Hello all, if anyone can help me with this problem, that'll be great because I've been trying for days different ways to fix it and still no success. First of all, I'm on MF3 and I've rooted my phone via Kingo. I installed safestrap recovery and everything and i know it is only compatible with 4.2.2 TW based roms and GE roms as that's all I've flashed so far. Well that's just the problem, none of the TW based roms work, so far I only got the GE rom to work. I've tried all rom slots and Deadly Venom, and Darthstalker. I've used ODIN to return to stock TWICE. I'm getting restless as i dont know what is the problem here. So basically any TW based rom I install through ss restarts my phone, buts me into recovery mode, but instead there is a dead android robot on the ground with a red exclamation point and it reads:
"#MANUAL MODE#
--Applying Multi-CSC...
Applied the CSC-code: ATT
Successfully applied multi-CSC."
Please if someone else has the problem, so i know I'm not alone or would kindly guide me through some steps that may fix it I will be really grateful.
Are you creating a rom slot and flashing the roms to that?

Yes, I am.
Bump.

I am new to flashing so sorry if I have asked some stupid questions.
I have SGH-I337 (ATT) and would like to root and then maybe install Cyanogenmod or any other custom ROM.
Device Details:
Baseband - NC1
Build No. - NC1
Android Version - 4.4.2
I tried to root NC1 directly using motochopper. Then I read and I am now trying to downgrade.
I have got ODIN 3.09 but it does not say support to I337. I have gone through Noob Helper
I have downloaded all zips from Downgrade
After reading the article of Modems; I got confused about my bootloader.
I also have gone through the thread but after that confusion, I did not proceed ahead.
Could anyone please help me?
How to identify boot-loader?
Which ODIN to use or do I need to use SAFETRAP (not sure if bootloader is MF3) ?

Dont worry about Odin saying the device is i9505 or so. The flash will work.
For samsung phones running full stock firmware, all the components have the same version. Since your build is NC1, your bootloader is also NC1.
You are in the right track. Follow the downgrade thread to partial downgrade to MK2. Then use saferoot to root. Then install safestrap v3.72. Then use the deadly venom kitkat magic tool to install any kitkat rom of your choice from this list (post 3).
You cannot install any AOSP based rom. So, no CM. Even google play edition roms dont work.
You can install AOSP themed roms (like BlackBox3.0)

Thank you for the response. I have downgraded to MK2 and have done the root.
I was wondering if you could tell me if it is possible to install Liquid Smooth ROM. I have seen the video and I have downloaded from here which says S4 unified. Also, there are some videos claiming CM on S4.
Could anyone please help on the same?

As already stated, no AOSP based roms will work (ROMs that are built by compiling AOSP code). Only TouchWiz based roms will work. If you need AOSP look and feel, you can install an AOSP themed rom.
CM/AOSP on ATT S4 is only possible if you have the MDB/MDL bootloader. Anything above that, it wont work.

Sorry for the repeated questions.
I tried to update through Safestrap with BlackBox. But I got stuck on the boot screen where it shows Samsung Logo. I might have done something wrong. I just clicked next on BlackBox 3.0. Could anyone please help me !
Edit:
When I tried to reboot into recovery mood (Vol Up + Home + Power) it says:
" Secure Fail Kernel
(Warning Sign) System Software not authorised by ATT has been found on your phone"
Don't select the reboot now option in the aroma installer at the end. Then, after the ROM flash is complete and before you reboot the phone, you need to put the phone back in download mode and flash the MLD ap/bl/cp files from the tool

I flashed the NB1 using ODIN but it still stays on Samsung Logo with custom logo. I am not able to navigate any where else from that screen.
Edit:
I was able to go into system recovery. Please let me know if I can fix the error somehow.
Thanks a lot !
Get into stock recovery and factory reset. I am not sure why you flashed NB1 though, as there is no direct root method for it yet

He probably was following the steps that were provided elsewhere here that had you go from nc1 to nb1 then back to the M (I can't remember which M) one.

I had rooted MK2 and the installed the custom ROM (Blackbox) and then was suppose to flash NB1.
So, if I just did a factory reset it would solve my error?
Thanks for the help!
Edit:
I tried doing the factory reset. It just wipes all the user data. And I am still stuck on the same screen with Samsung and the custom logo.

You did not mention your phone firmware but based on your post, your firmware might be NB1 or NC1 since you said that you successfully installed the safestrap 3.72.
You did not mention which version of GE you flashed but I guess that might be GE28 or later. If you did, those roms are based on KitKat (android 4.4.2)
You flashed the hyperdrive15 which is written for jelly beam (android 4.3) based on the rom for the MK2 firmware.
GE rom installation for safestrap did not mention to install the rom in the different slot, so I guess you installed the GE rom in the stock slot.
Hyperdrive15 installation for safestrap mentioned to create/switch slot so you may or may not install the rom in the stock slot.
As far as I know, safestrap 3.72 does not support extra rom slot other than the stock rom slot. It appears that hyperdrive instructions were written for the safestrap 3.71.
May be that was your mistake.
My suggestion been odin the stock rom that corresponding to your firmware. Use tworl root to get rooted.

I do not know much about the Hyperdrive since I am a GE user. Also, Hyperdrive 17 mentioned that it would work for the ATT phone but 17 is posted only the Verizon forum.
For the ATT phone with NC1 firmware the steps for flashing the custom rom involves - 1)flash the rom, 2)flash the NC1 kernel module and 3) flash the supersu.
The correct compatibility pack might be referring to the kernel module, I guess. In that case, the pack for 15 might be written for the MK2 kernel module and it might not work with your NC1 firmware.

Yes. The kernel module is the att module needed to get WiFi working. It can be found after extracting the download from the deadly venom KitKat magic tool thread.

Okay, so I'm almost positive there is probably a thread for this, but I'm having trouble finding exactly what I'm looking for and very new to doing all of this on my own. I usually have a buddy help me out (aka he does it all).
I am running 4.4.2 Kit Kat on NC1 and I was finally able to root my device using TowelRoot. I've been trying for days now to install ClockworkMod custom recovery, but to no avail. Odin has failed, the command prompt method has failed, and Rom Manager app has failed. Is there just no compatible builds for any of this? I'm not entirely sure how this all works or why any of it is failing. What can I do to install CWM or TWRP and get CM11 back on? I need all kinds of explanation, so don't skimp on the details! Thanks guys!
You can't install clockwork. You have to use safestrap. Read the all things mk2, nc1 thread. It will tell you just about everything you need to know. Is an awesome thread and how I learned everything about this phone.

Awesome! That's exactly the direction I'm looking for! Thank you so much.
No problem at all. We've all needed help on here from time to time. Good luck.
Great advice above. To add to it you will NOT be able to use CM11 on your device at this time or probably ever. Also you will NOT be able to ever flash CWM or TWRP recoveries.
You can ONLY use safestrap recovery which ONLY allows flashing Touchwiz based Roms.
You can ONLY flash Touchwiz based Roms because with Safestrap it will NOT flash any custom kernels. A custom Kernel is need to flash CM11, AOKP, and other AOSP Based roms.
You also CANNOT downgrade your bootloader as it is locked down hard. The locked down boot loader is why all above cannot work for your device. ONLY the original phones that came with MDB or MDL firmwares were able to use the Loki Bootloader Bypass, which allowed for flashing CWM or TWRP recoveries and then allow ANYTHING like any custom Roms (also based or Touchwiz based), flash custom kernels, flash anything. But any phone updated to the MF3 firmware or newer the boot loader was locked down too much to do much.

I'm extremely new at rooting and flashing roms, so please excuse my ignorance. I have a Verizon Note 3 SM-900V. I'm running Android 4.4.2 and my Baseband version is NC4. I've rooted it using"TowelRoot" and have installed Safestrap 3.72. I've booted into recovery partitioned slot 1 and wiped it. Then I installed HyperdriveRLS7.zip I hit reboot after it says it's finished installing the rom. Whenever I try to boot into the rom (slot 1), my screen goes black and my blue LED light stays on. I also tried flashing the rom named "hltevzw.Jellybeans.zip" and it does the same thing. Am I doing something wrong or is anything incompatible with the other? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

First of all you need to know that you cannot use rom slots on NC4 only the stock slot. You can use the stock slot to flash custom roms.
Second you need to update you firmware to the so-called unified firmware which is simply what you currently have and the NC2 kernel which can be found here. Just follow the instructions and you'll be good to go.
Third you should upgrade to Safestrap 3.75 found here.
If you have soft bricked your phone (this will be the case if after pulling the battery you cannot boot into Safestrap, you'll need to flash the stock firmware via odin which can be found here, reroot, and then follow the above directions.
Now once you get all this taken care of you can flash a custom rom. Any rom based on NC2/NC4 will work, however any rom based on any earlier firmware will not work and may softbrick your phone, Jellybeans being one of them. Make sure you read the OP (Original Post) before flashing anything. Know what you are flashing, if you are unsure there are many many forum posts to read through that are full of info.
If you have any other questions just ask.
Many Thanks!
Glad to help.

Did you know the new Moto X was just announced and should be out in a couple months? Oh well, check out these forums. I don't know anything about the Moto X so I won't be able to help you sorry.
Pardon the noobishness.
My 4.3 was rooted via towelroot and has Nova launcher,
as I have read for months about recoveries, ROM's, Kernels, bootloaders etc
and am more confused than when I first looked into rooting!
3 days ago I decided to flash my stock ROM so that I could update from 4.3 TO 4.4.2 VIA kies.
Immediately I was underwhelmed!
My phone turned itself off randomly.
The K on the kit katkat screen did not spin.
I lost my root, so I thought I would try and re flash the i9505XXUEMK9. Odin said in yellow "failed".
I waited about 15 minutes and nothing was happening and unplugged, big mistake,
the screen had a yellow picture, oh FUDGE!
So I took it to the Samsung Store in Sydney and I was lucky enough that the store was empty and a tech came up to me(!?)
I didn't have a reciept, but I told him the story and he said he could help.
He connected it to his laptop and asked me what carrier, and 10 minutes later,
phone was working and he had flash the Optus logo onto it
I was so happy!
When the phone booted up there was the towelroot and Titanium apps on the screen, but he didn't even care
I take it home, towelroot doesn't work, so I investigate, and the answer is Chainfire, all good.
The stress of it all!
Then I decide to hell with a custom ROM, I found Xposed with Gravitybox
and spent all arvo trying to make it work and Nudda!
Are my dreams of custom ROMS over??
As I am really wanting a hybrid S5 ROM!
I'm so lost!
I back up with titanium. I don't understand why I would need CWM, TWRP or Philz?
Then, the wiping process, dalviks?
Then I know how to flash with Odin.
I would really appreciate if someone knows a comprehensive tutorial or just to be pointed in the direction of my
knowledge blackholes, I feel that I'm close to being full circle!
I really want the S5, Note 3/4 features but I can't afford the upgrade.
Any advice or comments will be appreciated
Indeed, based on your story you are a big noob (no offence). You tried to flash a 4.3 rom while you were already on 4.4.2. That's impossible.
So what do you want? A custom rom?
- Flash a custom recovery
- Flash the rom with the custom recovery
It's so easy.
And Gravitybox? You should read more. That's not for a TW based rom. It clearly states that in big letters.
Thanks
Thanks for stating the obvious Lenny.
I want a hybrid S5 Rom.
Do I just have to download the ROM then flash it?
I don't understand why I couldn't just re flash 4.3?
Thanks
Yes download and flash.
