ASUS Taichi 21 - For Sale - Please submit your offer - Windows 8 General

Hey guys,
I am a proud owner of an ASUS Taichi 21, love this little beast due to its Apple Air laptop design. very slim and elegant and has 2 screens on it which is why I originally got it.
I am forced to put this up for sale because I am in need of a 13 inch display which I will be most likely going with a Lenovo Yoga Pro 2.
It is the i7 version of this machine. Plus, it comes with the ASUS Taichi Suit case for it.

Ahhhhh and BTW a friend is offering me a cellphone Samsung Wave for $100 'cause she finds it to complex, shes not a technological person. i was reading about and its specifications are good, in fact better than our modest LG GT540 ehehe but it doesnt have Android OS but new bada Samsung's OS. So what do you think about it too, should i buy it?
Cheers,
Veronica
Asus epad transformer. Best out there.
OR
The NEW samsung galaxy 10.1 pad.
I wouldnt sugest the Xoom,Older Galaxys tabs, even the acer. They all score poorly on many things. Check out this comparison vid from Jon4lakers of the Transformer and the IPad 2 h**p://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3N9MmKy87s

[Q] Xoom 2 media edition

I want a premium tablet that weight less than 450 gr and is no bigger than 8.9 inch . Xoom 2 media edition has what i need .I am a bit afraid to buy it because i cant find any info on this tablet .Usually i am not an early adopter on products ...
Does the media edition has the digitizer to make active stylus work or not ? How is the the battery life on this tablet ?
No one seems to care about this tablet and every one wants transformer prime for its tegra 3 . Will the xda community support this tablet or Motorola will just sell few of them and xda developers will not care to built a custom rom ?
Do you have any suggestions for others tablets that will suits my needs ?

Key to development is whether it will have an unlockable bootloader and fastboot support. That remains to be seen.
>i cant find any info on this tablet
Xoom 2 aka XYBoard hasn't been officially announced. There's a rumor it will be released for Verizon, ie 4G-only. There's another rumor that pricing will be premium, like initial pricing for the OG Xoom. It's all rumors.
>No one seems to care about this tablet and every one wants transformer prime for its tegra 3
The Teg3 should perform better than the OMAP 4430. But the big buzz for the Prime is that it's the closest iPad2 competitor to date in terms of design polish. That, and because there isn't any other 2-gen Android tablets released for this year (Nook Tablet and Kindle Fire aside).
Dearth of new 2nd-gen toys is expected since ICS came too late for Xmas shopping. HC tabs didn't do well, so vendors are resigned to a spring launch with ICS, hopefully with better hardware (eg FullHD screens). Asus Prime is the single exception.
The bigger picture gets more complicated with Win8 beta coming Jan/Feb. Traditional PC vendors like Acer/Toshiba/Dell/Lenovo will probably concentrate their efforts on Win8 tabs, since that's a proven money-maker. Android tabs have all had disappointing sales thus far. Again, Asus has been the exception to its aggressive Android push.
Back to Moto. It doesn't really have a retail line for Android tabs. The Xoom Family is a half-hearted effort with neither the appeal nor pricing to catch consumer interest. Until the Googorola deal is done and Moto gets new marching orders, it's likely to stick to its present strategy of carrier channels and premium 4G tablets.
Probably more than what you asked. Anyway, suggest you look into the Samsung GT 8.9 or 7+.
I'm a happy Xoom 4G 32gB owner but see no reason to buy a Xoom 2. In fact, I pre-ordered the Asus Transformer Prime; if that wasn't available, I'd stick with the Xoom and not buy anything. My Xoom is fast enough for what I'm doing so just offering a faster processor in a different box isn't good enough.
My reasons for getting the TP over the Xoom2: better display, battery life, high quality build, "pressure-sensing" display for hand writing/notes, will charge through usb (when off) and faster.
My reasons for considering Xoom2 media edition :
PROS: I prefer smaller than 10.1 form factors . good ips display with higher pixel density ?, 8 hours battery life is enough for my need, good quality build with splash guard protection , active digitizer on display with motorola stylus for hand writing notes, will charge through normal usb cable , has IR blaster , cheaper .
Cons: In 3 months from know will be outdated tablet with slower gpu (i am not into tablet gaming but a good gpu is always something nice to have) . No sd card? in this pdf it say it has but all the videos i have seen say it don't Has no momentum and xda developers will not support the tablet as good as other tablet on the market .
Is the worst time to get a tablet and the choices in small factor category is very limited now . Samsung don't sell tab 7.0 plus in Europe so my only real choice for a premium tablet is this . Wish samsung had released 7.7 but i don't believe this tab will come to the market in the near future ...
The fact that its called the DROID Xyboard pretty much seals the deal that it will only be available on Verizon with 4G and will not be released with wifi only in the US, since the "DROID" brand is a trademark of Verizon
(Hence why the Droid Razr is only called "Razr" overseas)

I think that was a very cool summary! lol
Well done sir!
I'm considering the Xoom media edition as well, as I like the size/weight of an 8.2 inch display.
There are some Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus in Europe, I was playing with one in a Comet in London at the weekend, but it is priced at slightly above the Xoom 2 ME for a smaller screen and some lower specs.
There seems to be some confusion about what the pen can do on the Xoom 2 ME, yesterdays Engadget review of the Xoom 2 10" claimed that the pen was primarily designed for that and would not have full functionality on the Xoom 2 ME.

I sent an email and asking motorola about this and about sd card support and the answer that the gave to me ...
Thank you for contacting Motorola.
In response to your email, we would like to confirm that at this point the Xoom 2 Media Edition does not support SD card. Regarding the stylus it works with Xoom, Xoom 2 but not with Xoom 2 Media edition.
What motorola want to say At this point does not support sd card (will support it at the future - sd card slot that has is there but not work now ?) and how stylus works with Xoom and not xoom 2 ? Does the screen on xoom and xoom 2 has any sort of digitizer that make stylus work only with those tablets and not others tabs ? if stylus is just another active capacitive stylus i don't see any reasons why should not work with xoom 2 me .

Asus Slider PRIME

any chance that Asus will develop a Slider with the same specs as the Transformer Prime? i'd highly interested in picking one up if the did. i'm looking at getting a new laptop and will likely be in the 13" to 14.1" market...but a slider with some nice specs is a definite lure for me.
I was also wondering this as i have a slider but am very interested in a quad core slider i prefer the sliding mechanism over the idea as transformer, So i emailed asus usa as i thought they would be best to know but they couldnt really help me they said to call some number in usa but didnt do that im in holland.

[Q] Should I purchase the Nexus 7?

I am an extremely indecisive person and am having a hard time pulling the trigger on a tablet purchase before August. I am leaning towards ordering a Nexus 7, but just keep wondering if that is the best tablet for me. I am a college student that is looking for something lightweight and portable to take to class that will allow me to take notes easily and browse the internet when I am bored.
I can't decide between the Nexus 7, waiting to see what the Fire 2 has in store, the Galaxy Tab 2, a refurb Asus Transformer, HTC Flyer, refurb Xoom or pretty much any other tablet that has decent specs and a price tag around $250.
Somebody help me, please. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Go with what you do best - don't decide now.
Wait until some of your classmates bring one in, and try it out.
Electronic gadgets never have to be bought - today.
I would like to add on to this question as I am also a college student on the fence about buying the Nexus 7.
Are there any really good note taking apps for Android? Like anything similar to OneNote on Windows?
Also are there any stylus like accessories for the Nexus 7?
Same answer - the Nexus 7 is not being sold as a note taking device.
If I were you, I would wait for a fellow student to bring one in and try it for notes.
It might be great, or it might just be too small.
Stylus support is something else you would have to just try. The Nexus 7 is not made for stylus input, but that is not to say there might be a third party solution.
Taking notes on the onscreen keyboard may be - challenging.
Voice dictation seems to work great - but your fellow students might object.

Correct me if I am wrong there is an Android version of OneNote available. There's also EverNote which is a decent note taking application.
I'm not really planning on using the onscreen keyboard, I would mainly be hand writing my notes (since most of my classes deal with drawing diagrams and using formulas and stuff) but thanks for the info guys, I probably do just need to do a lot more research before I make a decision.
Well I planned on using a tablet keyboard with any tablet that I purchased - I just can't decide which tablet to purchase.
Does anyone know that if I purchased the Samsung Tab 2, how long (guesstimate) it would be before a jelly bean update was released for it?
If you plan on taking notes with a pen line stylus you will definitely need to wait for 3rd party android development. Just the mere act that the screen register your palm when you rest your hand on it to draw with a stylus is a bad sign. All these android tablets are really design for entertainment. For a $250 choice is very limited. The only alternative I see is the Microsoft surface, but that's going to cost you $500.
The quote (maybe second hand) that I had seen from Asus was that they did not intend to offer a keyboard dock, because the 7" form factor was too small.
Tread with care when you explore new uses for what admittedly is a very versatile tablet. Might work great - might not.
I did see that Asus was not coming out with a keyboard dock for the Nexus 7, but I planned on using some brand of bluetooth keyboard with it or any other brand of tablet that I ended up with.

[Q] Is it worth the buy ?

Hi, I am getting a gadget that I choose as a gift and since I already have a nice phone/laptop/desktop all other stuff. I am thinking about getting a tablet. I am gonna use it for reading PDF in classroom and taking notes so it needs to have a stylus, so I can get rid of bulky books and notepads. I am stuck between choosing note 10.1 and Nvidia Shield.
How futureproof is Note ?
Shield already has Android L update. Does Note also has it ? If not will it get it ? When ?
How reliable is the stylus ? will it cover the needs of an engineer ?
Would you recommend buying the Note ? Why ?
Thanks in advance

For your needs I would consider note 10.1 2014 here is why:
No manufactures have Spen as good as Samsung note, hand down and it's very reliable.
Highest Resolution for tablet - is top notch for reading
External SDcard support
3gb ram - the highest in all tablet devices
Note 10.1 will get Android L.
I just got a note 4 (newest Samsung phone) and I don't see any real advantage over the note 10.1 2014 except for a little bit more advance Spen (easier to share and use and added twice the sensitives but I don't see any advantage). So based on this the note 10.1 will be a keeper for 3-4 years or more, unless in the future there will be a new invented feature that you may want enough to switch.
well the tablet is now a year old, but the hardware still holds up. Samsung released several devices way after this with almost exactly the same specs. I'd say it has another year left of still being somewhat high-end but like all technology, newer stuff will be better. On the software front i'd expect a long wait for lollipop and then sammy will probably stop its updates there. The dev community is slow on this thing so i wouldn't get your hopes up for updates that way. Sure, it could happen but don't buy this tablet assuming it will happen.
Yes, I agree with all the comments. I'd say wait for a month or so as Samsung will release note 10.1 2015 edition. The pricing of the new edition should not be an issue considering the competition out there in the market.
Stylus - certainly the note for an Android. Surface Pro 3 is nice if you need more, but it is big and heavy. Note pro 12 is too big for easy 1-hand reading in my opinion too (I can just palm the 10.1). I like mine and will be keeping it at least another year as my primary reading/surfing device. I have not been quite as happy taking handwriting notes on it as I thought I would be.
