Volume lock, Headphones - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I want to lock the volume buttons on my phone and still beable to control the volume with my headphones.
When I put my phone into my exercise belt the volume buttons sometimes get pushed and I blow my ears out or lose my music.
It's there an app that can allow me control over my volume via headphones only when the headphones are plugged in?
Thanks-

And again just working out and some how I reported a police trap on Waze. If I could some how disable power and volume buttons that would be great.

Q why does the volume rocker only control media volume?

So I've had the n7 for a few weeks and love it. Running android 4.2 and nothing rooted. The 1 thing that annoys me most is that the volume rocker only seems to affect media volume, no matter where I am on the device. I have to open setting to adjust notification volume.
This isn't how it has worked on any other Android phone or tablet I've used. The volume rocker controls notification volume on everything else and it adjusts the media volume when I'm in a game or music/movie player.

If you find out the reason, i want to know it.
I wish it would only control media volume for me, i hate it controlling the ringer/notification volumes, but unfortunately there's no "fix" for that.
Maybe you found the magic solution xD
I found if im watching a video or listening to music it will only effect what im listening too, or if I do it on the main screen with nothing running it will change all the volumes.
You can press the rocker once and then tap the mixer button on the right side of the volume slider to bring up other volume options, but the main reason is most people set the notification volume and then just leave it alone. Media volume is the only thing that needs quick adjusts, usually. -Ara

This makes sense, but it's not what I'm used to. I guess I have to adjust to it. I'd like to be able to just control notification volume from say the home screen like I can my on my android phone. Oh well. 1 extra step won't kill me

Earphones Volume buttons not working

Hi,
I have a Soundmagic E10M earphones.
It has 3 buttons, 2 volume keys and a call button.
But the volume keys does not work, they work fine on my iPad.
Is there any way to get them work on my Nexus 4.

Try other normal headphones if they work then probably Soundmagic might not be compatible with N4.

[Q] 9505G Volume Issues

Wife has a GT-I9505G Google Edition phone we purchased from Google Play back in October. Bone stock (4.4.2, Baseband: I9505GUEUCML4, Build: KOTH49H.S001.131204), no root, nothing special installed.
When she goes to increase the volume, we hear 2 "volume increase" noises. They're very close together and very fast. This _only_ happens when she increases the volume. When you hit the VOL DOWN key, it plays the single, standard sound. This is annoying. Has anyone else seen this??
Also, when she has her headphones on (pair of Scoche with inline remote and mic, built for iPhones) and she adjusts the volume up or down, you can hear the volume adjust sounds in the headphones, but also from the phone itself. The same goes for when a call comes in, or Hangout. The Notification sound is played on the phone and headphones. She doesn't want that behavior. If the headphones are plugged in, the notification should only go over the headphones. (On further research, this "feature" appears to be deliberate. Some have tried SoundAbout to fix this behavior).
IPhone head sets are not compatible with android phones. The configuration of the pins are different.

The headphones work as headphones and the mic also works during phone conversations. So that statement isn't fully true. I know the internals of the remote are different which is why "Made for iPhone" headphones don't 100% work on Android devices. The middle button of the 3 can do play/pause. The Vol Up/Down buttons do not work. This is all due to the internals of the remote, and not the "pins" on the headphones. There is a way to modify "Made for iPhone" headphones to work with Android.
Still, it seems the issue about Notification Sounds being played through the headphones _and_ phone speaker isn't really an issue. It's designed to function in that manner. Many people don't like this design (and I can see a case for and against it) so there are apps on the Play Store to "fix" it. We're using SoundAbout now and it did fix that issue.
The other issue still remains, and that's the problem where you hit VOL UP and most times, you'll get a double VOL UP sound. VOL DOWN gives the standard one sound, but VOL UP, gives 2 really fast. That's annoying.
Last night, we discovered that certain apps (when running in the background) will only display the MEDIA VOLUME when you hit the VOL UP/DOWN buttons. Specifically, when we had Bejeweled Blitz running in the background, the MEDIA VOLUME would be the only option for volume control. When we closed BB, it took several seconds for Android to give us the phone volume instead of media volume. I'm thinking the only solution will be to unlock her phone, and install root, then several XPosed modules to give her more functionality.

Low volume on car bluetooth

When i connect my iphone 5c to my car, music plays so loud with 13 volume. But my z3c to have the same level of loudness in my car is at 23 volume level. So sometimes when i switch to radio, the loudness gives me heart attack because usually in radio with 13 vol level is quite loud.
The temp fix is i have to never forget lowering the volume down before i switch to radio. Pretty annoying. Any idea?

Increase the bluetooth volume on your phone when it's connected?
Whenever mine connects its default is like the lowest volume on the phone so I have to turn it up using the phone first. It's really annoying.

You never tried pressing the Volume rocker on your phone after it connected to your car stereo?

It's a safety measure for your hearing in case it was accidentally turned to max volume. A little inconvenience but not annoying for me. I use Bluetooth stereo headset.
Oh well i didnt check my phone's volume. Let me try it later when im back at my car. Thanks

Notification sound volume when wired

Is there a way to control it, as whenever i get a new notification while listening to music it gives me a jolt.
BTW, all volumes are already on the lower side, up to 3 notches from 0.
