...an article I found on the 'net listing supposed "official leaked" information about the timeframe for us RHD/RHDMaxx users (and other Motorolas) getting the new 4.2.2 version of Android. LIke one of the comments states, it's interesting that there is a timeframe to update software that we haven't even received as an update yet
Also it talks about a Nexus Motorola... possible next phone purchase?
http://androidcommunity.com/rumor-m...-nexus-and-android-4-2-key-lime-pie-20121024/
2013?
You noticed that, eh?
Keep in mind that we haven't even received the 4.1 update yet, and if it's true about the RAZR X and the Motorola Nexus, our phones are already outdated, tech-development-wise. I was just happy that eventually it will be coming... eventually the key word...
Man I hope the moto nexus is true and unlocked!!!

Really - that is what I want. Razr Nexus. With LTE. On Verizon. With SD support.
Nexus won't be with sd support... Google want you to buy everything on the play store...

My mom has an upgrade available. She offered me her upgrade in exchange for my X2. So what's the best out there as far development and quality goes? The Bionic was my first thought but I'd like an unlocked bootloader and what not so I've been looking into HTC but I'm pretty clueless in the smart phone world still.
Thanks guys.

+1 for Galaxy Nexus
My friend has the TBolt and raves about it all the time.
I would definitely wait for galaxy nexus
Anybody know any approximate release date for the razr or nexus? I couldn't really find anything in my quick google search?
Sent from my Liberated X2!
The Razr pre-orders start today and Droid-Life had a shipping date posted. Not sure about the Nexus
definitely wait for galaxy nexus
I wouldn't go for the Bionic.. Multiple issues.. Supposed to be an update coming soon, but so far, Bionic=HUGE let down. I'd wait for something non motorola. I am wishing I'd waited for the Nexus
Appears everyone likes the Nexus. What is the cheapest you can get the Nexus for? Is it under $50? Is there any such thing as a good VZW smartphone for under $50? Thanks!
Nexus or htc razound but i don't know when they release it. But don't go with bionic . Good luck

After getting burned by moto I was wary of buying another device from them but I got a good deal and a 3year contact moving up to the atrix when it was new, only to get burned even more.
Basically I'll never buy another moto device again and I'm sure most other people here won't either but would you if it was a nexus. To reiterate no I wouldn't.

Re: Would you but a Motorola Nexus phone
Just as people are buying LG's Nexus phone (or trying because of small stock), I think people would buy a Motorola Nexus device as well as long as is good
Re: Would you but a Motorola Nexus phone
Hate to be that guy, but I can't take this seriously with a misspelling/typeo in the title of the thread. Please fix it.
I think many people even those who were busted with atrix would happily buy a moto nexus including myself.
Re: Would you but a Motorola Nexus phone
I agree, you don't buy a nexus phone for the manufacturer. You buy it because the support comes directly from Google. As much as I loathe Motorola right now, and wouldn't buy any other phone from them, a nexus device is a whole different ball game.

Re: Would you but a Motorola Nexus phone
NO.
Just because I've been fooled once doesn't mean I'll avoid using their products. I can never find better build quality. I know their software support sucks. But the hardware is really the best. I'm glad to see they still support Droid Bionic which is a 2011 phones. Still schedule to receive JB this year. Atrix HD even is being tested JB 4.2.
No and this should be a poll...
Re: Would you but a Motorola Nexus phone
Well, Motorola's hardware IMO are great, the problem is the lack of software support, so, if the next nexus is a motorola I would definitely buy it

Exactly. I am not unhappy with the Atrix, I am unhappy with the support.
If support is coming directly from Google, it would be perfect.
The Atrix is an absolute beast and it is a shame that Moto stopped supporting it.
If it is nexus you do not really need to care about the manufacturer...
it is going to be the first to receive updates official / unofficial and i guess running latest software is topmost priority most people on XDA
Re: Would you but a Motorola Nexus phone
Sheenick, would you buy a zte nexus?
Sent desde mi MB860
sure
I'd give it a whirl.love my matrix tho.it was the start of all things modification wise for me and I'll always have a sweet spot for it
Re: Would you but a Motorola Nexus phone
If Motorola made a Nexus and supported it like they did the Xoom, that would be great. The Xoom had vanilla Jelly Bean more than six months ago and it came out just before the Atrix.

They're creating the Motorola X, basically a Nexus without the Nexus branding.

I'm not sure Moto could pull off a true Nexus until they stop making Verizon such a priority (think of why the current Nexus has no LTE and recall the short-lived, but damaging Verizon GNex fiasco) . That being said, I would say the odds of me actually buying anything Moto again are next to none, unless they were to sell it at a substantial loss, only then I would consider it.
Re: Would you but a Motorola Nexus phone
It has to be better than samsung phones or at least with similar hardware and a lower price...

I would by one used a bit after they came out if reviews were good. 1st to get updates nice. Motorola repair center has been good to me. Out of 2 atrixes 1 was repaired under warranty and the other replaced twice under warranty. the fact the needed to be sent in on warranty goes against what I keep hearing about build quality. and I love my Samsung i717 running fully functional 4.1.2.
Older razr's are getting JB right now!

Well, to be fair: the soak test for the original Razr was way before the soak test of the Razr i retail.en.gb (soak test for og Razr was around Christmas 2012).

Also much less work as its ARM.
I'm hoping (probably in vain) that we also get an update to "Key Lime" since Motorola now belongs to Google. But let's face it. Since our wonderful phones don't have much development happening, x86 might just die as a smartphone architecture.
Sent from my XT890 using Tapatalk 2
Well, Intel announced a new dual-core x86 processor and a few new phones so I don't think it's going to die anytime soon...
I saw too the new processor. A dual-core that reaches 21400 points in benchmark... Very surpresely.
I think motorola won't update RAZR's to 4.2.1... It's just waste of time and work. They'll probably focus everything in Key Lime Pie and then completely forget the today RAZRs to new ones. Don't expect too much from them too. As the link says, maybe in the end of 2013.
Uhm, no. The Razr HD will get 4.2.x I was told so they won't forget about at least one Razr family member.

We are moving directly to 4.4. I dont like to discuss timing. It just puts a lot of stress on the team, and there is always a chance we find something which delays us a bit.
Rest assured, we are on it. You have seen the speed with which we are moving as a Google company, that shall continue.

I'm somewhat optimistic about it because they were relatively prompt in sending out an update for the camera. Not their fault that some of the carriers dragged ass.

They have broken the applications apart from the os and put them in the play store. Consistently updated their applications. Reached out to the developers in the community for suggestions. Have addressed a new concern of mine with the announcement of skipping 4.3. Saying that they haven't done anything is a bit of a stretch.

I went from an OG Droid (amazing, started my love for android), Droid 2 (meh), Droid 3 (meh), Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S4, now the Moto X. I kind of feel the way I did about the OG Droid with the Moto X. If Moto keeps pushing out quality phones like the X, with fairly timely updates, I'm going to stick with them. Hopefully Google and Motorola don't let us down
This is great news... May keep from buying a nexus 5....but I'm still gonna handle one just to see it and see how it performs and feels. I've been very pleased with my moto X though, more than I have with any other device.

i dont mind this at all.
i mean i don't get caught up in the version numbers per se, but the features.
i honestly am not really sure what is so different about 4.2 and even 4.1 other than it hink some stuff in the settings bar is slightly different. 4.3 added trim support natively but from the anandtech review i know moto backported that to their version of 4.2.2. so that doesnt matter either.
4.4 at least i figure is a big enough jump. before the moto x i was using a razr M on 4.1.2 and honestly i can barely tell the difference OS wise between any of these (and i had 4.3 on a nexus 7 for a while, honestly all the jelly bean labeled 4.1-4.3 variants are basically the same)

Well besides trim it also adds opengl 3.0 support, which every currently retailing Nexus device supports.

Hopefully we will get it before Nexus just like we did with 4.4.
Nice!
I've been using the L preview on my N7, and really like the new layout, with a few minor quibbles. However, adaptive brightness is absolutely wonderful, and I am looking forward to being able to use that feature on my X.
I really don't know why anyone is worried about this. The MotoX will definitely receive Android L. It would be foolish for Motorola to abandon support for a year old device. We probably won't get it super fast, but I'm sure we'll get it within 2-3 months of Android-L coming out.
