Hrmm… within this “Motorola Droid 2” forum on this site the only two threads that come up for me when searching for “cyanogenmod” are this thread and this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=969895&highlight=cyanogenmod
I initially did a broader Google search where I found a bunch of old requests on various sites for Droid 2 support. All of those alluded to possible support in the future. This thread happened to be more recent so I was hoping to find a more definitive answer, but no dice.
If you have a specific thread you suggest we look at you might want to provide the URL, or provide a concise answer to the question, or just save yourself the energy of posting useless responses.

Damn you need to grow up.
No the droid 2 will never get cynogen mod because the bootloader is locked with an RSA 1024 bit encryption.
But if either you or the op had done some searching, you would have known this

never? Then how is dx getting it?

honestly, you can't necrobump a topic a respond with a retort to a comment made months ago, before cm4dx was even announced...
why not let cvpcs finish with the dx side of things before we start asking about d2, cause it will come...

Yep I'm using it on my Droid2 right now. Build 13 and it rocks

Is it that good already? I was planning on waiting a little whole for them to work the kinks out before I switch from liberty. I might have to check it out
Sent from my Galaxy Tab 10.1 using Tapatalk.

I don't think there are too many kinks left. It's pending approval by the CyanongenMod team for official "forking" but I have to say build 13 is pretty stable as far as I've seen since I flashed it last night.

It is necessary to SBF back to 2.3.2? I would like to flash over Fission if it is not required.

I SBF'd but I don't think it's necessary. I was coming from Liberty 2.0 and only SBF'd for fun before going to CM7-D2. I read it's better to install with ROM manager but after flashing the recovery it never rebooted into it for me and I had to use Bootstrapper to install the ROM. Now ROM manager's recovery works fine inside CM7.

Now will this work for D2G or just D2?
Also, what is it like on battery life?

Find builds here and/or rom manager premium

I'd like to know this too. My woman has a D2 with an OLD Gummy Jar rom on it. (2.1) with a Pink DL theme she's been running for months... This is obviously froyo - rooted.
Can I wipe and flash CM7 like I would anything else? Or does it have to be SBF'd first?

If you're on froyo then make sure you do a complete wipe (data, cache, and dalvik), nandroid and then flash away. Once you're on cm7 and flashing nightlies you'll only need to wipe dalvik between flashes.

Using rom manager and bootloader, I was able to get cm7 #25 and works great. If I update to build 29 will I loose my interface set up if I update? I like how it's setup and want to know before I update...

Just got an Atrix, but...

Hi, there, guys!
A friend of mine gave me yesterday an Atrix 4G. I would like to unlock its bootloader, root it and hopefully install the best available rom for it.
But the thing is that I can't find where to start from
There are a lot of threads regarding what I want (I've been reading through the forums for the last two hours) but I am still at a dead end..
My main problem is that most of the topics are about 2.3.4 android version or AT&T Atrix models. Plus, most of the links are dead...
The Atrix I have now is android version 2.2.2 and System Version writes: Version.4.4.20.MB860.Retail.en.GB
As I said I would like to test it with custom roms, but for starters, I would be glad if someone could point me to a way to simply upgrade to 2.3.4 (I don't care for now for unlocked bootloader or root - just want to see how it is in 2.3.4, perhaps perform a backup and afterwards try my luck with custom roms..)
For the record, I tried Motorola Software Update and reported that I am using the latest version..
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer
P.S.: Shame on me - wanted to post is Q&A forum.. Sorry for that - please move if necessary!!
Check out Swiftks guide that's a sticky in this forum.

Hello, and thanks for your help... I think I am getting somewhere...
I followed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1302423 to unlock my bootloader and then I followed Swiftks guide you pointed me at and downloaded CM7.
Now I am about to follow Swiftks CyaogenMod Install Guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19986512&post=234) and I hope I will succeed..
I will report the result - thanks a lot again!

Try the update first, go into settings, about phone and there you'll be able o get an OTA update.
Had already tried OTA - no joy..
Anyways, I've been using the Atrix since Friday and the thing is a real beast after everything I've installed.
I never close any apps - on purpose - I only "minimize" them pressing the home button. It always has around 500MB of free RAM. The thing is a speeding bullet..lol
I only wish it had a more "standard" screen resolution (some apps don't work full screen) and a better camera (it is good but not as good as the arc's)
Look into either 1080p camera on Olympus or for droid3 camera in the ATRIX forums that should give you the outstanding camera you are looking for and remember the ATRIX is VERY powerful and our devs are the best around B-) with their help and our hardware we can make the ATRIX just as good and usually better in any field compared to another phone >.<
Hit thanks if you found this useful

if you want good and fast rom you should try a Cm9 it's great almost stable ,and very quick . ( quicker than cm7 for sure ) i did not have any battery drying
go for CM9 and enjoy that ICS goodness =)
Which CM9 release are you referring to?
I have found:
[ROM] CM9 a multidevice collaboration by multiple devs
[ROM] Atrix CM9 [ADT's SelfKANGish builds]
[Kang] *Unofficial* CM9 and CM7 Kangs/ROMs
Is it any of these ?

I've ran the top 2 you referred to and both run great other than the known issues. My phone has better luck running the ATRIX cm9 [Ad's SelfKangish builds] not sure why but your experience may be different. Both roms are fantastic and are being updated frequently.

I'm running the first one and I am amazed how stable it is. Going on three days and I don't plan on going back to cm7. So far the only thing I'm not liking is wifi speeds are not what they should be.

okay, so I got a used fascinate...

and it was on 2.2.1 i believe, now I'm on 2.2.2 but want to go to GB. the only problem is I didn't make a backup of the stock and can't seem to find a reliable GB update zip online. Does anyone have any ideas on where I can find one?
You don't want to go to gingerbread man. We have some really awesome/stable ics builds and Samsung phones are super easy to flash a custom rom onto. I have aokp m5 running on my girlfriends s2 and she knows nothing about phones. She hasn't had a problem yet.

does glitched AOKP use the icyglitch kernel?
Yes, the Glitch kernel is already incorporated into the ROM.
While I'm here, may I suggest the DEVIOUS build of milestone 5 just a few posts down in the development forum. It is absolutely flawless, and I love the dark google apps. It is glitched AOKP, and it is beautiful.
The installation involves a few extra steps, but if you're comfortable with flashing, it's nothing.

VZW Galaxy Tab i815 Custom Rom?

Not yet. Very little is going on with our tablet. You CAN root it easily. I also installed Tegra Overclock app from market. Other than that...zilch. Its not like the last 7" VZW Tablet that we could have lots of ROMS for.
Yep, I think it may have been the price point combined with the contract element, that has kept the Devs from purchaseing one or being willing to play around with it. Maybe once there is stock restore firmware available, we will start seeing something. Sadly, by that time we will have ics and may not need a custom Rom at all.

KitKat for DX?

Any chance we'll see a build of KitKat for Droid X? It's supposed to support lower-end phones, although I'm not sure if the DX even qualifies for that bottom rung given it's current age.
I read an article today that said KitKat was optimized to be able to run on devices with as little as 512mb ram, so I assume at some point in the future it could definitely run on the Droid X

With all due respect, thats a big leap. This device hasn't even had JB. I just got back online today/tonight since KK's source code release, so i'm playing catch up now, but as far as i know, CM hasn't put out a KK code yet, just Google. I could be wrong with the way I'm looking at this, so if i am, i apologize.

You have a point, I thought they released cm kitkat already... it doesn't seem like a big leap because the 4.0.4 was using only a couple custom files, everything else was cm. Of course I really don't know the challenge because this is my first build.
I forgot about the locked boot loader... no chance unless Motorola s "unlock your device" works.

Do you know of a good(noob friendly) build guide for the DX anywhere? I am in the process of getting a build environment set up and my old DX is basically a spare device at this point. Once I get Ubuntu 13.10 fully set up and know how to build I would like to give 4.4 a try. I am using CM11 on my SGSIII and loving it. The Moto Defy has a working build so some of that stuff might be useful over here.

The CM Droid X website. I'm in the middle of attempting to dl the source code myself for kitkat, but i'm running into an issue (repo related on my laptop, not necessarily CM related). But yeah, if you want, i am more than willing to work with you to help get this thing up and running for the Droid X.

My build environment is all set up. I did a cm11 repo sync last night but haven't attempted a build yet. I might try for the nexus 7 first since that should be easier to start with.

I had a slow connection, but i got the source code downloaded this morning (finally after 2 days). i'll see what i can do tonight. i'll test out the build probably tomorrow, but any help would be greatly appreciated and i of course will help everyone else out on this project.

I am just curious. Are you installing rom via fastboot or recovery?
anyone have 4.4 working on atrix 4g?
Has anyone got 4.4 to boot on atrix i heard you need an updated cwm recovery so i have 6.0.4.7 recovery now so if any new info plz post. Willing to test if anyone has a build
Ok to reword my last post so no confusion. I am not asking for a finished shiny new rom to play with i am offering my device to test the things any dev has on atrix 4g regarding cm11 i also know from reading other posts that the older cwm recovery doesnt play well with cm11 i couldnt even get itvto flash 4.3.1 so had to update to 6.0.4.7 sorry getting off subject but as someone here posted they got it to install but no boot well would the recovery have anythingvto do with that. I want to learn alot more then i know but no pc right now when i do get one i will get more into this so i can contribute my knowledge as well. Thanks in advance to any response

I too am willing to offer my Atrix for testing. But will as soon as we have a stable 3.1.10 kernel.
To correct myself i have cwm 6.0.4.6 not 6.0.4.7 sorry for the mistake

even if you manage to build a proper cm11 rom for atrix, there are still kernel issues to be solved. My personal advice is to work on kernel adjustments and tweaks (or whatsoever.)
Let me preface this by saying that I'm not a dev. However the problem as I see it is that you're working on a kernel for an older version of android. Why not just go around the problem and try to make it work with the newer version instead? I mean when it works fully it most likely won't work with KitKat right away anyway right?
