[Q] KitKat coming to the Bade? - Blade General

Did someone see any test build anywhere? Do you guys think the blade will get kikat running? It could be a second life for the 3 years old smartphone!

It would be awesome to see 4.4 in our old blades

I'd really like to know how the 600 Mhz processor would perform along with the 512 of ram.

Nope.
Too many things to work on.
Just enjoy the latest JB 4.3 that is now available, build by our friend Konstat
Works flawless

I think if konstaT will make a rom for his blade 3, maybe could be possible he get a port for our blades. He's a great dev.

Hi,
People who say that Blade cannot handle 4.4 are definitly not true
after i fell of my bicycle , i have ruined my old Blade I.
I have started developing from scratch , and i build sucessfully Kitkat on Blade I as a test.
It runned perfectly smooth , gapps working , OC on 700 mHz.
I get everything working , only FM-Radio has not worked.
NOTE: When you use Spirit FM , the UKW-Radio is fully functional with headset.
I have added this line to build.prop to run phone in low ram mode (512MB) :"ro.config.low_ram=true"
The softbuttons are also very fine to use with.
Battery drained not as terrible as in 4.3 , so when you buy a bigger battery (at ebay etc.) , you could fully enjoy Kitkat on Blade I.
If someone know anyone selling his ZTE Blade I or even give it for free , please mail me , so i could start this project once again.

Screen drivers and miui compatibility.

Hello people!
Let me introduce myself.
I'm Moon i come from the LG gt540 threads and own different phones but they are all so good known that i don't need help with them often
i got the zte blade and thanks to @dRaCID01
did i get cm7 to run
now i want to ask the phone DOES NOT have multitouch but somekind of dualtouch going on could we edit/add other drivers to add 4+finger support?
does the hardware even support it?
-
Question two
i own an T-mobile G2 (not the hero) its like an ripped version of the desire z
and it runs miui fine it has an 3.7 inch screen and and hardware kb, and ONLY an clockspeed of 800mhz (overclockable) so couldn't the ZTE blade run miui if the desire z/G2 can?
everything seems perfect
Btw only answer if you know about miui and the hardware of the blade i don't want people who don't know anything to say that it doesn't work
you may give your thoughts but let the experts give the result.
MIUI is closed source so porting hasn't been possible. The hardware seems capable though.
I don't think the screen supports more than 2 touches though.

but someone ported it to the streak :3
and the admins on miui told me that it will work on every device just performance difference c:
and it ok. the multitouch is actually smooooth as hell on this device!
Interesting.

happy with ur phone?

hello guys,
i have an ace and m planning to buy a wildfire for a friend of mine..
im plannin to keep it on 2.1 for some months and then upgrade to cyanogen...
the basic apps i want are whatsapp , google lattitude n facebook. are they ok when running on 2.1? internal is 512 , system will eat some.
wat say? thank you.
Everything is ok and everything works fine with those apps.
But the main problem is its hard to find a new 2.1 wildfire at the moment. And if u find u r really lucky.
And why going for an outdated device now. I think there are many other options if u wish. Think again
my budget is Rs 10k....wat other device would u suggest? The main thing she needs is the camera with flash...dosent want to beg anyone else for flash ...
thanx

Wildfire camera if fine but video recording sucks due to the processor.
I will try to check if any other at 10K
thanx ...i think croma still has wildfire with 2.1
I would not reccomend it due to the fact that it is at end of life (im thinking of getting a sensation). Have a look at the zte blade if it is in your region and budget

Amazing, but it seems that what you said is indeed the case. The only other phone I was able to find was the SE Xperia X10 Mini.
But really, I think it would be better if you think a bit about it. If the flash is a critical component, then by all means go for the Wildfire, but, for any other purposes, get the Dell XCD35.
Doesn't the desire have flash? go for that , or the Blade, since it's cheap, but it's good.

yup....
Flash is a must for her.... so wildfire it is....
do zte blade and dell xcd35 have the same specifications?
coz GSM arena does not show any GPU for the dell xcd which is the indian version of the blade
It's the same. Just rebadged. You can ask nhnt11 from this forum, who has upgraded from the Wildfire to the XCD35 for confirmation, but I am pretty sure on this one myself.
PS: If possible, bump the budget a bit and get the Wildfire S. Far better value for the ~2.5K price difference.

KitKat made for low end devices with 512MB

Hello,
XDA and other sites have broken news on new features in KitKat and one of them is that its made for wearable devices with as low as 512MB. Our Desire Z has 512MB so this will be great news Obviously our processor still lacks and GPU drivers are sticks and gum but something is better than nothing.
I was excited to hear this when I first read that about KitKat. I'm quite excited to see if anyone out there is gonna work on a ROM once everything needed to port it over is available.

The team at Cyanogenmod has commented that this wont mean a revivial of old devices since a lot of things (drivers) are needed besides RAM but needless to say in my opinion and seeing what Jelly Bean brought to the table, I think its a good sign of things to come.
Sadly, there are few really active developers on JB/Desire Z. Lets hope someone comes out with a KitKat ROM.
Speaking of KitKat, here is a lot of the stuff ripped from the Nexus 5 ROM, I personally have all of them running on CM10.1 Andromadous (I think that's the right spelling.) Hope it helps people! bit. ly /1arIQCU (via DroidLife)
I would be very surprised if Kit Kat is ported to this wonderful device. The fact that it has been ported anything beyond Ice Cream Sandwich is astonishing already, so whether they support Kit Kat or not I'd still be happy until a true hardware keyboard phone comes out.

I would be really happy to see KitKat ported over. I mean even if it isn't I'd be happy running either CM10.1 or the Gslim 1.6 ROMs, but I hope that since KitKat supports lower ram that it helps performance wise. I'm tempted to try and get into developing roms but I'm quite a newbie when it comes to that.
i hope that somebody make it for our device
I'm a newbie as well when it comes to development, but if i have the time and someone ports 4.4 to a similar device (desire HD perhaps) then i'll definitely attempt to port 4.4 to the g2. I love my old g2, when i had to send my GS3 back do to a defect in the screen I used my g2 for 2 weeks and was still impressed with how snappy it was. So yea, I may end up attempting a 4.4 rom at some point. I'll share it here and perhaps some of the better developers can take it and improve on it

But not sure if there is a way to strip the video memory or even have dynamic vram.

I think it's fantastic, once in a while I'll come across a small little hiccup, but that's expected personally for a port. I would make it my daily driver but I use Gslim as my daily rom only for battery life because not around my charger much, otherwise I'd be running CM10

I can't post in the dev side of the xda here but where can I find the work gits for someone working on cm11.0 for this device I'm trying to get this thing to work again. Also is there a irc room for the group?
I figured the cwm version that built worked with the new set_metadata in the updater-scripts for the 4.3 and up
I would like to help with, (attempt to) coordinate, and start the development efforts for KitKat/CM11 on the G2.
I can beta test, build, and debug/reverse-engineer where needed.
I'm getting a build environment prepared, so it will be a bit until I crank out builds.

space?
space is not a problem, a slim cm12 rom like SlimCM could have enough free space, and moving all posible apps to SD would help to, and ART would be good for a second life to our phone.
But, about the hardware limitations, there is maybe some way to use the 3.4 drivers with 3.10 kernels? And, I ask, did the 3.4 kernel initially support our devices?

KitKat was already developed for low end devices, as it only needs 512 MB RAM and has a low graphics mode. But Lollipop needs more process power for its animations and other new features. I know it's sad, but we all knew that this journey would come to an end one day.
But that's just my two cents, maybe someone will port L and it works good [emoji6]

We've had a good run though. Our galaxy S has had some incredible support from A LOT of incredible devs. In fact were still getting new ROMs and updates now even after all the years our phones have been about. I don't think that L will run smoothly, but most likely we will see L hitting our phones, and maybe some dev will find a way of getting this to run well on our phones. Devs seem to love a challenge. It's thanks to such great devs that I'm still using my S1 as my daily driver after 4 years even after changing phones once, not liking the upgrade, and coming back.

CM 7.2 port to Xperia SP

I want some starting tutorial to help me port cm7.2 to xperia sp...
Don't ask why, for me gingerbread is the best version of android...
I would love to see SP hardware running gingerbread
It would be pointless to port Gingerbread to the SP, it's almost five years old and most apps require ICS or Jelly Bean to actually work.

Look at this. Jelly Bean and KitKat have the most market share, why do you want to install an OS that's nearly five years old? How long do you think it will be until the apps you use stop supporting GB? I feel that developing GB for the SP would be a complete waste of time, you'd be better off just installing KK, which is fast, stable and will (probably) be around for a few years.
I think that CM9 should be better.
On my old SGS I9000 ICS works much better than GB c:
Good luck !
