Hey I noticed when I get a text it only shows message received on the notification and I have to open it to see who sent it also I don't see a preview of the message. On my old phone s3 I'd see contact who sent it and it would give a preview is there a way to do this on note 3 or no ?
Try this, open sms app, touch menu key to go to settings, select the more tab, check the "preview message" box.

I've got a problem sending sms with my Jam:
I write the text... I tap on "send to" and I browse on my contacts... I select one of my contact's number an then I tap on send button.
It works fine and the text is sent!
Well... when I go to sms sent items I can see the text I sent but there is the N I use instead the contact's name!!!! grrrr.....
If I reply one received sms it works fine and I can see on my sent items the name of the sender....
Any idea?
i've also noticed some glitches with sms on the magician, but i dont use the send to function, i just type the first couple letters of the contacts name in the "to" area and the names with those first couple letters will come up, click on the one desired and click send.
I think the reason i'm having problems is cuz i have spb pocket plus which completely exits the messaging app, so i just minimize it instead of completely exiting it.
If you start typing the contacts name in the To: field it gives you the option to autocomplete using their mobile number and will then show their name against the message in sent items. But if you browse contacts it will just use the number against the message in sent items.
fone fanatic, once you send a message wait for the little bubble to pop up saying message sent before you close the application, otherwise it ends up sending the message twice.
I am using a SPRINT MOGUL CDMA
I get a POPUP "Text message is not SENT" which waits for me to close it "OK" when its sending a message larger than 160 chars. Until i close this popup it wont receive any other messages. And this is where I am stuck...

ANyone know of any registry area that can be tweaked pertaining to this issue

Just got my new note 3. One thing's bothering me though. When you receive a new text message, it just says on the notification that you received a message. Is there a way to change this so that it actually shows you the person who texted?

In the Message go to Settings >> More >> check the option "Preview Message"
Showing preview also shows up on the lock screen also

So when I get a text message by default on the lockscreen it will show a preview of the text message being sent and the name of the sender. If I go into the messaging app however and turn off previews it will then only state that I have a text message but will fail to say who it is from. and just says "new text message". What my question is if it is at all possible to how it show up who I got the text message from but hide what the contents of the message is? Like on the iPhone for example?
PS: I am rooted so if someone can point me towards an xposed module i will be more than happy to try it out.
Where is this option as I want to turn it on so it previews the sms on lockscreen. Thanks
Edit: found it. Had to click on notifications in sms settings to bring up more settings.

You can find it in Messages -> settings -> something like preview message

Thanks but I guess I was not too clear in what I meant so when you go through the settings and you decide to preview the message, it will show who sent it and also the contents of the message. What I am asking is if it as all possible to be able to get only the name of the person sending the message and not the contents of it?

Hello all,
I have just upgraded my note 3 to lollipop and have an issue with sms pop ups on lock screen.
I get a pop up but it says New Message rather then who it is from and then has Message hidden.
When I go to Message settings I have preview message ticked.
Just wondering how I can get name of who message is from to display and then have a preview also?
