Joanna from TIMN says at 1:30 of the video that the multitouch trackpad doesn't support pinch to zoom on it.
Is she lost? Or is that expected behaviour? Because on the NCIX video Linus does pinch to zoom on the trackpad at 8:30 in his video:
It's not 'pinch to zoom'-ing on my trackpad, but then I dont have the US/CN latest firmware. Not sure if it does for them or not yet either. I think it's something they are adding in the future, as the trackpad hardware definitely supports multi touch.
IIRC, one of the earlier firmware versions didn't support certain multitouch features properly. Since been fixed.
My TF dock hasn't supported pinch-to-zoom on any firmware, including the most recent. I don't believe it's intended to do so at this point.

Neither does mine, i wonder what magic trick they pulled in the ncix video
Well we know it supports two-finger scrolling, so why not pinch to zoom?

It might in the future, but as of now, with all the current software updates, it doesn't.
In the trackpad driver in kernel source that Asus posted on their website, there is a function named "HandleTwoFingerZoom", which seems to be trying to do something, but has large chunks commented out. So we may still see this in future updates; or, barring that, it's certain to be added eventually in custom ROMs.
Sorry to bump, but has the 3.1 update enabled pinch to zoom?
I'm still waiting on stock to get my Transformer. =[

I've been trying to find a way to contact Linus from NCIX. It's like this guy is off the grid.
I want to ask him how the hell his Transformer has MT on the Trackpad.

Users of CM9-based ROMs -- what are you using to replace the functionality of S Memo, etc?
Quill, LectureNotes, Sketchbook, etc.
There's plenty of alternatives.

Do they have as good of a brush and colour selection as Samsung's apps? And what about pressure sensitivity? Pressure sensitivity is GREAT for writing Kanji.
i am very interested in this topic as well , would be great if people who tried alternative apps indicate the pros/cons and compatibility with cm9
i would love to see palm reject in cm

What are you using that has the same pressure sensitivity, organizational abilities, cloud sync abilities, and intent support (i.e. exporting/importing to/from pictures, etc.) as S Memo?
I ask because I'd really like to give a CM9 ROM a try but need to know I'll have the pen support I've come to depend on.

I wasn't aware that S-Memo supported cloud sync, it's not a feature I have any interest in using.
Lecturenotes will upload to an Evernote account and will import existing images.
Just search on the market for "stylus" and see what pops up.
Jotter
Writepad
Quill
Skitch
LectureNotes
SketchBook Mobile
Samsung S-Memo (No idea if this version would work on CM9, it's not available to my country)
Omnisketch
If you heavily rely on the native Samsung apps though, then I'd not recommend switching to CM9.
Unfortunately some of the "stylus" search results are designed for "fake styluses" on tablets.
True. The ones I've listed are ones that work properly with the Note stylus. (Or did when I tried them anyway). They mostly support pressure sensitivy when it's useful for them to do so. Palm-detection is pretty hit & miss.
I think Skitch is about the only "generic" input app in the list.
I'm not aware of anything that replicates _all_ of the functionality that the native Samsung apps do (particularly the versions in the ICS release), but as I mainly just want to use the device instead of carting around a pen+paper to make quick notes, or draw (very poor) pictures when I'm idling, the alternatives work fine for me.

proabably the most used is freenote
After trying most of the list, my favourite is LectureNotes... It seems to have the best sketching features, reasonable import/export and pretty much suits my needs to the extent that I would choose it over s- memo
But that is just my opinion... Try a bunch out and see what works for you

Hi guys...
I dont know how many of you are annoyed with the way u ''multi task'' or bring ''recent apps'' in S3.. im certainly...
I feel ''pressing and Holding the home button'' for a while makes me think its a lllllllloooooooooooonnnnnnggggg time... so being lazy & impatient i came up with an idea....
:good: why cant Samsung or Someone could use the gesture "SWIPE UP FROM THE ""BOTTOM EDGE"" OF THE DISPLAY" to bring up the recent apps screen? Just like the way we bring down the notification bar from TOP EDGE of the display
Logically I want the device to look for the initial value of Y=0 on the screen to enable this gesture
We all know there is enough gap between the HOME BUTTON and the BOTTOM EDGE of the display?
Kindly say what do you think about this ? A request to Senior Members of the forum to make this idea reach the Samsung Engineers please.. Thank you
Can't be implemented until there is some hardware change.

When the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update hits soon, that gesture will activate Google Now.
hm.why dont implement it with gestures+siyah kernel (link)
but instead of swiping above the hardware button, swipe on the bottom of the screen to up.

I set that gesture on nova launcher prime. If I Swype up from the app drawer icon it opens recent apps so I don't have to press the home button to see recent apps!
Hope it helps!

He's looking for gestures on the small area between screen and the hardware home key. That's not possible because the screen doesn't have touch sensitivity there.

You will not need Samsung engineers for this. If it attracts any kernel developer here then that's all you need. Try gokhan or Franco.

Developers, I want your attention towards the multi window feature which is available in some high end Samsung phones.
It would be an achievement if our Samsung Galaxy S gets the multi window.
I saw the below given link in which this feature has been ported successfully to Galaxy Grand Quattro

I think a 4" screen is probably too small for multi window, maybe I'm wrong.

You mean someone has added it in a ROM?
That doesn't always mean it's a good idea lol
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
I have an S3 now (I had a Galaxy S before though), 4.8 inches of screen with Multiwindow. It may just be because I have big hands, but even on the S3, multiwindowing is barely comfortable. On the S, who knows how well that may work.
Also, that multiwindow needs Samsung JB 4.1.2.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk

Don't get me wrong though, it has its uses. Youtube surfing while Facebook/Messaging is pretty damn cool.

There is no point using it on a 4 inch device. I find using it on my s4 a bit hard at times. The S1 may not perform very well if this implementation is added to the phone.

But it is a cool feature that is much desired.
Whatsapp+MX player
xda+gallery
music+camera
maps+Internet
messaging+play store
tubemate+ uc browser
etc. and so on are the combinations which are welcome.
It would be a huge achievement for having this on our SGS rather than buying S4

Wrong. In omni ROM if you go to the recent apps list and hold your finger on an app it let's you put it into split view.
I tried whatsapp with MX player. Phone goes a bit laggy, and if you click in the whatsapp pane then the video pauses. Personally I'd prefer to watch my videos in nice fullscreen landscape and check my messages by pulling the notification shade down.
