Any chance we'll see a build of KitKat for Droid X? It's supposed to support lower-end phones, although I'm not sure if the DX even qualifies for that bottom rung given it's current age.
I read an article today that said KitKat was optimized to be able to run on devices with as little as 512mb ram, so I assume at some point in the future it could definitely run on the Droid X

With all due respect, thats a big leap. This device hasn't even had JB. I just got back online today/tonight since KK's source code release, so i'm playing catch up now, but as far as i know, CM hasn't put out a KK code yet, just Google. I could be wrong with the way I'm looking at this, so if i am, i apologize.

You have a point, I thought they released cm kitkat already... it doesn't seem like a big leap because the 4.0.4 was using only a couple custom files, everything else was cm. Of course I really don't know the challenge because this is my first build.
I forgot about the locked boot loader... no chance unless Motorola s "unlock your device" works.

We do have the bootstrap method of getting things to work. but it comes down to getting it built and booting up. I'm not at the CM10 attempt yet (working a CM9 build at the moment), but it is on my radar as far as trying to help out. i'm just taking it one step at a time with building from source.

Ive been looking for that ICS rom all day but links are outdated. Any idea where I may find it? I had this Droid X sitting in my closet after buying it bricked off a guy months ago and just last night I decided to resurrect it. (Couldn't when I first got it.)
I already have the modded bootstrap, root and even OC.

Do you know of a good(noob friendly) build guide for the DX anywhere? I am in the process of getting a build environment set up and my old DX is basically a spare device at this point. Once I get Ubuntu 13.10 fully set up and know how to build I would like to give 4.4 a try. I am using CM11 on my SGSIII and loving it. The Moto Defy has a working build so some of that stuff might be useful over here.

Hmm, I didn't even know there was still a cm site for the DX. I'll take a look over there later. Does it have all the source code needed to get a build started for the DX or do we need to find stuff in different places? The CM site has the basics on how to set up the build environment. yes, the page is directed at CM7 (the only thing they officially recognize as being supported by CM), but when you go to download the code, its going to be cm-11.0 instead of gb

Hrmm… within this “Motorola Droid 2” forum on this site the only two threads that come up for me when searching for “cyanogenmod” are this thread and this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=969895&highlight=cyanogenmod
I initially did a broader Google search where I found a bunch of old requests on various sites for Droid 2 support. All of those alluded to possible support in the future. This thread happened to be more recent so I was hoping to find a more definitive answer, but no dice.
If you have a specific thread you suggest we look at you might want to provide the URL, or provide a concise answer to the question, or just save yourself the energy of posting useless responses.

No the droid 2 will never get cynogen mod because the bootloader is locked with an RSA 1024 bit encryption.

I don't think there are too many kinks left. It's pending approval by the CyanongenMod team for official "forking" but I have to say build 13 is pretty stable as far as I've seen since I flashed it last night.
It is necessary to SBF back to 2.3.2? I would like to flash over Fission if it is not required.
I SBF'd but I don't think it's necessary. I was coming from Liberty 2.0 and only SBF'd for fun before going to CM7-D2. I read it's better to install with ROM manager but after flashing the recovery it never rebooted into it for me and I had to use Bootstrapper to install the ROM. Now ROM manager's recovery works fine inside CM7.
Now will this work for D2G or just D2?
Also, what is it like on battery life?

I'd like to know this too. My woman has a D2 with an OLD Gummy Jar rom on it. (2.1) with a Pink DL theme she's been running for months... This is obviously froyo - rooted.
Can I wipe and flash CM7 like I would anything else? Or does it have to be SBF'd first?
If you're on froyo then make sure you do a complete wipe (data, cache, and dalvik), nandroid and then flash away. Once you're on cm7 and flashing nightlies you'll only need to wipe dalvik between flashes.

Not yet. Very little is going on with our tablet. You CAN root it easily. I also installed Tegra Overclock app from market. Other than that...zilch. Its not like the last 7" VZW Tablet that we could have lots of ROMS for.
Yep, I think it may have been the price point combined with the contract element, that has kept the Devs from purchaseing one or being willing to play around with it. Maybe once there is stock restore firmware available, we will start seeing something. Sadly, by that time we will have ics and may not need a custom Rom at all.

Orion was on Droidrzr.com, but the dev has stopped supporting it so he could focus on Slim. You still might be able to DL it, but don't expect updates. The one you linked is good and gets updated, go ahead and use it. I might also suggest SlimBean and BeanStalk, but AOKP gave me the best battery. I just like the options in the others.

right.
the dev of the AOKP ROM you link (Tim) is excellent, and has done a tremendous amount of work for our community. however, the key difference between Orion AOKP and this AOKP is that the ORION version has some additional tweaks that improve battery life (in addition to aesthetics).
otherwise, you really cannot go wrong with either.
Would anyone have a link? I'd really love to A/B them. Plus I'm getting FC's with Tim's ROM after its finally installed following two previous failed attempts.

even if you manage to build a proper cm11 rom for atrix, there are still kernel issues to be solved. My personal advice is to work on kernel adjustments and tweaks (or whatsoever.)
Let me preface this by saying that I'm not a dev. However the problem as I see it is that you're working on a kernel for an older version of android. Why not just go around the problem and try to make it work with the newer version instead? I mean when it works fully it most likely won't work with KitKat right away anyway right?

I was wondering if someone could help me out real quick.
Because of the current bugs, No gapps, and missing features of the KitKat CM11 build, I was wondering if its still possible to find the latest CM9 build files still?
CM9 Just seems to be much closer to fully working version with no bugs then CM11 at this point. I am going to flash my old DX with the spider cracked screen this weekend with 11 to test it out.
But in the mean time i would like to flash my new DX (new refurb) i got few days ago with CM9.
So far i found alot of dead links and confusion about which version is official CM9. I found some modded versions but not really interested in them.
Unless you guys think CM11 is at a point where the current bugs arent that big of a deal. I would love some feedback/opinions on this.
Thank you in advance,

So i went ahead and flashed LiquidICS V2.1 and let me say, what a awesome rom, So far i have used MIUI Gingerbread
Now i have a small problem and i dont know who to ask.
I have 2 wall chargers and 2 USB chargers, when i try to plug the phone in, It will either not charge, until I wiggle the power cable. Does it on all 4 cables. Phone is a new factory refurb from amazon got is couple days ago.
If i take a PIN And try to move the black center piece back and forth it moves, and my other phone it does not, I have to push the charger up for it to charge.
And once the battery stops charging, I can wiggle/move it all i want, But it wont charge again till i fully remove and put the plug back in.
Any Ideas?
if it does that on both stock and custom roms, it is likely bad charging port, return it, if that is still an option.
if your not sure about stock, reflash firmware/sbf.
