I've got a question concerning dialing a business via Google Maps. On Windows Mobile when you dial a google maps location the contact name on your phone will be the google listing, however this doesn't appear to be the case with Android. I figured this would be standard functionality with all of the Google integration. Does this exist on any Android phones or possibly in Froyo? I really liked this feature on my old phone as I could reference my call log to call business back.
Anyone know of a way to get my own contact avatar to show in apps such as messaging and talk,i am on stock froyo, 2.2
Add yourself as a contact with your phone number and email for google talk and attach a pic to it. That is what I did for mine if I remember correctly.
Yup, that works. But for GTalk, I belive you have to do it online with the Gtalk application or in your Google Settings in the browser.
I made the Horrible mistake to erase and force stop, Google Services Framework and now, email, Facebook, Google Play, Gmail and others doesnt push the notifications. Sometimes email, Gmail and Google Play work but not always and Facebook doesnt push anymore. I know i made a retard decision about Google SF but know i dont know what to do.
I have Android 4.3
Google dev warned about doing this, try logging out of your google account and back in.
I'm not using Gmail anymore, and I'm wondering what happens if I just delete my Google account in Settings/Account. Would I still be able to use the Playstore, for example, so I could just download the Google apps I want?
Welcome
This has been my experience - without a google account, none of the apps that require Google Play Services will function correctly or may fail to sync. Play store, play music, hangouts, keep, gmail, calendar, contacts, wallet, drive etc. The phone should function fine otherwise. Some people prefer to use their phone without a google account and are willing to give up the convenience of their services.

i have been thinking about this too, with kitkat it was easy to disable location service which helps with battery life, and now it seems like google is accessing my info more often, . the only google service i use it its maps, contacts and calendar but from that thread above you there is a homebrew alternative.
just use k9mail for gmails.
Cutting the Google Cord?

Doesn't that defeat the purpose? Are there any good alternatives for email service? Not a fan of Yahoo, Live/Hotmail, AOL, what else is there?
Note that currently Google Apps / GSuite / Google for work accounts cannot use Google Assistant.
This is same issue as using those accounts with Google Assistant in Allo as well as creating Play Music family plans.
I don't know if that will be changed when/after the pixel is released, but for now if you have one of these accounts you can't even use the neatest new feature on the phone...

How so? I have a gapps account, and have had no issues using google assistant in allo.
That's funny... No one else can. There are massive threads on Google's forums about it, and it was confirmed by the product teams...

I see. Actually they can run assistant, but it has no access to personal information. I.e. "what's on my agenda today" will fail.
That's a shame. I may have to set up a regular Google account for everything that isn't email related just to get this to work properly.
Thank you for clarifying. Yes, I mean (but didn't say) that Google Assistant can't access email, calendar, etc on GSuite accounts. It still works fine for Google searches.
I should have been more clear in my wording!!
I have a regular Gmail account, too. Hadnto do that to setup a family play music account (annoying)... I'll wait and see if it is worth forwarding my email to there it not.
