Here's an App from the Play Store that gives you a notification when you plug your charger in.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.oderik.plugsound
There is an audio file in system/media/audio named Charger_Connection.ogg... but I don't see anywhere in settings on how to enable that sound...
anybody found anything?
I really want this too. The files are there but they just don't work. Does anyone know how to get this working?
No solution for this, right guys? Has to be a value in the Storage DB....
I would love to have a wireless charging sound
Found this App to help with the charging sound. Just copied Charger_Connection.ogg to my Notifications folder and now I hear the sound. There is a slight delay from when the phone is plugged in and when the sound actually plays. Better than nothing I guess.

Thanks so much for this app! It's exactly what I have been looking for! Why did you move the charger _ connection. Ogg file instead of just using the app? Where did you even find the file? Thanks again
The app uses whatever files you have in the Notifications folder, your stock notification sounds, so the stock charging sound wouldn't be included. The file is located in System/Media/Audio/UI. You do need a Root File Explorer App to get to it.

Or just download AUTOMATEIT and enjoy the meaning of having Android.

Plug Sound is Free and Ad-Free. Plug Sound is very minimal as well, a few hundred kilobytes. AutomateIt has ads and pop ups and the pro version costs money. You're better off downloading Plug Sound if all you need is a sound when you plug your charger in.

Automateit has no pop ups or ads even though it says so in Play Store.
Point being, it got what TS want + tons of more helpful stuff

I have a program called Llama, and I was able to create a voice notification that tells me when my phone is plugged in and charging. I then continued to have a voice notify me when my battery has reached 100% charge, 50% charge, and critical at 10%. Check out Llama, and view videos on YouTube for tutorials.

Anyone get the 3.5mm plug to work on the car dock / desk cradle after flashing DL30?
I thought the requirement was 2.2, but can't seem to get it to work.
It works
on both the car dock app and music app there is a phone icon. Click it. It will change the output from the phone to the dock.

It would be nice to have a toogle widget so that it wouldn't app dependent.

I can't find the icon. Does out only appear when the phone its in the dock? Can you use programs other than Music Player (such as Pandora, Listen, etc.)?
When you place the phone in the dock and the app launches (car dock or desk dock) select the icon. I would imagine once you have done this you can run another app (like pandora) and it should work

That's correct. Once you select the icon in the car dock app, just go back to your home by hitting the back button and launch any other app and it should play through the dock. I confirmed with Pandora and SlingPlayer.
You wont see the icon on the car dock or music player unless it is actually docked.
Hope this helps.
I get the steering wheel icon in the notification bar but the app didn't launch. Does it show on the car dock app?
Edit: I was a delta alpha. I located said button in the car stock program. I was confused because the dock didn't automatically pop up like it did in previous versions. I had to start it while in the dock. My only complaint now is that I have to manually switch it every time.

Has anyone else noticed that the sound quality is severely degraded when running through the dock instead of a direct connection to the 3.5mm jack?
I mean I'm talking absolutely terrible audio quality. Am I the only one? Try connecting a decent pair of headphones directly to the phone and then to the dock, the difference will be very, very apparent.
Try turning down your media volume on the phone while in the dock and using an external amp to control the volume. This sort of thing happens when my internal Sirius radio volume is turned up to full and then run into into the car stero.
It worked fine...sound a bit degraded though, but never the less, it works. Now byebye carrying ipod around.

My Dock has a lot of static, even when I have no sound playing. When I remove the power, the static goes away until I plug the power back in. I have tried a USB cable and the same static happens. When I have the same speaker setup plugged into the headphone on the phone, no static. Does anyone else have this issue?
Yea, noticed that too. I thought it was my cable.

I have noticed this even without the dock, mine I believe is a whine related to the charging, as it always stopped if I removed the charger while connected to radio. Only way I found to reduce it was to set the phone volume to about 13 or so, so I wouldn't have to run the car stereo quite as high of a volume.
Picked up the Verizon car dock today and what a joy it is to finally be able to use it for audio. As previously stated, you must use the official Car Cradle app to activate the 3.5mm jack. Since the app is basically crap (Bing, Verizon Navigator), I use Custom Car Doc, which allows you to choose whatever apps you want listed. I put Car Cradle on there and am golden. Just use it to activate the jack, then back out and you can use Custom Car Doc normally.
As for audio quality, it sounds great to me. Many cars add audio interference when the phone is plugged into the cig lighter. Amazon carries several cures for this. I installed a Pyramid NS12 12 Amp InLine Noise Suppressor, which was $6 including shipping, and it did the trick on my Mazdaspeed3.
I got the cardock to work, but not the desk cradle. I think in the superclean it was removed. It has the ASOP desk , there is no speaker button.
I use Alarm Clock Plus for my home dock and it has the speaker button.
I didn't like the stock car dock app, so I was using Custom Car Home for a while. That didn't have the speaker button. Then I tried Google Car Home. I could activate the speaker by going into the stock Music app, bit not from the Google Car Home app itself.
I guess ill have to buckle down and try the stock Samsung app. They suck.

After using DL30 for a few days, I have to say, the car cradle and desktop cradle both gives soo much static....
At least the car is more barable, but the desk was not barable.
I posted a request in the Apps section for someone to 'de-bing' the stock Froyo app, no result yet. What I did find, however, is that you can activate the dock audio from *any* of the apps that support it. So, you can activate it directly from the music app if you want to use the Google car dock, or you can activate it from the Stock Car dock if you choose to swap out to the AOSP music player. Just don't pull move like me and replace BOTH with AOSP apps and then kick yourself when you have to restore lol.
how do i stop the sound when placing my nexus 4 on my wireless charger? this sound was added in 4.2.2. i dont want to turn down other sounds, only the wireless charging one.
i removed the speaker from my LG charging mat to make it silent in the bedroom.
im not rooted and using stock rom.
Is it played from the phone? You could root and delete it from System-Media

it is either root and remove it, or put phone to silent.
it's like the camera, it will make noise unless you fix it with root or a custom rom
You can remove/rename the file WirelessChargingStarted.ogg from the /system/media/audio/ui folder to get rid of the sound.
Just FYI, removing the file won't actually stop the noise - it plays the default notification instead. What I had to do was overwrite it with a silent OGG file (there's one on Wikimedia Commons). And remember to set the file permissions correctly (it needs to be readable by anyone).

Got my Note3 on VZW last night, and so far i love almost everything about it....except...
I am sitting at work streaming music. I have a set of speakers plugged into the headphone jack.
When i receive an SMS (or any notification), the music pauses like normal. However, right before and after the pause, i hear a "pop" sound, as if i physically unplugged the speakers and plugged them back in. My Gnex that the note replaced definitely did not do this.
I don't believe it made the sound when connected BT in my car.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior? It sounds like a grounding issue.
Same for me

I am using Rhapsody, so there isn't another app option. I dont have any local music on the phone yet, but i will try that at some point.
I stream music through Rhapsody every day. I hope this isn't a hardware issue. Seeing poweramp work better makes me hopeful it is just a software issue.
Everytime i use podkicker (podcast player app) and plug an aux cable into my car i increase the volume to the max. When i exit the app and disconnect the cable the vol resets back. Am i missing something simple here? Does this happen to anybody else? I have never owned a phone where it does not remember the media vol setting?
So nobody else has noticed this, or am i crazy lol?

Happens to me everytime I insert headphones, the volume is around 25% resets....assuming that this is "safe media volume" in settings - sounds, but our Note 3 doesn't have a setting like that
Totaly normal feature on the phone... volume resets on plug and unplug of headphones... volume of device speaker changes when bluetooth is enabled so it doesn't come blasting out of your bluetooth device also.

seen it in the beans thread and took it as a compliment.... have at it bro
Made that on the Note3, PicSay Pro... sitting on the John at Home Depot... thought it was kinda sketchy but got my point across pretty well right?
Hey guys. Every single time I insert a cable into the headphone jack of the S 5, the volume is automatically set to like 70% for "safe listening" and must be manually adjusted back to a higher volume if desired. I have already disabled the message that appears notifying this, however the volume still gets adjusted. I actually mostly use the headphone jack for my car audio, so safe listening is not useful for that case.
I am wondering if there is a setting I'm missing or if it must be (already is?) modded to not lower the volume upon inserting headphones.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have the same problem. Safe listening never applies to me because I am either in the car or using have impedance headphones that need 90% volume to produce correct levels. I'll let you know if I find a way.
