I want some starting tutorial to help me port cm7.2 to xperia sp...
Don't ask why, for me gingerbread is the best version of android...
I would love to see SP hardware running gingerbread
It would be pointless to port Gingerbread to the SP, it's almost five years old and most apps require ICS or Jelly Bean to actually work.

Look at this. Jelly Bean and KitKat have the most market share, why do you want to install an OS that's nearly five years old? How long do you think it will be until the apps you use stop supporting GB? I feel that developing GB for the SP would be a complete waste of time, you'd be better off just installing KK, which is fast, stable and will (probably) be around for a few years.
I think that CM9 should be better.
On my old SGS I9000 ICS works much better than GB c:
Good luck !

Guys, it's because gingerbread don't eat ram (nearly 70% ramfree) and his processing is fast , I don't care about compatibility...

Well google is your friend
i could find this link if it helps --
http://www.droidforums.net/threads/guide-how-to-build-your-own-rom-from-cm7-source.196475/
You can also contact other active developers like @Furrydaus and @Mrcl1450
and also there's a guide here by @Furrydaus --
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-sp/general/guide-how-to-build-android-source-code-t2991070
Hope it helps, Cheers!
1) There ain't source code for CM9
2) No one uses Gingerbread except for Legacy Users.
3) I actually have 10 Gingerbread Phones so don't think I don't know that its fast. I actually love the OS but its too old for the Xperia SP to run
I crown this "The Most Bizarre ROM Request for The Xperia SP"

can someone compile it for for DHD....
i know Dhd is not tablet but its big enough....

Yes please, can someone cook this up for our DHD's?
Errr, I'm sure an SDK is just an SDK and not a source? Want to cook it? See if it works with the guide on cooking your own rom in this forum...

No, but it's by no means impossible the first froyo custom ROM's where developed from the emulator images within the SDK so i wouldn't be surprised to see some limited functionality ROM's popping up in the next week or so

There are numerous stable builds of Gingerbread around this section, what are you waiting for?! Battery Life is also very acceptable on CM7 builds, much better than it was on CM6.
Just been looking at the Honeycomb emulator and it looks great, but I don't think it's built with the smartphone in mind.
Regards.
but I thought it is only for tablet. Will we lose our fone function?
this would be too awesome, seems to be cyanogenmod8 is in production, tablets have fone function as well ... so it wont loose any !
+1 it would be really gr8 if someone do us this favor and develops a 3.0 ROM. That would be really awesome.
first of all, sdk's never give a good rom, and second this is just a preview
Ran it on my emulator. Pretty sweet. Though Honeycomb would be much worse since it's for the tablet freaks but looks pretty nice
who is hAve here a link rom honeycomb for dhd ?

look there , can some one port this to x8 ?
You can't have this on the X8 because of the following reasons:
We need at least 512 Mb of Ram. 1 Ghz Cpu minimum or at least 825 mhz.

You must be using Xperia™ arc S, Xperia™ neo V or Xperia™ ray, running the latest Xperia™ software release (which is 4.0.2.A.0.42). Please note that you can’t use the original Xperia™ arc or Xperia™ neo, as they have different partition layouts.

I've never said that he's working for nothing..
Just that x8 has hardware limits.. It's very difficult for me to try explain it in english..
Look. Try to port windows 7 on a 800mhz with 256mb ram.. It will be extremely difficult.. I think it's a little the same.
Course he's doing great job.. I tested it and it's running well.. but I'm perplexed that we can run ICS with all of his fonctionnality on our x8.
But I hope I'm wrong

Nothing in IMPOSSIBLE... it's sometimes confused with very, very, very hard

I think you're right : nothing is impossible..
But I think too you understand my reasoning
I have seen a lot of talk lately with people comparing the ICS development ROM's to Task 14.. I have been swapping back and forth almost daily between AOKP #23 and Task 14 Slim so here are my thoughts..
1st of all both are awesome ROM's that offer plusses and minuses depending on what each individual wants and needs.. These observations are based on MY wants and needs so opinions will vary.. The fact that Task 14, a HC 3.2 ROM even gets mentioned / compared to an ICS ROM speaks volumes about how good it is..
Things I like about AOKP #23:
--Browser hardware acceleration
--No screenshot soft key (I loathe that thing)
--ROM Control
--Ability to set # of homescreens
--Swipe to dismiss
Things I like about Task 14:
--Rock solid and stable
--Camera works for video chat
--Just as fast as ICS in many areas and faster in some
--Mini widgets
--Several awesome themes available
The AOKP is actually pretty stable for the most part and Roman and team have done an awesome job on it but remember it's a beta so there is issues and bugs at the time of this posting.. Task 14 is super rock solid and its really only limited by HC 3.2..
I honestly can't decide which I like better.. They both ROCK! I guess that's why I change between them daily..
A few AOKP issues I have is with apps and the screen.. Words with friends is a good example of this.. Also, the screen gets a little glitchy at times when viewing online images.. Nothing major and by no means a put down on AOKP...
I have had zero issues on Task 14 that are not widespread HC 3.2 related..
If you can live without the camera and are willing to experience a few minor bugs here and there then the AOKP may be for you.. If however you want rock solid with zero bugs, a working camera and a system that is just as fast then Task 14 may be for you..
These are MY thoughts and comparison of 2 kick a$$ ROM's... Thoughts and replies are welcome but please don't turn this thread into a pi$$ing match...
You're just asking for a pissing match. I'll just watch... for now...:sly:

I hope not since they are both awesome ROM's...
I've tried ics, very fast and smooth without touchwiz is a godsend. There is only one 3g ics rom so I have not tried romanb's yet. 3g is a big deal to me. Other thing with isc is no proper USB/mass storage support. It does not show all files that I've downloaded from net except whatever files I transferred to tab. Camera is another big issue for me, or lack of. Video does not work also from the rom I tried. Some apps on market not supported also so cant update. That's my summary of isc. HC3.2 on the other hand is improving. I have not tried Task as again no 3g. I'm a big fan of Alterbridge and his Overcome roms. Been using his rom since the original Tab. His latest 2.3.0 soup up with pershoot kernel is more than great for me. ISC is great but for my daily usage, its not ready yet.

I do realize this is XDA but I guess I hope we all will act like adults and that this mini review will help anyone who can't choose between these 2 awesome ROM's.. Heck I'm having a hard time choosing.. The OP was made on Task 14 and this post is getting made on AOKP..
Good comparsion between the two. Personally, I use Task14 with b00sted's ICS theme. No ICS can compare to it right now, but once the camera issue is solved, ICS will be boss.
All us Task fans are hoping for a Task ICS ROM soon.
BTW, good thread OP.
A Task ICS ROM will be awesome once it comes.. I'm back on the AOKP for this morning as least..
I think we scared off the ones that would have made this a pissing match. Good.
BTW- nice OP.

He is comparing what is available today. The OP is well aware that ICS is in development but he is looking for a daily driver and was looking for others opinions on what we use.
Until ICS is official there is no way to do a 1 for 1 comparison.

Easy you try them both and yes ics is alpha but thats what is available now and is the point of this thread. I came to the same conclusion as the OP after using both kang versions. the arguably incremental improvement in smoothness does not outweigh the full functionality goodness of galaxytask
Adding Visidon even gives me face unlock features and with camera ics+ i get the camera panorama functionality on my galaxy task rom

Even though it is supposed to be alpha (since the Camera mainly does not work and there are also some minor bugs), it is quite stable for daily use as I myself use it and the best part is there are some amazing customisation options ..... literally mind blowing!
Thanks for the review. Still haven't custom rom'd it up yet.
When does the official ics come out?
i have found that the battery in the latest ICS kangs (not the one on XDA as that doesnt get updated! but the one on rootzwiki) is by far lots better than any HC.
So indeed for an alpha release ICS is looking very good compare to an already establish HC rom.
So I can only imagine how good ICS will be when SS releases it...hopefully in April..
bit OT interesting that there are no leaks yet from samfirmware!

Agree as well... ICS is not mind blowing and is only slightly snappier than Taks 14 in some areas..
Till now we all know that Android 4.1 Jellybeans is in slot now. Even SDK is out. Sources are not on-line though. But I believe it will be very soon.
Now it's a big question whether HTC HD2 can hold Jellybeans or not? As fas as information on net concern Yes we can see JellyBeans on our beloved HD2. As drivers are almost same so it wont be a big problem to port it in our phone. With only 5-6 major changes JB is almost same as ICS. Some new features are there in JB like Google NOW, Off-line voice text is very cool about JB.
So in short we will see JB as soon as they release source codes.
If you find anything interesting you guys can post here so that we can have faith that HD2 will have JB.
Happy Hacking.
A dump of 4.1 has alreaady been posted on the NAND Thread, about 5 hours before your post, so shouldn't be too long to see if it can be ported.
I will still stick with GB but I'm willing to try JB. I hope they have the fix for Netflix. ICS still have some problem.
No it doesn't, it's pretty much perfect. I personally have no flaws in my day-to-day ICS usage.

and the tytung ics rom is freaking awesome
Don't get me wrong. I love Tytung's work as well. I flashed 4.04 just few hours ago because Netflix has a new update. I thought it will solve the problem and keep me from using ICS for good but still Netflix won't cooperate.

space is not a problem, a slim cm12 rom like SlimCM could have enough free space, and moving all posible apps to SD would help to, and ART would be good for a second life to our phone.
But, about the hardware limitations, there is maybe some way to use the 3.4 drivers with 3.10 kernels? And, I ask, did the 3.4 kernel initially support our devices?

KitKat was already developed for low end devices, as it only needs 512 MB RAM and has a low graphics mode. But Lollipop needs more process power for its animations and other new features. I know it's sad, but we all knew that this journey would come to an end one day.
But that's just my two cents, maybe someone will port L and it works good [emoji6]

We've had a good run though. Our galaxy S has had some incredible support from A LOT of incredible devs. In fact were still getting new ROMs and updates now even after all the years our phones have been about. I don't think that L will run smoothly, but most likely we will see L hitting our phones, and maybe some dev will find a way of getting this to run well on our phones. Devs seem to love a challenge. It's thanks to such great devs that I'm still using my S1 as my daily driver after 4 years even after changing phones once, not liking the upgrade, and coming back.
