Good evening...
I've had this problem for the past 5 days..i tried a new ROM but didn't like it so i went back to my original rom...but the phone after the recover stopped working..so i tried using the RSDlite to install another ICS to be able to start my device.,and after the installation was almost done,,RSD requested the phone to be restarted,,after that it completely died! nothing happens when i start the phone..no light..no screen light..just one thin..when i connect it to the charger or to my pc the white LED is on...but the screen stays black like its OFF..
I left the device on charger for TWO days..
I tried Vol UP + Power to get into the menu...
I took off the battery for ONE day,,,
NOTHING...just black screen with white charging led,,
when i connect it to my pc..there isn't even the notification sound that a new device is connected..
not even RSDlite is able to find the device...
Please help me...i've tried everything i know..some ppl might say recharge the batt,,as i said i left it on the charger for 2 days!
i don't know what to do next !

While phone is off do the following:
1. Press volume down button and power off button both together till you see Android Robot with (!) Exclamation mark;
2. Now release both keys and press volume keys (both up and down volume keys together);
3. This will show you Stock Recovery;
4. Now from volume down key select "wipe Data" and execute it with power key;
5. Now select Reboot.
This will probably resolve the issue. However, if the issue still persists then you need to use RSD lite to flash your phone with the some Froyo SBF.
For more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982
[Note: To enter bootloader menu so that RSD lite recognize your phone you need to have its USB drivers installed on your system and while booting you need to press Volume Up key and Power key together while phone is off to enter Bootloader menu to flash with SBF.]
Hope this helps!!

i have used the RSD before and i know how to install roms using it..also i know how to go to boot menu or recovery menu..but right now i am unable to do anything
Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10264115
Why?
Cause a damaged OS, cannot charge your battery. you must pull your battery out of defy and charge the battery externally.
Or you buy a new battery, or let charge your old battery by a cellphone-seller, or asks a friend of yours with a defy to charge your battery for you etc.
Have u checked the voltage of your battery, it must be 4,1 V if the battery is fully charged.
I think esok44 is right your battery is empty, there is not enough power in it to start your defy.
i just tried the usb modification to connect it to the battery directly,,done all the steps as told ... nothing!!!
i'm really getting frustrated cuz its been like this for the past one week,,i've tried everything
don't have any friends with defy phone...
can't think of anything else to do but to brake the phone
well if everything fails, give it to motorola...
if it really is broken and everything fails, then try it.
would be the last option for me, but at least it is one...
But as is said, had the same problem and in may case it worked...
i've read on xda about an usb-manipulation to flash sbf when battery is empty, maybe you could try this...
I'll add a link to it
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1489289
i have encountered this problem previously and the solution was replacing the battery, as RATTAR said the battery is not charged. try to charge your battery or try another charger, once it's charged rsd will recognize it. don't panic or despair.
Hi,
at the moment I am on holiday in Spain and my Defy [Green Lens CM9 Build 0613 (I think)] has broken, my battery died and i plugged it in to recharge but I got no LED, I know the charger works as it works for my mums phone and it has worked in the past for my Defy, i have plugged it in to macbook and got white LED after 1 minute but it doesn't charge, phone doesn't turn on either, my power button is really stiff (ebay purchase) and I cannot get it to turn on, do i need a battery ficx for CM9 if so, where to get it. Will I need to boot McGuyver to get into CWM and flash it? or is my Defy bricked? I'm only 13 so I don't really want to buy a new phone as I got it for my Birhtday only 4 months ago (my dad will be annoyed) so will anyone help, I'm an experienced 'computerer' and I could flash an SBF if I have to but that will be really annoying.
Thanks,
Will

Do you ever see anything on the screen? You won't have to flash any battery fixes or anything ever if you have a green lense
Nice to see some other youth on XDA

Thanks for the reply,
But I cannot get my phone to power on at all, I thought to flash SBF I had to get into the RSD mode (whatever its called) by holding up vol and power, but it doesn't turn on. Also if I can manage it, do you know what the best SBF to flash would be (green lens DEFY, originally from T-Mobile (soft unlocked))
Thanks
Will
Right, so I have got home from my Holiday and when I got in I plugged my phone in to the charger, it did not power on, but the LED flashed white constantly with 1-2 second delays between each flash . Does anyone know what this means, do you think my phone will be saveable, should I just plug it in to RSD lite and see if it detects it, not doing anything tomorrow so I can work on it all day to rescue it.
Cheers,
Will
Made a recap Here.
Hope it helps.
For an sbf, chose a deblur (less setup time to go to a custom rom).

HELP!!!!
I'm in the sa me situation . Anti news????
I had my defy look like a complete brick: Neither the screen nor LED would come on. The thing looked as bricked as it can. But I started it with power button + vol up, (no indication from the device what so ever that it came on). hooked it up to the computer and RSDlite was able to find it. then I was able to flash a different SBF.
hope it helps.
So, do you mean to ignore the blank screen???
bricked dyfy plus

It says "battery low, cannot program"...
I seriously need help as I cant afford to spend a penny on my phone...
Use the mcgyver hack. Search for it on Google.

Connected the u8800 to the pc overnight for charging, today the phone will not turn on.
Charging it just results in the red led flashing, tried removing the battery but that did not help.
Anyone else had this?

Sounds like broken battery... can you boot at pink screen? plug the phone to the PC without battery and try volume up + volume down + power.
ok, it starts without a battery.
Lucky for me i have 3 huawei 3g routers, two of them not even opened. They use the same battery as the phone, hb4f1.
The battery was completely dead, so going to ask for a new one.
Hi, i have the same problem i connect my phone into power and the red led blinks, except that that mine had get into see water...I try to get into pink screen but it is not responding. Also i have disassembly the phone and clean it from the water inside. Is there any fix? Will it be some component broken from the water?Any help will be appreciate.Thank you
Hiho,
go to the problem:
I changed the original rom to CyanogenMod (NIGHTLY EUROSKANK [21/12/12]). used one month, until one day I was playing, and the battery was low, so I left him there, went to sleep. I woke up, and he was discharged and placed in wall charger, and went to watch. some hours later, I tried to turn on, and nothing happened, I thought I plugged the charger in the wrong way, I put to charge again, and noticed that out instead of white LED appears, was the red led. Loading left for some hours, I turn on and nothing happened .. (@! #! @ # $) And then plugged in the USB, and lit the white LED, and could not access it.
I did the MacGyver method, to bootloader battery, and did SBF flash:
" JDGC_U6_2.12.0_SIGNED_USAJRDNPRCB1B50AA039.0R_JORDANGCCORE_P013_A033_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf ", was all right for some time, when I put it to charge and lit the red light again, and then pulled the plug, and he hung up. and is now well. and no more MacGyver mode solves the bootloader
Please help
Sorry for the horrible english, I'm using google translate.:silly:
And also the huge text (I would explain how it happened)
can someone help?

Hi,
Sorry but in case you don't know, when the phone is discharged (under 7 or 10%) and when we plug it, it's normal to have red led. But you must have the "battery charging animation" with percentage when it charges... When it's charged enough (above 7 or 10 %) you can turn on the phone (power button long press).
Your battery could be dead, yes... But :
How old is your battery ?
Have you checked your wall charger ?
Is your USB cable charges your battery ?
Is your battery charges well with your original SBF (without CM) ?
If you know someone else who owns a Defy, you could test with his battery and his wall charger....
Your USB connector could be damaged....
Need some more informations to help you....

the cell completed one year this month (January / 13). I know that when the led is red because it is very low on battery. But let Loading 4 hours +. and when I connect to the computer it does not charge. it only illuminates the white LED, and can not connect or power on. anyway, the exchange led to suppose that shows the usb part is okay. I've used various chargers.
I can not run the SBF, why he does not recognize.
The phone is not turning on. apparently only led.

Try another battery... Your system could be corrupted, I mean, it seems your phone can't charge in 0-7 % step, so it will never boot... Dunno why, it could be an issue even if I don't really think so... But, to save your phone it's the better thing you can do. Couldn't you borrow someone's Defy battery ? A friend ? A shop ? Then you could test !

Are you sure you can't do any of these two steps (3 or 4) of the "bricked defy Step by Step Walkthrough" thread ??
Even the 4th ?
[...
3.First shutdown your phone, hold the Vol down and boot the phone up keeping the volume down pressed. you should come up to a triangle android logo, press the vol up and down key and then tap the screen ( this is a touch screen gui), choose the wipe data/cache and press ok, this should take up to 5 minutes.
4. Now, shut down the phone (pull the battery out and return it back in), Hold the Vol Up button and power up your phone.
you will enter the Bootloader (or BL as its called in the forums) and you should see the phone stating that (usually 9.10 version)
...]
If not, even with a charged battery, I 'm afraid your defy has a hardware issue...
Is your power button still alive ?

Power it on, when connected to wall charger. sometimes starts, sometimes they're showing is charging (the battery symbol with percentage in the middle). but I just pull it off. ie power on it, just in wall charger.
if a hardware problem it would not mind at all. (I think)

2 days ago my N4 freezed, so I decided to reboot it. But after turning off it stoped showing any signs of work. No reaction on Turn on button and connecting it to the wall charger. If I connect the phone to the PC it appears in device manager as unknown qhusb_dload device. I found solution on YouTube, It says: hold Vol Down and Turn On buttons while phone connected to the wall charger and led should start blinking, but in my case It only blink once and nothing happens. Any help?
