Is there a way to get Voice+ to work on CM10.2 with the grouper? I don't see a messaging app and wanted the tablet to act like a phone for texting integration with Voice+ (Google Voice). Last resort I suppose I could just use the Google Voice app, but really liked the messaging apps. This device won't be paired with a phone, so MightyText isn't an option.

With how well the Google services are integrated into Android, I'm surprised Google or someone else hasn't developed a messenger app like the Pre. I mean, it just makes sense. SMS and IMs all in one thread! After Palm showed this off I thought Google would be scrambling to make there own version.
Palm Pre Messaging
Hello,
i know this thread is, welll....pretty dormant BUT its exactly the thing i was looking for all over the web. I was using a PalmPre (frankenpre with webOS 2.0) until i recently changed to a Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 and i dearly miss a unified messenger. With a Plug-In i could activate many different protocols. Is there a Rom out there? an APK? a sms app combined with the messenger? a contacts app that integrates messaging ? Didnt really think any Dev of this? messaging app for SMS/MMS/IM and IM contact integrated into that?
I have installed Gosms, if I remove messanging app I receive messages normally?
the same is true for email app?

You are probably better off just setting the default messaging app to be GoSMS, then hiding the native messaging app with your launcher. I found that removing some unwanted apps such as GTalk caused problems with others (mainly google ones)
I have Handcent and the CyanogenMod messaging apps and the both receive the same data and handle the same data, I only use handcent because the (quite older) ROM that I am using uses an old CM Messaging app which doesnt allow me to select from contacts.
If you do decide to remove the .apk's or .odex's be sure to back them up first before deleting them in /system!
Good Luck!
The answer is yes.
So, I cant reply to a Google Voice text message, I cant even see individual messages when there is more then one.
Whats up Google, GV is a Google App, where is the integration for google apps?
What about Google authenticator? this would be a prime app on the wrist.
Other google apps?

I got a GS5 yesterday, and I love it! But I have one issue. I'm not a fan of the stock messaging app. I tried Evolve, Chomp, Handcent, Go SMS, and Hello SMS. My issue with every single one of these apps is that my Facebook contacts do not show in them. I've gone through all the settings I could think of and couldn't find a solution for this. My 10 google contacts show in there, but almost ALL of my phone numbers come from Facebook. I'm new to Android, so if this is a simple fix, I'm sorry. My facebook contacts work just fine in the stock messaging app, and show up in my phonebook, but not in any third party apps. Halp!

A simple Google search suggests that it's a Facebook issue. Facebook allows your phone or a site like sync.me to access your FB contact info. But doesn't allow any third party apps to do so.
The Handcent FAQ explains a workaround to sync your FB stuff with their app -

.
Default "Messages" app - Does anyone know who the 'publisher' of this app is?
Is this Samsung's, is it Google's app?
I am trying to find some information about it: I changed messaging app because basically the default Messages app sucks, but the other one I am using (Textra) is having issues sending alerts to my hybrid watch (it did not have any issue in the old phone, not a Samsung).
Long story short: I am doing tests with both apps but I can't seem to be able to fully sync Messages or even import from a backup and I am missing texts.
Thanks.
It's probably Samsung taking the default Android message app and modifying it to work with One UI.
The messaging app that comes with the phone by default is Samsung's. I prefer the Google messaging app and have been using that instead.

I'm not sure about the icons because I'm not using the stock icon pack. Google Messages doesn't come pre-installed on Samsung phones--it has to be downloaded from the Play Store and it can be uninstalled in Settings--Samsung Messenger can't be uninstalled because it's a system app. The UI's are also different. Samsung Messenger has the same look as Samsung's Contacts App.

OK, I think that's what I have (transferred from the old phone). Samsung Messenger - if it's indeed Samsung Messenger - sucks big time. Not sure what went trough their head when they "designed" it. No way to reset it or re-sync messages. The idiotic "no subject" on all group/MMS messages and on top of that, every time you open a group message it pops up a notification that all group messages will be sent as MMS. Each and every time. Unreal.
BTW - the Google Messenger isn't great either. I used to use Textra but apparently it doesn't like my Fossil hybrid watch so it doesn't send me notifications (it did in the old phone...).
Thanks.
