I made the Horrible mistake to erase and force stop, Google Services Framework and now, email, Facebook, Google Play, Gmail and others doesnt push the notifications. Sometimes email, Gmail and Google Play work but not always and Facebook doesnt push anymore. I know i made a retard decision about Google SF but know i dont know what to do.
I have Android 4.3
Google dev warned about doing this, try logging out of your google account and back in.

Just got an X8 and all is going well, but I prefer the Sony Ericsson e-mail app to the stock GMail one.
Obviously I need the Google Account to stay there for the Android Market and such, but is there any way I can just "turn off" the GMail part?
Thanks!
Not sure "how much" you want to turn it off. However, the road of least resistance is probably just turning off notifications from gmail app. Works for me. Think removing the app entirely will somehow mess with your Market... if my memory serves me.
i found out the hard way not to remove any google-related apps. if u've got titanium backup try freezing the app and see if it affects anything. if everything works fine then u should be able to remove it.
but i think apart from gmail and talk the rest should be safe to remove...
/edit: i just realised i have gmail and talk frozen, but do not touch "google services framework" if u have that. or "google talk service". apparently those will mess up ur market big time if u remove them
Go to, settings then accounts and sync then press on the account you want to remove and you'll see a button at the bottom of the screen to remove your account. This will keep all of the google apps.
I've decided to just turn off notifications... Seems there's no way to turn off one Google app without turning off the rest.
Thanks!
its fine to remove your gmail apk... i did that,, wat u need to keep from google is your google talk [remove this.. your market with FC], and google apps[hidden on system-uremove this.. all related to google will FC],, thats wat u should keep on our shakira,, make backup before u do that,,
how do I get rid of an account that is synced on google so that I can change the google talk to a different account. I have both accounts on the gmail and it works fine but it crashes whenever I go to account settings which is where I think the solution might lie if I could just open it. I tried to uninstall google talk but it failed, otherwise I would have deleted it and reinstalled it. Is there an easy fix for this. Right now I am getting one directional conversations from people talking to my partner, its very frusterating. thanks so much for the help yall.. one day I might just ask a worthy question.
Mine had been, and it was driving me nuts. The app would load just fine but the second I touched a conversation it would force close. Every time. I could hit menu and go to settings but that was about it. I would see it load all my contacts and their pics on the right sidebar.
I had tried uninstalling hangouts and reinstalling, no fix.
Signing out of google, clearing cache and data on google play services and on hangouts, then signing back in to google. No fix.
I short, I tried all the different fixes for broken apps we have all known for ages now, all to no avail.
I tried hangouts on my wife's nexus with my gmail account - it force closed. Tried her account information on my GS4 hangouts, it worked just fine... something else was going on.
Turns out, if you have old archived chats, especially group chats, the hangouts app cannot pull them or handle the data somehow, and will force it to force close.
TO FIX IT -
Sign in to hangouts on PC and clear out everything. All old chats, group chats, archives.
I had never used hangouts on PC before... Not sure I had even archived any chats on purpose.
The app started working immediately and I did not have to restart my phone.
I found the answer to my problem here http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/hangouts/LByoWgqYOtM
I was a gmail beta tester as well - I don't know if this is a determining factor or not, I just thought I would share the information if anyone else is having a similar problem they can have an easy fix.
I'm not using Gmail anymore, and I'm wondering what happens if I just delete my Google account in Settings/Account. Would I still be able to use the Playstore, for example, so I could just download the Google apps I want?
Welcome
This has been my experience - without a google account, none of the apps that require Google Play Services will function correctly or may fail to sync. Play store, play music, hangouts, keep, gmail, calendar, contacts, wallet, drive etc. The phone should function fine otherwise. Some people prefer to use their phone without a google account and are willing to give up the convenience of their services.

i have been thinking about this too, with kitkat it was easy to disable location service which helps with battery life, and now it seems like google is accessing my info more often, . the only google service i use it its maps, contacts and calendar but from that thread above you there is a homebrew alternative.
just use k9mail for gmails.
Cutting the Google Cord?

Doesn't that defeat the purpose? Are there any good alternatives for email service? Not a fan of Yahoo, Live/Hotmail, AOL, what else is there?
I've got an odd issue. I'm running CM 10.2, and I'm having problems with GCM (Google Cloud Messaging, aka: Push Notifications).
If I clear data for "Google Play services" and "Google Services Framework", remove my Google account, reboot, then re-add the Google account, I can get GCM working again just fine.
The problem is that this functionality doesn't survive a reboot. As soon as I reboot my phone, GCM doesn't work any more and I have to do the whole thing again.
I can go into the Play store, as well as Gmail. But GCM and any apps that depend on it don't work.
This has been driving me nuts, and I'm really hoping that someone has some insight on how to fix this problem.
