Automatic Volume Decrease? - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys. Every single time I insert a cable into the headphone jack of the S 5, the volume is automatically set to like 70% for "safe listening" and must be manually adjusted back to a higher volume if desired. I have already disabled the message that appears notifying this, however the volume still gets adjusted. I actually mostly use the headphone jack for my car audio, so safe listening is not useful for that case.
I am wondering if there is a setting I'm missing or if it must be (already is?) modded to not lower the volume upon inserting headphones.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have the same problem. Safe listening never applies to me because I am either in the car or using have impedance headphones that need 90% volume to produce correct levels. I'll let you know if I find a way.

Hearing Saver app in play store works great for that.

This seems to work well, but I'd like to forgo using an additional app for this. Thank you, though!

Increase headphone volume

Hi guys,
I was testing a bluetooth headphone and noticed the volume quite low even on the highest setting the headphone could give.
Is there a way to increase the volume the phone provides over a bluetooth connection with those secret codes?
I was trying this method but the code doesn't work at all:
Samsung Focus Audio Level ChangesIncrease Speaker Volume
1- Go to the dialer of your phone and access diagnostic mode by dialing ##634# or start the Diagnosis app by clicking it from your app menu.
2- Input *#0002*28345# to get to the Audio menu.
3- See the last option named “Device Gain (max/min)”... Hit the “Get” option next to it.
4- Now from among the 3 fields: in the second one enter 1600 and in the third field enter 0.
6- Hit “Set”.
7- Tap “Start” button at the bottom of the app.
8- Exit Diagnosis by clicking the windows home button then restart your phone.
Increase Headphone Volume
1- First and foremost make sure that your headphones are attached to your phone, as the fix won’t work otherwise.
2- Go to the dialer of your phone and access diagnostic mode by dialing ##634# or start the Diagnosis app by clicking it from your app menu.
3- Input *#0002*28345# in the diagnosis screen.
4- Navigate to “Device Gain (max/min)” and hit the "Get" button next to it.
5- In the 3 fields, enter these values respectively 5, 1100 and –1100 (some people use 1500 in second field but I think it is too high)
6- Hit "Set".
7- on the next line below change the AUDIENCE.CFG to "on".
8- Tap on the "Start" button at the bottom of the app.
9- Exit Diagnosis by clicking the windows home button then restart your phone.
NOTE:
By the way I tried a few other codes I found on the internet and nothing so far :/

i have tried everything and i ended up using audioboost from play store , its a little rough around the edges but it gives it a good boost
In the Stock Music Player:Settings > Equalizer > Custom > Move the Levers all the way up,all of them.
or use voodoo louder, Its a paid app (99p) and works well (Needs kernel support, So check before buying)
Do they add distortion? Increasing the boost in the equalizer won't affect the quality ?

Does voodoo really work when using bluetooth headphones? I think it only works or if the headphones are plugged into the 3.5 mm jack. But maybe I'm wrong because I don't use bluetooth headphones.

oh i have no idea i dont use them either I know it works with the phone speaker and wired headphones tho !
Im using Voodoo Louder now, seemed to increase the volume of my phone when I'm plugged to the wired headset.
According to google play voodoo only supports the 3.5 mm jack, no bluetooth and also not the speaker.

Ok so i bought the N7000 and i am genuinely dissapointed by the volume level in headphones. Coming from iphone 3g everything is top notch except for the volume level. I am on stock Samsung ICS 4.0.3 and even the videos are not loud enough. iphone 3g which is like 3 yrs old had an awesome loudness level and quality. Anyway to increase this?
Honestly are you people deaf? At least you must be hearing impaired. When I turn up the volume to the maximum it hurts my ears. It's by no means convenient anymore. I don't want to insult anybody but I am really wondering how someone can claim the sound through the headphones is not loud enough. Maybe your source is not loud enough because like I said, I cannot listen to my mp3 files at the highest level, it hurts. So here are my propositions: Either check your source (sound files) or buy voodoo louder.

Have to agree with altae there, although I use in ears which are notably louder than cans or over ears. If it really bothers you try paranoid which has quite major amp settings so you can max way beyond stock.

I need a fix that works with stock ics. Dont want to root. And yes the NOTE is not loud enough. Like it or not. Htc has higher loudness too.
Poweramp offers slight volume boost... Just checking, have you tried adjusting the music volume in settings?

I listen to jpop.
Nothing strange there.
Though the speaker is not loud enough.. I don't understand the complains 'bout the headphones.
I can agree on that, the speaker isn't that good. But I bought it as a phone and not a ghetto blaster so I don't really care.

ok so judging by the replies i think i should root and use voodoo loud. Does it really crank up the volume high?

[Q] Any way to remove the headphone audio safety feature?

When you plug in headphones with media volume above 75% it seems, the software will lower it with a message saying prolonged listening at higher volumes is hazardous to your ears.
I plug my phone into my car stereo and its annoying changing it back up to 80% or so every time. Any menu item I'm just not seeing, or anyone have a fix to flash?
Not that I've seen doesn't happen with Bluetooth media

Electronic nannies are annoying. Particularly if you're using line out or over the ear type headphones. 100% is barely loud enough, if that.
You can use Tasker to program it to be 100% upon pluggin in the headphone.
I used it back in my S3 days.. didn't bother so much with my recent devices.

I find (and have found with all my phones) that 100% gives a fair amount of distortion so I stick to around 80%, but yes, quite annoying that there isn't at least a setting to turn this off.
This drive me nuts too. Also the notification when I join a wireless network, or if im not using the "official" power adapter...
I can't wait till an AOSP rom comes out for this!
So, I find that using the audio out port is awful in general. I was using the audio out cable to connect it to my vehicle and even at 100% volume, its terribly low. I like to put on some music while in the shower and I have a small speaker I keep in there, which is MUCH quieter with my LG G2 than with my Gnex. The audio output from this phone is just low when using the 3.5 mm output. However, i did get a new truck this week and with the bluetooth audio: its plenty loud: maybe 2x as loud. I had the volume at MAX with the audio out aux cable and it was not even that loud, but with blue tooth- I dare not turn it all the way up.
I did just try some headphones, and they were plenty loud: so it is just when using the audio out with my car, my Xmini speaker, or some other speaker that its low.
Bring on the AOSP ROMs devs! There are some good features LG packed in, but this is a bit too much supervision and non-sense going on in the background for my liking.
I don't know much about LG as a company: but if their marketing department is anything close to competent (probably too much to ask) they should be trolling these forums and looking for suggestions on what to change with updates.
I might email them, and let them know as much.

Note 3 - headphone background noise when idle

Hello all,
Very happy with the Note 3 so far, which is no mean feat since I came from an S4.
I have however found an issue which could end up being very annoying. I use my phone for listening to music through a headphone amp and a set of UE Triple-Fi, so I'm sensitive to potential issues. I've found that when the phone is idle (no music playing, no other apps using the sound subsystem) there is a constant and very clear hiss. If I press the volume rocker down for example, it "thumps" and goes quiet for a few seconds, then the hiss returns. Similarly, if I start playing some music (Spotify or Google Music for example) again it thumps and goes as quiet as as I can hear.
Just to make it absolutely clear:
1) there's no hiss when a sound is playing, just when the phone is not outputting anything sound-wise.
2) when going from no sound to an app starting to play a sound, there's a clear, audible click/thump.
So from all the above it doesn't sound (ahem...) like a DAC SNR issue for example, just potentially a software bug. Has anyone else noticed this, are there any fixes?
Thanks!

Yepp, same problem here...and I hate it. I haven´t found a solution yet. The N2 I had before didn´t suffer of this backgroundnoise.
Thanks for replying, at least I know it's not me going crazy! Can anyone else reproduce this, or is it just us? If it's not everyone then we've got faulty devices, at least that has a solution. Thanks!

My laptop does this.
Set the brightness to full. (and turn off auto brightness.)
Also try disabling any battery-savers.
Nope, this doesn't cause it. The problem is there all the time, no matter what battery options I use.

And changing the brightness to full also has no effect? (That was the main cause on several devices.)
If not, I suspect something else is running in the background. Since it briefly stops when you press the volume keys, it is unlikely to be caused by dust in the headset port. So it has to be an app causing this.
It's still there after the latest updates. I think I might actually take a trip to a Samsung store or just an EE store and see if another Note 3 has the same problem, at least then I know if it's a general issue or if mine's faulty. To be honest, I'm starting to get a bit annoyed with it now just because of this.

Low AUX Volume (ZE551KL)

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but the volume output from the 3.5mm headphone jack is much lower for me than any other phone I've owned. With the volume maxed out, I have to almost crank my car audio volume all the way up to hear songs, and in general, I need to have it at least twice as high as I did with my Galaxy S3 or Droid 4.
I've tried a few volume boosting apps in the Play Store, but none of them made a significant difference. I've also tried messing with every setting in the Audio Manager App, which can make it slightly louder, but also distorts the audio (crackling noises).
I've read that rooting and using a root-specific app of some kind may help the issue, but I don't believe rooting is an option for the ZE551KL yet.
Anyone know a solution that will work?

It is less noticeable with headphones, but I haven't used them for an extended period of time. I thought maybe it was my AUX cable, but its the same one I used with my older phones and had no issues.

Volume Lowering by itself on S7 Edge

Has anyone else experienced a problem with the volume lowering by itself as you exercise? Twice I've been jogging and for no reason when I am halfway through my routine with every step I take the volume starts to get lowered by itself (and no I am not touching the volume or any other button). Every step will lower the volume one notch. I will raise it manually and it happens again. I have actually held the phone just lying flat on my hand and it still changes the volume. I have tried going into the settings and playing with it but everything seems normal. I have changed apps from Google Play music to Equalizer +. Nothing works. Currently I am on G935T-UVS4BQC1 rooted. However, I remember this happening once before when I was also on stock non-rooted, so I don't think it's a rooting issue.. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
Mine did this, turned out to be sweat in the wired Samsung earbud buttons causing it. Swapped to bluetooth earbuds and all is well.

Will check on this, but normally I carry my phone in my short's pocket while I run, so not sure it could be sweat. Nonetheless, It's worth a try and a look into the actual cord.
