In officially freaking out about getting 4.4!

Tap to pay works on my ATT moto x running 4.4 leak +ota with the wallet apk from a nexus 10. Just confirmed that it works at a local 7/11... It was beautiful man!
Thanks to user @dansskittles for the apk and making this known.
Moto X rocking 4.4
just read about this in the Ars review of 4.4 this is good news for everyone. I hope it finally gets some use now.

...an article I found on the 'net listing supposed "official leaked" information about the timeframe for us RHD/RHDMaxx users (and other Motorolas) getting the new 4.2.2 version of Android. LIke one of the comments states, it's interesting that there is a timeframe to update software that we haven't even received as an update yet
Also it talks about a Nexus Motorola... possible next phone purchase?
http://androidcommunity.com/rumor-m...-nexus-and-android-4-2-key-lime-pie-20121024/
2013?
You noticed that, eh?
Keep in mind that we haven't even received the 4.1 update yet, and if it's true about the RAZR X and the Motorola Nexus, our phones are already outdated, tech-development-wise. I was just happy that eventually it will be coming... eventually the key word...
Man I hope the moto nexus is true and unlocked!!!

Really - that is what I want. Razr Nexus. With LTE. On Verizon. With SD support.
Nexus won't be with sd support... Google want you to buy everything on the play store...

We are moving directly to 4.4. I dont like to discuss timing. It just puts a lot of stress on the team, and there is always a chance we find something which delays us a bit.
Rest assured, we are on it. You have seen the speed with which we are moving as a Google company, that shall continue.

I'm somewhat optimistic about it because they were relatively prompt in sending out an update for the camera. Not their fault that some of the carriers dragged ass.

They have broken the applications apart from the os and put them in the play store. Consistently updated their applications. Reached out to the developers in the community for suggestions. Have addressed a new concern of mine with the announcement of skipping 4.3. Saying that they haven't done anything is a bit of a stretch.

I went from an OG Droid (amazing, started my love for android), Droid 2 (meh), Droid 3 (meh), Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S4, now the Moto X. I kind of feel the way I did about the OG Droid with the Moto X. If Moto keeps pushing out quality phones like the X, with fairly timely updates, I'm going to stick with them. Hopefully Google and Motorola don't let us down
This is great news... May keep from buying a nexus 5....but I'm still gonna handle one just to see it and see how it performs and feels. I've been very pleased with my moto X though, more than I have with any other device.

Totally.
I'm sorry about that. I was reading the thread and my one year old got hold of my nexus and must have accidentally posted. My apologies.

i dont mind this at all.
i mean i don't get caught up in the version numbers per se, but the features.
i honestly am not really sure what is so different about 4.2 and even 4.1 other than it hink some stuff in the settings bar is slightly different. 4.3 added trim support natively but from the anandtech review i know moto backported that to their version of 4.2.2. so that doesnt matter either.
4.4 at least i figure is a big enough jump. before the moto x i was using a razr M on 4.1.2 and honestly i can barely tell the difference OS wise between any of these (and i had 4.3 on a nexus 7 for a while, honestly all the jelly bean labeled 4.1-4.3 variants are basically the same)

Well besides trim it also adds opengl 3.0 support, which every currently retailing Nexus device supports.

I'm not asking for an ETA, but does anyone know if developers are working on a KitKat ROM for the Verizon G2? I'm looking at the Moto X because 4.4 is already confirmed, but if the G2 gets a KitKat ROM, I might have to rethink my decision.

Lol. Yeah, I've counted a grand total of 1 ROM made for the (non Dev Edition) Verizon X.
Sent from my GT-N5110 using XDA Premium HD app
Development has been at a stand still since 4.4 was announced and thats a good thing, it means 4.4 roms are on the way for the G2. This always happens when there is a new version of android on the way and the fact that we have seen very little activity lately is a positive sign :good:

It was accidentally leaked by a French telecom that 4.4 would rollout Nov-Dec. LG denied it and it was removed from the telecom's upgrade list. Currently, LG is taking a stance that there is no date yet.

W-what? Before my dev edition?
Uhhhh... did all the nexus devices get 4.4 yet? If not well I guess that means the Moto X is getting update almost as fast as they are.

They technically all got the 4.4 update just most haven't gotten ota yet. The n4 forum is starting to boil lol

has anyone tried Moto Device Manager to see if they can pull this update?
While I'm not complaining, thats a little odd.

Motorola site says began pushing it out as nov 2013
What the? Verizon first? Come on tmobile..
I just switched to sprint for free and sold my us cellular moto x to pay the early termination, im now the proud owner of a moto x on sprint with unlimited data, I was paying so many overages with data as I use it to tether my surface pro. When sprint gets the update can I just unlock bootloader and flash su.zip since the sprint version is available for bootloader unlock?
wtf? Before the gsm unlocked and Dev editions. That too on useless Verizon. What's wrong with the world today?

There is no direct causative evidence pointing to the fact that the NDA was broken and if that was why the soak test was cancelled. However, yes, the soak seems to have been cancelled.
It is plausible that the test was cancelled so that they could begin the general rollout instead; which, if true, is actually a good move by Motorola. I don't see why anyone should be angry that the soak is cancelled in light of the news of the general rollout. Once we have our hands on the update file, we can ADB sideload and profit!

Wow. Some people really will complain about anything. The retail VZW version of the Moto X is the only one that can't be running 4.4 already; Every other one already has a ROM or images or whatever.
Here it is!

Downloading mine too!
This is mind-boggling.
1. It's Verizon
2. It's before several Nexus devices
3. It's before Dev editions
Well, Hope that means my AT&T will be getting it's update soon....
Check for updates, mine is downloading as we speak.. no im not in the soak or any of that
Edit: Download complete, and update is installing.
In case anyone missed it, Motorola's VP of product management Punit Soni replied to a question about getting android L for Moto X. He said "yup". Not much to go on, but exciting excited for the release of it now

Hopefully we will get it before Nexus just like we did with 4.4.
Nice!
I've been using the L preview on my N7, and really like the new layout, with a few minor quibbles. However, adaptive brightness is absolutely wonderful, and I am looking forward to being able to use that feature on my X.
I really don't know why anyone is worried about this. The MotoX will definitely receive Android L. It would be foolish for Motorola to abandon support for a year old device. We probably won't get it super fast, but I'm sure we'll get it within 2-3 months of Android-L coming out.

We can now hope that we receive android L as fast as the moto X originally received 4.4
