Hi everyone,
first of all i hope it`s not a double thread, I could not find any BTU discussion of 4.3.
I`m getting really lost in this OTA / Kies compatibility over here..
My S4 was rooted now I`m trying to restore it to official state to make it OTA update compatible again.
The phone was bought in UK, GSM phone.
There was a matching firmware, which should be compatible for updates here, but i keep getting the same "Your firmware is not supported..." error message again and again.
Details:
AP: I9505XXUEMJ7
CP: I9505XXUEMJ7
CSC: I9505BTUEMJ8
Current binary: Samsung Official
System status: Official
Later on 2nd try:
AP: I9505XXUEMJ7
CP: I9505XXUEMJ8
CSC: I9505BTUEMJ8
Current binary: Samsung Official
System status: Official
So far after trying to help my problem with Google all I got, that I9505XXUEMJ7+I9505XXUEMJ7+I9505BTUEMJ8 is the latest official state and BTU is for the UK.
If someone could explain what is wrong here, I would be very happy.
Thanks.
Thread says the same, that I`m using the correct version

Is my question so stupid or is it an unique problem that I have so no one will reply?
Maybe I'm missing something here but have you reverted to stock, stock recovery and Triangle Away first. You cannot receive OTA updates or Kies if your device is rooted or has a custom recovery etc...
Yes, Triangle away done, stock rom, stock recovery.
Cool, is BTU the correct firmware for you? Are you on a different carrier there? Can you flash the stock ROM you want through ODIN? (gotta run for lunch but I'm sure someone better than I will help)
restock
put phone into download mode
open kies select firmware upgrade initialisation
enter model number and serial number in capitals
make sure both are correct you can find it on the box or under the battery.
Thanks everyone, I`m gonna do it all over again this evening. BTU is correct for me, its unbranded gsm unlocked phone from UK.
Edit: Boring day in job here.. redone the whole thing and it works now.
Thank you everyone, again.
Coming from the Note 3 (SM-N9005) I have a few questions as I want to get a S4 (I9500) after I read all sorts of threads and posts but couldn't find definitive answers:
I want to buy an unbranded I9500 in India (INS or INU) which will be running on I9500XWUBMG5 or earlier firmware I assume, is there a Regionlock already active or will it become active with the OTA update to 4.3 (I9500XXUEMJ5 and above)? If yes, is there any reliable method to unlock it (Chainfire's RegionLock Away for the N9005 doesn't work, right?)
Knox is a pain in the a** on the N9005 and is it true that with 4.3 Knox also arrived on the I9500 which means rooting is more difficult now if not impossible (CF-Autoroot and Root de la Vega not working)?
I would like to change my CSC as I need the German language input (there is MBC firmware running on I9500XXUBMG1), is this app in the Playstore working for the I9500 and can I change INS/INU to MBC?
As there doesn't seem to be 4.3 for MBC I will probably be good with 4.2.2 as it doesn't have that Regionlock and Knox crap. Any (positive/negative) thoughts on this?
Thanks a lot for your input guys, it's very much appreciated
Hi All,
Ive searched and searched and cant find anything, i have just acquired a SGS4, I9505.
First of all... you will need to know this:
AP: I9505XXUDMGG
CP: I9505XXUDMGG
CSC: I9505VFGDMG3
Im on a understanding that this is on Voda (UK) software, however the handset isnt locked to Vodafone. I recieved this second hand and have a Three network sim on it.
My question:
I see on Samsung-updates.com and SamMobile that there are loads of 4.3 software variants available to download and flash, would i specifically need to look for a MGG one? (If so i can only find 4.2.2 ones) or would any UK Variant work? I was wanting to try this before i think about Custom romming the handset. . . Also, if i am available to do this would it lock the phone to Vodafone (If the handset was ever unlocked before i got it)
Thanks in Advanced guys.
Rob
Hi Guys,
I would like to first root my phone and upgrade to KitKat 4.4 firmware and remove the Optus bloat ware. I have stumbled across this firmware and wanted to know if it would be safe to upgrade?
Firmware: I9505XXUFNA1_I9505OXAFNA1_I9505XXUFNA1_OXA - from sammobile
Currently with Optus and my settings are:
Model: GT-I9505
Product Code: GT-I9505ZKAOPS
PDA: I9505XXUEMK9
CSC: I9505OPSEMJ5
Modem: I9505XXUEMK9
Any help would be greatly appreciated
I dont recommend that process coz:
1. The Australian (OPTUS) firmware still without receive the correct android 4.4.2 update.
2. i9505XXUFNA1_I9505OXAFNA1_I9505XXUFNA1_OXA is only a LEAK KitKat firmware (with bugs).
3. You own a branded phone. Better only disable the bloatware at this moment or root it without void ur warranty if you can

Hey guys..
So I was trying to install a Korean Note 3 4.2.2 firmware (SM-N900S) on my Australian Note 3 (SM-N9005) using ODIN but was a failure.. It wouldn't proceed, saying "failed" so I gave up and instead of that I've installed UK Note 3 4.2.2 (SM-N9005)..
But I still want to install Korean firmware on my phone!!
So does anyone have any idea why this was a failure??
Is it because the model name is different?? (Will changing the model name by rooting help?)
From my past experience, I was able to install international firmware even without changing the model name..
About my device:
AP: N9005XXUEND3
CP: N9005XXUENC2
CSC: N9005OXAEND1
If you need any information about my phone (version etc.) Please ask!!
So I'm currently on UK BTU 4.2.2 (SM-N9005) and trying to install Korean SKT 4.2.2 (SM-N900S).
*This isn't a custom rom!!
Please help..
Thanks!!

The boot sequence in modern phones is secure/restricted (and Odin also tries to enforce it even before the boot - to stop you from writing bad stuff).
Basically the bootloader is different (something that you can also see even on the same N9005 model when going from 4.3 to 4.4 - 4.4 does not work with old 4.3 bootloader and currently there is a restriction which stops you from downgrading the bootloader).

But I'm not trying to downgrade.. Will it still not work..?
Also then, is there any other way to break this restriction?
