hello, im newbie.
i'm using CM 10.1.3-mako stable. Android version is 4.2.2. i try franco kernel on stock rom and i like it.
So how can i install it on CM, which version i choose?
(i want it for battery life, if there is a better kernel for battery life for CM 10.1.3, please say)
Thanks.
First questions go in the question section.
Also if you went to the franco kernel thread you would find your answer

Before making any threads first please READ THE RULES. :good:
This general section and you should post your questions in Q&A section.
Yes you can directly flash the kernel on CM10.1.3 rom.
Goto franco's thread in Original dev section and download the 4.2.2 based kernel and flash it.
Moderators please move this thread. :good:
Press thanks if I helped you.:good:
CM has changed the way the ROM uses the kernel. 10-1-2013 is the last date you can use Franco's kernel anymore.
That link should provide more info.
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/80060-custom-kernels-issue/
OP is talking about cm10.1.3-- 4.2.2.
If you want Franco, you flash the same one you flashed on stock rom... r165 is the last 4.2 compatible kernel. It's right in the first post of the thread.
Thank you for all.

After downgrading back go gingerbread stock safe from overcome, I put CM9, gapps, and overcome kernel in root, as per directions.
I then went into recovery and installed CM9, however I can not see overcome kernel in there anywhere. Why is that so?

overcome kernel? are you installing cm9 or overcome? cm9 its ics, overcome is gb, why you looking for overcome kernel?? there is cm9 kernel for cm9 rom, it's totally different!!!
You read the instruction incorrectly.
After stock safe you must use odin to flash overcome kernel.
That will convert your partition to ext4 and give you cwm recovery.
Boot to recovery and flash cm9 rom then latest cm9 kernel, then gapps.
Btw: this should not be a new thread in dev section.
Mod, please move it. Thanks.

Hello everyone, I would like to know if the new 2ndboot builds can be used with the stock kernel by just selecting "2ndinit" from the bootmenu. why would I want something like this? because there are new fixes in those builds but I don't want to use a custom kernel yet, I would feel safer when it's more tested.
(Btw I own a Defy+)
PS: Oh, if this was mentioned in somewhere else in the forum, I apologize for this post, but I did the search and didn't find anything that concretely answers this question.
Thanks .

No you can't use together.
You use 2nd init or you use 2nd boot.

The only detrimental effect with new builds is battery drain. It can be solved by not using zram, swap and ksm ...which in a way gives u almost the same effect of the ****ty stock kernel.

If I flash this rom on my SGH-M919, will my TWRP still work or do I need to flash GT-I9505 version of it? Just planning ahead and trying to avoid a brick over a 10mb file, .

Hi There,
I tried flashing this ROM onto my phone, but every time I flash, i keep getting errors with my SD card.
It says, SD card safe to remove. When i try and mount the card in settings, it just does the same again.
I reflashed an old rom back on and it works fine.
Any ideas would be appreciated!
Thanks

Hi, I have installed the latest Wanam Rom and Adam Kernel and think its awesome, but it would seen that the Adam Kernel does not support fast charge switching? As a result I have had to swap the Adam kernel for the Ktoonsez one that does support fast charge switching.
Will Adam Kernel have Fast charge support added as this is a big issue on the S4, given it drains the battery faster than you can charge it with anything less than 1000mA charge. The issue is most noticeable with the Samsung MHL adapter that reduces the input charge to 300mA regardless of how many mA you put into it!

Most likely no, as Wanam wants to keep the kernel as close to stock as possible plus he stopped developing the kernel for i9505 until further notice. I would suggest ausdim kernel as it is on par with Adam kernel when it comes to performance only difference is that ausdim has added fast charge and some other stuff like UV and CPU/GPU overclock. Other than that the kernel is close to stock as it could be, well GE stock kernel that is.
please check the download link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2281738 ,I can not find out any files there, thank you for you kernel, I like it very much
Hi =)
I just falshed WanamLite 1.4 on my GT-i9505 yesterday and i'm very happy with it! :victory:
But I wonder if I can use Triangle Away with it without bricking my device. I know that triangle away works with stock kernel, but since the adam kernel is as close to a stock kernel as possible, shouldn't it work anyway? Did someone test this already?

i don't think triangle away works with any s4 devices as of now (or i could be wrong )
Such a pity that wanam has stopped making this kernel. It really is good and i find it strange he stopped making this kernel because 2 people had problems with it.
I have a doubt. Adam kernel says that works only for europe devices.. so if im from chile i cant flash it?
Why does he stopped supporting deodexed roms? what wrong with deodexed?
That's been asked & answered in the WanamLite dev thread.

Hi guys.
I'm in a great dilemma right now.
I like TW but almost all custom kernels are giving me reboots every now and then. :/
Right now I'm using Adam Kernel which doesn't reboot on me, but I need more, like voltage control etc.
So I'm considering either using an AOSP or Google Edition ROM.
Because there are TONS of ROM's out there I'll need your help.
I'm looking for a ROM which:
A) Is completely stable and has little to no bugs.
B) Is not lagging on games, because I game a lot on my S4.
If I'm gonna use a custom kernel I'll definitely need another ROM.
Also I don't care if it's 4.2.2 or 4.3, as long as it's stable and get the job done right.
Anyway, can you suggest some ROM's based on my needs?
Thanks!
Anyone?
Come on, just post the name of the ROM if you're bored!

Best Kernel/Rom threads are forbidden on XDA , this will get closed soon.
And if you can't handle any kernel without reboots except for Adam Kernel (which is pretty much stock) then that tells me your cpu cant handle undervolting mate
Omega if you want a stable TW experience with some customization, MIUI if you want a completly new and awesome experience but can tolerate some issues popping up.
I run MIUI atm

First of all, this isn't a "best rom" thread, this is a thread for suggesting a good rom based on my needs.
Also I've had reboots without undervolting so your argument is a bit invalid I'm afraid.
Anyway, If you're not going to help I'd suggest you stop spamming the thread because I'm aware of the xda rules.
Thanks.
Echoe or WanamLite.
Have tried a quite a few roms atm using echo rom and ausdim v11 kernal. Stable fast and great battery life. GE roms are great. I recommend reading through the threads and choosing the first thing that grabs your eye. Enjoy

Guys, thanks for the help but I'm on Omega and don't want to switch to another TW rom.
I'm looking only for AOSP/AOKP/GE ROM's.
Thanks!

As you guys may know, I recently downloaded the latest matriz mod by mathkid...do you think I need a ROM installed to use at its full potential? If so, which ROM should I install and do I have to re-install the kernel?
1. U don't have to flash another ROM if you are on stock ROM or another AOSP ROM
2. Feel free to flash any ROM u want all AOSP based Ron's should work with this kernel.
3. If u flash another ROM u have to flash the kernel again because the stock kernel of the ROM will be flashed as well.
BTW. Post this kind of questions into the Q&A forum for the N4.

So I'm on Stock ROM right now. I don't need to redo the installation process and just flash it at will? Didn't know you can flash multiple roms too...
what roms do you guys recommend with the most with matr1x kernel?

matrix is not a rom, it is a kernel. all roms include kernels, or your phone would never work. all you do is flash matrix over what you have now, and itll replace your current kernel with matrix. that is all, do not over think it, do not make it more complicated then it actually is. and no, no one can tell you what rom to run, it is only your personal choice and no one elses. there are roms in the development section, read their threads, then you decide.

I know matrix is a kernel, I'm saying which one would be the most appropriate to go with it. One more question: Whenever there's an android update and I have flashed a Rom and Kernel, do I have to redo the flashing process again? ex. Android 4.4.4
