Hi, I have the 9005 AU N3. Bought in Melbourne, I think Vodafone, but unlocked. Apparently the AU version of the N3 does not allow you to change the bottom row of apps (phone, contacts, messages, internet, apps). I even asked Samsung AU support after fighting through their site, and they confirmed this was "expected and desired software change".
Everything I find on the internet seems to point to this being something that only the AU version has... While not a show stopper, it's frustrating as I would never use the "internet" browser that comes as standard, and barely use messages, etc.. I had customized this on my Note 2 (bought in India). Anyway, questions is, or rather questions are,
Who or what is "de la vega"?
Would using "de la vega" help me fix above problems?
Would using "de la vega" cause any other problems?
Sorry, I realize this is a noob post, but I never had to change my Note2 as it did everything i wanted and I wouldn't ask if I didn't have to.
Cheers

Before ppl yell at you to search and also there is an Australian note 3 owners thread.
Anyway the Vega way is to root your device without tripping Knox. Will it allow you to make those changes you asked, yes but after rooting you also have to change a few things for them be enabled.
From the sound of things the easiest way for you to make those changes you want is to flash the MJ3 firmware to your phone.
Just google flashing MJ3 to note 3....there are plenty of guides out there..
After that you can silence your camera, change the dock shortcuts and add shortcuts to your lock screen.

What version of firmware are you using?
People have reported MJ3 has been de la vega fixed so using this method to root will now trip the Knox warranty void....
So, just checking, remove the external sd card then you downloaded both the de la vega rom(yur stock rom, check the de la vega thread) and the CSC(again IT MUST MATCH YOUR CSC OR YOU WILL GET REBOOTS) part. Flashed with ODIN.
You then let the phone reboot completely.
You put the root files folder and the root_de_la_vega.sh file onto the internal card - can't be in zip and can't be in another folder.
You then rebooted. You then deleted the file and folder from the internal memory and either rebooted or turned off and put in external sd card and rebooted...
Anything else might not work...

It tells you on the thread to 1st download the corresponding rom and csc... If you don't, you haven't got a rom that is primed for the de la vega root method. You will get errors... Here is the instructions again -
IF YOU HAVE REACTIVATION LOCK ON, TURN IT OFF!
Go to Security Settings and turn the reactivation lock OFF, this is just a precaution.
Rooting Instructions
Remove the external sdcard (if you have one)
Boot into bootloader mode (see methods above)
Load the correct AP file into the AP slot in Odin (find your AP version in post #2)
Load the correct CSC file into the CSC slot in Odin (find your CSC version in post #2)
Click start in Odin, wait for it to fully flash
Let your device fully boot after flashing has completed
Copy the contents of Root_de_la_Vega.zip to the root of the internal storage
/My Computer/[Phone Name]/Phone/
root_de_la_vega.sh
root_files (folder)
Reboot (very important!)
After fully booting delete the files from the internal storage that were added previously
/My Computer/[Phone Name]/Phone/
root_de_la_vega.sh
root_files (folder)
Reboot (extremely important!)
Reinsert the external sdcard (if you have one)

Cannot replace nv_data.bin

Hello all,
first to all who will say I must read the forum for problem solving - I did but from all the info out there it was simply too much. So I decided to start a thread in the hope that somebody will be able to help me.
So I have a corrupted nv_data.bin in my /efs folder but I still have backup of this file. But only this file.... I know - totaly dumb... I installed new JPX and after trying to change the product code from KOR to MOT (Slovenia) I accidentaly deleted nv_data.bin. I of course tried to replace it thru Astro Mate (I did had rooted phone - Darky's 6.0 was working fine ) but everytime I tried copiing this file tt didn't copy actualy - It said copied but the old file remained there - I know this because the Productcode didn't change. So I deleted the file thinking that this will help and tried to copy again. To my bad luck it didn't. I tried to copy and everytime a new file was created instead. also renaming a bakup file in this folder was not succesfule - it said Fald to rename file nv_data.bak. Since then my SIM card is not recognized and when I check what Baseband version I have it it written Unknown. So I tried even with ADB Shell, use busybox and when I eneter cp /sdcard/nv_data.bin /efs it says Now enough free space??? So I don't know anymore what to do. Does somebody have an idea what I can try to solve this? Please please please? I will donate to the one who helps me saving my SGS.
Thanks,
Borut
Hi !
This is because the file is used by the system.
Safest method:
- Reboot into recovery (make sure you have root in recovery)
- do what do need to do in recovery
- Reboot in normal state
In recovery phone / baseband / RIL are not started.
so you mean when I boot in recovery i can copy the file using adb shell? Or how do you mean I can do what I must do?
I have done it before while the phone is on, but you have to enter flight mode, set the correct owner and rights and reboot afterwards.
Well, regarding ownership and stuff like that - I'm a tootal noob
Help please NV_Data.BIN
I know this isn't the place to post this but I have been trying since yesterday afternoon can't figure out where I should post it to I keep getting an error that due to spam I can't post to certain areas without having 10 posts.
Please help -
I am not sure what to do now. I changed the rom on my phone to put 2.2 on it a while back. I never saved any of the files because I was not aware to. Now I am trying to go back to stock already used the one click Odin program and I have the original stock firmware on it. But when I try to update via kies mini it will not show up. I have searched And found multiple postings related to the fact that the product id and imei could be incorrect and you would need the original nv_data.bin file. I have searched through windows explorer on the phone but can't seem to locate one. Is there any way that I can get a copy of the original folder for /efs/nv_data.bin and any other files that are needed?
I have the Samsung Captivate on AT&T currently running 2.1
BaseBand: I897UCJF6
Kernel Version: 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
Build number: ECLAIR
You need to check your IMEI matches your original .
You have stock rom stock as in not the network supplied firmware that came with the phone ..
Windows explore is no good you need something like root explorer .#
I can get a copy of the original folder for /efs/nv_data.bin and any other files that are needed? Not unless you saved them they are phone specific .
Worth doing a factory reset before you make any step as that may solve your problem .
jje
how do I check the original imei? I didn't backup the files as I was not advised to in the information I found online at the time (couple months back). I have done a factory reset via the phone (privacy settings) a couple times now and still when I plug into kies it tells me Unregistered device.
This is very simple to fix if you have nv_data.bak in the EFS folder.
If that file is present then you can safely delete nv_data.bin and reboot the phone.
A new nv_data.bin will be generated.
how do i know if I have nv_data.bak? where on the phone would I find it and how?

It should be in the efs folder (unless you've done something to delete it). As said by JJEgan, you will need root explorer. Navigate to it in the efs folder and copy it to the external sd card and then keep it safe somewhere.
how do I check the original imei?
Its on the box and or with the receipt .

[Q] Flashing an I5800

Hi everyone
I've got a few questions about flashing an Android phone. I've tried going through KIES but unfortunately they don't have any updates for the below mentioned model.
I've got an GT-I5800XXXMST (Belgium telecom model) that I want to flash using Odin. I want to use the following image: I5800XWJPE.tar
1. Do I need to remove the sbl.bin, boot.bin and logo.png to play it safe? In that in that case I always retain the ability to flash
2. Do I need to edit the OPS file and remove the above mentioned entries?
3. Which OPS file should/can I use? Are they all the same for the I5800? (apollo_0531.ops)
4. Which version of ODIN do I need to use? I currently have I5800_Odin_Multi_Downloader_v4.252.exe
5. Do I need to backup my EMEI?
6. Simple and plain backup tool for upping my current os?
7. Any tips?
Many thanks all,
Tempert

1) Yes removing boot.bin and sbl.bin would be safe.
2) No need to edit ops or anything.
3) Ops is same for all ROMS(i.e. apollo_0531.ops).
4) The ODIN version that you have mentioned is the correct version. Use that.
5) Yes. Backing up IMEI would be good. For tutorial click here.
6) Use titanium backup to backup apps.
1. yes, but you can download romfiles without those files in the forums
2. no, you just remove them from the tar archive
3. all the same
4. that's the one
5. better be safe, but I haven't had a problem with it
6. Alexgalaxy's backup script
7. read and search the forum
Go for jpn or jpm . Yes you have to remove the files to avoid hardbrick. Dont worry its been done by dharamg3
use this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125387
After downloading from the above thread thread
Just use apollo_0531.ops for flashing using the odin that you have
Yes it is recommended to backup your IMEI
Use this thread for backup and restore of IMEI
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888193
The IMEI is stored in a partition called efs
And root your phone before you backup
Many thanks all!!
Verry clear answers
Running 2.2 happily
Yesss!
Any luck with the backup of your original firmware ? Could you share the factoryfs.rfs ?
I have tried to backup my phone with that Alexscript. Although It gave some errors about not finding some directories...
Will the factoryfs.rfs contain personal data?
No, it's your system partition; personal info is stored in the data partition. You have root and your sdcard is big enough for the backup (500MB free should do it) ?
But if you have already flashed another rom, there's obviously no need. I thought about having an original "Orange" rom for when I need to use warranty on my phone.
It's a Mobistar rom. I think I have it but the .tar file was only 200Mb big if I remember correctly. I will try an upload it if I have the time.
Hmm, yeah, I meant Mobistar obviously.
Sounds about right. You can zip it again to save a lot of space.

Error message during factory reset

Hi guys,
I'm new in this forum, I hope you can help me with this weird thing. Excuse me if my english isn't very good, I'm spanish. Thanks in advance!
My firmware is XWKF3, from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
When I do a factory reset, in factory reset log I can see something like:
installing multi-CSC
can't acces to '/system/csc/FOP/system'
Sucessfull applied multi-CSC
Should I worry about it?
I think that this message is relative to salescode, because Spain generic salescode is FOP, and previously to this version, when I had the Vodafone (Spain) firmware version, with CSC: KE2 (ATL), the message was something like: can't acces to '/system/csc/ATL/system'
Best regards
CSC is country specific code.
It says applied Multi CSC so unless problems dont worry .

Hi There. I had the same problem as I Flashed my Phone with XXKL1 and it contained Multi-CSC but I am in Canada with Bell so I should have Bell CSC applied, but after flashing the rom with Multi-CSC I started to get that problem so here was my fix to it:
1. Make sure your phone is rooted and Superuser and busybox installed. You will also need a root explorer such as ESFile Explorer or Root Explorer
2. Now install Root Explorer or ESFile Explorer with root permission enabled.
3. Now go back to download mode and Flash/Apply your CSC file.
4. Once it boots up let it do its thing. (You will still get that message but don't worry)
5. Now go to the RootExplorer or ES File Explorer and mount as R/W (Read-Write) and then go to "/system/csc" and rename your original CSC code for example if I am in Canada i have BMC for Bell, I will rename that to FOP and delete the rest of the CSC folders as I do not need them. (i did in my case to give me more system space as it would not write more if you do not have system space). If you want you can leave them in yours.
6. Now reboot your phone into Recovery Mode and let it do its thing you will see that message will disappear. Once its done that, Boot up your phone then go back to the fileExplorer or ESFIle Explorer "/system/csc" and rneame that renamed folder FOP back to your country code and done. You will also see that now you have many files in that directory and not just the folders.
Try it out and let me know. Good Luck
*2767*3855# and then boot into recovery and it sets itself to a CSC

too bad we can not repack. If we could we could make .ftf files, am i right?
Isn't there anyone working at sony who can slip the program for making .ftf-files this would make the lives of people with locked bootloader but with custom roms a lot easier. Now when we are stuck we always have to flash back to stock, root and then install recovery before we can install a custom rom.
Isn' there realy any other way. Isn't it possible to make a program, or a feature in flashtools so that the battery charging hack like used in x-parts can be runned "externaly", what i mean is so when the phone is hooked up en restarted/started it goes straight to recovery. Or is this far fetched?

before flash it from CWM.
you must to execute other CWM function.
Wipe data and cache!
wipe dalvik
Format /system (in mounts and storage)
Yup, I cleared cache, data and dalvic
Also formatted system, cache and data in mounts
Did this straight after installing and rooting a fresh rom.
Every time just doesn't get past the first Sony Ericsson screen
Could it be that I added a couple of extra apps?
Idk tried it loads of times lol
Even tried pulling the battery and rebooting again. I left it on the Sony screen for well over an hour just to make sure

Nice one. Thank you. Helps for someone new lokie me, looking around to figuring things out on my own by trial and error.. takes a lot of the "error" out of things..
I am getting bootloops.
Obviously I am doing something wrong, as others have gotten it to work.
Here's what I did:
1. Using FTF (GB ST15i 4.0.2.A.0.62)
2. Extract system.sin
3. Unpack system.sin using FTF extractor & got the system folder (inside which has folders: app, bin, xbin along with other folders)
4. Downloaded META-INF AND ROOT.zip (inside which has system folder: app, bin, xbin)
5. I copied the contents of the system folder (app - Superuser.apk, bin - su & xbin - busybox) and pasted on system folder (in their respective subfolders app, bin & xbin)
6. I create a zip file combining "system" and "META-INF"
7. Placed zip on SD Card, flash using CWM, power up and get bootloops
Anybody has any idea what I am doing wrong?
Any help appreciated! Thanks!!
What About Just Flash Su & Binary via CwM?
I don't Understand the sense... ...better would be: how to make ftf Flashable

2.6.1 apk gives me the same error. But i'm fixed it. For those with the same problem, I take app_process32 from /system/bin and libandroid_runtime.so from /system/lib, from 2.22.40.53 firmware, and overwrite these files on my /system/bin and /system/lib partition. After reboot, i'm able to install Xposed framework.
The Xposed apk don't work on this new version because the new security patch.
Here's the files you need: https://www.mediafire.com/?gq97065u1sfw62r
just for info..
can you please list xposed modules that you use..
gravitbox box does not properly work on kk
I only use
Greenify..
gravitybox..
nothing else

GravityBox is very limited on KitKat, so I don't use it. I use Xposed more because the module xInternalSD, helps me a lot, because my phone is the 8GGB version, and I have a 32GB SD card. I also use greenify and two modoules to expand notifications on notification panel. Flat style modules is a very good option for modifications on status bar, occasionally I use it.

(PS: Don't flash the zip, this isn't a flashable zip. Simple overwrite the two files in /system/bin and /system/lib fodler of your phone, with a Root file manager.)

Enable Root Explorer in ES tools
And please, don't use the files from this post, I encountered some bugs using 2.21.40.44 files. To have Xposed working without bugs, copy these files from 2.22.40.53 firmware to your system.

Download Root Explorer from Google Play, open it, go to /system and "Mount as R/W"
Now try to copy the files.
I didn't get any error while replace these files, except when I reboot (if I use the wrong files).

Then I recommend you to downgrade to 2.22.40.53 or 2.22.40.54 to use Xposed.

Then take the files one by one, and replace on the correct folder.
