I own both phones. The AT&T 810 and the international 815. To my surprise every speed test that I have done the AT&T version is faster than the international 815. Can’t explain it I would assume that each phone had the same hardware. My 815 and my 810 running on the same LTE band and I have tried different speed tests in different parts of the city even when the LTE band changed. For data download the AT&T is much faster. Again I have tested both phones side-by-side over and over and I would have assumed the 815 would’ve been the same or a little quicker. Even when I ran the quadrant speed test the AT&T beat my international version, not by that much but it still was faster poster just.
On top of this, my wife has a S6 edge and it beats my 815 in all the speed tests, it’s comparable to my 810.

if both are tested on att, maybe they prioritize att variants over intl even for their subscribers...? just a thought. I'm leaving att as soon as i decide my next phone, likely the g4, but getting away from att is part of that. they have sheisty ploys at every turn.
What kind of speed difference are we talking? Give us some rough numbers, thanks.

I have attached some pictures of two different tests. On the 810 you can ignore the 175 because that was accidentally on Wi-Fi.
A couple of things I have noticed in the carousel of homepages on the 815 I cannot scroll around and around you will come to the end of your homepages on the left or the right. On the AT&T 810 it will carousel around.
The AT&T screen has a yellow to it were my 815 is very white to the point I think something’s wrong with the 810 (AT&T). That I will be returning the phone for screen without the yellow hue to it.
That's a cool observation. On a similar note, I found my G4 to be faster than my AT&T G3 by about 3mbps download.

Do you have the 815 directly on AT&T service or through one of their MVNOs like Straight Talk or Cricket?

Interesting. Must be some setting difference between the two. Wonder if you could use the 277634#*# dialer code to get into the settings and look for differences?
I have an 815 intl version on ATT in So. cal. , and trying Ookla speedtest all over town, I've yet to hit even 10mbps download, and about the same for upload. Is there a setting i don't have enabled? I'm using the nano-SIM from my Nexus 6 with an adapter to make it fit in the G4...but that can't be it, right?

Yep, that's a good download speed, and likely because you have the actual ATT version. I have the unlocked intl 815 version, which supports all the ATT LTE bands, but doesnt seem to be using them. I may try getting a new sim tomorrow, instead of using my old nexus 6 sim.

None work with 3g but I'm hoping one or both will soon. I wanna buy a galaxy note this week but am torn between which one to get that will get it enabled first. I have read the threads but not sure. It's there progress on this? If there is on which one? Thanks.
Does your area have 1900MHz frequency towers? T-Mobile has been rolling out 1900MHz in some areas and the areas that do will get you 3G on all versions of the Note and all other 3G phones.
For real! I live in Miami.
Check with your local TMobile store or call their HQ then. If you do have it you're good to go.

To be frank, its not going to happen.
It was planned to roll out with the whole ATT &T-Mobile merger (this is why all the chitty chat happening), but since that folded, and now there is n more merger, there is now NOTHING on the board in the see able future.

If you're going to get the Note to use with T-Mobile, don't hold your breath for 3G support. If you are fine with Edge, get the international version, as it has the better CPU, and physical home button.
Only get the ATT version if you some how have use a upgrade in a family plan that you can steel for yourself.
It's like 580 for att version and 600 for int version. I don't know which one to get. But I want it already.
I went to Bestbuy today to get a universal remote and I decided to take a look at the Galaxy Note for At&t and man was that thing slow. I checked the running programs and there weren't any and I checked the ram and it had a good amount free. But damn it was so slow I couldn't believe. I had same results. Today i played with the att note, it just came in today to the store. It was laggy and stuttery. We did side by side comparisons with my galaxy nexus and the nexus was silky smooth for things like scrolling a list from a market search, scrolling youtube list, webpages, etc. Perhaps the lack of exynos is the problem? It definitely made me appreciate my GN. The international note likely is the way to go.
Tmobile really dropped the ball..they should of released the Galaxy Nexus...it has 1700 3g..
according to this we use 1900MHz in San Diego on Tmo.. I have yet to hear that anyone gets 3G on the Note with Tmo here. I am getting mine later this week so I cant test to make sure just yet.

So T-Mobile USA has been branding their improved HSPA+ as 4G for quite a while and they have also been making physical changes to phones to get them to support up to 42mbps. Now it appears that they are doing the same to the Nexus 4.
In theory, 21mbps is plenty fast and in fact faster than most LTE phones get as actual download speed today but of course 21 is not actual speed. So with AT&T for example, you could be on their LTE network with a max speed much higher than 21 but actually get 15mbps while their HSPA+ network with max speed of 21 would give you only 4-5.
My question for anyone that knows this issue well: Is it the same case with TMobile's network? If you get the stock Nexus 4 capped at 21mbps and someone with a tmobile 42mbps phone is getting an actual speed of 15mbps, are you likely to get the same 15 or something lower?
TIA, Babak
You will get lower.
I have a gnex with 21 Mbps and before that I had a mytouch 4g with 14.4Mbps. Without changing the location (boston) where I was using T-mobile's network I see faster (not huge increase) network speeds with the Gnex.
BUT Google has the Tech specs sheet https://sites.google.com/site/androidpresssite/home/tech-specs
And here it seems that the Nexus 4 on the play store will be the exact same model as the T-mobile version (42Mbps) so I think everyone gets the good speeds (I hope!)
The question is...is the specs on the google play page a typo or a hidden feature (42Mbps via software/radio flash) or a different phone (SKU etc)?
If there is a special N4 phone for TMO, then, there will be different FCC reports indicating as such. One for the Play Store and one for TMo. We'll just have to keep an eye out and see.
I'm coming from a GNex and I haven't any complaints w.r.t. download speeds.
What I find really lame is the pricing that TMo has set if you buy their phone. Right now it is rumored to be $200 + $20 for 20 months. Currently, there is no full buy-out price except for what is listed on the Play Store.

Thank you very much for that insight. I haven't verified this independently but this implies that it's not the same phone and that the Play Store version will not get 42mbps:

The price also implies that it can't be the same device!

First, the radio speed is a maximum potential speed in ideal conditions. If you take a phone with a 21mbps radio, paired with a tower capable of 21mbps, you'd need to be under ideal conditions to get anywhere near it. I have a 21mbps radio in my SGS 2, but I'm on AT&T Medianet, so the best I've seen is around 7-7.5mbps (I suspect that 7.2 is the cap on Medianet). My wife has an iPhone 4s with a 14mbps radio, and the best I've seen on hers (legita unlimited plan unlike my medianet) was 8-9mbps.
As far as I remember, AT&T only supports up to 21mbps, so phones with a 21 or 42mbps radio on AT&T will have the same performance. But, a 42mbps radio on T-Mobile's 42mbps network will see higher performance than a phone with a 21mbps radio on the same network. I have seen people here and on other forums show off speedtest results in excess of 20mbps on T-Mobile's network. Naturally, your speeds will come down to many factors, to include obstructions, signal strength, distance to tower, local network congestion, swamp gas reflecting off venus, etc.

there is no such thing as a "tmo" version.
Well thanks to those who've confirmed that there is indeed a speed difference even under 21mbps between a TMO and standard phone but as far as the Nexus 4 in the Play Store, I'm no less confused...
It appears to me that come November 13, Play Store will feature a TMO version at a higher price but I'm not 100% sure yet.

If, and I do mean if, there are two versions, the T-Mobile "version" (which would just have different radios) would be directly from T-Mobile, probably not in the Play store. Probably.

So is HSPA+ 42Mbps the same thing as having DC-HSDPA?
I am wondering and hoping so. Right now I use Vodafone here in Australia and the new 3G+ network has DC-HSPDA but only the dreaded Apple devices support it so far.
Odd.
On the Play Store, it claims pentaband HSPA+21.
On the TMO announcement, it claims quad-band HSPA+42.
Either there are different radios, or there's a typo on one or both spec sheets.

I think it is a typo or something that needs to be added to the spec sheet on the play store. If there is a "TMo version" aka different SKUs, then, it will pop up in the FCC reports.

FWIW, that has never happened before. There has never been a phone sold by anyone other than TMO (or at least expressly for use on TMO) that has had support for 42mbps on their network. On the other hand, if I recall correctly, Google did sell different models of Nexus One for AT&T and TMO on their own site.

Right, but the Nexus One wasn't pentaband. It just doesn't make any sense to make a 21mbps version and a 42mbps version, when literally nothing else is different.

The iPhone 5 supports DC-HSDPA, but doesn't support T-Mobile's primary 3G frequency band. So you would only be able to get a 3G signal in select areas that have T-Mobile 1900MHz 3G towers, which aren't in many areas yet.
Has anyone had the chance to test it on other networks? I know it should work on T-Mobile with lte, but I'm debating whether to hold out a month for a international model, in hopes of it having the right lte bands for T-Mobile and no vzw bloat. Or a dev edition. Anyone else on the same boat?

It is impossible to purchase this phone without activating it on the Verizon network, which means you will need a contract or someone on a Verizon contract willing to activate it for you.
They will not let you buy the phone at retail and walk out of the store without activation. I have already tried, multiple ways. I do, however, have an active AT&T SIM and could perhaps try it. But I'd rather not.
Rumor is that Motorola has AT&T and T-Mobile versions on the way, be patient.
Yes I put my ATT sim in the phone.
It comes up with a warning that the sim card you're using is not from Verizon.
You can dismiss it and notice that you will see AT&T instead of Verizon Wireless at the bottom of the home screen.
The data icon shows 3G but speeds are more like HSPA+ speeds.
Voice and SMS not a problem.
I did not try sending a video in a text though.
APNs can be set and even after I did I did not see a 4GLTE icon.
Interestingly enough when I was done and put the Verizon SIM back in, the AT&T APN settings I put in earlier were completely gone, only the Verizon one was showing.
If TMO has a version that would be the one to get as they most likely will NOT have a locked bootloader AND you can walk out without activating at all, just pay cash or charge it, etc.
I have a friend with a TMO and give the associate that number and name on the account and tell the associate it's a gift.

Moto announcement in Brazil November 5th. Rumor mill consensus is it's for international turbo (Moto maxx). I'm waiting.

The APN settings stay with the sim. When I was testing sims on a nexus 4 the settings for each individual sim would disappear/reappear when I unloaded/loaded the sims.
Someone else posted they were getting weak at&t LTE on the droid turbo elsewhere..
I am using the turbo on T-mo
Hey,
I purchased the turbo and popped my t-mo sim in and set the APN for T-mo, and I am getting G, 3G and LTE. I dont seem to be getting HSPA. I get LTE most of the time and normal speeds, like 30MBps. I am really happy to have LTE. I am in minnespolis, so I am not sure which band is coming in...

You would be running lte off of band 2 and 4 since that'd T-Mobile's lte signal. As we speak I'm walking over to a vzw to check out the phone but will probably wait until the end of the month to get it if the international model doesn't have T-Mobile's lte bands

The Turbo will work on TMo, but I think its missing one of the spectrums for 42mbps. So its less reliable than would be expected.

definitely. But be patient, the Int Version is coming for sure. Motorola sent invitation already and it's not rumor. I really near to pull the trigger but after reading several news I decided to wait. Just a couple days....
Hope Turbo will receive good support from developer, if not... then nexus beat them all

I've been reading, but I'm doubtful the international model will have tmobile lte, the only international models that ever do are Sony. As far as the n6, I played with it a few weeks back, the 6 inch screen is definitely too big.

Have you checked your data speeds? The droid turbo doesn't have an icon for hspa+ because its a Verizon phone. Might just say 3g. TKe a look at network in the settings and see what it says.

You must be in an area that only has band 17 LTE for AT&T. This phone has band 2 and 4 LTE for AT&T and they are unlocked straight from verizon.
I am very interested in this phone but i will wait for the GSM version that will include band 17.
Since it is a Snapdragon phone I'm sure you can QPST unlock all the band. I did it on my G3 pretty painless but you can really mess some things up if you are not careful

Ok, that makes sense. the icons I have seen are G, 3G, and 4GLTE. I am on LTE most of the time and gotten download speeds of 46Mbs on LTE. When it is on 3G, the network type says UMTS.

Yes, HSPA+ is really 3G+ same difference. 3G=HSPA .'4G' = HSPA+
But in reality LTE is really the 4th Gen. In the states here they f'ed the naming so they can sound like it's blazing fast....

I just bought the phone today and swapped in my Tmobile Nano Sim. Its working perfectly with full LTE in Chicago. I had to add the Apn settings under mobike network to get it to work. Whenever I reboot the phone a notification reminds me that i'm not using a verizon sim. Its easily dismissed. I cant be happier, this is the "Nexus" I wanted all along.
My S7 Edge G935FD (dual SIM international version) gets only "4G" on T-Mobile in the San Francisco Bay Area, and never "LTE". Is this a "4G vs. LTE" naming issue, or does it lack the band T-Mobile requires for LTE? It also gets "H+" often, in the same location that my old S5 had full bars LTE.
Speed tests with the SpeedSpot app range from 17Mbps to 33Mbps down, and 3.75 to 7.5Mbps up on "4G", but only 5Mbps down and 1Mbps up in H+ areas.
I bought it from tropical_mobile on eBay.
I think 4g and lte are the same..

Just naming issue with international version.
@kvsandeepreddy is right.
LTE means LongTermEvolution which is the so called 4th generation of Mobile Networks. So LTE is 4G
1G = Analog mobile Network, I think
2G = GSM and EDGE
3G = UMTS and HSDPA
4G = LTE
FD version is released for asian countries... back in india we use 4g instead of lte
Poorer connectivity on S7 than S5

Well, that means that the S7 dual-SIM gets poorer reception than my old single-SIM S5:
In the same spot in the building (at my work desk), I'd get full LTE bars on the old S5, but only H or H+ at best on the new S7 Edge dual SIM. In practice this means ~6x slower downloads and ~7x slower uploads. Pretty ****ty.

Phone being a dual sim doesnt usually affect the sig al strength.. maybe the inbuilt receiver in s7 edge is defective.. heard some other people complaining about the signal strength too

No that's not what it means. The g935fd version is meant to be able to switch to any international firmware version. There are several different modems for each region. You are going to just have to flash different modems in Odin and see which one works best for your region. This does not trip knox or void warranty as long as you do it right because you are flashing official modems. As I said in the other thread you were in, do your research.
Can someone link me to the best modem to used on the dual sim model in the states?
Which modem did you end up using? I am also wondering which version is best in the US.

I'm just using the UAE firmware that the duos came with. It's updated with the June security patch. Only issue I've had is slower than normal download and upload speeds on at&t. It's not that big of a deal, just annoying. I think it has more to do with atts provisioning on their network. I'll post a solution if I figure it out, whether it's a different csc, apn settings or some device setting on my account.
4G is called LTE in USA. If you are getting 4G. That means you are getting LTE.
Cheers.

Yes, you are correct. However, I should have clarified that my statement is based on connection speed tests not on network symbols in notification bar. My slower speeds are in comparison to other 4g devices being tested in the same location on the same network.

Yep. I can confirm the same thing. I have 2 s7 edges. One is a DUOS and the other is AT&T branded. Tested both repeatedly and found that the AT&T branded device is getting way faster speeds than the DUOS. In my particular area the AT&T phone was reaching up to 60 Mbps while the DUOS was only hitting 30-40 Mbps. Very curious on how to fix this since this phone has all the necessary bands to support LTE in the states.

At least you're getting that. My speed tests are consistently in the .72 to 5 Mbps range on the DL and 1-7Mbps on the upload, which is basically about half to a third of what my other AT&T devices are getting in the same location at same time.

It's not just the bands. AT&T is known for prioritizing their branded phones vs. BYOD phones. It's done by EMEI ... they have a list of all their branded models in a DB and they get priority. TMO doesn't much care. I tested my Duos yesterday and TMO gave me 59.4/12.8 network transfer. It's as good as my 6P. My AT&T sim is in sim1 and is restricted to 2G which is fine since I need calls and texts only from it since it's a work #.
And it does support most of AT&T's bands except band30 which is really new. 4G everywhere else is LTE here as was said in other responses in this thread. It's most likely AT&T deprioritizing the phone as it's a BYOD.

It doesn't have band 12 so I'd save your money. Band 12 is just the deeper penetration 700mhz anyway which around me (SF area) can't be found. My Nexus 6P which has band 12 never connects to anything but band 4 .. ever.
Same crap... If it bothers you flashes the csc

I noticed this as well with my 6p. Supposedly band 12 was to save us all but my phone prefers band 4. I only got a glimpse of band 12 the other day then the phone switch switched back to band 4 when I toggled wifi on and off.

Hi everyone I just purchases the device for B&H Photo and I'm not getting LTE on att. I changed all the apn and still no luck. It's strange because when I put my cricket wireless sim I get LTE and band 17 works flawlessly. So I also trying putting my AT&T sim in my LG G5 and LTE works no problem. Any solution would be greatly appreciated.
that's odd. are we 100 percent sure the 996 has all bands for att lte?

You shouldn't have any problems. I hope you do figure it out. ATT uses bands 2, 4, 17, and 30. The US996 supports 2, 4, and 17. The lack of band 30 I don't think should be that big of a deal as it only appears to be available in congested areas to lighten the load on the other bands. I'd think that 2, 4, and 17 should be available everywhere where ATT is available. I'll have the US996 tomorrow and will try and remember to post my results. I have ATT also.

Just got back from AT&T because I needed a nano sim. I'm getting LTE no problem. I've seen reports on other phones not getting no LTE when their line isn't configured for it by AT&T. If you happened to have a non-LTE phone prior to this you may need to reach out and have them provision your sim.

Hey all...
I just got my V20 unlocked using it on VZWs network. Advance calling is working and I get LTE but I'm having an issue.
My signal sucks. I took the phone to work in DC same places I used my S5 and my speedtest yields a no network message. Apps were taking to 4 hours to down load, google play would lose its connection. My s5 got 12 hours and my v20 us996 died in 4 hours.
I have lte bars but the connection is poor. Calls via 4g advance calling were poor. I had to turn it off.
I was home Sat on Wi-Fi and the battery lastested 24 hours on wifi.
Now I'm in SC on my vacation sitting in a restaurant and can't pull up the internet on 4 bars or vzw lte.
Did a speed test on the same server side by side with my wife's s7. Her ping was 67 and 14 mb of down load and 2.5 mb upload.
My ping was 800 and got 1.5 down load and lost the connection on the upload.
I love everything else about the phone but I can't do this poor reception and quick diying battery becasue of it.
Spoke to Verizon tier two tech support and they say everything is perfect on the phone.
So dont know what to do now.

Crazy thing is that I'm sottong here on band 5 with 3 bars. Band 5 is an AT&T and I'm unlocked connected to Verizon service.
I'm having the exact same problem with my B&H phone - just showing 4G not LTE. But when I do a speed test, I'm getting 25MB/s down\5MB/up, so not so worried about it. I am having problems with phone calls too, but I use google voice so as long as there's a network connection I'm good. I'm going to run into an AT&T store and talk to someone - I bet there's something they have to do to bless the SIM card. I popped mine out of a Nexus 6P and put it into the V20 hoping it might just work, which it mostly is. It's not just you, in other words!
