I know I've read about it several times here and there in between threads and of course in Hashcode's main thread here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1391900 But, I could have sworn there were two different versions of Safestrap one for Spyder which mentioned in the thread above or commonly referred to as the Droid Razr, Bionic, Droid 4, etc. Then there was another separate version of Safestrap that was designed for the Vanquish or Razr HD, which once Bootloader was unlocked Dev ended. The Razr HD shares many similarities with the Note 3 from an earlier standpoint, perhaps the Safestrap version is worth exploring?

What's really nice is the backup/restore to a ROM slot worked. HC is now cleaning up the hijack code.
Who knows, maybe we'll be able to get 4.4 sooner than we think if custom ROMs can actually be installed on this beast.
I'm loving the phone as is, but it's still nice to have that hope of getting the latest/greatest OS without having to wait for Samsung/Verizon's long process to modify/approve it :victory:
Looks LIKE BETA TESTING has began see Hashcode's posts> there is 1 BUG in the current state> http://rootzwiki.com/topic/105617-safestrap-for-the-n3-vzw-and-att-testing-started/?p=1500946 :good:

*UPDATE* Removed file for now. This appears to be a two part vulnerability. First part being a permissions issue on some custom roms. Second is total lack of securing credentials on Tapatalk's part.
i can confirm this!!!
Yeah ...this works
yea it works. shows all my log info.
Yeah... shows everything....

This thread is nearly 2 years old, so I doubt you'll get a response. Also, since xda has a working friendship with the TapaTalk team I don't think discussion of hacking their software is appropriate. With that in mind I'll close this thread so it stops now.

Hi, I've been on a volunteer project for 3 weeks and before that I had been keeping my phone stock (I was waiting for something I really liked to come out) I've unlocked my boot loader before but I flashed back to .83 and I got into the Moto beta program so I updated officially to the new .91
The problem is: I've been out of this for so long I literally have no clue how to install Alien (Build 4)
Can someone point me to the tutorials I need to follow (In order) to install Alien?\
I also think this could be useful for new Atrix users etc
Seriously?
Open your eyes and read! Or leave it...
OK, re-flash pudding like you were unlocking your bootloader again,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261
then install cmw using fastboot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
then install alien.
If you need more help then that, I would spend some time catching up, if you unlocked your bootloader before, not that much has changed since then.

You have nothing to contribute, and therefore nothing to say. Please act accordingly.
To the OP: CM7 has come out in a pre-beta form since you've been gone. I would try that and Alien both. See which one you like better...

Since the L720TVPUCOD1 Lollipop rom is out now what's the chance someone could port it to work on the OG Samsung Galaxy S4 (L720) sprint has pissed a lot of people off that own the L720 (Like myself) that they updated the spark version before the non spark version
Zero, OTAs can't be ported. Just be patient, newer phones get updated first every time.

I guess you didn't see this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2262381&page=15
OD1 was pulled. OD2 is coming out for both the 720 and 720T
RDFs just mean they are testing builds, nothing has been released.

I guess what I meant to say is if it would be possible to use the base of the spark ota ROM and modify, root, etc to make it work on the l720

Again no. The RDFs have started for the L720 as well so you have nothing to worry about, we should get it about the same time as them. Nothing has been released yet anyways. It will take a few weeks for it to get rooted, deodexed, etc.
OD1 for the 720T was initiially on Sprint's OS upgrade page but was pulled by Sprint even though source code for OD1 still remains on Samsungs Open Source Release Center website. At any rate, neither version is in site even though AT&T has had their 5.0 for 2 weeks now It's very sad when AT&Y beats out any other carrier with an OTA update.
HI all,
I'm looking to flash my phone with a newer ROM. I'm currently on one I installed quite a while ago. I'm now a bit confused on which ROMs I can and can't use.
My phone is MF9 according to what I've been able to locate in the about settings and phone info programs. I keep seeing stuff about OD2, but I'm not really sure what that means for me. Also, isn't there something about updating and it doing something to the boot loader?
Do I need to update to OD2 to use newer ROMs?
Will it lock my boot loader and what will that do to my ability to change ROMs later?
Lastly, and I know it's a matter of personal preference, what ROM would you recommend? I'm just looking for something stable. Though good battery life and fast would be nice too.
Thanks,
-Jeff
OD2 didn't lock my bootloader. The updated bootloader actually means you'll be free to use more recent custom ROMs.
As for ROM recommendation, usually it should be a no-brainer for me to give CM, but CM on this phone drains battery a bit too fast, so I'll hold back on that.

Thanks Andy,
So, if I do an Odin update to OD2, I should still be safe on my phone? That takes a load off my mind.
I did CM back on my Nexus S4G years before I got this phone. It wasn't bad. The battery life thing is a deal breaker though. Now that I know I can safely update without screwing things up too much I'll play around with a few. My main thing is to update my wife's phone so that she doesn't have problems. She always insists on matching phones so I can help her with stuff LOL
-Jeff
Only AT&T and Verizon lock bootloaders, you could try my ROM, Wicked X, in the Android Development section. Very stable and battery friendly.

Everything is working great, I am not seeing any issues at all.... but I am using Jasmine 6.1 which is based on OF1 lollipop 5.0. I had been running 4.4.2 when I unlocked the bootloader and then installed TWRP and then Jasmine6.1.
I was digging through my phone's status via the Phone INFO app and (not really surprised) that my bootloader was still NC4 and my modem was NK1 (I flashed the OF1 modem when I flashed lean kernel).
Like I said, all is working well... I tend to leave things alone if there're not broken..... SO.... Is there any reason I should update bootloader or modem?
Thanks in advance...
Don

I would advocate the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." approach.
Assuming you archive the various Odin stock releases so you'll have them in the future, you always have the option of rolling forward, but mostly won't have the option of rolling back.*
For earlier releases of firmware than what you are using (e.g. MJ7 and MJE) there seems to be an inability to boot stock kernels from later releases. And even non-stock kernels as well (I can't boot twrp-3.0.2-0-hltevzw-4.4 for instance, even though it doesn't have a "stock" heritage).
But I'm not sure this is a fundamental technical incompatibility or something that is merely sensitive to the kernel configuration options used during their builds.
It is a significant practical issue for folks on old firmware that might prevent them from using a "debloated" newer stock release, however. If folks who are willing to build kernels for us (I am trying OB6 and NK1 kernel builds with zero success at the moment) figure out what the technical issues are we might makes some progress here; if not the practical issues will remain.
But who is to say that something like this might or might not happen in the future to folks currently unlocked on "4.4" bootloaders? Keep those Odin stock bundles archived until you get rid of the phone!
* I realize there are some exceptions.
Yea... For now... That's my plan... Was just wondering if someone knew for sure one way or the other.
