobiles release at the time, I so I hopped on the unlocked version.

I'm having the same issue with T-Mobiles Refarm @ 1900mhz keeps dropping from H to EDGE, and I just spoke to my Buddy that works for T-Mobile and there LTE will be on AWS 1700MHZ... I'm shipping this phone back to HTC, I was thinking of buying T-Mobiles HTC One Branded phone that includes the AWS 1700mhz Band, but I don't like the fact that its only a 32GB. I have an unrooted AT&T Galaxy S 4 with a T-Mobile simcard on the $30 plan. I followed the instructions in the other forum to enable AWS. (As a noob, I take it that enabling AWS would allow me to get faster data speeds, outside of LTE, that T-Mobile provides that AT&T does not.)
I just did the over the air update from AT&T, and people are reporting that they lost AWS. (When I use the app, SignalCheck Lite, both before and after the update, I have seen that I can be connected at various times to Edge, HSPA, HSPA+, and LTE, depending on where I am.)
I am not fully convinced I ever had AWS after going thru the enabling procedure, because I don't know how to recognize it if I am connected to it (or if it is now available on my phone).
So, excuse the dumb question, but how do I know if I have enabled AWS and am now connecting via one of its frequencies? Please be very specific on what to look for and where.
Thanks,
Edgar

Unfortunately, as a newbie to this, I need an explanation of how to do that!. Even without AWS enabled, the stock AT&T 4S comes with HSPA+ 21 enabled, so 4G would still show anyway, no, whether or not +42 is enabled?

I own both phones. The AT&T 810 and the international 815. To my surprise every speed test that I have done the AT&T version is faster than the international 815. Can’t explain it I would assume that each phone had the same hardware. My 815 and my 810 running on the same LTE band and I have tried different speed tests in different parts of the city even when the LTE band changed. For data download the AT&T is much faster. Again I have tested both phones side-by-side over and over and I would have assumed the 815 would’ve been the same or a little quicker. Even when I ran the quadrant speed test the AT&T beat my international version, not by that much but it still was faster poster just.
On top of this, my wife has a S6 edge and it beats my 815 in all the speed tests, it’s comparable to my 810.

I have attached some pictures of two different tests. On the 810 you can ignore the 175 because that was accidentally on Wi-Fi.
A couple of things I have noticed in the carousel of homepages on the 815 I cannot scroll around and around you will come to the end of your homepages on the left or the right. On the AT&T 810 it will carousel around.
The AT&T screen has a yellow to it were my 815 is very white to the point I think something’s wrong with the 810 (AT&T). That I will be returning the phone for screen without the yellow hue to it.
That's a cool observation. On a similar note, I found my G4 to be faster than my AT&T G3 by about 3mbps download.

I'm using the nano-SIM from my Nexus 6 with an adapter to make it fit in the G4...but that can't be it, right?

Not sure what it is because I was able to get 20Mbps down/ 4 up on ATT in Alhambra a few minutes ago on my 810.

Yep, that's a good download speed, and likely because you have the actual ATT version. I have the unlocked intl 815 version, which supports all the ATT LTE bands, but doesnt seem to be using them. I may try getting a new sim tomorrow, instead of using my old nexus 6 sim.

Also, were you on wifi? Those two numbers sound like wifi ratios. LTE uploads are usually closer to the dl speeds than that, but not always.

made sure wifi was turned off. With wifi, I get 60 down and 5 up at home. Hope that new sim card works out for you. :good:
I am surprised this is not getting more attention. Does someone with a TMobile version or H815T have ATT and can test their speeds, or an ATT phone on Tmobile network?

I have the 815T using cricket (att) network. I know not the same, but for what it's worth i max out the lte 8mpbs speed all the time.
So that's really interesting. I was about to pull the trigger on an international model. Does anyone have an ATT model or international model on TMobile network and can post their speed results?

when I got my 815 i had to go into settings>wireless networks>more>moble networks>network mode and change it to GMS/WCDMA/LTE in order for LTE to work on ATT. By defult it is turned off for LTE

Yep, I'd already checked that too. Going to try getting the new SIM today to see if that works. Tried a few more speed tests here in San Diego yesterday, still nothing above 10mbps.

The 810 shows 4G LTE icon. The 815 only shows 4G.
How are you verifying the 815 is actually getting LTE? As the images don't support.
